The Lord Nelson Pub is a fantastic local spot with a welcoming atmosphere and a good selection of drinks. The staff are friendly and attentive, and the pub's charm and cosy environment make it an excellent place to relax and socialise. Whether you’re stopping by for a casual pint or a catch-up with friends, the Lord Nelson provides a consistently enjoyable experience.

This pub has kerb appeal from the pretty cobbled precinct, but then you enter into a world of grumpy staff. When we tried to order food, the mature barmaid was curt and grumpy . “I need a table number she said” . There were no table numbers outside “. Well, I need the colour of your table then please. “ We chose yellow. “ food bypassed us as apparently its green! Shame. A smiling face leaves a totally different impression

I recently booked one of the small bars to hold a celebration of life for friends of my mum who lived in Hythe. The buffet was excellent, we particularly enjoyed having a wide selection of the usual sandwiches etc, together with a great cold meats and cheese platter with ample fresh crusty bread and olives. I would definitely recommend this quirky pub to anyone in a similar situation. The staff were really friendly too.

I attended the lord Nelson on a thursday night, when I arrived there was a quiz night taken place, I have to say the staff and the young lady doing the quiz was fantastic and really made me feel welcome, I can honestly say this venue is a great place to come and relax and feel welcome with the bar staff they had when I was there which was Kacy, Libby and Owen really made me feel welcome and comfortable will defiantly be attending the next quiz night if Libby is reading the quiz, what a great pub and staff they have.

Can't say I would come again. Salad had the ceasar dressing missing, fish cake had the coleslaw missing. One of our party if 4 was still waiting for food when the rest of us had finished. Locals were not friendly at all, glared at us constantly and stood in our way when we tried to get past. Scampi and chips was nice when it did arrive eventually.

It's a pub full of life. Nothing posh about it, but a friendly welcome and a good pint served by friendly bar staff as the footy played out on the tellies. It was perfect for me with 40 minutes to kill before the ferry. I would certainly come back to try out the food. I like the multi bar layout!

Absolutely lovely place, visited here today with my aunt. Lovely atmosphere and very quirky old pub, lots of history. Had children's roast chicken, which was more than enough for a grown adult, delicious. Gravy was homemade and roasties were really crispy, veg cooked perfect and homemade Yorkshire pudding was lush. Staff were very helpful and polite, very friendly. Definitely recommend and will return on my next visit from Wales.

This is one of those really oldie worldie pubs with multiple minute bars, stuffed full of bric-a-brac and mementoes from a bygone age. It's on the Cask Marque Ale Trail and the purpose of my visit. Despite saying so on their website and although the door was open , they were clearly not ready for business at 11.00, and there was no way the beer would be fit to serve. I asked for a coffee, but even this was met with vaguary. I'm sure it's a lovely pub, but not at 11.00 on a Sunday morning

The small old bars with an historical atmosphere are well worth a look, and were full of people. A good range of traditional beers. Pity that the back bar was given over to karaoke on a Saturday night, and was empty. Maybe it gets busy later, but the whole pub used to packed and full of life. Still, worth a visit for the other bars. Lunchtime food is quite good.

We went for a friends catch up drink on a Sunday at 5 pm … in the beer garden some army guys were arguing and more or less fighting so we went into the bar … inside a group were shouting and swearing and pushing each other it was like a rough student night or something when we asked the staff why this atmosphere was tolerated she laughed and shrugged Great shame … this pub could be amazing but every time I go people are drunk & shouting it’s a really badly managed pub where people are allowed to behave in a rough manner … what a shame

Having been in the trade the first port of call when visiting a pub, Restaurant is the loo! See my photos I was so impressed I told the chap behind the bar. Bit strange I know but credit where its due and it is my bench mark of how well the establishment is cared for. I wasn't disappointed, Doombar ale was in perfect condition, the staff smart and friendly, food proper lush and atmosphere daytime was calm and welcoming. The Hythe ferry next door will take you into Southampton past the cruise ships missing the traffic, Hythe may be overshadowed by Southampton but no less beautiful. The jewel in the crown.

Expectation exceeded. First time here for a relatives 60th who had stayed here before and yep, this hit the spot. Think of cutesy, countryside, “Manor House” style kind of boutiquesque blend, and this will sum it up Loved my room (number 6), the bar, restaurant, gun room and surrounding area. It’s truly in a great location for walks and is dog friendly. Some issues with another room with a faulty extractor which looks to not have been working for some time as the shower room was too damp and the smell was obviously so (room 20). The third room of the party, (room 15) again, great. Food great and staff happy to serve. Bit let down by the Saturday lunch but that’s on an ultra petty level like, not bringing over cutlery when served food and putting ice in drink when asking for none and a slightly too salty mushroom on toast dish (and that takes a fair bit for me to say too salty) but as I said, petty but compared to the flawless dinner on the Friday night, it did “taint” the over all experience on the food front. Wouldn’t say the best cocktails so don’t indulge with the price point but good wines and boy oh boy the Guinness here is on point. Amazing head! 100% looking to come back
