Lovely old pub with great history. Superb view of the harbour from the main restaurant. Proper Job beer, one of my favourites. Friendy staff and good food. In particular, the chips were aa good as I've eaten anywhere.

Perfect Sunday roast. Great service and choice. I had roast chicken and my husband had the beef. The accompanying veg was amazing, particularly the red cabbage. Really good portions too. We ordered a side order of piggies too- delicious. We were seated in the restaurant area and had a great view of Mousehole harbour. Shoutout to the really friendly manager and servers. Highly recommend.

Had Sunday lunch, roast beef with all the trimmings. Well presented and huge portion superseded only by how delicious it was. Genuinely cosy and near perfect atmosphere with a host who couldn’t have been more helpful and friendly. Possibly one of the best meals I’ve had, and all this with beautiful views of Mousehole harbour! 10/10

Sunday 1st September, 1pm slot. We booked a restaurant table, as our friends from London wanted lunch in this fabulous traditional pub. The waitress was doing her best, but then she opened the window immediately behind me, without even asking if it was ok! So I figured I'd stay quiet about the drafty breeze on my back - as she was obviously extremely busy. We ordered the pie & mash, the meal appeared....pie & chips! When we questioned the lady she insisted she had stated they'd 'run out of mash'. There were 4 of us present - we would've picked up on the 'no mash' warning as we specifically did not want chips! Finally a lad who was clearly working in the kitchen decided he'd take his break at the cosy end table by the wall. At this point we declined dessert and left. I didn't want to hang around if his mobile was possibly not on silent, meaning we'd hear every click of his phone. I assume there is a designated private area for employees to take breaks? This came across as extremely unprofessional and did not leave a good impression.

As someone with a dairy allergy, unfortunately there wasn't much choice on the menu. Their menu online has more allergen info than the qr code I was asked to scan. On the mains I could only have fish and chips. Although there was a tasty vegan dessert for after so I was looking forward to that. Considering we were one of the first tables in we had a long wait for our mains. When our food did arrive, the fish was over cooked. My husband had a pie and he mentioned it was over cooked but the base of the pie was stodgy. The kicker came when our deserts arrived. I ordered the vegan Belgian waffle with vegan vanilla raspbwrry swirl ice cream. My son who doesn't have a dairy allergy ordered a brownie with ice cream. The vegan ice cream on my dish looked identical. When I questioned the waitress, she said sometimes when they scoop the ice cream it didn't always have the swirl. A minute later she came back and took my desert away and said she'd check with the kitchen. As suspected, the ice cream I was given wasn't dairy free or vegan. It's a good thing I hadn't tucked in. If no one else on my table had ice cream, I might not have known. They did replace my dish and knocked off the desert off the bill. That night could've ended very badly.

Writing on behalf of my son who wanted to take his girlfriend for a special meal on the last night of our holiday after seeing recommendations.Booked the restaurant online. On arriving told no tables in the restaurant and had to sit in a very noisy bar instead. As they are young, they didn’t question why the restaurant wasn’t available or felt they could leave, and just sat down. Food was ok, but they left within the hour, and went to a different village to have dessert. Should be warned if you can’t fit people into the restaurant and get them in under false pretenses. Shame, as nice setting.

We waited 45 minutes to be served, when the food arrives , we discovered an issue : pizza instead salad the server proposed gently to replace it but as we did'nt want to wait another 45 we accepted it, the pizza was poor quality, crab salad was good and to finish the foccacia at 8,50£ for some toasts, vinaigrette and olives, it's a real shame, I would advice the chef to taste what is called a Foccacia in Italy and you will understand my point. In these conditions we ordered nothing more, no dessert, no coffee. The service was friendly.

What a wonderful place! Idyllic location, excellent dining and a wonderful vibrant atmosphere, the staff here are amazing! I booked to have dinner and as a disabled traveller things can be quite difficult trying to navigate to the most easiest place be it seating or generally trying to navigate to a particular location. I messaged the team beforehand explaining this and they made sure I had the best position that was both suitable for my needs AND to allow myself and my party the opportunity to take in every single bit of this pubs charming atmosphere and presence. The views out over the harbour were breathtaking. We have visited before but before my health needs changed and a few years ago now and I still remember the visit being as magical as it was on my recent visit. Food fresh and wonderfully presented. Thankyou team, we had a wonderful evening and I can thoroughly recommend to everyone that you do not miss out on a visit to this charming , historic little gem of a coastal pub steeped in history!

Having moved to the area Dec 23 I have visited The Ship Inn a few times either solo or with my friend. Such a cosy pub with a great atmosphere & events such Quiz & live music nights. Always such a warm, friendly welcome, excellent service! We visited for Easter Sunday roast yesterday. One member of staff went above & beyond to move us to a table in the bar area on request, I didn't get the lady's name unfortunately but we appreciated her kindness especially as it was a busy day! I had the chicken roast, Andy had the beef & they were absolutely amazing, so delicious, both said the best roast we've tasted in our 5 decades! It was dull, rainy & cold, so due to the atmosphere being the complete opposite, warm, bright & cosy we ended up ordering desert, more drinks & stayed for 4+ hours! Thank you lots! Highly recommended for food or just drinks

Booked this pub (for a birthday) well in advance as i knew mousehole can be busy this time of year. Our sitting was at 6:30 so not late for dinner service. First of all we had to wait while they removed customers from our table which was a bit embarrassing for all involved. Then i was told there were only 2 pork roast left and no parsnips. The server even said ‘sorry its first come first served on the roasts’- well i booked over a week ago, does that count. The reason i booked this pub was because they were the only ones that had a roast on offer. The rest of the ‘sunday menu’ was limited and not to our taste so we left. If your going to state you have something (3 dishes may i add) on your menu then you should make sure they are available for people that have taken the time to book well in advance or at least take pre orders. We were left extremely disappointed

There were 4 of us dining at the pub . When we arrived the pub was empty apart from 2 other couples. We ordered our meals one of which was chicken Sunday lunch , another was Brie and cranberry wellington sunday lunch , a fish and chips and a mushroom risotto. The two sunday lunches were ok but not really hot enough and the yorkshires were cremated so not pleasant to eat . The fish batter was burnt and so hard it was inedible and the risotto was very stodgy and dry and came without the egg which we had to ask for and came came 10 minutes later . This was very disappointing as we have had a holiday home in the village for 30 years and have been regular visitors. It would have been nice if the waitress had asked if we needed anything else with the meal ( I would have liked extra gravy ) and at some point if everything was ok with our meal .We told the waitress we were disappointed and she said she would tell the chef

The food at The Ship Inn was fantastic, and the service was perfect. Our table had a wonderful view out over he harbour and it was a great evening.

Had sea bass, bit disappointed that there was only one filet not two which I find is normal. Drinks a bit on the expensive side. Food did taste nice though. The floor in the dining area is all sticky and would benefit from a good...

Great local pub located right on the harbour. Friendly staff, dog friendly, welcoming and a great range of beers. We booked for the Sunday roast which was huge and tasty! Definitely worth checking out.

Absolutely gorgeous little pub in a fabulous location. I’ve been here many times over the years and never been disappointed. However, we came here on Sunday for a roast dinner and it was properly disappointing. ☹️ I am not a vegan, but I opted for...

Four of us had Sunday lunch here, the meals were below average for the price. At £18 for beef you would expect a good meal and generous portions. The vegetables which were plated did not stand up to the description on the menu. Roast potatoes...

We used to love popping in here when we were in Truro, you would be lucky to get a seat but now it’s take your pick. In a nutshell the place has lost its soul.

20 people from sainsbury went last Sunday . Not one meal was any good . The nights before chicken . And chips that would fly off your plate .they were that over done , used to be good a few years ago .

Festive Afternoon Tea this afternoon was very disappointing. It is clearly a stop gap to keep income trickling in between Sunday lunch and evening dinner service. The biggest issue is with the service, very inattentive, unconcerned staff not in the slightest bit interested in providing a professional level of attention. The afternoon tea was acceptable but not exactly delightful let alone memorable or to be recommend to others. Delightful setting with the hotel beautifully appointed and well decorated for Christmas, just a pity the staff were not switched on at all. Management at fault and it would appear no investment made in staff training.

For a spot of lunch, my wife and two children decided to eat here. Never again. We settled on the beef style kebabs (on a skewer). With rice. The beef was tough, tastless, rough and badly cooked. I was a butcher, I should know! Rice was microwaved but still undercooked! The salad that came with it was soggy, rotten and floppy. The best part of the meal was the kids fish goujons. We spent 70 quid (including drinks) on some of the worst food I've eaten.
