We went to The Ship last Saturday for a girls night out. There was an 80th Birthday Party going on & we enjoyed the atmosphere! Nev & Alicia made sure we had a great night even though they were very busy with the party 😜 Food was fresh & nicely presented 😍 Drinks were reasonably priced 🥂 Would recommend for a good night out with great friends 😀😀😀

We booked for a private event with around 35 people. Neville and TJ provided amazing service. The gold buffet food was lovely. The space was great and most importantly the customer service was friendly and helpful to our needs. Thank you again Neville and team !

This pub is great for a family meal out. Or just drinks. They had a reduced menu yesterday and I didn't like any of the food on the menu, so Neville arranged for me to have a plain chicken burger which wasn't even on the menu. And thank you to Jake for making it. Massive thanks to the ship and Neville and Jake especially. 🙂🙂

Really family orientated, nice vibe Kenny was our server, lovely guy, we asked for ice cream cream for the boys but made the effort to see if they wanted a sauce where as most restaurants wouldn't ☺️

Excellent local pub, value for money food, best burgers. Bar staff (especially Lewis) are great very friendly and always sociable. Friday night raffle is entertainment in itself with Nev (a great asset to the pub) always making it fun, even if you don't win

Booked for a meal after a trip to Gullivers land with grandchildren. Service was amazing and the food was fantastic. Both granddaughters who are usually fussy finished their plates and had dessert too. Definitely recommend.

Great service and a great friendly warm pub. Family all left happy after a great birthday meal, they even accommodated our family dog so he could get join in the birthday celebrations.

Visited here today for lunch table booked for 13.00 on time and sat by open fire. Lush 4 x adults and 1 x 3 year old. Staff were very welcoming and helpful providing colouring pack for child. Spoke to child. Neville and Sam were so friendly helpful and attenative. Food portion size was really good. Presentation was great to. All staff were so engaging and warm Thank you all had lovely lunch in good atmosphere. We will be back. Bonus was accepted Blue light card at Ember Inns so thank you so much. Highly recommend good food lovely staff x

Headed to the Ship Ashore for my mums birthday for dinner, was quite lively but relaxed as there was a charity quiz on. Great little pub with good food, the staff were very friendly, a special mention for Sam who was doing a great job in what was a busy evening. Overall an excellent Experience would certainly recommend a visit if you’re in the area.

We were in MK doing some shopping and were in need of a rest and refuel before we headed back home. From the moment we walked in we were made to feel at home.

Came here for drinks with friends, staff friendly and welcoming. The food coming out of the kitchen looked good and plentiful with empty plates going the other way.

Mediocre food, veg cold altogether uninspiring…. Atmosphere not as it used to be. Won’t be returning.

What used to be a thriving pub with good food is now no where near as busy as it used to be. Rarely when I have been in over the last few months, have they been able to supply a full menu & often, there has been no food served at all. I have been told several times by the changing staff that the chef is off sick. I found out the chef actually left after working there a few months. One member of staff even hinted that staff have left due to poor management.

On our recent visit to the ship Ashore at Willen, we found it welcoming & offered us a good selection of food at very reasonable prices. We found all the staff we met to be welcoming, easy to talk to & met our food orders very efficiently. Special thanks to Jake & Blue who provided us with excellent service.

This pub is really friendly, me, my husband and my sister visited on 17th June for lunch, the chef unfortunately was off sick, but they said we could get our own food and eat it there, we had fish and chips from the local chippie. My sister was in a wheelchair and needed the loo, I'm not going into details but what a lovely lady that helped us ,I presume was the manageress, What a star, you know who you are thank you so much, kindness is still in the world, hope to see you again, when we're back down in Milton Keynes, regards Maureen, xx

What a lovely welcome by Liam the manager and all of the staff. After a really tough day with my dad going into a hospice across the road I needed a stop gap for some warm food. Been before years back but never received a nice welcome such as this. A real credit to Ember Inns. Thanks so much. Ann

We went today and had a terrible time. First when ordering most of the food was off the menu, when asked I was told they are changing the menu next week so had no stock in. We were not told this when calling to book or on arrival. We ordered and over an hour later waiting I was told there was no beef left and I could still have a roast dinner and order any meat so I opted for gammon which was available for gammon and chips. Fine. 30 mins later one of our party complained about the wait and we were offered a round of drinks which we politely declined and instead we had a £10 refund given but still no food. When it finally arrived the roast dinner was a piece of meat, cold potatoes, dry stuffing ball, dry cold Yorkshire, salty gravy and cold peas. Nothing like what's described on the menu which should have had parsnips, carrots, steamed veg and a pot of gravy, also ordered pigs in blankets which never arrived but at this point we were so fed up i could be bothered to ask for them. I asked the staff member if this is a roast dinner? She apologised gave me a refund. The rest of the food wasn't great and missing so many items on each plate. Again we were told about the change of menu. Our daughters scampi and chips wouldn't have been enough as a starter and my husbands steak was okish. So many people were waiting and complaining, It was awful, please avoid and save your money. I did feel sorry for the staff as they were really up against it. So today I messed up that I incorrectly booked my table of 12 at lunch time for tomorrow. They already had a large group in but wow were they helpful and nothing too much trouble. Added to that the food was lovely and good portion sizes. Thank you. Tbh about a year ago I didn't rate the place but recently I've been there several times and each time it's been great, so keep doing what you are doing. I'll be back again soon for sure.

This establishment is indisputable proof that TLC is a vital ingredient of a successful establishment. From being a very 'tired' place it has been transformed into a valuable inviting social centre. The food has become far more than edible, a great change, good luck, you deserve it.

Daughter wanted to go for her birthday. No Sunday menu available because they'd sold out by 5.00 o clock which seems incredibly bad planning even though they still had menus advertising Sunday roast. Half menu still on offer wasn't available. Orders missing from food ....

We stopped over for breakfast on a Saturday morning and the pub wasn’t crowded at all. Placed orders for coffee and breakfast. The drinks came quickly but the breakfast took forever to come out. After waiting for half an hour we enquired with the staff...

Can't fault the bar staff & the food is always good. The ladies toilets have all been out of order for 3 weeks! We have to use the disabled toilet which has a broken soap dispenser and a temperamental hand dryer. This really is unacceptable....

I have been to this pub many times when shopping in the local supermarket. We have always had good food. Staff have always been outstanding and professional.

I understand the wait but could’ve been abit quicker. Waited nearly an hour so we would have expected the food to be so much more than what we expected. Ordered a Bacon and Mushroom Carbonara and it came undercooked, cold and not very seasoned. The bacon was alright but the taste of the burnt was stronger. That’s not how you make a carbonara to be honest. Very unfortunate because the Small Chicken Wings were amazing. Other than that the employees were lovely.

Steak was over cooked, no folks served. no salt and vinegar etc. No peppercorn sauce to go with steak. Over all, just not the best evening meal.

Waitress bought out main course whilst I was eating my starter, then rather than take it back - left it on the table and walked off and ignored me calling her.The main course was supposed to come with fries/chips and when I raised it, i was told they were making a new batch and i would get them asap... which was 15 minutes later, with the majority of the main eaten...I asked to speak to someone in management and again waited 20 mins before I left and cancelled the following evenings meal with the "front of house" girl.... she said she pass on my comments and that was it... Poor customer management at the bar as people just approached the bar instead of following the covid guidelines clearly marked, the staff subsequently served them rather than sending them to the back of the queue... I use Ember Inns quite a lot and this is the first time I have had to place a negative review but I felt I had no option - the staff could definitely use some lessons from a local plac ein Sutton Coldfield which are amazingly courteous and extremely professional in all aspects of the food and drink service they provide...

Well, we were certainly looked after by Leisha and her team. A great, safe welcome and shown to our table. They very kindly told us of the knew way the pub was running and it was simple to follow. Food was delicious and priced right. Will be coming back for sure as we felt totally safe dining there. Thanks again!

my girlfriend and I are locals to willen but for many years had been put off the food, we have been aware of the new owners for a while as we regularly drop in for a catch up with friends and have a few drinks after work or socially on the weekends.We started our night with a few drinks with the friendly staff before our friends arrived, we all decided to stay a little later than usual and order some food! This is where I wish description does the food service, I have been to many a restraut and especially restraints who claim to specialise in steaks. I have hold my hands up and can happily say for the first time this year my steak was cooked to perfection! Rump steak cooked blue is hard to come by these days especially done right, my girlfriend and friends all agreed to the food beat our expectations and we will be visiting again very very soon! I would like to thank Natalie, Tia, Shannon, Lewis, Christina and Tom for the fantastic service and the wonderful food.

Really lovely meal at the Ship, the staff are always really welcoming and friendly and my Gammon Steak was really well cooked and tasted gorgeous. I usually come in alone and always find somebody to talk to! Lovely atmosphere, will definitely return!

Today was my first visit since lockdown started and i'm so happy to see that the staff have made changes to be able to open. The tables and rules to help everyone social distance are amazing and the attitude of those working in this worrying time are amazing. They try their best are always friendly. A brilliant atmosphere to bring my family. Glad to be back!

Feels safe when you go in, they’re clearly taking Covid seriously, have an app so you don’t have to interact with the bar staff if you don’t want to. Helpful service too.

My mother booked a table at this, their closest pub with outside seating for a post COVID lockdown lunch.When we arrived we were told the app was 'not perfect' in fact it is USELESS it showed only Turkey as the Sunday lunch which was the only option you couldn't have.As the previous review the beef on the Sunday lunch was not carved it was just a hunk of disgusting meat. Even the dog had to lay down to chew it it was so tough.When I raised this with the staff they asked 'did you raise this with staff' and 'I'll pass on the feedback' NO APOLOGY.We ordered coffee and mini-puds - also not available from the App - waited 25 minutes, chased after 15, then it rained so we got a refund and left - no apology.

I love this pub especially the gents that sit on the table to the left of the bar their language is like listening to Shakespeare and i really appreciate the selection of language used very eloquent of them. the barman with the beard maybe useless but at least hes trying his hardest he should probably start washing though

We ordered 2 roast beef dinners today and I have never had such a disgusting plate of so called food. The beef was very grizzly and the veg was raw, I do not think it even saw a temperature probe because it certainly was not above 75 degrees c. We ordered a side order of cauliflower cheese which had way to much garlic in it. We did complain but no action was taken not even an apology. POOR POOR STANDARDS.This used to be a fantastic pub for food but not any longer.

Visited here on a stormy Sunday morning in February. Very pleased we came, extensive menu available in pleasant surroundings. We all enjoyed our food , portions were generous at a reasonable price. Will visit again.

I am actually sitting here as I write my review. This is a local pub to us and we have popped in to have an evening meal! The food is always ok and prices reasonable but this evening I am completely gobsmacked at a comment and attitude of a member of staff!Across the pub there are a couple of ‘Gents’ obviously have a great time extremely loudly! No problem with this at all EXCEPT every other word is a swear word ‘Mother f##%ker’ ‘F#%ker’ ‘wan#%er’ After about 15 minutes of all dining customers being subjected to this vulgar language I quietly approached the bar and asked the young man if I could speak to a manager. He said he was in charge. I asked him could he ask the ‘Gents’ to tone their language down to be told he couldn’t as it’s ‘a pub’!!!! What!? To be fair, he did approach these ‘Gents’ and although still loud, the language has improved!! Far be it for me to stop people from having a good time but for a family pub to allow such disgusting language is absolutely disgraceful. We certainly didn’t come here to be subjected to foul mouthed ‘Gents’ The barman in question did come to me at our table to try to explain that I should expect this kind of thing in a pub!!!! No apology!! A pub/restaurant needs to be a safe and pleasant place for all customers! Tonight the Ship Ashore was far from pleasant and we were supposed to put up with it!!! If this is the clientele starting to come here now and staff are ok with their bad behaviours and disturbance of the whole pub, then Ship Ashore is certainly sinking!!! We certainly will think twice before coming here again...!

I'm a regular drinker and yet rarely an eater in this often very, very busy pub, The beers are always good but the food could be better. Its unpretentious pub food, not pub restaurant standard like many other pubs around here

What a great lunch . We had booked a family lunch for fourteen people but ended up with eighteen.The staff could not have done anymore to make this a fantastic afternoon . The group ranged from 90 to 3 years old but we were all catered for. There was aproblem with the gas so no steaks or burgers but it really didn't matter as what we had was lovely. I took a cake with me and the manager put it to one side then she came out with it and all the plates. Family travelled from diffrent parts of the country and all said how welcome they were made. We didn't feel rushed or that anything was aproblem for them . The food came out quickly was hot and no one waited to be served. I can only say that the manager should be proud of her team and a big thank you from us all

Nice wine and starters But the main course was not up to standard.

My friend and I had the set lunch menu. We both had the vegetarian pasta for our main course and the chocolate brownie dessert. The main course was delicious and imaginative and the chocolate brownie was mouth watering.

Haven't been in here for months basically because the choice of real ale was non existent so I could either have a pale ale or a pale ale. Nothings changed there then

Arrived at the Ship Ashore at 10.45 to meet friends for brunch as the pub was due to open at 10 am. Doors locked no sign of anyone despite the board outside advertising brunch available from 10 a.m. waited until 11 - still nothing. As mentioned in previous reviews we have visited and the kitchen been closed but it was going through a change of landlord and we tried to be understanding as we were reassured that things would improve. A month later no one there - not sure what’s going on but don’t think we’ll waste our time trying again!

There were 3 of us meeting for lunch. You would expect the meals to arrive together as we all sat on the same table but no. The first meal was finished before the second arrived and that was nearly finished before the third. When we complained we were told to speak with the manager who was busy at that time. The second meal was actually undercooked as well. Altogether a miserable meal with friends instead of a good catch up after several months. We will not be meeting there again and will not recommend it to anyone else.

I used to go here a lot and really enjoyed it, but haven't been for over a year or so and it seems the place has really gone down hill. The food was really awful, nothing seemed to have just been cooked, just reheated up and my steak was really over cooked too. Very dissappointed

This is my local pub so fairly frequent visitor. Last three visit: “kitchen closed”, sorry kitchen is closed, sorry no food. What’s going on with your kitchen please? Some say your chef worked off and you can’t find a new one?

Opens at 10 am for breakfast on a Saturday morning and we were the first patrons of the place.

We have eaten at the Ship Ashore loads of times over the years. Not been in a while and was sent an email for 40% off mains so we went yesterday. Saw the blackboard outside saying all under 12’s have to sit in the children’s area, ok I thought. It’s the area right next to the door to the beer garden and stinks of cigarettes.

I always rate the quality of a pub by the quality of drink they have on tap.
