Came to the ship Inn for the first time to eat a Sunday Roast. Omg we were blown away. We had starter of scallops with pork belly. Absolutely delicious! I had roast pork my Husband the roast beef and I can honestly say we haven’t had a decent roast out for a very long time. Portions were spot on, and the flavours were fantastic. At last nice gravy !! For dessert we had the salted caramel Panna cotta. Yummy !!! Thank you for making us feel so welcome with our dog Hatch also. Lovely polite service and food to die for!! 100% be back soon.

Harry (Landlord) has made this pub an excellent country vibe experience. Very chilled out & inviting, offering excellent , attentive customer service, but not intrusive. The food , whilst not cheap is far above "pub grub" just totally delicious. Have eaten on 2 separate occasions and both times cooked to perfection. This pub is very dog friendly too. Just the perfect Country pub, with a lovely atmosphere. All that can be said, is"well done" you've got an excellent establishment...........

Absolutely fantastic dining experience!I was blown away by their steak. Cooked to perfection, it was juicy, tender, and bursting with flavor. The seasoning was spot-on, enhancing the natural taste of the meat without overpowering it. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, making it the perfect setting for a special meal. The staff were attentive and knowledgeable. I can't wait to return and indulge in something incredible again. Highly recommend this gem to any pub grub lover! Five stars all the way!

Second night opening under new management, so what can I say, the service is second to none, seamless and faultless, so friendly, accommodating and willing to explain if you need clarification. The atmosphere is welcoming, a real relaxed dining experience. Lastly, the food is absolutely outstanding, and as much as possible locally sourced, well presented and a feast for the eyes and it is the best we have eaten for a while. I cannot recommend enough, that it is well worth a visit, you will not be disappointed.

What a fantastic Sunday roast. I went with my family as we all love a roast but this was so much more. Firstly, we were greeted with a wonderful welcome from the staff. We then ordered our choice of roast which was beef or chicken and since I couldn't make up my mind what to have we were offered to have both, which we did and it was cooked beautifully, in addition the vegetables were many which consisted of: cabbage, swede, spinach, carrots, cauliflower, roasted parsnips and roast potatoes with the best gravy and as a lovely surprise, crispy roasted parsnip shavings on top of a plump Yorkshire pudding - absolutely divine, best roast we have had in years and would highly recommend.

A nice pub that we visited as we passed through the area on a weekend hike. Okay prices, but its atmosphere was by far its strongest asset. We visited in the run up to Halloween, hence the seasonal photos. We didn't stop for food and the WiFi password also didn't work, which was a shame. The staff seemed to be aware, though, so could do with looking into it to boost customer satisfaction.

Unfortunately the day we went for lunch there was only one woman as front of house/ staff and she was having to do everything. Serve drinks; take orders for food. Cook the food, ond and then serve the food. She did it with a friendly demeanour and tried to please everyone. She spent her time apologise for keeping people waiting. When she was cooking it was left to us to explain she was single handed. Should have had a second to help.

A superb local pub; a real gem. Really good local ales (and there were lagers and such, for those so inclined). Really good, 'pub grub' sort of food. Don't expect a huge menu, it's well executed, fresh cooked, pub classics. The landlady and team are really welcoming and great fun, as are the locals. I'm sure that with enough warning, they could accommodate all sorts of parties / requests. However as a visitor walking in from the cold, I could not have been made more welcome, or have left happier. Oh, do beware that the (proper) steak & kidney pudding, served with mash, gravy and fresh veggies has (thrice) pushed me into 'food coma' territory. Make sure your appetite is up to it.

Worst meal I've ever had, we ordered the roast and most of it was inedible. Raw veg which you had trouble pushing your fork into and the frozen Yorkshire puddings appeared to have come straight from freezer to plate as still very cold in the middle, the starter of whitebait was limp and soggy, just to name a few problems. The embarrassing thing is, this place used to be lovely and I've recommended it in the past! Complained, but the manager refused to talk to us, initially offering an insulting 3% discount via a young waitress. Very poor

We had a surprise 70th birthday party for my father in law we have been here afew times it’s really nicely decorated clean and the staff are amazing. the little pub that has a really nice feel to it and we managed to fit nearly 30 people upstairs!! We were made to feel so welcome and the food was really really good in every way portion size was plenty tasted amazing very well presented and would definitely recommend we will be back for sure!! The ladies really did go above and beyond to make sure we had everything needed to make the night special the lighting was really nice in the evening with well placed lights that give off enough light to see but dark enough to create the perfect atmosphere for an evening meal. Like to give a special mention the the chef as she had never cooked for so many people in one sitting the pressure was on but everyone got their food on time there was adequate time between courses and not a single complaint or mistake everyone had a lovely evening from the first drink we ordered from the barmaid to saying thank you and goodbye to them all at the end what lovely people service food and pub thank you for everything

I helped to organise and attended a party upstairs at the ship. From start to finish June, Sammy, Drew and the chef who worked their socks off on the night the whole staff made organising it so easy. Nothing was too much trouble for the team, and what a team! I worked in hospitality myself for 20 years and understand what is and isnt possible .. the team at the ship made everything possible! Living 250 miles away i couldnt get there myself until the day of the party but found it easy to communicate to arrange everything via e mail and online. The food on the night was amazing, the chef had no trouble with their timings and everything was bought out hot and in good time to allow us to not be rushed between courses but neither were we waiting too long. The timing was just right. The food was delicious and everybody got what they ordered and everyone thoroughly enjoyed their food. We had someone gluten free and they were able to order off menu to fulfil their requirements. Although the pub is a little out the way off the main road it is well worth the travel, views in daylight are of the creek and boats and all very pretty and twee. Pub was very clean and hygieneic and the staff really really cared! I would have no hesitation in reccomending the ship for both private parties and as the pub side itself. I just wish i lived closer to be able to make it my local.

Sad to share this review. Beautiful pub and setting and lovely staff...but got the roast today. Really really poor, veg all undercooked and carrots hadnt even been peeled! Watery gravery and dry meat. Roast potatoes were barely roasted and were essebtially par-boiled and chucked in the oven for 10minutes. Was like a slapdash school dinner. Another couple were equally unimpressed with their roasts. Reviews /photos suggest we were unlucky? Maybe avoid the roast.

Haven’t been since precovid was a little disappointed. I hear it has changed hands. Menu was very basic - burgers, hotdogs, fish and chips etc. We had fish and chips, nothing wrong with it, but fairly average. Only one bar man, who was nice enough, but run off his feet, stacks of dirty glasses on the bar. Used to be lovely, and a lovely spot, but it’s out the way, it’s a long way to go for average food.

Tucked away in the peaceful Hamlet of Conyer is this gem of a pub. The inside is definitely decent enough, but we like going there when the weather is warmer and sitting outside. We didn't eat during our last visit, but we looked at the menu and decided that we would return soon and try the food which looked appetising and seemed well priced. The Ship is surrounded by some incredible countryside and it is well worth exploring by bike or taking a walk around the area. Nice little spot with decent views from some of the tables. Nice big stove fire and someone’s spent a fair bit of money on the decor and it shows. Staff are all friendly, professional and helpful. It’s just the food that lacks any oomph. The menu is dishearteningly basic with no flair or imagination, just standard stuff you’d find in any greasy caff. The owners could transform this place with a revamped menu and a few changes in the kitchen, this place would fly! I’ll be coming back regularly for a drink but I’ll pass on the food until they decide to up their game (if ever)

We decided to go for lunch for my friends birthday last minute. The setting was lovely, very nice table in the shaded area of the garden. The food however was poor. We had a burger with hallomi and bacon. The burger was full of grease and was chewy but this wasn’t the worst part. Half way through my lunch I found a black hair on my food so I stopped eating. Oh dear - quite the worst culinary experience I’ve (ever ?) had to pay for. On the basis of modest expectations I thought I’d keep it simple : Ham, fried egg & chips…… disaster ! If a teenager cooked this for you - they could probably have done a better job. The chips were undercooked; the ham hacked & (correctly) hidden from view & if the egg had been fried and/or kept warm for less that 15 minutes - I’d be shocked. The closest thing to vulcanised rubber I’ve ever been served. The roast beef is overdone in a 1970’s : cook it to death manner with period vegetables. Just food at its worst. This is a lovely looking pub, fine for a drink, but please don’t waste your petrol money getting here (parking is in any event limited) unless you want to walk a dog & just have a drink (go at high or low tide ideally). Even the toilet has an empty liquid soap dispenser. Inexcusable. Really - if you can’t find better - you have my sincerest sympathies. One positive note, the front of house/bar staff try very hard, but avoid all the food unless it’s a bag of crisps.

We arrived and they said we have already got your group in upstairs, so that was the first mix up. They finally seated us but in different areas. We all ordered our food which took ages then when they finally started to bring to the tables it wasn’t quite what people had ordered but the staff was walking up and down with the food on plates which by this time not only was it not quite what was ordered but was now getting cold. Finally everyone had food. Unfortunately the food wasn’t up to much I don’t think anyone in the group was satisfied. I asked the waitress who brought mine over what fish was it she then asked the staff behind the bar and a young lady looked and said it’s fish. When our group representative went to speak very quietly and respectfully about everyone being dissatisfied a local man who had had too much to drink wanted to pick a fight and started throwing his weight around till members of staff and other locals who knew him had to quiten him down. We’ll that spoilt the evening So I don’t think we will visit there again.

Not good at all. Seems to have changed massively since we last ate there a few years ago. When we arrived we found that the menu was different to the one on the website, which was disappointing as the actual menu was very limited. When we asked about this we were told they hadn’t updated their website. We ordered only to find what we requested had run out. So we changed our order. We waited 50 mins for the food (beef kofte) and when it arrived it was so overcooked. In fact, I can’t remember the last time I ate something that was that overcooked. The kofte were like cricket balls; super tough and dry. Not pleasant at all. On a positive note, the pub is dog friendly and the staff were lovely. Shame they are being badly let down by the kitchen.

Was hoping for a nice cut of ham and homemade chips for the price paid + maybe 2 eggs? Either way, it was very clean, friendly and a pleasant place to be. The specials of the day looked exciting. Visited the ship again after a disappointing first visit. The roast however this past sunday was spot on. Beautifully cooked beef and stunning roast potatoes! Food came out fast and service was great! Going again this weekend for more!!

Why give the options to add extras in your drinks but not actually put it in. Twice I’ve ordered from here and they can’t even add in simple things like syrup

We had our UK wedding Reception at the Dutchman after getting married abroad, Caroline was amazing, made sure everything was exactly how we wanted, the staff were fab, the running of it all was completely smooth. They all went above and beyond. Thank you all of you 😊
