We've been going to the sloop for many years and it's become more or less part of a tradition to go there for a drink.Me and ma went at lunch time and just wanted a sandwich to share, we ordered a crab sandwich which when it came was just a sandwich with some watercress on a warm plate , there was more watercress in the sandwich than crab.We were so disappointed. We had a wine, an orange juice and lemonade and the sandwich , it was £30!! We don't mind paying the price for something good but this was not good.Gutted to be giving this review 🥲 We're not tourists , we live in Hayle so quite regular to St Ives.

So on our first night in St Ives we thought we'd visit the famous Sloop Inn for a few drinks and some food! I'm really sorry Sloop but as soon as I walked in I knew I couldn't eat in there - it was so grubby and the tables were sticky, wet and full of other peoples glasses. Needless to say we didn't return. It really needs a good clean!

Although the meal was tasty it sadly was over priced for the quality. I ordered the fish cakes served with sea salt fries & salad well it was fries (McDonald’s are as good) and cress no salad! When asked if the meal was ok I asked where my salad was as I had some pea shoots the barman told me it was cress 😂, No apologies just I’ve had your money put up with it! No wonder all the businesses are saying how quiet it is everyone is going aboard again!

I'm absolutely guttered at the state of the Sloop. We've been coming to the Sloop for years (20+ years!!) and unfortunately it's just gone completely downhill. 1. There are now plungers in the ladies toilets covered in... you know what... 2. Menu is now completely over priced for what you get. 3. The ICONIC Sloop Club Sandwich is GONE!! 4. Men's toilets absolutely stink of urine even when just walking past. 5. Drinks are now expensive as hell! 6. The pub was completely empty inside (every October it's been busy and full and now it's just a dead atmosphere). 7. It seems to have been bought by a company that's stripped the "traditional" cornish pub vibe away. I'm honestly absolutely guttered. I hope the management will see this and know that my whole family of 10 will be so upset to see the Sloop in a completely different light. Honestly, one of the highlights of our holiday was coming to the Sloop to have a Sloop Club Sandwich. (Yes, I know it sounds petty and dramatic, but christ the Sloop Club was bloody beautiful!!!) In all honesty, the Sloop Club lost out on a hell of a lot of money today. "If it's not broke, don't fix it".

Visited the sloop today approx 1.00pm. Served by a very rude female employee. Waiting to be served a glare was exchanged then she served someone else. Experiebced this before. After 60 years of coming here she obviously didn't want to be there 🙄 We ordered drinks eventually wasn't busy. She shouted accross the bar 1 spot of lime. Sounded like a part in doc Martin you know But! Three times attempted to order these simple drinks doombar and larger yes with a spot of lime. Had the cash yes cash £10 note. Guess what she bought the card machine over!!! Whatever was on her mind it wasn't her job. Sloop manager please note this It is genuine comment. Ordered burger and chips with cheese (extra £2.50). Meal came and hardly any cheese on the burger! Burger was dry and very disappointing. Burger patty was sort of just lost in the bun (very small!) 2 friends ordered steak and chips with peppercorn sauce which was an extra £3.50. Sauce didn’t arrive and had to ask for it at which point, the lads had pretty much finished their meal. They didn’t have most food on the menu either. Pretty disappointing and very overpriced. Wouldn’t recommend

The Sloop Inn offers comfortable accommodation and there are often offers such as 3 nights for the price of 2, or 7 nights for the price of 5. Breakfast is included either in the pub or in their restaurant above the pub - but beware of the low ceilings! The breakfasts are excellent and there are choices so something for all tastes. Evening meals in the pub are expensive and drinks especially so, but it’s the atmosphere you’re paying for - remember The Sloop is over 1000 years old! The toilets in the pub are not to be recommended, but those in the rooms are immaculate and the rooms are serviced daily. For me it’s a home from-home and I visit several times every year, in fact I’m going again next week…

The Sloop used to have a strong local feel to it, but over the years its become run down smelly and very very bloody expensive. The staff have a hard job keeping up with who to serve next as the bar goes across two rooms. No one really knows where to queue. Unless you run your own business or have made your money "up country" It's not a place you can afford to go and meet up with friends. Sadly this place is set up as a tourist trap as it has amazing views if you sit outside. They have also taken up a very large area of the harbour front now with their benches, meaning that you have to purchase a very expensive item in order to sit on the harbour front these days. As you can imagine other businesses in the area have followed suit. St Ives business owners seem intent on pricing local people out of town

The Sloop has a great olde worlde pub vibe and we have visited many times. The last time we had the 2 steaks with wine included deal was in the summer of 2023 and it was wonderful. Home cooked chunky chips with a lovely blue cheese sauce. This time we had frozen chips and a creamy (but not cheesy) sauce, quite disappointed really. When asked by the waitress if everything was ok we told her about our misgivings and she responded "yes, I miss the chunky chips too" as she whisked our plates away...

I love this place. Maybe I'm a bit biased as I grew up in st Ives but the location and the atmosphere especially during winter with the two lovely log burners set in grand old inglenook fire place really gives a cosy old traditional feel. The owner and staff were very friendly. I haven't tried the food yet but certainly will.

We were told about this pub after it was highly recommended by a local dog walker who we chatted with during our stopover. She explained that it was super dog friendly and the staff were great there too. She wasn't wrong. We went in around 11:30am and there were a handful of people in the place. The fire was roaring and the feel of the place was fantastic. My wife got me a pint of real ale and the dog a bottle of, 'Bottom Sniffer' dog beer too. It even came with a bowl and an individually wrapped chew. We ordered our food from a very inviting menu and weren't disappointed when it arrived. The food was fantastic. The lady serving could not have been nicer. Her name was Sue and she was a genuine delight to talk with. We told her how nice the food was and she named the staff working in the kitchen that day. Sadly, I forget their details, but I thank you all as a team. By the time we left, the pub was full. We wished we could have stayed longer, but our time was limited. However, we will be back. 5 star review... I wish there were more stars to give.

Tonight I experienced the best customer service from your wonderful staff. Whilst they were preparing to close the store, I explained that my dad was very ill in hospital and my mum had requested a coffee. The staff went over and above to make sure I had everything I needed. Thank you so much. They made a very bad week much brighter. Please pass on my thanks to your staff.
