We had a fun evening playing a good , well organized quiz. Drinks served to the table . Sanitizer available and distancing in place. We havent used this local much before but now we have been a few times and are staying nearer home we will be going more often as its welcoming . Food also looks good so we will try that soon . A good evening and in our group of four age ranged from 26 to 81 so a good family thing to do .

We Don’t go to this pub that often although it is near to where we live. Pop in sometimes for a quick drink and have had a few meals in there too. It always has his usual quota of locals and regulars which then is always quite noisy with some quite rude, unnecessary bad language . That aside, the meals, plus the beer for that matter is very hit and miss. Sometimes the food is good, sometimes it’s awful, we think it depends on who’s cooking it. Went in last Friday and had two lovely meals, a sirloin steak and a mixed grill, served on a sizzling plate both meals were proper sizzling and very tasty. Wine and carling lager were both good too. We Went in again Saturday late afternoon, just for a drink, wine good but the carling was awful, it was as flat as a pancake !!,! Whilst we were there we saw 3 people take their carling back and complain. I took my husbands pint of carling back ( he couldn’t be fussed because he says if they can’t get it right first time there’s no point. ) He thinks it’s who pours the pint and how they pour it determines how good it is. So, as we were the fourth complaining about the carling rather than risk another rubbish pint I asked if they would please swap it for a pint of carlsberg. “ What, why ? “ came the answer, rather rudely, Because the carling is flat I told her. No apology, nothing, she left the carling on the bar, went to pour a carlsberg, whilst chatting to a regular, totally ignored me and when she had finished talking and only then did she return to me, dump the new pint of lager on the bar in front of me, no apology nothing and just walked away . How rude, what happened to the customer always being right ? Like I said in the beginning it’s either all good or rubbish, that night it was rubbish, makes you not want to go in again.

It was my birthday and we decided to pop for a meal before returning later for the live entertainment they have on Saturday nights. My partner order the 10oz Rump Steak with chips and peas, my son and i both hand the BBQ chicken with chips and peas, we had extra mushrooms, garlic bread and sweet potatoes. With our drinks and food the total cost came to just under £32, which I feel is great value. The food was on our table within 10 minutes of ordering it and was absolutely lovely, there was empty plates all round. Our Compliments to the chef!!! We returned to the pub around 9.30 to meet up with friends to celebrate our birthdays, the atmosphere is great and the bar staff and other customers are very friendly. Great night had by all - ~Well Done The Shield and Dagger, keep up the good work.

My girlfriend had the sausage & mash,the portion size was huge I had a classic burger and chips and enjoyed it very much

Another great family meal. Have something different each time and really enjoy it. Even though i ordered first and my food came out last!! Maybe they noticed i didnt leave a tip last time:) M

Recommended this venue due to live Music - we weren't disappointed! Although it was absolutely packed service was still spot on, staff very switched on to who was next in line to be served. Great atmosphere, great service, great entertainment. Although we didn't order food our friends did and they thoroughly enjoyed their meal. Will definitely return.

Great food menu at reasonable prices, lovely friendly atmosphere, I would definately recommend food to others, great value.

I live locally and regularly call in for a pint and lunch. Sizzling food served on a hot platter is not to be sneezed at. Variety, well cooked food, not expensive and very enjoyable. Well worth a visit.

This is a great place to eat and drink you will not be disappointed. They have a good choice of food on the menu for everyone, you don't have to wait for very long for your food to appear and one thing for shore the portions are not small and the food is really good with great value for money.

Called in for food served very quickly by knowledgeable staff. Food came out quickly and was really good value for money don't expect restaurant style food but there was loads on the plate and well presented. Good all round pub grub wide range of beers available and food drink deals each night.

I was in the area for work and popped in to watch the England match and like the result it didn't disappoint great atmosphere and a great place to watch the euros

Food was great and the value terrific, the pub could do with a bit of an update though and more seating.

Great value food, lovely to eat, would have given 5 stars , except for the fact that we specially requested lemon for fish n chips and we given none on any of the meals. Bit of wait as was crowded, but the great food made up for it.. Kids meal nuggets n fries were great!

This is not a posh nosh pub. This is a pub. They serve good pub grub......you're scampi and chips, your sharing platters and booze. The prices they charge you can't go wrong. Its local and for local people - tho in Bristol, anyone is welcome! The staff I have met are always friendly, the chef is a good bloke and the manager always has a smile. diamond in the rough!

nice food, quick service and generous portions. Will go again. However could other customers (regulars) keep the noise down and stop shouting across to people they know etc. seems to be mostly males probably unemployed on benefits
