Lovely pub and especially when the sun is shining, great to take the kids as the play area is safe and you can order outside as well so need to take your eyes off them when needing g a drink or food.

Booked a table for a Saturday evening. Glad we did as very busy. Even though it was, Sydney (manager) and her team looked after us so well. Nothing too much trouble and made us feel valued as customers. Pie of the week and fish pie followed by cheesecake. Shane we’re going home tomorrow. Always next year.

A nice pub for a drink but wouldn't recommend the food at all. Frozen vegetables and very watery gravy for my partner's wild boar bangers and mash and undercooked chips and a poor salad for my burger so certainly not worth the money. A shame as the menu sounded lovely but wouldn't come back.

Visited to meet some friends and it was in the middle of our houses. The pub, the garden and the drinks were really good but the food was subpar, my other half had a butterfly chicken breast which was not bad but the biggest shock was the BBQ "sharing" platter. Chips, 8 small chicken wings and 3 ribs, how are you supposed to share that?! I was massively disappointed especially for £24 but didn't want to say anything whilst there as we were celebrating and didn't want to lower the mood. Good for a drink but the food left me not wanting to go back.

We visited the Snake Catcher on a Friday evening as it’s nice and close to Brockenhurst train station, making it an ideal meet point between Southampton and Bournemouth. Service was friendly as we were shown our table and drinks orders placed. New Forest IPA was particularly good. Two Camembert sharers were enjoyed by all, which had a lovely garlic and time flavour. Mains of wild boar burger, chicken burger , chicken and pasta and sausages and mash. The chicken burger was the standout of the mains, tender and tasty. Many more drinks were enjoyed before catching the train home. A decent, fun enjoyable meal out.

We booked the Snakecatcher to celebrate my Nans 85th and Aunties 60th birthday. There was a party of 20 people and although there was an initial issue with the booking, the staff on the day could not be anymore accommodating and flexible throughout the duration of the meal. There was a great selection of options on the menu and the standard of food was very high. Everyone left extremely happy with the food as well as the service. I would like to thank Connor and Matthew for going above and beyond throughout the duration of the meal. I highly recommend the Snakecatcher and will be returning when next in Brockenhurst.

I was recommended the Snakecatcher by a family friend, and was ever so excited to give it a try with some friends. Upon entry, I placed my bag on the table and in attempt to grab my wallet from the bottom of my bag, I placed a tub of baclava on the table so I could actually access my bag. A short, stodgy member of staff with glasses and a strangely high pitched voice hobbled over. Out of breath and sweating, he muttered “Get out! This is a pub, not a social club. I don’t want you in here.” This took us all by complete surprise and caused one of my friends to have what I assume was a panic attack. This was really disappointing for me as, many of my friends and family frequently visit the Snakecatcher but now I would feel too uncomfortable to visit again, in case we were to receive the same vile treatment from the same short, stodgy man with a high pitched voice and glasses.

I went in there with a couple of friends, one of which had a menu in hand and was about to order some food, when a not too kind on the eye member of staff approached us, said and i quote “This is a pub, not a social club, get out I don’t want you in here!”. This not only caused shock for me, but caused one of my friends to go into what I assume was a fully blown panic attack, as this has never happened to him before. Overall horrible experience, really disappointing and caused me to take my business elsewhere to the pub across the road. Never going again.

A great pub, with lots of discrete areas to sit - dog friendly and a wide menu with something for everyone. Really friendly and professional staff and the beer is kept really well. The sizzler menu is a nice addition and the surf/turf is spot on. Word of caution - the cheeseboard is massive and definitely a sharing plate.

We’re are on holiday so popped in at lunch time for a pint and to checkout the menu, loved the place … so popped back later on after an evening meal out for “one for the road” at around 9:30pm, but the vibes we got was that we were more of an inconvenience than welcome, so they rang the bell at 10 pm for cleared off.. Not impressed

Have been coming here for several years and had always been good . The food we served this night was tepid and as if it had been reheated. When we asked for extra gravy for my partners pie I was told It would cost extra !? We had been looking around to complain further but no one even came to ask how the food was . No lack of staff just completely no interest. The pub wasn’t busy maybe 5 tables being served . As for a manager there was no one to be seen .

Having gone on a long walk through and outside of the village. The Snakecatcher looked the best place for Friday lunch and we were not disappointed. Friendly staff and atmosphere, good old fashioned decor and a blazing fire. We had chicken pie and chips and the food was good. Cider good to. Everything was cooked to perfection; they've obviously got a chef who knows what to offer and how to prepare it. A vegan, vegetarian and meat eater were all very satisfied. Nice venue. Food and beer selection good. Customer service let them down (myself working in hospitality). Sat at a table that was free, and later staff placed a “table reserved from 5pm” sign. Fine, no issues. At 1654 I was asked to vacate the table as the booking was early. From my experience most establishments place a 15 minute window to avoid such embarrassment as I would have happily vacated at the time. Hope The Snakecatcher will improve to avoid embarrassment of both outgoing and incoming patrons.

We booked a table inside on Sat night during a weekend in the New Forest. Once we got there we managed to relocate in the garden since it was lovely weather. Food (mediterranean skewer, and nachos) were both great and good value. We'd been disappointed with food in far more expensive places that weekend (The Pig especially), but The Snakecatcher was a lovely surprise. Only negatives - it was very busy and a bit of a crush at the bar, but tasty food and good prices mean I'd definitely return if in the area again.

The food is terribly average even for a pub in 2025. Had the Sunday lunch. The yorkshire pudding took over much of the plate. The selection of roasted root veg was 1 parsnip batton and 2 carrot batons. The mash and seasonal greens were squashed at the bottom of the yorkshire pudding but were extremely small portions. Given the great reviews, we were disappointed,
