Expectation exceeded. First time here for a relatives 60th who had stayed here before and yep, this hit the spot. Think of cutesy, countryside, “Manor House” style kind of boutiquesque blend, and this will sum it up Loved my room (number 6), the bar, restaurant, gun room and surrounding area. It’s truly in a great location for walks and is dog friendly. Some issues with another room with a faulty extractor which looks to not have been working for some time as the shower room was too damp and the smell was obviously so (room 20). The third room of the party, (room 15) again, great. Food great and staff happy to serve. Bit let down by the Saturday lunch but that’s on an ultra petty level like, not bringing over cutlery when served food and putting ice in drink when asking for none and a slightly too salty mushroom on toast dish (and that takes a fair bit for me to say too salty) but as I said, petty but compared to the flawless dinner on the Friday night, it did “taint” the over all experience on the food front. Wouldn’t say the best cocktails so don’t indulge with the price point but good wines and boy oh boy the Guinness here is on point. Amazing head! 100% looking to come back

After a walk in the forest, we popped in for some early dinner. The pub itself was welcoming with open fires roaring away. Jamie and his staff were extremely friendly, food was served quickly and was absolutely fantastic. The game mixed grill comes highly recommended! Lovely cosy place, good food, great staff.

What a turn around. Came in summer and it was really disappointing- food was awful and service non existent and couldn’t eat In the garden! Came back on Friday as celebrated Halloween in spooky burley and I have to say the new manager is doing a fantastic job! The food was better, still not perfect, but Jamie himself was welcoming, enthusiastic and friendly! We will definitely return in the future

On first entering this impressive looking pub in the bustling village of Burley you might be a tad disappointed to find it a quiet, locals pub without much going for it. We arrived in between lunch and dinner service and noticed that the tables hadnt yet been cleared and only one member of staff serving behind the bar. However we got our drinks, the session IPA Level Head was delightful, found a clean table to wait for our booked time and enjoyed some classic 70s and 80s tunes with our drinks. Within half an hour the place was busy with staff who were raring to go for dinner service and were very accommodating in bringing our booked time forward. The staff were managed well by a very enthusiastic, warm and friendly manager who we couldn't fault for his energy and professionalism. And the food did not disappoint either. We were so impressed with the presentation and flavours of the garden plot medley starter which was generous in size and filling. And luckily we had room for the very tasty mushroom and ale pie with a perfect pastry crust, mash, veg and gravy jug on the side. We were so surprised by the quality of food and its value for money as well as the wonderful hosting by Jamie that we would definitely recommend eating here and will definitely be returning.

Lovely dog friendly pub with nice staff and good food. We did have an issue with our food order taking 45minutes, which the staff explained that our order was lost and gave us a full refund and the food for free (without us asking) - which was nice. Good customer service.

The front of house staff were wonderful very helpful and pleasant The food was first class at all meals and the suroundings both indoors and out were most enjoyable. It was unfortunate that the housekeeping in the bedroom was poor. The room had not been cleaned properly.there was grit and dirt around the window sills and the floor needed a good wash over. The drinking water bottle and the milk was not teplenished. There were no spare toilet roll s. We had to ask for a spare blanket as the beds only had thin duvets on them. ( when we were there the weather had turned colder. The drain outside our door was blocked so when we had hard rain the water was up over our shoes. We were made aware that our room and the one next door were due to be refurbished but that did not excuse the points I have made. Also the toilet cistern did not refill for 24 hrs we had to fill it with the kettle and the water in the sink did not run away properly.these two point's we could accept but there again they should have been noted by the housekeeping staff. We did put the sign on the door each day for the room to be serviced.

I went for lunch but was informed that all the sauces contained coriander and none were made in-house. Since I have a coriander allergy, I couldn’t order anything from the menu as they couldn’t guarantee it was coriander-free. We ended up just having drinks—a Guinness and a glass of wine—which cost £26 Obviously it’s a lovely location, and I have been here for Sunday lunch but the lunch menus isn’t up to scratch.

We had a few issues with our room. However the manager dealt with it in a completely satisfactory way. The evening meal was very nice and our dog was catered for too . The breakfast a delight and the lady cooking and waiting for us was very helpful. We left our dogs bed there by mistake but again the staff couldn't have been more helpful and I had it back within a week. Will go back to the white buck when we are next in the new forest. Excellent service beautiful location and amenities

Our lunch here was ruined by the poor service. We were sitting outside so we ordered and paid for our food at the bar. When our food came mine was wrong, and when I told the waitress she snatched it back without a word. When she eventually came back with the right food I asked her what I had been charged for and she snapped at me that I had been charged for the other dish which was more expensive and if I wanted a refund I would need to go in and ask at the bar. She stormed off before I could reply. There was no apology and she acted as if it was my fault. I did not want any further confrontation with the staff to ruin our day so we just left it. The food was mediocre and overpriced. We won't be coming back.

Went here with some friends as we were staying nearby, it was a Saturday evening, the staff were lovely, and quite understaffed. We opted for a hake and langoustine mains - which was disappointing for £28 little meat on the crab, we added a portion of chips to fill up on. dessert £10, was a gorgeous rice and mango pudding. lovely place felt the prices were expensive

Enjoyed a few drinks and a Sunday roast here while on a short break. I think the staff were still in Summer Holiday mode as they checked with the kitchen that they were taking walk ins... when we were the only people there at 5:30 on a Sunday- must be a company policy I suppose. We only knew there was a gluten free menu from looking on the website prior to coming, but it was no trouble for the team to serve it to us. We didn't ask any of the staffs names but the "posh Nick Jonas" as we fondly called him (sorry) was great and very friendly and chatty. Our dogs received a lot of attention and some biscuits too which was a nice touch. The food itself was good though could have eaten twice the portion! It was expensive but it is a tourist village so it's going to be. Overall would return if in the area again.

We arrived a the pub at approx 5.30 pm. Asked if we could order food, we were asked rather rudely if we had a reservation to which we replied no. When I looked around there were lots of vacant tables with no reservation boards on them. We could have had a drink outside but the tables were very dirty so we left. Found another pub elsewhere which was much better.

Ok if you want a quick passing drink but that's about it. Garden area is untidy and tables not cleaned or kept on top of. Staff not the best or accommodating. It was 22 degrees outside, dull but not raining and we asked if we could eat outside. They said no because of the weather. So we upped and left and went to the Burley Inn where we sat outside and had a lovely meal.

I was really disappointed by this pub. Ordered some chips and the portion size was unbelievably small, for £5.50 it was shocking. Also the menu advertised a cocktail deal at 2 for £14. When we went to order we were told that they weren’t doing this anymore…I think this should have been honoured or otherwise marked as such on the menu. There was no apology.

This pub could be amazing but it is really let down by what appears to be bad management. Admittedly we were a big group but this pub is vast and should be able to cope. The pub was not even close to being full but we waited over an hour for our food. There were multiple tables that weren't being cleared including ours. The staff were always friendly but clearly lacked direction. After waiting over an hour for a scoop of ice cream and a sticky toffee pudding, the staff apologised, gave us a refund and said that they would bring the desert straight out. We waited another 20 mins and then had to remind the staff for a third time at which point they apologised as they had forgotten about us. The pub was practically empty by this point. I also had to remind them about the extra flat bread which took 45 mins to come out. Such a shame as it could be wonderful. With a few tweaks this could be great. Food was ok but expensive for pub food.

It was a last minute decision to visit Queens Head. We were staying in Burley for our anniversary and decided to cancel our restaurant reservation 20 minutes drive away to go somewhere within walking distance. We’re so glad we did! The food was good honest pub grub and the service was great! As soon as we sat down we were brought complimentary glasses of Prosecco to celebrate our anniversary which was a lovely surprise! We had 3 courses and a few drinks and the evening was so chilled and nice. Yes, pub grub for an anniversary meal isn’t everyone’s idea of romance but for us it was perfect. We will definitely return on our next visit to the New Forest 🙂

The four star for the food was because it was good although the overgrown Yorkshire pud was ridiculous. Turned up for a Sunday meal after a walk, tables weren’t clean and turned over, beers are £7.50 each, and they only serve roasts, we asked the chef if he didn’t mind making one of us something else as they don’t like roast dinners, and he said no! Anyway we ended up ordering 4 pork roasts as we had no choice, and 3 of them were tiny and had a bad amount of crackling and no apple sauce, then the final one turned up, with a large amount of pork and crackling and decent amount of apple sauce. Very inconsistent it seems. 3 of us disappointed with our £21.50 roast dinners. Pretty terrible experience.

Was advised a couple of items unavailable when shown to our table, however when we were ordering it became apparent that there were more items unavailable. We ordered the chefs board to start.. we was told there was no chicken which was fine, they were going to add a few other bits to compensate the missing chicken, when it arrived there was a few biscuits for the cheese, some carrot sticks, cucumber and a slither of ham hock terrine and nothing extra to compensate the lack of chicken. £16.00 for 2 people for what was there is daylight robbery. For mains we had sea bass with mint risotto, the fish was okay but the risotto was hideous, completely raw just with a quick attempt to heat it up. We decided to have a dessert as we thought it could only get better (you can’t mess up cheese cake) how wrong we was. We were presented with a white mousse on a greasy thin piece of what resembled a flapjack, the mousse was able to be picked up and completely removed from the base and became two completely separate items. I would avoid this place for food at all costs. There is a good chance we didn’t choose the best items or the chef was having a bad day, but I would honestly rather go hungry then have to eat that again.

We had 3 courses here.. The chefs board to start, sea bass and risotto for main and the worse cheese cake you could imagine! If I can call it that ... the Topping was not your average 'cheese cake' it was more like mouse slapped on a not digestive base! The risotto was hard and hmm I would say 1 table spoons worth.. the chefs board was so expensive for what it was £15.99 for a dear little bit of bread, pickle and houmous camembert and carrots and cucumber oh and terine! Sounds like a lot on the menu but it was awful when they served it to us. Advertised with chicken goujons but they were out of them .. they said they would substitute them for something else ... nothing was added to replace them.. we had to ask it was then when they gave us a few garlic mushrooms! We regret going and wasting money here take some advise DO NOT GO HERE the food tasted frozen and just poor quality food.

Always a pleasant place to be. We often walk to Burley, across the Forest, and the White Buck is a great spot to rest for a coffee or lunch before continuing our walk. Good coffee, good food and friendly staff.

Highly recommend, real ale, huge portions, excellent food, what more do you need from a pub? An excellent range of drinks available at the bar and nice variety on the menu. Service was a little quiet and had to go find staff on occasions, you don't want to be smothered but the odd check is nice. I will try this place again, the menu alone deserves a second visit.

Great Sunday lunch and really friendly team. Gareth welcomed us and made us feel immediately at home. Excellent service and the trio of roasts was just what we needed after our walk.

Was out in the forest walking with the family and decided stopnfor a spot of lunch, nice pub, welcoming staff and great food. They have a lovey outside seating area although it's a bit cold to sit outside lucky for us we were allowed our small dog in.

Booked a room the old fashioned way by phone, spoke with Ella who was very helpful and friendly. We met her when we checked in, a definite credit to the business. We stayed for a Sunday. All the staff work long hours and are all very friendly.

The nicest people ever!! My car got a flat tire and I went into the pub to get wifi to find help. Everyone there was so sweet, friendly and helpful! If I lived here, I’d go there everyday! The owners were so kind and even the other patrons were very friendly! Will go for lunch or dinner.
