Bonito pub, buena comida, hemos estado aquí un par de veces y disfrutamos cada vez. A veces el ambiente deja un poco que desear, pero en general una visita muy agradable.

Lovely pub in Polperro with a nice atmosphere. The service was excellent, the beer was good and the food was great.

We didn't have food, but the pub was great with good barstaff and a live singer who was excellent. It had a real community feel and has just been redecorated so, well worth a visit.

We all felt like we had walked into the slaughtered lamb from "American werewolf in London" which was strange as the rest of polperro was super welcoming

Very quiet on my arrival, but it's a nice pub. Love the beer garden as it over looks the river which when kids used to make boats and send them down to the harbour. Large amount of beers and local ales to, staff friendly.

A lovely friendly and accommodating pub, lovely home cooked food and great value

The weather was awful, so we popped in here for food. It was Sunday, and they only did carvery, but we weren't disappointed. It was £16.50, which seems comparable to other places in the area. There were 3 meats available, yorkshire puddings, stuffing balls, and pigs in blankets were all included. There are lots of different vegetables and delicious cauliflower cheese. We hadn't booked, but if you want, there were lots of reserved tables, and we'd do that next time. The Scottish lady serving was a great character, and the bar maid made us chuckle. We all agreed we'll be visiting again.

Called in for a Sunday lunch it was very good and good value.

Fuimos aquí un par de noches para cenar mientras nos alojamos en Pelpero, El lugar tiene un buen ambiente y la comida es buena, Pero por favor revise su factura antes de irse. A mi compañero le cobraron £ 45 por una pinta, (fácil error) Sin embargo, ha llamado un par de veces y se le prometió una llamada de vuelta del propietario, todavía está esperando. Así que ten cuidado y revisa antes de irte a diferencia de él.

Vine aquí con mi pareja para tomar unas copas, había música en vivo y un ambiente muy agradable Me sentí bienvenido por los lugareños, pero sentí que el personal del bar favoreció a los lugareños, ya que estaba en el bar que estaba claramente al lado de ser servido, pero la joven que trabajaba en el bar servía al menos 5 locales antes que yo. Esperé unos 15 minutos antes de que ella me sirviera mientras charlaba y servía a los lugareños y podía ver claramente que estaba esperando, los turistas deben ser tratados por igual.

Escuché en la vid que este era el mejor pescado con papas fritas de la zona, así que fuimos a almorzar. Buenas porciones, masa crujiente y patatas fritas eran buenas. Pub ocupado, parecía una buena mezcla de gente local y turistas. Lo disfruté.

Solid pub food and nice service! Kitchen staff checked an ingredient swap with us which we really appreciated (we ordered a vegan dish and they checked if it was ok to sub regular mayonnaise since they were out of vegan mayo).

We have lived in Cornwall for 36 years Redruth area..but for some unkown reason we have never visited Polperro ... We went from Redruth via Liskeard then branch line to Looe then local bus to Polperro ... Fabulous day out beautiful place we went to The Ship Inn for lunch... Perfect...food prepared well quick service all very good dog friendly too We will return again soon

Came here for lunch as everywhere else was rammed and glad we did! My mum had the fish and chips for £17 which she said was beautiful, crispy batter and fresh flakey fish - I don’t eat fish but it looked gorgeous! I had cheesy chips which were a great portion and cheese was proper mature cheddar tasting cheese, it was so yum! It was quite quiet and I loved the decoration with the twigs and lights on the ceiling and the artwork on the walls. We will be coming back to try more dishes (the lasagne!) when we’re in Polperro again!

Walked in and found a bar full of locals drinking. I saw this as a real positive, thinking it must make the pub good, from my younger experiences of working in various different pubs in different locations. Sat down, and we ordered both starters and mains at the bar. Couldn’t fault the bar staff - friendly and great. Food, however, was very much less than ideal. I would like to describe it as “cheap and cheerful”, but it was both expensive and bland / stale. Left very disappointed. We didn’t see the point in complaining as it seems they are taking advantage of tourist trade (which we were part of). Would not recommend. The other pubs in Polperro offer a better experience in our experience and opinion.

Visiting Polperro from Kent with the kids. Had a Sunday roast at The Ship Inn, which was very tasty and very filling. Staff very helpful and super friendly. Didn’t have a booking but recommend for a Sunday. Had one table free. Great atmosphere and good music too.

Lovely pub - great staff who are very efficient. Prices good as are the range of drinks. A lovely garden which is a real sun-trap. Great menu, reasonably priced and good quality. The staff went the extra mile to ensure that customers got to see the England football game last Thursday. Love it!

My family had a lovely visit to Polperro. Made even better by the attentive & friendly staff and amazing food at the Ship Inn. Very welcoming staff and locals, who we had fun chatting and hearing locals stories. We felt we were home from home. However the best was yet to come. We decided to eat and we're so happy we did. I had an amazing steak and ale pie and my wife the very tasty Barnsley chop off the chefs recommendations. We really couldn't fault any of it. Will definitely be back on our next visit. Nice to be able to speak to the chef, but who like me was from up North. Who knew our local pub back in Kent. Small world. Highly recommend this place. 5 stars all the way

After husband incorrectly booked table at the ship inn Axminster 🤦‍♀️the friendly team squeezed us in for the last two remaining roast beef carvery lunches , fantastic food , welcoming staff and the new chef is doing a cracking job . Will be back as we are here for a week .

One of the worst carvery's ive ever had. 4 dry, cold plates of food for £80... joke.

One of the worst carvery’s I’ve had in a long time. Maybe an off day but the beef was very dry. Veg was rock hard. Potatoes dry. Everything just seemed completely under done.

We went to the Ship for their Sunday carvery. The meat was pre-carved (I thought the point of a carvery was that they carve the meat in front of you) and was barely warm, served on cold plates. Not impressed!

We stumbled on this pub, which was so friendly and welcoming. The food was wonderful, I had the divine mussels, and we were astounded to find the chef, Ben who was cooking single-handedly and bashing out incredible food, the burgers looked good!!

Very friendly and a great atmosphere. The food and service was good, especially the jumbo prawns. Will definitely return.

Spent a few hours here today (8.10.23). Absolutely wonderful service. Staff could not do enough to help us to get a taxi...wonderful highly recommend.

Excellent food and service would reccomend 100% , the sandwiches were not what we were expecting , they were excellent value for money and enjoyable

Awful carvery. Meat wasn't carved in front of you. Plates hadn't been warmed. Menu not as advertised, no pigs in blankets. No cheesy leeks. No green veg e.g. sprouts cabbage or broccoli. Overpriced at £16.50. Would not dine here again

Absolutely our favourite pub in Polperro....they didn't even mind our crazy dogs lol...food was perfect every evening and portion size is fantastic...we will meet again...xx

Had lunch here on a visit to Polperro. Good pint of beer and a great meal - best bowl of mussels have eaten in a long while! Staff very friendly - even bought round doggy treats for the numerous canine visitors. Will certainly come back next time we are in the area.

We stopped in for a drink on the way back to our car and stumbled across a really beautiful pub staffed by genuinely friendly people who were glad we stopped by. Outside we enjoyed our drinks by the babbling Brook and greenery, we loved it so much we ordered lunch and the food was amazing. The pub was soo good I bought the T-shirt 🤣 Can't wait to go back there on our next visit

We only popped in for a quick drink while passing. Interestingly, it is the only pub in the Polperro Quay area that you can go in for a drink and also sit outside, unless there is another tucked away in a side street. The menu looks good and we may try it later on.

Popped in for the Sunday carvery. Superb, but especially the Gammon. The parsnips were also extremely tasty. Lovely atmosphere in a great pub. Friendly staff....

Fantastic evening. Started off with a lovely 2 course dinner followed by a duo singing. Excellent value, wonderful atmosphere.

We visited for dinner mid week in August. 2 adults and 2 children. All the staff were really welcoming and friendly. The food is amazing, cooked fresh and homemade, we all had different meals and all were fantastic quailty and taste. Reasonably priced too. Would definitely love to eat here again.

Really nice friendly pub located in the heart of Polperro. Great beer garden on the River too! Good selection of drinks and snacks and a good pub grub menu. Would recommend the blue cheese burger and prawn sandwich! Staff were really friendly and welcoming and I wouldn't hesitate to go back there. If I lived it Polperro it would be my local!

We had a late afternoon trip to Polperro and decided to eat whilst there. We called in the Ship who booked us a table for later that day. Dog and family friendly which was great for us. Food was ok, traditional pub grub but that suited us. Thanks to the team for the warm welcome

We had a superb evening meal here during our holiday in Polperro. The team at the pub were friendly and Ashley made us feel very welcome when we arrived. We can recommend the mussels and fish and chips. The mussels we had were local, from St Austell Bay, and were large, very well presented and delicious! Really worth a visit for some drinks and some food.

Called in here for the live music on a Saturday night. Our drinks were more expensive than in The Blue Peter and we soon realised that they operate a two tier pricing system. The locals pay less than tourists. The band were good but the music was far too loud so we didn’t stay long.

After a loooong walk from Looe to Polperro, food and a cold beer was definitely needed. We chose the Ship Inn, a quaint little Pub. We were served by Faye, who was a breath of fresh air, Polite, funny, chatty Loved her! The food was fantastic, great flavours, fast service and clearly freshly prepared. 🤤Would definitely recommend this place if your in Polperro 🫶🏻🍺

Went for food stayed all night. Bar staff are great food good and a large selection of drinks. We were lucky enough to go when the wreckers came in. Made our night.

We had a fabulous Sunday beef roast, and it was delicious, we did have to book, and I would strongly recommend you do so as seats-tables get used up within minutes of being open.. That's the recommendation of the quality of their food. Staff fantastic

This is my local pub. The staff are great, the service is always good and the foods nice as well. There's plenty of space to sit but on busy days, parking can sometimes be tricky but there's space across the road. They do special days too like vintage car days which are great too.

We called on a very hot day for a cold drink & stayed for over two hours! The staff were very friendly & the locals who were in were great to chat to. We decided to have a late(ish) lunch & the food was very good, as was the cask ale.

We had a day out in Polppero and came across this place on the walk back out of the village. We only had a few beers and some crisps but the place had a great atmosphere and the staff we're lovely.

Lunchtime so only those eating were in. Carvery was great and would go back again.

Just had the so-called beef and Guinness pie. Serious breach of the trade descriptions act, around 80% carrots and what beef there was seemed to be left over slices from the Sunday carvery. Felt totally ripped off.

Went off the boil for a while a few years back, now back to it's best

Had a Sunday Carvery, which we booked for 1pm. When we arrived, they had already run out of green veg. Meat was good with three choices, but the roast potatoes were cold, and I'm not sure how they cooked their parsnips, but they weren't great!...
