Excellent slow cooked BBQ food. Couldn't fault the meal we had. The duo plate (comprising of pulled pork and smoked brisket) was cooked to perfection. Friendly staff too. Heartily recommended!

Have been a regular for years but haven't visited for a while. Love the new menu. Burgers are seriously tasty. Tried the chippy ally and 'The Garbage'. Presentation excellent - burgers were incredible.

It is hard to find a good smoke house these days. Most wannabe or fake smokehouses do not sell proper brisket or smoked meats. Smoke haus is not like them and has the best smoked brisket we have had to date since coming back from Texas. I would recommend the chilli fries as compliment to any dish.

Great food and managed to accommodate us during a busy day

Sadly this place had gone downhill. Low quality food compared to previous visits, much smaller portions and massive price increases (10+ quid extra on the half mixed grill). Very disappointing visit.

The worst chicken wings I’ve ever had. Overcooked, dark, and dry! Burned chicken wings, no meat was edible inside. The baby ribs were also dry but at least edible…

A large group of us were in Saturday night and I was so impressed with how well the staff dealt with getting all our orders, getting the food out to the whole group together and then dealing with splitting the bill after. Really great job! Oh and the burger was amazing too 😁

Stumbled upon this amazing restaurant last night and tried our luck for a table as we hadn’t booked. After ordering some drinks we were told within 5 minutes that they had a table spare for us, 2 adults and 1 child. The service was exceptional, the food arrived promptly, and tasty was an understatement. It was so tasty, we forgot to take photos of the main meals. 3 of us ate a meal each and 1 adult and 1 child dessert. £62.00. Absolute bargain. credit to the waitress who never let us wait for anything and deserved our £8 tip. would highly recommend this place and deserves nothing less than 5 stars.

Had a great time was able to seat in the bar section so we could watch the 6nations and then we stayed for drinks after. Cocktails were great. 2nd time in Cardiff 2nd time visiting

My daughter and I ate supper here while on vacation from the US. We really wanted to like it. The staff was very friendly and this review is of no fault of theirs. Walking in, and the place screams "We are trying too hard"! Instead of focusing on a theme, it's like a hodgepodge of bad Americana. Pictures on the wall of everyone from President Kennedy to mafia movie characters to Marilyn Monroe. Then throw a bunch of dated 1980's New York graffiti. And, do all this with the wood tables, chairs and red bricks that you would find in a Southern BBQ restaurant in the United States. It really doesn't work. Onto the food! I've been all through the south in the US. I happen to be the head cook and own a BBQ restaurant in the US. BBQ is what I do to pay the bills for nearly 20 years. Let's get to it. We ordered the large platter with ribs, brisket, pork, wings, a cheeseburger, fries and slaw. There was a huge amount of fries in the middle of the tray. The Slaw was not bad but, way over dressed. The wings (we ordered the honey mustard) were very bland with no sauce and WAY over cooked. They were crunchy and dry. The ribs should have been trimmed better but not really a complaint as much as an observation. They were over cooked as the bones easily pulled right out of the meat. Rib meat should stay on the bone but, should release with a little pull. Anyone can make meat fall off the bone. It's called over cooking. The flavor was ok. Not great but, not bad. Middle of the road. Now for the best and worst. The worst by far was the brisket. Look, brisket is hard to do right. It takes years to get it down and even then, it's still not easy. This brisket was so dry, it was hard to eat. In fact, we didn't. After a few trys, it was pushed to the side. Also, someone in the kitchen needs to learn how to properly cut brisket. Our slices were way too thick and they were with the grain. When cut like this, the meat is stringy. Brisket should always be cut against the grain. Now onto the best. The pulled pork was by far the best meat on the platter but even then, it would only be considered so-so back home. It had a decent smoke signature and the flavor profile wasn't bad at all but, again it tasted a bit dry and just off the mark. The cheeseburger seemed completely out of place and my daughter had 2 bites and put it down and it was never touched again. Portion sizes were very large even for back home. I'm happy to see they smoke with oak (it's what I use at my restaurants) and I'm also happy to see someone trying to do something that is very much American in their home country. Part of me wishes I could spend a week here just so I could show them some stuff and help them dial it in. I truly hope they can grown and improve. Again, the staff was not the issue. Everyone was very nice who we spoke with and helpful. Food is very subjective. Give this place a go and make up your own mind.

Went for a birthday meal with a large party. Staff seemed angry we were there and service was slow, some items just didn't arrive. I had the half rack of ribs which was a bit basic and not great quality meat. Fries were good though

Good bbq enough said. My son wanted to go back here for his birthday meal (09/03/24)and yet again the food was on point, only one criticism I have is that my daughter was looking forward to chicken and waffles, but it has been taken off the menu, she was not happy. All in all we had nice BBQ food and a reasonable price for the 4 of us and good service. Well done smoke Haus

Very lively restaurant. Food was great and music choices was great, you were able to choose songs offered in the playlist. Our server Connor was lovely and very accommodating. Will definitely be back again.

My partner and I went here last night. We booked at table, when we go there the table wasn’t quite ready so they showed up to the bar. We were happy with this and had a drink while we waited. The atmosphere was great. There was mostly rock music playing. We were shown to our table. We ordered the mimi mixed grill. Omg it was lovely. So much food, the meats were cooked perfect the chilli we had was beautiful. The service was great fast, friendly and efficient. I can’t wait to go back.

Was ok. Portion size is huge. But needs more slaw or salad. The burgers were better than my pulled pork and brisket. So deffo go for the burgers. They were great.

Staff were lovely and always happy to help , despite the restaurant being very busy , we were sat at our table within a reasonable time and the food came within a few minutes after ordering which we were not expecting due to the high volume of customers, very good evening

Service was good not gonna lie, but this was the driest brisket I have ever tasted and I spent almost £20 for 3 strips of this. Took away so can’t speak on atmosphere. Advice to chef-keep the fatcap on the brisket and slow smoke! Your brisket is dry

Food was great but the venue was way too dark. I like a dark atmosphere but we had to use phone torches to read the menu. Maybe some table light would fix that.

My fiancée and I went here with another couple last Saturday (28th Jan). We were seen to by very friendly waiting staff, and were prompt in serving our food and drinks. Everything was first class. I simply cannot fault the quality of the food that came through the kitchen. We all shared a large nachos and a chicken platter to start, and I had the half rack of ribs afterwards. The ribs fell off the bone and covered in home made BBQ sauce. Stellar! Best ribs I've ever had. When we come back to Wales, we fully intend to come back here.

Delicious tasty dishes, good customer service, fast chefs and no need to wait forever, pleasant atmosphere. Accessibility to all. Not far to St David's and John Lewis parking. Have toilets inside. Plenty of seating and suitable for romantic atmosphere as well as social bar and restaurant. Good place to watch sport. Prices are very reasonable. I would recommend to anyone who would like to have good experience. Good place to celebrate a birthday and birthday boy was very impressed. We do not mind to visit again soon.

Fuming. Ordered the beef brisket plate for £20, the brisket was dry and the chips were basic, I mean at least put some Cajun on them. The coleslaw was like they went to Tesco and bought it. I don’t ever leave bad reviews but smoke haus come on you need to sort it out. We paid the bill and left but won’t be back.

Arrived at the time we booked only to then be told the kitchen closed in 30 mins a bit of a nightmare trying to rush our order through..

Staff were good .but the food was awful .dry ribs cold chips .plate of pulled pork brisket and chicken wings .all of it was dry .overcooked .👎

Excellent experience and will be going again soon. My girlfriend and I ordered the Ultimate Cheeseburger and the Taj Mahaus and they were both delicious, especially with cheese fries. The waiting staff could not be more helpful and the overall atmosphere was great.

Was doing a family post Christmas shopping trip,stopped here for a lunchtime bite as friends had recommended,and must say throughly enjoyed not only the food but the general atmosphere of the place,staff on door were welcoming and waitress had excellent customer service,very knowledgeable about the food and no long wait for food which is always a plus when you have hungry teenagers,so for us have no negatives only positives ,would we come here again most definitely maybe for dinner next time,would I recommed yes definitely a place to try if in cardiff

Read reviews was a bit worried but had a brilliant time. 15 of us attended on Tuesday 3rd age ranges from 77 to 4 yrs. Was seated promptly drinks and food arrived quick and all orders correct food was perfectly cooked and hot,no complaints at all. Staff helpful and we were able to split bill with no issues. Would recommend.

Returned to the Smoke Haus on 6th December 2023 for dinner at 2030. The restaurant closes at 2200 and was not too busy upon arrival. As soon as we sat down the waitress advised us the kitchen was closing soon and we needed to order starters and mains together. The starter arrived within minutes and was lovely. The main arrived before we had finished the starter but again was lovely. Minutes after finishing the mains the waitress came over and asked if we wanted the bill and any final drinks as the bar was closing. This was at 2110, 40 minutes into our 90 minute slot. The other two couples left and staff stood looking at us, making my partner feel uncomfortable and wanting to leave. I went to the toilets to find one waitress standing with her arms folded blocking the gents and ladies toilets. I was directed to the disabled toilet ad the others were closed. A real shame as the food is lovely and I had previously had a nice meal, my reason for returning. I think management need to train their staff in good customer service as this is my reason for not returning.

Lovely staff, quick service. Went as a party of 15 for a work night out, pretty attentive when taking food and drink orders - not really checking in on us otherwise though. Assumed it was busy! :)

Nice place, nice looking restaurant, really nice fun surroundings & we were quickly greeted & seated without a booking. We were served quickly by a friendly waiter who was helpful & polite. We ordered our food, which didn't take long to arrive, but to be honest it was over pieced for what it was, the pork was dry & accompaniments were no better than cheaper places I have eaten at before at better quality. All served on a tin tray, felt like I was camping! (for their ease I imagine they serve on these) If you wanted a napkin there is a roll of kitchen roll on the table which I found was another cheap shortcut considering the food wasn't cheap for what it was. Whilst not extremely expensive but £19.99 for a meal I expected more than dry pork & a few chips on the side. Unfortunately this would put me off eating here again. Another good thing was the wine was nice, & the beer according to my husband! Our waiter Kieran was really friendly & helpful & attentive throughout our meal. I would only visit again for drinks if we visited the area again.

We had a big mixed platter. Enough for 4 . Very tasty meats. We should have upgraded the chips for more flavour.

From past reviews and videos we had seen about this restaurant we expected the food to be amazing. However, the food was mediocre and overpriced in our opinion. The service was quick to bring out food however it did take us a while to get the servers attention so we could order. The atmosphere was great! You can pick your own songs to play which was a fun idea.

We visited last night before a show , we pre booked a table and was told to wait a few moments as it wasn’t ready in the mean time my partner asked who I assume was the manager (an older blonde lady) how the gluten free items are prepared as I have coeliac disease and she was very dismissive and rude. Our waitress on the other hand I think her name was Rachel was fantastic if it wasn’t for her I would of turned around and walked out as no one else wanted to provide a proper service and I feel as if no one else took my dietary needs seriously. When my food was brought out by two other members of staff I asked if it was my gluten free meal and they looked at me blank and pointed to mine and my partners meal ( my partners burger was definitely not gluten free) Rachel checked with the chef for me to confirm, again if it wasn’t for her I wouldn’t of felt comfortable to eat. The food was nice but because of the awful service I won’t return.

Waited over an hour for food to be told no pulled pork £27 per head for food never worth it , chicken wings dry no taste beef dry , it’s actually an embarrassment to a proper smokehouse , terrible food wouldn’t go back very very over priced the chef /cook should be embarrassed to serve rubbish food up like that . I would always give credit where credit is due . Not here….

Better ribs than I got in Texas in March 2023. Smoke Haus ribs have a deep flavor, nice bark, very soft and a nice counter point sauce, lovely.

We booked for a table of 16 for a friend's 30th birthday. The staff were efficient and attentive. All our meals came out together, in a decent amount of time, and there were no issues. Me and my son are vegetarian, so he had a vegan hot dog. And I had the vegan wings, which were too spicy for me, so beware if you're a spice whimp like me. Great choice of alcoholic and non alcoholic beverages. A lot of people had burgers, and they were all well received. Huge portions! The only complaint was that the brisket was dry and not very tasty. Another veggie option for a burger would be nice. Bean burgers are very overdone nowadays. The restaurant has lots of cool things to look at and has a great atmosphere. You can choose music too, which is detailed on your table. Overall, I would recommend eating here, especially if you eat meat!

would have left 0 stars if i could have. i work in the industry so i know how this stuff goes and how proper service is executed. the waitresses were rude we waited 15 minutes for the bill after asking 2 servers and explained we were in a rush, i saw one server hug another server and when i called her over she rolled her eyes at the server as if to say i interrupted. after receiving the bill we had asked for student discount and then waited another further 10 minutes for the new bill then i had to physically get up off the table to pay for my meal and when one of the waitresses came over to take payment our discount wasn’t on their? and then she slammed the card machine down on the table after i had said that the discount wasn’t in there so i ended up paying full price because i couldn’t wait no more as she said she had to get her manager in a rude tone i just wanted to leave. the food was good but didn’t receive a check back which was disappointing the restaurant was quite empty so me and the others at the table felt neglected. honestly would not recommend this for the price you pay you don’t receive up to standard service although the food was good i would not be paying that again and the environment was not welcoming at all. i won’t be returning here again.

The smoke Haus is a nice place if after a good filling meal, my experience was well received. Menu is simple and easy to navigate, staff are polite and helpful if you have any questions. I had a chicken platter which came with poppers, wings, boneless chicken and some loaded patato skins. Everything was delicious and the sausage were an amazing combination. All in all a good time and a filling meal ☺️

Family of four for evening meal. Daughter wanted a hot dog, which I had seen on online menus, but now off the menu, was reassured could still have but charged an extortionate amount for it. Shared a Legendary Mixed Grill (£55) between 3 of us, would have been enough for 4 of us (especially if we had upgraded the fries). Quite a bit of fat in the beef brisket which was disappointing for smoked meat. Spicy rub wings were brilliant. Very friendly service.

Had a meal here and really enjoyed it! Although the burgers are quite steep at nearly £20 the quality and taste was epic. The dish came but not really as described and were not the best.. chips ordinary like macdonalds not skin on. Coleslaw just bog standard. But ...I would visit again.

We came here for the first time as we are not from around Cardiff, the food was delicious and we got told that it was their brand new menu, the burgers all sounded delicious however they don’t do hotdogs like shown on website. Our waitress made our first time here special, if I remember her name was Lowrie we would definitely come here again!

My family and I recently had the misfortune of dining at Smokehaus Cardiff and I must say it was an incredibly disappointing experience. From the moment we walked in, I could sense an overall lack of professionalism and attention to detail. Firstly, the service was abysmal. After being handed the menu our assigned wait staff disappeared for ages and came back after 15 minutes to get the orders, then came the long wait, 45 minutes later we were still waiting for food and it's only after my partner complained then 2 out of the 4 mains came out. The lady who served us had no manners at all not only did she slam the plates on the tables she leaned over my partners food to serve my meal. It's common sense when serving customers sat on a booth you start with the customer sat at the farthest of the table to avoid leaning over customers food. After the rude service and still missing 2 mains (for the kids) the same wait staff walked back to the kitchen and we could loudly hear say she was leaving in 5 minutes at that point our pending 2 mains was none of her concern. There and then we sent another waiter to check on our food he apologized for the wait and assured us that he would take one meal off the final bill for the delay which was never the case. The food itself was nothing short of a disaster. The burgers were as dry and hard as the current economy lacking sauce and cheese. The kiddies meal was a disappointment a very sad frankfurter and bun for a hot dog it's laughable. Moreover, the taste was bland and uninspiring. It seemed as if no effort was put into seasoning or balancing flavors. The ingredients used appeared to be of low quality, leaving me with a feeling of regret for spending my hard-earned money on such subpar fare.. Lastly, the prices were exorbitant considering the dismal quality of the food and service. It felt like a complete rip-off to pay such high prices for a meal that was nothing short of a disappointment. The only discount we received for this substandard meal/service was the 2 milkshakes for the kids that was voided. Save yourself the disappointment and find a better dining option elsewhere. Just like that a 15 year olds' birthday was ruined despite us making a reservation way in advance. Best believe I will never be going back there

Sorry but how can you call that a Caesar salad Chicken looks like it’s been in the freezer for several years. And the lettuce? How can you charge people their hard earned money for this !! Not happy smoke hous In Cardiff I was looking forward to my salad. I think you need to look at this because it’s a joke

Its been a while since I had barbecue so thought we'd try here. I ordered the brisket which was quire moist with a good bit of fat on which is something i very much like. It was a good portion for lunch, might have needed a bit more if it had been dinner but I could have ordered more sides. Service was ok and I liked the music in here. It was okay, no strong feelings about the place really. Not really bad, not really good.

Have you ever asked yourself if bats ever eat in Bbq restaurants as I sure feel like one whenever I come here. You need sonar location to navigate around here, its just dark. Luckily the food is spectacular here, especially when they showered the pulled pork with the correct amount of bbq sauce and smoke. This place would definitely be recommended by Stevie Wonder as you can’t see but just taste and smell.

Came here for our son's birthday. Wasn't too busy but a nice atmosphere. Food was delicious, a bit sceptical after seeing some reviews but all our meals were hot and very tasty. Beef brisket was absolutely wicked! Tender and really tasty. Southern Comfort burger was a bit of a handful but very nice indeed. Chips could do with more seasoning IMO but they were nice all the same. We were served by Sophie (I think that was her name) who was great. Will definitely come again to try other stuff on the menu. We were all properly full when we left, make sure you turn up hungry! 😁 Thanks for a very pleasant evening 🙌

Booked a table here to eat before we went to golf fang next door. Best idea ever! Staff were very friendly and helpful. Food was outstanding and reasonably priced! Drinks were also great. They take student discount and blue light card so will definitely be coming back here.

We didn't book but the friendly staff managed to get us a table for 8 last minute. Excellent food (Homewrecker hot dog) and quick service can't fault it.

I chose the meal ‘The Threesome’, which is pulled pork, chicken wings and brisket - £20, which is reasonable I guess. The pulled pork and brisket were soft and well cooked BUT both were tasteless and I would question if this is smoked at all. I had to add a lot of BBQ sauce for it to taste how it should taste, in my opinion at least. The chicken wings were overcooked and dry and had no flavour either. It wasn’t the worst experience I’ve ever had but I wouldn’t go back, based on what I had to eat on the day. It might be that ‘The Smokehaus’ is just the brand name but they do not smoke the meat at all. It didn’t taste like it, that’s for sure.

Absolutely amazing food and drinks I had the mini mix grill and my friend had the standard and they were massive portions 😍😍👌 The food was nice and hot, plenty of flavour and the drinks were great to nice and cold The staff were all friendly, asking how our food was and looked like they enjoyed their job. Would definitely recommend to any meat lover and will definitely return 😍👌

lovely restaurant with great priced, great quality food. myself and my friends enjoyed bottomless wings on a weekday evening and cannot recommend enough!! i had the veggie platter (boring i know sorry) and despite the lack of real juicy wings it was 10/10. great selection of food and flavourful toppings. wings came straight out the kitchen, boiling hot and fresh toppings which were adored by the rest of my party. our server LEIGH joined in with our groups shenanigans from the get go, and was a pleasure to be served by him and have our antics reflected through his enthusiasm. thanks again for the moist towelettes.

The atmosphere and service were outstanding but I'm pretty sure me and my friend got food poisoning, we both had the brisket and were in excruciating pain with our stomachs for around 48 hours afterwards. I unfortunately don't think I will come back here again which is a shame because I used to love this restaurant

We had a meal on Sunday evening 1st October. The food was very tasty. What I want to commend the Smoke Haus on was the exceptional service from all of the waiting staff. Everyone was cheerful, polite and attentive and had a lovely evening because of them.

Absolutely lovely place easy to find the food is really really good but I can honestly say I have had better. We all had different meals from the pulled pork to spare ribs everyone enjoyed their meal and only one slight problem with a burger bun and that was the bottom of it was hard to which they changed it straight away with no fuss and very little inconvenience to the meal. Overall well worth a visit and I would say that to anyone

Service excellent, atmosphere and decor great however food lets it down. Starters were good but mains had dry meat and chips with minimal flavour. Such a shame as it has great potential.

Unfortunately Smoke Haus isn’t as good as it used to be, especially if you go there in the week day. On a number of occasions I have gone and the food was extremely dry. The only thing that is enjoyable is the nachos. Brisket on the past 3 times have been dry and so have the ribs. Really is a shame because the staff are always great, just unfortunately, the food let’s them down lately :(

I enjoy it here, good atmosphere and I like the food. Not cheap but not OTT either. Had the Hog Father burger and was very tasty and filling.

FYI.The mini mix grill is enough for 2 normal people! But enjoyed the food. Also Chicken wing night is really good.
