We had our UK wedding Reception at the Dutchman after getting married abroad, Caroline was amazing, made sure everything was exactly how we wanted, the staff were fab, the running of it all was completely smooth. They all went above and beyond. Thank you all of you 😊

😍 lovely pub, lovely food, great prices 😀 we always go for a Sunday carvery at The Flying Dutchman whenever we can. 🍧 Even during the week when we have had meals here they have been great value for money and a good size. 👩‍👦The staff are friendly and professional, the atmosphere and decor of this pub makes it a joy to visit 😀 We will be back ⛵️

Wow, what a fantastic meal, the service and efficiency was perfect

Had a lovely carvery here on Sunday. We all enjoyed it. Only 2 slight negatives were that you're only allowed one Yorkshire pudding, and the dessert took a while to come out, but the family all really enjoyed the puddings so it was worth the wait. Will go here again.

Good food lively pub but not intrusive.

Not up to normal standards, One of our group waited over an hour for his meal! Both our Pork's were burnt, Salmon pie had one small piece of Salmon in it and lots of Sauce. To make matters worse all our real ales were like vinegar. Won't be using this place on any other day other than a Sunday until the standards rise again like they used to be! In response to the (owner) my wife left her pork chop and DID NOT eat it as stated. The waitresses response was that as it had been char grilled we should expect it to be partly burnt! The real ale had to be changed whilst we waited as the barrel had already gone before two of our party got their drinks!

Its something of a wonder to me that this pub stays open. IWe have visited several times over the past few years and apart from one summer Sunday, it has always been very quiet, apart from some of the customers. The front bar room is extremely cleverly decorated as the inside of an old wooden ship and I do enjoy that. Since our previous visit a pool table has been installed. With one rare exception, we have always found the staff to be helpful and friendly and that is probably why we have returned every now and again.

Haven't been here for a while (shame on me) However to walk in today & discover the 'glow up' what a surprise the painted ceilings & decor instantly make you feel transported sets the mood for intimate dinning. We chose the carvery & was not at all disappointed especially being a veggie - so much to choose from! Highly recommend & must add what a great venue for events too be it a family celebration or corporate. Staff were exceptionally friendly especially the young man Lewis & the highest standard of cleanliness could be seen across the board from all staff. Thank you for a great Sunday for me & my family.

Absolutely amazing. So helpful great choice of menus and catered for all.. Both the meal and evening buffet were outstanding. The staff were polite and attentive. Venue looked amazing . We have received so many compliments. Thank you all for helping us have a day to remember. Definitely recommend!

Proper little gem this, tucked out of the way but for a summers evening a pleasure with pleasent staff and huge portions to boot

Just had an amazing meal at the Flying Dutchman. Husband and sister had the carvery whilst I had the salmon parcel from the special board ...couldn't fault it. 10 /10 and would definitely recommend it

Went out to dinner tonight, the food was delicious as always , we’ve been here a few times since we moved to the island , but tonight was a huge disappointment , the bar person joked your sitting out side , we might just as well have been , we were seated in the conservatory no heating a draft blowing the decorative window dressing out like they were breathing , our dinners went cold quickly and we walked away like frosty the snow man , it is unacceptable to seat any body out there when it’s this cold , when paying the bar person was rooted to spot, wouldn’t move up the bar to talk but shouted along the bar and wasn’t helpful at all they just smiled and said yes it’s cold in the conservatory , walked out the door to a face of smoke being blown out by an inconsiderate smoker on the doorstep , have to think big time about returning here

Normally it's the best fish and chips on the island, but not today, the batter was so hard couldn't get my knife into , over cooked , I know it was very busy but not good for the price ,

Very warm welcome in this slightly hidden gem.of a pub, great portions good price, servers are well trained efficient polite and almost unseen. (Which is great!) Had a double cheese burger and fries, but would also recommend checking out their specials board!

Food over priced Ordered the sea bass and salad at a cost of £18 and received one small fillet on a bed of lettuce ! My wife had chicken and ribs . The chicken was a puny leg which was eaten in one bite and a really small portion of ribs .

I had lasagne with garlic bread and a pint of real ale. Came to a reasonable £20. No complaints from me, decent fare and only place serving at 7pm on a Sunday evening in Queenborough. .

Normally love their Sunday Roasts but today was tasteless. Vegetables overcooked, meat chewy and gravy watery not thick n tasty. May have been a one off but sometimes needs to be said. Not a big eater but like to enjoy and taste what I eat 😘😘

Highly recommended for the carvery. The best I've had for a long time. The meat is cooked too perfection. And the roast potatoes are too die for..beautiful carvery. Be going back again very soon

Friendly and welcoming service, tasty home-cooked food. We enjoyed pan-fried skate wing and a mixed grill with all the trimmings. The beer and food were excellent. We will definitely be returning and would recommend to others.

It takes 1hour 40minutes to get hear but we’ll worth the journey the food and staff are 2nd to none

The food and service I received were amazing. I am a coeliac, and the staff were more than happy to accommodate my needs for gluten-free. Will definitely eat there in the future.

Went to Queensborough for a short day out and most places inn town were too small to cater for more than 10-15 people. The flyling dutchman was easily capable of serving several guests and we were quickly seated and served. The food and service were very good and prices reasonable. Enjoyed our food and drinks and passed a pleasant 90 minutes.

Awesome food. Been quite a few times. Never been able to finish a meal. Very good quality. Try and pay in cash like a lot of places now. As it costs them fir you to use credit cards

Popped in for a last minute late lunch and, despite that the kitchen was about to close, we were made so welcome and they arrange for us to sit in the shade as we had our Mountain dog with us. Ordered some toasted sandwiches and cheesy chips and it was absolutely delicious! The kitchen team delivered our food to the table with the greatest smile. Both landlord and landlady were so lovely and friendly and so was grandad! Will most definitely be our first choice for our next lunch on the Island. This pub is everything a great British pub should be. Thank you

Always a great place to eat! Excellent food, lovely staff and a cool atmosphere. We have been both during the week and for the brilliant Sunday Carvery. Definitely make time to check this place out if your in Queenborough.

Very impressed with my main meal of Skate wing chips and peas. My party and I arrived at 1700 as we had to catch a crew transfer vessel to 1815! The service was good with very pleasant and professional staff, the food was hot and very tasty, my skate wing was cooked to perfection and a very large portion too. The price for my meal plus coffee was under £25 which I thought was value for money. I recommend the Flying Dutchman.

The Flying Dutchman coped admirably with the almost simultaneous (unannounced) late evening arrival of three boat loads of hungry sailors. We were warmly welcomed and our dinners were just as we'd hoped for. Well done to the staff for coping so well. We've been here before and we'll be back here again. Recommended. Thank you.

We shared an excellent tasty graze board for three people today Saturday lunch time. We were looked after by the very friendly and helpful staff with a special mention to Lewis. We will certainly be back

A great nautical themed pub restaurant.

Attended a drag night, which was very disappointing. There is no structure to the show, although the singing was good, language appalling. We were a large and paid additional for individual grazing platters. What came out were two sharing platters. When we queried this, they didn't have enough boards!!!.

What can I say... I haven't been here for years as moved away...what a disappointment. The inside is completely different...not cosy anymore. Bar varnish is peeling, the toilet doors were dirty..it just looks tired and run down. I chose the steak...it had so much gristle I fed it to the cat! Staff were lovely though and very helpful. Won't be going back. I took my son for a birthday lunch... he had chicken wrapped in bacon... it was OK... nothing special. Felt sad for the place 😞

Haven't been here since my younger years when it was just a pub with not bad food. Well things change and the whole experience is completely new The bar is marvellously decorated to look like a ship very inkeeping with the name. The food was very nice and extremely well presented The staff couldn't be more friendly with the chef being happy that you are which was nice to see. The Guinness was cold and smooth 👌 The outside space is very welcoming and could see that being a perfect spot for a sunkissed afternoon. I shall definitely be going back

Lovely pub with value for money meals in attractive surroundings with friendly staff.

We had a fabulous evening here celebrating a very special anniversary. Poker Blackjack and Roulette tables were a huge success Caroline and Kev were extremely helpful and accommodating. I couldn’t help but notice the lovely range of ales they had on offer. Would definitely recommend as a great venue with great staff and atmosphere.❤️♦️🎲♣️

Our first time in Isle of Sheppy and unsure where to go to eat. Our initial thoughts standing outside this venue was one of thinking 'let's go find somewhere else'. But with two hungry boys and an urgent need for the toilet we decided to just go in and give it a go. I am glad we did 😊. The food was lovely and the staff were lovely, friendly and helpful. They were short staffed so we had to wait for our food but our food was worth waiting for. Is it 5 star dining..no. Was it tasty... yes. The fish was freshly caught that morning and portions were big. The boys enjoyed their burgers. Looking forward to going back in a few weeks

Food was lovely, toilets clean. Only problem was the staff, rowing in front of customers. Really embarrassing to listen too and a terrible thing to witness. More staff training needed, no management to even see.

When waiting to order food, I reached the front of the queue and was promptly ignored by the young lady, who had been asked to do something else. She didn't even apologise for keeping me waiting. I did draw this to a young man's attention, when he realised I was waiting.

Unfortunately not worth the stars. The service was unmotivated and unfriendly. The table dirty. The quality of the food was very poor (old salad, sauces in plastic bowls).

Had lunch here. Wanted the curry but wasn't available. Chose the scampi but wished now I had chosen one of the specials as it was my birthday and first time visiting Queenborough and The Flying Dutchman.

Place was really really nice I wish I'd taken some photos. Staff were great and food was great too. Can't comment too much in the atmosphere as we went at a less busy time, but I'm sure it's great also!

Great Sunday roast lovely fresh veg and plenty of it. Meat beautiful.

Really nice food good atmosphere it was extremely busy but got a table and queue at bar wasn't too bad. Only thing I would note is they possibly need to monitor there toilet facilities a little better as they were not great.

Absolutely lovely food and garden Mixed fish grill was fantastic! Update 16.10.22: Carvery for lunch today. 3 courses for £22. Everything was exceptional. Paté and toast for starter, the paté was super peppery and lovely and smooth. Mixed meat carvery, all the meat was delicious (beef, turkey and gammon), roast potatoes and mash delicious! Good selection of sauces with punchy horseradish. The star of the show was the banoffee tart though. Oh my god. An individual tart with a heavenly filling, some kind of banoffee mousse covered in delicious caramel sauce. Enjoyed literally every bite, and we both finished every single morsel. The waiting staff were lovely, polite and helpful with a smile on their face. 10/10, a must visit, will definitely be back! Most delicious fish and chips of my life this weekend! Lovely crispy light batter on the fish and even the peas were delicious!

Went on Monday had a lovely young man who served us he was so lovely throughout our stay so polite and pleasant at all times I hope they have a employee of the month if so he definitely deserves it 😊 the food was delicious as always one of my favourite places to eat

Kept getting told almost straight after dinner we'd need to leave soon as be shutting even though wasn't even 10pm, and then harassed couple more times until was told that's it need to go! Guessing as we was only customers. Was shame as food was nice but definitely felt pushed out and hurried!

Utterly disgusted that we were so ripped off for my grandad wake. The food was awful, quite frankly the spread was embarrassing. And £600 at that!! 6 guests so far have food poisoning. Avoid like the plague!!! No disabled toilet either leaving my grandmother mortified. The attitude of staff was laughable too!

Came here with friends for dinner. No special occasion, just to catch up and spend time together. Food was fabulous, service was perfect giving us space and attention too. Nice calm and friendly atmosphere with reasonable prices.

Had roast dinner today everything cooked well but personally I didn’t really like the fact that the vegetables were still submerged in boiling water & there could of been a bit more choice of veg like swede & parsnips but over all a very good meal

This was the first time eating here having been many times for a drink. So glad we did. Food was amazing and very reasonably priced. They do a carvery on a Sunday but we all fancied something different. Every meal was perfect and very substantial. Service at the bar a bit random but ok. Meals all served together and piping hot. Will definitely be returning to try something else from the menu

Tardis - very deceiving, huge bar & restaurant in side. We had a table in old bar area which is really nice looks like an old ship inside would be my preference to sit in this area again. Food was good and tasty. Very busy, bar staff very welcoming. Also child friendly.
