Cosy pub with vintage pictures and models of ships. Beer tastes great, the staff is friendly and their beef burger is out of this world😋 and costs only £12 but has slaw on the side and the biggest chunky chips I've seen. I'll be back😁

Excellent little cosy pub that I stumbled upon while having a walk in Rotherhithe. Staff is nice and friendly, the food is great and a good value for money, as the beautifully presented beef burger with giant chunky chips and a slaw costs mere £12. Beer tastes clean and the interior of the pub is charming, with miniature ships and helms and vintage pictures. I'll be back

The worst Sunday roast I have ever had, lamb was tough and fatty, potatoes were anaemic. Chicken was a leg and not roasted at all- totally anemic white skin, no stuffing. Frozen Yorkshire pudding. Made me feel ill. Complained and all we got was a free plate of chips. Never again. Such a shame as expected a lovely roast from the reviews.

Came here again today, Tim still at the helm, fantastic staff and great atmosphere from the regulars... ---- previous feedback---- Came here for work and found a fantastic pub nestled in a built up housings and business estate. Lots of local customers enjoying a bit of calm away from the hustle of London traffic a few streets away... Tim (The landlord) is a very pleasant chap, very welcoming and accommodating. This pub has ample indoor and outdoor seating, dog and child friendly with toys and books on the shelves for the kiddies to use. A little pub with a big heart... Great place to get a little you time.

I don’t know if this is where Reform voters seek refuge. But everyone to the barmaid kept cutting their eye at us. It was okay for them to sing and swear but god forbid we spoke to each other and they would just glare at us. It was so uncomfortable we left. Found a much friendlier place round the corner, it had less of a strange midsommer cult vibe. Looking at other reviews, quite a few say the pub isn’t friendly to people who aren’t regulars. That’s a pattern and a problem. Avoid. In response to below: no it’s your establishment there is literally a photo of the pub.

I loved it. Just like so many true local pubs, it is the neighborhood gang and friends. We meet up here on a weekly basis for fun and some group activities. Since it's near the Mayflower pub which is insanely busy and a tourist destination in addition to locals hanging out occasionally, there is some spillover to this pub which keeps everything on the proverbial "even keel". The food is really good too and a large drink selection, all at very reasonable prices. Highly recommended.

Good Rotherhithe pub not far from Southwark Park. Two cask beers on handpump when I last visited. Lots of outdoor seating at the front and in the pretty garden to the rear, some of it covered. The pub was built in the 1930s but there has been a Ship Inn on this site since at least the early 19th century. Unusually, this pub is one of the few in England to have had two names at the same time. Until 1985 a sign on one side of the pub called it the Great Eastern, after a steamship built on the Isle of Dogs by Isambard Kingdom Brunel, while on the other side of the building it was called the Ship.

Just passing through the area at lunchtime today with the family (three adults, 1 teenager) for a quick drink. At the bar we were asked what we wanted to drink, so far so good! However, after we put our drinks order in, we were asked if we had booked a table... (it was 12.30pm on a Sunday afternoon and the place was half empty), anyway needless to say we hadn't booked a table... and that was it. The 'reserved' table to our left was for 2pm and a few other tables had 'reserved' on them but were empty. We were not offered any of these tables on a 'temporary' basis and as we had no table to sit at, we had no alternative but to leave. If I were the manager of this pub I would be disappointed with the young man behind the bar who did not have the presence of mind to keep paying customers drinking in the pub. Such a shame that you cannot go into a pub, order a drink, sit down anymore without booking beforehand. Is The Ship a restaurant or a pub? Who knows, I didn't get the opportunity to find out which was a shame.
