Very rude to my partner who simply went up to order two pints of beer. We did have two sealed kebabs that we were saving until later and it was past 11:30 (their food serving times). Bouncer intimidated my girlfriend and marched us out the building as a result. Completely unacceptable and unnecessary.

Amazing, just had the Nduja pizza with my stunningly partner Liz Cole-Nelson and it was frankly the BEST pizza I have had in the UK. The service from Joe and the lady behind the bar was easy and friendly.... this is an amazing place and the chef is a different class.... truly truly amazing...if you have a bad meal here. (pizza only) then contact me , and I'll pay.... Craig & Liz

We often pop here for a drink when we visit in Marlow. The staff are friendly and welcoming, providing a good service. We haven't eaten here, but the pizzas look and smell amazing. The atmosphere is great, with generally plenty of locals. There's a cosy fire on each side, and dogs are welcome. It is a great place to visit.

Went to the bar and asked for the barman to recommend a double Gin and Tonic, which he did and was very helpful, so I didn’t begrudge the price of 12.95 as much, it tasted great. Then, only 2 minutes after I had returned to where I was sitting, another, and very surly, member of staff told everyone that the bar was closed and we all had to leave. I asked if I could finish my drink and she retorted that I “should have thought about that before”. No drinking up time, no notice that the bar was closing, nothing.

A very old pub in the centre of Marlow, it could be as old as the town itself. Nice to see such a nice example survive and prosper. Beer is well-kept with a reasonable range of choices. Food is decent pub quality. Evenings can get quite busy, but with good weather the space in the rear garden can be used. There was a time when Marlow had many more pubs, sadly many seem to have closed. The Ship has survived because it is popular, and it is popular because it is a decent pub.

Came in on quiet Monday eve, just for couple of pints and a pizza. Good selection of beer, I didn’t find the barmaid particularly friendly and you had to get her attention to get served as she was glued to her phone. Outside area was empty but tables all needed clearing in. Bar staff are clearly lazy. Pizza was ok, very oily. We left after 2 pints as there was the danger of a funeral breaking out at this 16th century pub (which btw isn’t a selling point).

Myself and a colleague were working in the area and decided to pop in for a quick drink. We ordered and everything seemed fine until we offered to pay cash. We were refused that offer. When challenged as to why they wouldn't accept cash the answer was because of COVID and that they had stopped taking cash at the start of the pandemic. We nearly walked out but decided to pay by card. We won't be going back.

Haven’t visited this pub much, after having been advised by others around Marlow. That this pub has an issue with staff. However I decided to give it another go in during the week, sadly what I have been told is correct. The staff are arrogant and downright rude to customers! What happened to the customer is always right ? Which you would’ve thought would be no.1 rule when serving the public. Our Bar man seemed unbothered and unenthusiastic when taking are order, as well as borderline arguing with my partner over her glass which he claimed didn’t have any lipstick on and refused to replace the glass. Maybe it’s time he looked for a non hospitality job! I’d watched this bar man throughout the evening it seemed his mood to progressively worse, could even be described as sulking around the place. Massive downer on the evening! Won’t be rushing back!!

Being from the area originally , I love to pop back quite often , when you can get served they serve good local Ale from the nearby fantastic rebellion brewery . Went down early on the Friday night with my wife to meet family and actually had quite a good night and left as we always do when it becomes impossible to hear anything other than deafening music . Popped back on the Saturday night fairly early so it wasn’t busy , the rugby was well over by then about 8 pm . I ordered a coupe of drinks but forgot something so went back to bar and stood behind two ladies patiently waiting , I was at bar for approximately 10 mins they were there longer , eventually they gave up and walked out without being able to get served , the barmaid saw them leave and went on to serve a group of guys immediately upon arrival at bar in front of me . I politely asked the barman who arrived from around the other side when he has a minute to get my order please , and got a smart reply that he was serving someone else ( who came to bar after me ) It’s the first place I always go to when meeting friends / family in Marlow , but sadly it’s gone down hill in recent years bears little resemblance to the ship I first drank in 35 odd years ago .seems to be left to inexperienced disinterested bar staff with little supervision to me , only my opinion . The owners clearly only wish to cater for the young crowd these days , good luck to them . For a stark contrast in terms of polite , friendly knowledgable approachable courteous bar staff try the chequers in the high street , my new Marlow HQ , foods amazing too .

While I'm sure it's fine during the day, at night it gets severely crowded which is too much for its limited indoor space and small dance floor to handle. Bouncers on the door can be incredibly rude and like to power play, kicking people out of the queue for ridiculous reasons. Does not deliver the welcoming entrance you would hope for. Would probably go back again during the day as the overall aesthetic of the place does seem pleasant, but never again at night.

The external of the building advertises food but there is none. When we enquired about it, the young girl behind the counter was rude, rolling her eyes and clearly wasn't happy being there. The venue itself is quite dark inside, to be expected with the low ceilings and the ship like decor. The garden area is nice and plenty of seating. Although it wasn't particularly busy when we went maybe a result of the service.

The Ship is an OK pub for evening drinks on the weekend. However, when the sun goes down on a nice Friday night the hired thugs on the door come out to swing their massive you know what. Tatted thugs with previous criminal records and their close family form a cartel on the door and feel the need to punch, throw around, and in general manhandle people for very light offenses in a pretty well-behaved neighborhood. If you are a person in their 20's be prepared to deal with these lawless bouncers propped up by management who do not understand how to run a successful pub. Duke of Clarence bouncers are much more civilized and I highly recommend going there.

I visited the ship for a drink with a friend & had an awful experience. Firstly, when we entered the Pub, the door staff were very friendly and welcoming. We went to the bar and ordered our drinks, which was nice. The DJ then arrived and set up his speakers etc. I decided to go over and politely ask “I really hope you don’t mind as I’m sure you get a lot of people asking you for a choice of song, but is there any chance I could ask for this song please?” The DJ then went into a 5 minute rant about how rude it was to request a song (at first I thought he was joking then realised he wasn’t all there…). He continued to say how successful he had been in his career as a DJ working at the Ministry of Sound etc. (Not sure how he’s ended up in The Ship but all to there own). The manager then came over and to my complete shock, he said “the DJ gets annoyed when people are rude to him”. Rude? I asked for a song request to a DJ in the most polite way possible and then it clicked with the manager and he then apologised to me. Looking at Trip advisor, I have noticed a few bad reviews about the DJ and that he has the previous to be quite rude & obnoxious. The DJ let’s the ship down massively & I won’t be returning until he’s gone! Avoid at all costs!

I visited the Duke of Clarence a few months ago and had a very average experience, service was slow and the I had to send my food back twice. We were back in the area on Saturday and decided to give it another go and we are so pleased we did!
