Good selection of food . Excellent wild boar . That rare thing, a tasty burger. Chips looked apetizing and were certainly OK but not quite up to rest of the meal. Friendly and timely service. A party in at the time seemed to be having a jolly time . Seemed to be a popular venue.

We stopped in for lunch expecting the usual same old choices but we're really delighted with what was on offer. Everything was cooked to perfection; they've obviously got a chef who knows what to offer and how to prepare it. A vegan, vegetarian and meat eater were all very satisfied. There were hearty portions and the chips were exceptional as was the duck cooked on a hot stone. We will be back.

Went to play some pool. Got some food and drinks too. Big portions and yummy but pretty expensive. £17.50 for a fish and chips… Friendly staff gave pound change from notes for the pool table. Cozy little pool area but not much space on some sides. No chalk. Probably could do with some new equipment.

The menu is very interesting and varied . We came in one day and just fancied a light bite between us, and had the whitebait, oh my God it was huge, the best portion of whitebait and very very tasty. I would highly recommend. So we came in a few days later to have a main meal, I had duck on the hot stone with sautéed new potatoes and garlic green beans. All three parts of the dish were amazing. My husband had the pie of the week with real vegetables and chips. He thoroughly enjoyed his as well. I would highly recommend.

We ate here in a family group of 9. We were served promptly throughout the meal and the staff were friendly. The food was good (we had a green prawn curry, chef's salad, mixed grill, chicken and leek pie, BBQ sharing platter, Eton Mess, blackberry and prosecco cheesecake, sticky toffee pudding etc.) We all enjoyed our meals. There was a play area that helped entertain our children in any wait. There is history about 'the snake catcher' and interesting wall decorations inside as well as a pool table. We would recommend.

Me and my partner planned to have a nice meal at The Snakecatcher. When we arrived we asked if there were any tables available for two. The bartender seemed uninterested when we asked where we could sit. We were not told if we had to order at the bar or if there was table service. We seemed to be brushed aside. We sat outside but soon decided to leave and go elsewhere for our dinner. We understand it may have been busy, but customer service is key.

We booked a table inside on Sat night during a weekend in the New Forest. Once we got there we managed to relocate in the garden since it was lovely weather. Food (mediterranean skewer, and nachos) were both great and good value. We'd been disappointed with food in far more expensive places that weekend (The Pig especially), but The Snakecatcher was a lovely surprise. Only negatives - it was very busy and a bit of a crush at the bar, but tasty food and good prices mean I'd definitely return if in the area again.

I've visited this pud many times in the last 10+ years as an able bodied person family, and found it a very nice and unique place, HOWERVER. I visited with my family 06/2024 and personally found this visit very frustrating and definitely not disable friendly. Staff sadly didn't seem very helpful, as I was having to be a carer for my mum and sister with my son and found that there is very little access for wheelchair and people with walking difficulties as the pub is on so many different levels including the girls toilets. I am very let down and feel I may never go to this pub again 😕.

Not only is it a lovely pub, but the food was fantastic! I didn't know what to expect, it has a very traditional feel but it was a very modern menu. The chef's salad my partner had, and my jacket spud with tuna were to such an amazing quality, it surpassed our expectations! The service was quick, and so kind. We had our pup and our friend had his, who is very nervous of strangers. When the server came over and the dogs began barking he waited patiently for them to calm, then gained their good graces with treats!! They settled so much better with this little kindness and patience! We were super impressed, delighted with the food and the staff! We will not hesitate to return the next time we head for a New Forest walkies.

Was recommended we eat here by a local….and so we did. Friday night early evening meal: the food was nice and was served quickly. The staff member who brought our meal to us was friendly. Otherwise the service was poor. Upon arrival we went to the bar to seek a table and encountered 3 staff…none whom acknowledged us on multiple occasions. After waiting 7/8 minutes we approached somebody. After being shown to a table we went to the bar to order and once again the service was poor and the staff seemed disengaged and disinterested. Although this was a Friday evening…the pub didn’t seem to be busy and so it’s hard to use that as a reason for an average dining experience.

Some of our group had completed a 30 mile training walk so were tired and hungry. We found a table but no one came to speak to us despite there being several staff around. I went to the bar to order drinks and ask about the pie of the day which I was told was steak and ale. My daughter ordered this but when the pie arrived it was chicken. We questioned this but we’re told it had never been steak and ale! My daughter was hungry so said she would just have it but asked for gravy as it was very dry. This we were charged for despite it being their mistake. It took ages for plates to be cleared and again I had to go to the bar to order pudding. Food was generally ok but they definitely need to improve their service. Plenty of staff but lack of training and/or organisation. Won’t be rushing back.

Both very tasty and compliments tot he chef for the pork medallions. Tried a couple of the ales which were good. Will be going back when in the area.

Popped in on the off chance of getting a table after a long day at Beaulieu. Few tables available and one of them was told we could have for an hour as they needed the table back for a reservation, fair enough. Food was ok but an extra £1.50 for a small pot of gravy to go with a meat pie was a little steep. Service was awful. Felt like we were being monitored on our time and were quite uncomfortable with the waitress attitude. Sunglasses on her head, sloppy attitude and arrogant with it. Made a comment when we had finished our dinner saying "oh you still have 7 minutes left". Very rude and inappropriate comments to a customer. It all seemed very rushed for a 7pm reservation when all they really needed to do was put four knives and forks and four paper napkins down. Felt like we were treated as outsiders in their pub where they prefer their regulars! Won't be returning and wouldn't recommend.
