The Shurland Hotel Restaurant in Swale

Lovely hotel and great staff. If you like a quiet stay then this is definatley worth a look. Enjoyed our short stay and would definatley book again.

Paid £10 for a day pass at the gym, never again very small everything is close together and most of the machines are running machines or cross trainers. No free weights and everything is old. I would definitely not recommend going to this place.

I would highly recommend staying at this hotel, really enjoyed my stay. The staff are very welcoming, excellent service. I enjoyed the Spa all my food was cooked to perfection. My room was spotless very comfortable bed. I will definitely be visiting here again for the price the facilities included absolutely loved it here. I have also left a review on trip advisor if anyone would like a good location. Peaceful night to relax and Spa I highly recommend.

Booked the hotel as a last minute get away coming from Milton Keynes, The hotel looked rather nice online(definitely false photos) , we had the hotel booked for 2 nights, we arrived late in the evening (7pm) after travelling a fair few hours, upon arrival the staff greeted us they was friendly & helpful. We was assisted to our room, we booked a (Twin-Deluxe-Private Bathroom) Definitely nothing deluxe about the room!, The room was so small that was very poorly cleaned& maintained , A uncomfortable bed A tiny bathroom you couldn’t move in and a view of a cemetery, Our room located right above the pub, music going until gone midnight, Then people running around screaming&banging for hours afterwards. As the night went on after getting to sleep the fire alarm then was going of from 4am/5am. Several times!(set of as people smoking in the building). we decided to cut our stay short and take our losses, we stayed one night we wasn’t there for even 24 hrs. I will not be returning.

Faulty Towers .Stayed here a couple of years ago and it sounds like it hasn’t got any better. We left a day early and cut outs losses. Hope it improves as we would like to come back to the Isle ofSheppey. Good luck

Went to lunch here, and although they were still working on their A La Carte menu, they were very obliging and the new chef served us a delicious vegetarian lunch, followed by an equally delicious dessert. We will be returning soon to sample their new menu. Can thoroughly recommend this hotel, very friendly staff, and reasonably priced menus.

We did not stay at the hotel so, I cannot comment on the rooms but we went in for lunch after being in the pub opposite to watch the football. When we arrived the place was deserted. No customers in either the bar or restaurant and no staff to be seen. The bar area was cold and the toilets freezing. It was 10 minutes before any staff arrived and then 3 came in all at once. There was only one beer on draught and only one choice of white wine. No fruit juices either. We asked for a menu and the only choice of food was: turkey roulade, prawn cocktail and fish and chips. We decided not to eat and left once we had finished our drinks. The pub opposite was full and this is the only other choice of bar so something is going dreadfully wrong. It is clear the management have no idea what they are doing: polite but clueless. I don't know how they are turning a profit.

Good car park at the rear of hotel but didn't see any notice informing me. Room was cosy warm on entering but later in night got quite cold and couldn't get it warmed up. I'm staying again so will ask. Clean room and bed looked so too. Plenty of clean storage places - a great bonus. Friendly staff. Didn't use any service so couldn't rate.

We had a lovely meal from the new menu.I had salmon and sweet potato bake and my husband had a seafood curry.Delicious and very friendly service.

Liked · The only positive about this place were the staff were nice and friendly.Disliked · Not sure where to start. We had a family room which didn’t even have a kettle in. I dared not put my kids in the beds after seeing the state of our en-suite. Luckily we had brought our own travel cot. The bathroom was disgusting. I have stayed in better hostels. The side of the bath was coming off, the side of the door was coming off, it was dirty and I have attached pictures to the review. When I brought it to the attention of staff the reply I got was “I have informed the owners that the hotel is in need of work but they haven’t listened” we were not even offered a different room! Despite one member of staff saying “we need to close the room for maintenance “ and the manager agreeing with them . The manager still didn’t offer us a different room. We paid for a continental breakfast for our stay. This involved a limited selection of cereal and bread with a toaster. I even had to ask for bread to toast and for someone to bring coffee on the second morning. Again luckily I brought food for my kids. On both mornings I ended up providing our own breakfast e.g some strawberries, blueberries, satsumas, pastries. I literally brought down a bag of food from our room and set it out. Apparently the owners have said anything else wasn’t allowed because of COVID. I don’t know of any other hotels that have restricted food for their guests due to COVID. Good job we didn’t pay for a cooked breakfast as there was no chef at the hotel. Despite this being an option on booking. I could go on but I feel you get the gist of our stay. Again only positive was a female member of staff who was friendly.

Clubhouse has really improved this year and has had some great acts booked Loved the Dalefest held in August great music and atmosphere They have really great owners evenings and breakfast meals. 😋

Again another great stay, when traveling alone for work I always feel welcome, comfortable and the staff are amazing. The food as always is of a high standard and then rooms clean and comfortable.

First class food in very comfortable and friendly Restaurant.The Staff were friendly, helpful and more than happy to deal with all our requirements. All the facilities were on the ground floor and easily accessible. I would recommend this Hotel very highly.

We have eaten here a few times since it reopened. The food is nice, simple and fresh and the prices are great. The portions are also large. Good pub food in a really nice setting. The new decor has transformed the interior and a lot of care and attention has been taken by the new management. Can’t wait to come back and try the new afternoon tea menu.

What a lovely stay, the staff were amazing and had upgraded us because of our anniversary, the room was lovely and very clean the breakfast was very nice and very well presented and if you wanted any changes it was never a problem, they would accommodate you which was lovely, the location is so quiet and so surreal if you want a get away break, and the gym, sauna, jacuzzi is there for you to use, the menu at the evening was out of this world, well cooked and it takes your taste buds on a journey, and if you have a electric car it has hook ups for you too, there's plenty of lovely walks and fresh air, so you ain't gonna just recharge your car you are going to re charge yourselves, definitely go back, its a diamond lost, go and enjoy, because we did xxx thank you shurland for a lovely and enjoyable stay xxx

Brilliant food and beer when staying at this hotel for work. Reasonable prices. Can highly recommend the burger it was cooked perfectly.

Stopped here for lunch while on a trip to the isle of sheppey, really lovely people who made us feel very welcome and helped to accommodate us and our two large dogs! The food was really good and large portion sizes too! Looks are deceiving as looked like a pokey place from outside but it's a tardis with a large dining area and lovely garden!

Visited twice nice bar with friendly people food was great and very good value for money would definitely recommend to others

Brilliant venue clean and has everything you need! Will be trying the food there very soon! Looks like a very nice little pub as so far have only visited the hall upstairs.

Stopped off the staff friendly,thought the choice of beer poor. Coffee and soft drinks good. Food was fairly good. This establishment looks better than it delivers. Having said it is probably worth a visit if your in the area.

Visited in February, mixed grill was lovely, slow service, no table service had to keep visiting the bar for our drinks. Passed here today June16 and it has closed down Let's hope it opens up again soon and the new owners can turn things around.

Standard pub food. dirty tables that smelt of stale beer. Not welcoming. No one at bar so far to find someone to serve us. Dirty cutlery

Llegamos el sábado a mediodía para una cena para dos. Una cálida bienvenida, el servicio es bueno, pero no son agresivos, la comida estupenda y muy razonable. Todos los productos frescos, y el home made torta de carne, no podría ser mejor! Una pequeña observación...

I've always thought The Shurland was a nice place. It's very local to me but seeing as I'm not a big drinker I rarely go in. At the weekend I was there for a Christmas works party. We had a three course meal and entertainment. I am a vegetarian and was assured I'd be able to eat, I pre ordered what I was having as did everyone else I work with. My starter was fine... My main came out and because I trust no one I inspect everything. Under my parsnips I found meat. This disgusted me. It wasn't a lot of meat, just traces. Looks like it came from cross contamination. Any good kitchen should have separate utensils and boards for vegetarian/vegetable courses. I believe it's compulsory. I was so disheartened and upset. I obviously ate nothing and went hungry for the night. What a shame. It put such a downer on my evening that I came home early. I wouldn't trust anything that place cooks and won't be suggesting it to friends and family anymore. On arriving back at work and discussing the evening, no one had a good thing to say... What a shame, the meat dishes seem to have been pretty bad too...

Six of us had the Christmas menu on the 14th. Being a Monday, we had the restaurant to ourselves and the waiter was most attentive. The food was delicious, well cooked and a great selection of fresh vegetables. We will certainly go back.

Stayed at shurland dale holiday park and went here for food and must say it is amaxing staff really friendly and the service was quick and painless would definatly visit both again.

We visited the Shurland hotel on Saturday 14th November a party of 6 in the afternoon for a relaxed meal.The whole experience from entering the hotel was a pleasure the staff were very attentive and accommodating , we did not feel rushed about making a choice from the very extensive menu at very reasonable prices.I can't recommend The Shurland enough the food was amazing , service was great , and shall certainly be returning .

I have read a few reviews on this place.."pleasantly surprised " ! Well I was not! After being served a glass of wine that was only cool...not chilled...we ordered cray fish cocktail..I only eat this with lemon and tobasco " yes we have it I was told....only to find the driest slice of lemon served up....tobasco..!.." I just run down the shop and get some"!..towards the end of my starter it arrived! After that...we had two roasts put on table..not ours! ...poor couple behind looking on ...muttering " bet there ours!"...roast arrived.....with the smallest portion of frozen microwave veg I've ever seen.....the carrots should have bed pensioned off a long time ago....batter pud....rock and hard comes to mind!..., any way... We sent it all back..never paid bill....I had a pack of pork scratchings and TIN of gin an tonic from happy shopper opposite on way home........o and to top it off....the complementary sorry wine I was supposed to get! ......I sat there like a lemon waiting for it ! Grrrrrrrrrr

Hotel was very clean and simple. In the evening me and my boyfriend had food in the restaurant from the new A La Carte menu, which was amazing. The service we had from the staff was friendly and they would do anything to keep you happy. The overual experience from our stay was delightful, would definitely recommend to any person, from business, couple, family, or solo.

amazing staff, food and very clean You cannot fault anything about this hotel they are so helpful If you are not happy with your room then just ask they will do anything for you plus there is a spa there although i a disable traveller i did not see this i was only there for a short amount of time rates are reasonable also

We have a caravan at leysdown and after a wet week break we needed some veg, we went up to the shurland and we were pleasantly surprised as the food was outstanding and reasonable priced. Lovely decor friendly and hard working staff made it a joy to visit. 4 adult meals with two portions of garlic ciabatta bread, three fosters and three diet cokes £50.

Nice place and no problem with the service but..chefs "special curry" was extremely bland. A piece of chicken with a sauce over the top is not a curry!

the hotel is very average for what you pay, while the food is ok for the price, the hotel is nice inside and has a nice outside area.

My wife and I where on holiday nearby and decided to go out for a anniversary dinner. After checking the TA reviews we thought we would check it out. We are both soooooooo glad we did. The staff where very helpful and lovely, the venue is clean and inviting. We where very politely advised the food could be up to 1 hour due to a large function but the food arrived 30 mins later. My wife had a lovely chilli and I had the best burger I think I have ever eaten in my life (self appointed burger master right here). I would recommend this place to anyone. The only criticism's I can give would be that the decor needs a shot of colour and why are you not 2 mins down the road from me!!!!! Lol thank you Shurland for a wonderful anniversary dinner.

No bad review Intended ...We stayed at shurland dale via park resorts and was astounded at the lack of place to dine out ?? =0 literally apart from shurland in village which at this point was last day into our 7 day holiday but shock horror food was amazing service too had lovely food drinks etc was great thank you! Shame found you too late!!

Visited with husband and son for breakfast as non hotel guests. We have been asked to sit in the bar whilst the cleaner has been hovering as we weren't allowed to sit in the restaurant with other guests?!? Coffee machine was broken so couldn't have a coffee, no menu available, breakfast were cold and served without any toast or bread although it states on their website. No children menu available and to top it off the manager is on holiday leaving the staff to run the place. Staff was friendly but it explains now why the place is always empty. As local I will not ever visit again. With this kind of service I won't be surprised if the place will be shut soon

lovely hotel, friendly staff, nice clean on suite bedroom big enough for our family of 5 , only downside was the view from the bedroom was the cemetery , I would definitely go back if needed to

After a very disappointing stay at Warden Springs holiday park, the Shurland was a beacon of hope. Their restaurant was booked by a party, but we were told we could order food and sit in the bar area, which was still comfy and had a good atmosphere. I ordered a mixed grill and my partner had ribs. The good was GREAT. brilliant portions and good prices, and it tasted perfect. Can't say anything about the beer as I was driving so only had coke!

Nice hotel, very friendly staff, good amenities, good breakfast, good entertainment on Saturday night.

I pass the Shurland about ten times a week, resturant never seems to nave many people in. I can not understand this, it is a good place to eat. I have had a sunday lunch and two evenning meals, all have been very good and a reasoable price.

Lovely meals at reasonable prices , lovely atmosphere and helpful , happy staff . Recommend anytime . The Shurland serves bar meals and also meals in their restaurant . Specials board also available ......Hot meals , sandwiches and snacks ....all LUSH

The Shurland combines Pub, Hotel,Resteraunt and fitness centre in one location, The staff are very helpful, the food is excellent and the bar welcoming. Located in the heart of the village it is well worth a visit

Lashings of meat, veg and potatoes.... nicest roast dinner that I haven't had to cook myself!! Extremely reasonable prices too and great service from friendly staff..... we will be eating there again without a doubt!!

We are out of season but the full menu choice was available with good children meal choices, great value but limited gluten free options. Staff really helpful and suggested alternatives and changes to the menu to accommodate our need for gluten free, this was very helpful. Dog's allowed in the outside area.

We have been to the Shurland Restaurant about 6 times now at first it was quiet expensive .But they are now doing a 2 for £14 deal and it is really good value for money with a choice of about 10 different meals you do not both have to have the same dish we will be going again SOON!!!!.They also have a Kids Menu and you can also eat in the bar if you can't book into the restaurant,

My husband and I go to the shurland hotel for days of study. I have to say that I always find it quiet and peaceful and no one comes and bothers us. the only thing i would say that for people like us who would be there for a big part of a day, it would be nice to have bottomless teas or coffees as it works out quite expensive. the food is good, but just this one issue puts me off a little.

We had a table booked for 5pm. We have a 3 year old who was also with us. Upon arrival we were welcomed, the resturant is clean and modern and staff are friendly and courteous. I had the new yorker and hubby had the burger. We ordered from the pub menu as this was 2 for 14 quid. But we saw other people eat from the bistro menu and that looked lush as well. Our food was well presented and delicious. To be honest i would have licked the plate if i thought i wouldn't be judged. We had ginger crusted cheescake for dessert. Being a diabetic i rarely have dessert. But I don't know if the abstinance from such delight made it taste better or whether it was genuinely that good. It came with mango and black cherry compote, which i didn't lick the plate but did do a sneaky finger swipe whilst no one was looking. We ordered home made icecream with it....all i can say is oh my goodness pass me the metformin (diabetic medicine) it was delicious. Well worth the money, well worth a visit. TO THE CHEF......YOU ARE MY HERO

I booked me and my family in for a Valentine's meal (my 3 daughter's and me and my wife) when I booked I didn't really think about it being a set meal for the evening of which was not suiting for kids.. efforts were made to accommodate us bringing out kids menu especially for them the food was amazing and we had a lovely evening!Many thanks to the staff of the shurland x

Lovely pub, with a restaurant , they also do bar food, great food on both the menus you can choose of both if you want, you can eat in the restaurant or in the bar, the staff were really helpful, and very nice. Lovely atmosphere

Although we live locally,we hadn't been to the Shurland since it was modernised inside. Was pleasantly surprised at the modern interior. We went for the daily two meals for £14.00 option of beer battered fish & chips with mushy pea's, and the scampi. The service was quite fast, and the food arrived piping hot. The food was very good and we weren't disappointed, and thoroughly enjoyed the meal. The staff are very friendly especially Les, and we have booked their reception hall and buffet for a big family occasion in May. We would recommend the Shurland, for any of its facilities.

Plenty of choice. What ever you wanted they cooked for you. Food cooked well and presented nicely, by friendly staff. Nothing was too much trouble.

Went to eat Sunday evening - no meals on Sunday evening.Disappointing as there are not many other places around without a long drive.

It is three months since eating at The Shurland, and our expectations were high. We were not disappointed.The menu was presented, and it was so difficult to choose..,We work back to front, looking at puddings first, then starters, as we all have a sweet tooth! We shared a couple of terrines, amazing.(I would defy anyone buying commercial variety again) Our main meal Pork fillet, Gressingham Duck, Fish and Chips, and Sea Bass were all beautifully cooked, and presented. We had only a glass of wine each, a crisp, chilled Sauvignon Blanc. Lovely to be offered Iced chilled water. No pressure here to purchase bottled water, great.thinking .Desserts were only chosen by three of our party, and we made excellent choices, Lemon and Lime Cheesecake (To die for) Homemade Coffee Ice Cream so tongue tingling! A beautifully relaxing atmosphere thoroughly enjoyed. Will be back!!!

We had a wonderful relaxed dining experience at the Shurland Hotel. We took my mother in law for lunch for a Mothers Day treat. The food was absolutely delicious. The portion sizes were generous and presenred beautifully. The sevice was pitched just right. The staff were attentive, polite, witout being intrusive. The decor of the restaurant was lovely. Excellent value for money. I would highly recommend this restaurant and we will definately return in the future.

I went up to The Shurland today for sunday lunch with my parents. I hadnt been there for a considerable time to eat dur to a bad experience but I can say that you can forget the old reviews, it has changed totally. The bar area and restaurant area had received a huge make over and looked very swish and modern.We were shown into the restaurant area and presented with the menu. There was a limited starters choice to be honest, maybe it could be expanded in the future. Dont get me wrond though there were some nice choices. The starters that we ordered arrived quickly and were very nice. Myself and my Dad had the salmon done 3 with a mustard dressing which was very nice and my mum had a terrine of pork belly. We chose Sunday roast as the mains, chosing Roast Beef & Roast Lamb. This arrives on a big plate with lots of nicely cooked meat on all of the plates and roasties with yorkshire pudding. Veggies vere served in seperate dished and were vooked nicely tooI would recommend The Shurland to anyone. The staff were very poilite and efficient and the food was very nice, but I would suggest the expanding of the starters

With my wife and brother & sister in law we enjoyed a wonderful meal from a comprehensive menu this evening at this restaurant,Its our first visit to this establishment for some time and i cannot comment too highly on the quality of the food, the service and the price. We have travelled off the Island in the past to eat,in the belief that there wasn't sufficient quality eating establishments here, but having visited the The Shurland Hotel Restaurant i have been proved wrong.We will return frequently.

I have eaten at the Shurland's lovely restaurant three times recently. Once with a group of fifteen ladies from our fitness group, once to celebrate my husbands birthday and last week for a girlie night out. Each time the food has been great. The menu choice wasn't vast, although something for everyone. There is a good separate vegetarian menu and on one occasion there were some specials on offer too, would like to see this option all the time. The food was all freshly cooked and service was very quick. All of the food was well presented and tasted good too. We were offered in jug of iced water along with warm bread rolls, very appreciated. Service was excellent, polite and the restaurant was warm, clean and welcoming. We will be visiting again soon with friends and hopefully the word will spread that at last the Island has a very descent restaurant to dine in. Keep up the good work.

We visited the Shurland Hotel Restaurant on the 25th January in the evening for the first time.Some objective points are:-The car park could do with better lighting.The entrance at the rear of the hotel was clean, modern and quite im pretty impressive. The welcome at the modern bar was warm and we were all made to feel welcome.We were first in and the table, chairs etc were comfortable and the surroundings pleasant. Nice clean glasses, knives, forks and crisp cotton napkins. The waitress greated us politley and passed the not too fussy menu's around.A basic choice but you would be hard pressed not to find a choice.A couple of small issues. We weren't made aware of the specials. We were not given a wine menu but told of three whites and three reds. We did find later there was a comprehensive wine list and reasonably priced.The food was well cooked altough some of the starters were a little overdressed with salad dressing.In saying that we were all pleasantly surprised by the portion size and quality. The home made ice cream is a knock out.All in all we had a good time and we were attentively looked after. We will go again.I hope they carefully pay attention to the details. Maybe add more choice to the menu and grow on reputation. Sheppey needs a good quality restaurant that is a sure fire consistent bet.If they continue like this then the Shurland has the makings to be just the place.We will visit again to check on progress.

Absolutely loved the evening I spent with group Ladies from our Fitness Class at The Shurland.The Restaurant was comfortably and very tastefully furnished with excellent attention from the extremely welcoming and friendly staff.The choices on the menus were varied and represented good value for money.I thoroughly enjoyed all the delicious food I choose from the menu and was so pleased when our Fitness Instructor asked the Chef to come into the Restaurant so we could thank him personally for our lovely meals.I will definitely be going to The Shurland again for a Sunday Lunch and have recommended it to a friend to book the Restaurant for a Lunch function later this year.

The Shurland has undergone a miraculous facelift! After many disappointing visits in the past, and the food being horrendous, I swore never to visit again! After hearing about the revamp we thought we would try it and have our staff Christmas meal there! I was pleasantly surprised! There must be a new chef who clearly takes pride in the quality of food and presentation! All 15 meals were served to a high standard and a great deal of thought had been put into the menu.The decor has modernised and gives a classy ambience.Congratulations to the person behind this transformation! Top food, great menu choice and much better dining experience. We will be back!

Visited The Shurland for a Christmas meal with a group of ladies from our fitness class. We were all very impressed with the newly refurbished bar and restaurant.The staff were friendly and efficient and the meals were served promptly. There was a good choice on the menus and everyone enjoyed their meals. Our fitness class teacher congratulated the chef afterwards. All in all a lovely evening.Will definitely be back!(Did not stay over so cannot comment on rooms etc.)

I was pleased to be invited to the grand opening earlier in the year,after the refurbishment. Ashley and the staff have done a wonderful job with the place. Great food,and excellent prices. Highly recommended.

Myself and 3 friends went to the Shurland for Sunday lunch at beginning of December and it was excellent. The hotel has been refurbished and it is a lovely place to visit and the food was delicious and well cooked, so much so that 4 of us went back again on 7th December in the evening and the food was just as good. One of the best meals we have had in a long time and certainly the best restaurant on the Island. Service was excellent also with friendly waitresses

Enjoyed a good steak for a 'spur of the moment' lunch today.....also service was excellent and attentive, without being intrusive.. Have eaten here before, both for lunch and a family celebration dinner in the Summer. Would thoroughly recommend dining at the Shurland whether as a resident or new visitor to the island.

At last, we do not have to go off the island to have an exceptional meal! Beautifully warm dining room, snow white napkins, fine dining at its best. Sunday lunch, Lamb tender and tasty, Yorkshire puddings and crispy roasties, plus an unasked for, jug of gravy. The starter, roasted mediterranean vegetable soup, was superb. Desserts to die for, would have liked to have a taster of each, but settled for a home made ice cream, and Normandy Apple tart. What is exceptional, is every item is homemade, no commercial food here. What a treat, congratulations to the Shurland, on finding the right chef, please hold on to him. Lovely to be offered a jug of iced water, gladly accepted, before asking if we would like a drink with our meal! Dining room staff, pleasant and friendly, Only one comment, the glasses did not sparkle, no dish washer for these? Will return often, and recommend to friends and family The renovations where amazing, all areas, cosy and comfortable, Good job well done. Many congratulations.

When all you want is a little bit more than fish and chips then this is the place to come! Even the carrots were surprisingly delicious! Our family, 2 adults and 3 children ate here whilst on holiday in Minster, IOS purely on the recommendation of trip advisor! The choice of food was pretty standard pub grub and the staff were friendly, however the price wasnt that reasonable. Without drinks, no starter and no desert, our main meal only came to £64.50! The coke/pepsi is not authentic and is something like Asda budget range! Quite disappointed, plus the staff couldnt add up and tried to charge us twice for drinks, plus never refunded us the horrible coke that they served even though they said they would. Couldnt get out of there quick enough.

Enjoyed my meal here, staff were friendly. very good service. only problem... No baby changing facility :(

Ate here whilst on a long weekend break in local caravan park and found good value food at good prices.

we got married in september and held our receptio here. it was very good apart from the fact we had servettes printed up and they lost them, so had to use plain white ones. they found servettes the next morning.i was'nt pleased.

The landlady is friendly and enjoys having different live bands on friday nights, therefore it can get busy. Have not tasted the food which I think is mostly pizzas but it looked very nice.

I attended last week. I had been told it was very friendly. When I got there I found the place empty till about 12.30, then all of a suden there were loads of prison officers walking in, having a drink and getting a meal. I felt this spoiled it for me as the overbearing amount of uniforms made it feel more like a prison canteen than a pub/ restaurant. They have a gym which in my opinion is not all it is cracked up to be. The beer was served in dirty glasses, or at least, they could have done with a better wash and to top it all the meal was very much slapped on the plate and took ages to arrive. I decided to travel on and not stay the night.

Not stayed here but have eaten in the pub - food is good, well priced & freshly cooked with a smaller portion option for a reduced price. Friendly and pleasant staff too. Great for lunch or an evening meal out with friends

Recently moved to the Isle of Sheppey and thought we would try some of the restaurants. The refurbished Crooked Billett (part of the Shurland Hotel) were offering a 20% discount on food so we gave it a try. Sadly we were disappointed. The Restaurant was more like a canteen, very basic. We had a view overlooking the courtyard and church, would have been perfect but for the overladen ashtray outside the window, which could not have been emptied for weeks. The waiting staff (apart from one young girl) must have have frontal labotomies. No character, just very dull. The food was mediocre but I have to say my steak was excellent. They need some character to the place, some soft music and some big plants or something to give you privacy. No different to a little Chef sadly.

Had a great diner here last night. The old chef is out and the new one knows how to cook a steak. Desert was really home made tooGood company and a reasonable bill at the endNext time I am going to stay the night and have a few drinks

I thought I would try out the breakfast in the shurland hotel an it was very much a disappointment. The service was awfull we had the bar staff hoovering as we ate. We were waiting a very long time considering there was nobody else there. We were not offered menus the staff told us what they did an we ordered an all day breakfast as we never saw a menu we only received half the content that she told us was on there. It was extremely over priced I paid £17 for 2 all day breakfasts and a coke. For what we received it was appalling. I will never return there as I was so disappointed.

After a meal the hotel had to put a review as food was out of this world, staff bent over backwards for us and for what we got it was very reasonable. The steak is to die for, the best I have had in ages. The kids ate better than they have done for a long while. An amazing place for a meal if you are on the isle of sheppey.
