The Shed SteakHouse in East Devon

We popped in for dinner on a quiet Thursday night at the end of October so weren't expecting much. The food was superb, the service exceptional and the atmosphere despite it being quiet was great. If you are stopping in Seaton or the surrounding area this place is definitely worth a visit.

Stopped by early doors on the off chance for a bite to eat and had a great burger with fries and some rather nice onion rings and the missus had lovely pasta dish. Both dishes cooked how we like it. Couldn't fault our food and the owner John was very accomodating. Found the premises in good order and will definitely return when we're next visiting Seaton.

I really enjoyed the place and went twice. The chef is really nice and really makes a nice effort in preparing good food with attention to details (the chips are better than normal for example). The beef was nice for the price point, and I really recommend the home made ice cream.

Popped in here very late on Carnival night for a bite to eat. We were served by a lovely lady who was really welcoming. There was various choices of starters and main course dishes, we only ordered from the main course. Food arrived really quickly and it was tasty. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in this area.

Stumbled across this place randomly whilst looking for somewhere to eat whilst staying in Seaton. I wouldn't personally go to a steak restaurant normally as I'm veggie but it was pouring down and it was close and open. We were both really pleased to find the place. The waiter was very welcoming and friendly, said he could offer other food if I didn't fancy the veggie options and was happy to chat. We both had burgers, my husband had the pork rib burger and I had the jackfruit. I'm not a massive fan of burgers but mine was cooked really nicely and had lots of flavour. My husband found the same with his too. The rosemary fries were also very nice and we had onion rings which were also good. My only concern was that we were the only ones in here but having read the recent review, I can possibly see why now. Our experience was certainly very positive though and we'd be willing to go back if in the area.

We have been planning to go to the Shed with our friends for a while. When we have eaten there on previous occasions, albeit some time ago, we found it a high end restaurant, with professional staff and good service. We booked well in advance, as it used to be so popular and therefore impossible to get a table at short notice or on the night. We didn’t need to worry though. There were very few people in when we arrived on a Friday night. This was quite a shock, as we had booked an early evening table. We were greeted by a young lady who was very pleasant. We tried to order drinks, but didn’t have something as simple as soda water. We ordered our food, but I have to say, we had quite a long wait. Over an hour. When the food eventually arrived, it was nicely presented, plenty of it, and we enjoyed it. It was only let down by the chicken wings, which were a bit of a joke. When it came to paying, us and other customers had to go to the staff area to ask someone to come and take our money. Overall, the food was nice, staff pleasant, expensive, and not how it used to be. I’m not sure we will be returning sadly.

A very good restaurant in the centre of Seaton. I recommend to book a table. I didn't but they did manage to squeeze me in. Food was very well prepared (beef brisket) with garlic butter fries. Followed by an orea cheesecake. Absolutely delicious. Service was a bit slow but in all fairness they were short staffed and they did their best. Chef and waiting staff were lovely and very approachable and helpful. Had they weren't short staffed I would have given 5 stars. Next time I'm in the area I'll revisit.

The Shed has a huge selection of steaks, ribs and burgers with many sides options. Very good restaurant and lovely staff.

Terrible decision!! We travelled from London to meet our family for a catch up meal, we waited for 45 minutes for drinks! Then starter was microwaved nachos which we waited another 40 minutes - we asked for our starter and meal to come out together! 2 hours in total and no sign of our meals! When we asked why is everyone else receiving their meals we were told they were busy!! They had not even started our order! We were not offered drinks nor even a sorry - just the fact they were busy! Other family’s experienced the same and we left without any meal. Terrible experience terrible service terrible management terrible dirty place. We were sitting by the window with the lunch time dirty cups and tea pots! Really disappointed with the whole experience Don’t even bother wasting your time

On visiting the Shed, we were met and shown to our table, the restaurant was about half full but we were told no menus were available. Once we did have the menu, we came to place our order, I wanted a lager, but was offered a cider, eventually ordered what we wanted. We noticed people were waiting ages for their food and one table left after their starters and other tables including ourselves were complaining about the wait. The guy cooking was waiting on table and serving drinks as the two waitresses were struggling to cope. Massively under staffed. A great shame

Ribs were incredible, the meat fell off the bone and they were cooked to perfection. The menu has lots to choose from, the chef and staff were warm and friendly and they were great with our son. Highly recommend

Don’t bother. The reviews on here are very misleading as there are some positive reviews which is why we thought we would visit while we are here.. now we wish we hadn’t, the restaurant was filthy and this was at 530pm when they open, the waiters had dirty uniform on, greasy hair and young staff that really don’t know what their jobs are. Food was average but I would expect for from a steakhouse. Will not be going back

We visit The Shed frequently as our eatery of choice whenever we're in Seaton. Food has always been fab. Steaks always fantastic quality and cooked just as we like it (one rare, one blue). Love the pork belly burger. Great sides and starters, only occasionally have room for pudding :-) If you get chance, worth trying the Bistro Menu (needs to be booked) it's imaginative and very tasty. Staff are very friendly and welcoming, can get busy but any wait is well worth it. Oh, and the cocktails certainly hit the spot.

This was our 3rd time at The Shed on our annual trip to Devon and it was the best we’ve ever had, John and his staff were so attentive and the food was absolutely incredible this place is well worth a visit!

Saw some bad reviews, so we were a little apprehensive about going, but had 10 meat lovers ( from South Africa) booked and was warned as there were 11 of us, we would have a wait a little for food, no problem with that, found food was great, service was great, happy, helpful staff, bill was reasonable, all walked out full. Only advice was it was hot in the restaurant, so could do with a/c or more open windows. Otherwise 11 of is highly recommended it

Absolutely amazing, the best, tastiest, tender well cooked fillet steak. My husband had a burger which he loved! Staff were great including the brilliant chef, he took time to pop out and talk to his customers, he was funny and friendly. We could not fault the place. Amazing, thank you so much for a great evening ❤️

We visited twice, once for drinks and the second time for food. The food was really good quality meat, mega meal, the espresso martinis were excellent and John was a wonderful host. Would definitely recommend to others and visit again personally.

This place, now I really mean the guy working solo, is absolutely amazing. The food I had was fabulous. Well worth a visit and definitely well worth the money.

What a find, cheeseburger, fries and a bottle of San Miguel for less than £10. Only Tue - Thur during May though.

This is a great place for meat lovers. Massive portions and the service is great, 1 guy is particularly great and makes sure you have a great time dining in.. They also have a takeaway menu for those lazy nights in which is priced cheaper thab eating in the restaurant.

Excellent Burger fries and drink for a tenner

Walked in and almost turned round and walked out. The place looked very tired and dirty. Certainly gone downhill. Drinks very expensive food was ok but I don’t think the air handling unit was functioning as very very smokey

Booked a table, we arrived at the set time, the table was still dirty (lots of empty tables, there for not busy) the other tables were left dirty after the others had left. Our starters came out cold after waiting 1hour, then main meal finally arrived 40 minutes after under cooked and cold! Each time I could see my meal up there but no one brought it over right away! Just stood around talking I would not recommend the place, neither will I be returning.

Went with friends for the Bistro Menu that was started a few months ago plus OH had the cocktail flight that went with it. The food was very good and very different to any other establishment in Seaton. OH enjoyed her cocktails which, at 3 for £15, was very good value. The menu changes every month and you do need to book a few days in advance if you want the Bistro Menu. Otherwise, the steaks and burgers are always available.

Had the shedload this evening. The food and the service was amazing as always. Come here regularly. And can't wait to go back again. They never dissapoint.

Had a family meal for a birthday, one person running around being everyone, poor hygiene, looks unkept and filthy, place filled with smoke that made your eyes water. Poor selection of steaks! Not for me ever again

As Walk-in business customers we were welcomed straight away and given great service by all staff members. Went for couple of mains and good selection of sides and when the food arrived we were not disappointed. Tasty, fresh and plentiful…. Chilli fries were perfect! Staff remained friendly and attentive throughout and perfectly timed additional drinks request Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend and hopefully get the chance to visit again

Freshly made, very tasty food, I had belly pork burger and it was delicious - tender meat and crunchy crackling! Staff is very friendly and nice. The only drawback was waiting for food for a a long time, but then it was served piping hot and abundant. Recommended!

I was looking forward to coming back to the shed and having a lovely time. Having used to work here, I was expecting the same high standards as it once was 6 years ago. Let’s just say I was disappointed. We made a booking for 17:30 and turned up a couple of minutes early and they let us in. There were 3 adults and 2 babies in prams which they did accommodate for and get us a bigger table to get the prams around. We ordered drinks and I then decided to go to the toilet. To my surprise, I stood in dog poo outside the toilet. Let’s just say, it was the last thing I was expecting to stand in, in a restaurant. I took my shoe off and walked over and said that I just stood in dog poo. They all looked at me shocked but I don’t think they actually believed me at first. I asked for a jug of water and a cloth to clean my shoe. I’m not sure who it was but he was quick to respond and actually took my shoe out the back to clean it. We did get the drinks taken off the tab which we appreciated. The food was okay, the steak was lovely and so were the wings but all the other bits were over cooked. The service is definitely not what it used to be. I’d also recommend getting a baby changer, having a mat to change a baby on the floor is not good. I’m not one to usually complain, but this was not a pleasant experience.

From outside the Shed doesn’t look inviting but inside is great. The service is excellent, not in your face. Not a great choice of draught beers. We ordered the slow cooked brisket and the ultimate burger, absolutely great so much so no room for pud sadly. Definitely recommend this eatery if you’re in Seaton.

Excellent meal and service last night, steaks cooked to perfection

A lovely steakhouse, granted some of the non-steak feels like it is straight out of the freezer but the service and value for money was amazing. Try the Bavette!

As a family of 11 on the last night of our holiday our dinner plans had fallen through and we thought all was lost but thankfully the Shed said that they could accommodate us and our dog. It turned out to be the best meal of our holiday! We experienced friendly, welcoming customer service. All of us were exceptionally happy with our food and drinks. The cocktails and baileys and Irish milkshakes were a fabulous treat. Our vegetarian and gluten free family members were well catered for and everyone of us said how much we wished we'd found it earlier in our holiday! Thanks for a great evening!

Went out for a family meal while on holiday and had the most amazing meal at The Shed. The steak was cooked perfectly and The service from Tobias was excellent. I would strongly recommend visiting if you are in the UK.

Food was good and staff were excellent, I would ignore the below review as I’m sure this was the couple sat on the table next to us, if so they complained after they’d eaten pretty much all of their food and declined a replacement meal and a free drink, complained that an espresso martini didn’t come within 30 seconds of ordering it, they then proceeded to be rude to the staff members and the young manager there, who dealt with them very well, I got the impression this definitely wasn’t their first time complaining to try get a free meal, seems like others had the same impression from their trip advisor reviews

Really enjoyable evening. 7 us of ate and had 3 courses each. No complaints about any of the food. The steaks were very tasty. I had bbq chicken wings followed by 12oz bavette steak rare and baileys ice cream with an expresso for desert. The kids menu was really good too and I couldnt find it on the website so worth mentioning here; my son had steak. The staff were friendly. Have wanted to go here for years and was not disappointed. Look forward to going again soon.

Well the Shed excelled tonight - delicious steak cooked to perfection, crispy succulent French fries, and blue cheese sauce followed by espresso and scoop Baileys ice cream. Started with chicken wings in bbq sauce. Kids menu super especially the milkshake and waffle cookie and cream pud! Service exceptional- shame not many there, so hopefully this review will tempt more interest!!! Come on folks give it try. It appears s to be making a fresh start!!!

We visited the Shed on Friday the 4th of August. We love it there, the food and service is always of the highest order. Yet again all elements of our experience were faultless, thank you all at The Shed. Unfortunately, a table of two that were dining at the same time as us seemed intent on causing trouble. The lady, sorry I meant to say female was clearly drunk and extremely argumentative. The male, aged about 40 decided to square up to the young waiter!! Be ashamed. The young male manager and who I believe to be his boss dealt with this awful situation impeccably. Be very proud guys. The argumentative couple were clearly just looking for trouble and a free meal. I suspect they make a habit of it. We will be returning for another five star evening very soon, and hope that other local restaurants have been alerted to this pair.

This was a superb steak meal. We were celebrating a 67th birthday away and found this steak house on the web. It has stood up to its reviews in that we haven’t had such a lovely steak meal for ages. Don’t be put off by the outside road view. The waitress, Ella was fantastic and even went the extra mile when I asked if she hand a candle. The puddings were superb as well, sticky toffee was light as well as big, the cheese cake was light as well with a well made sorbet. We are definitely going here again if in the area. Thanks to the chef for perfectly cooked and flavoured main coarse. Don’t pass it by if you 😘 steak

Nice space between other customers. Comfortable seating,clean cutlery n tables. Not rushed to choose food.Great music playing in the background,soft rock 80s * 90s the evening we went there. Luscious Barnyard chicken burger,tasty chips,.Pudding was just awesome for me,had chocolate Brownie with Bailey's icecream. Steak choices were of prime cuts. So,the choice on th3 menu isn't vast,but what they have they do very very well. Steak was very expensive, but,your talking premium beef,so it's definitely a treat if you have a few ££ to spend. Overall, great food,great staff,happy environment, good evening out😊😊

Wow, what a find some of the best BBQ food we've had, the staff were lovely very attentive the food was bloody lovely and I even managed to get the chef to turn up the ACDC track so that alone gives them 5 stars

A fairly average experience. Front of house was laid back and casual. We were seated next to a group with a very annoying young child who was allowed to behave in a way unsuited to an evening in a restaurant. The service was friendly and efficient and our steaks were very nice. But the meal and the ambience was nothing more than average.

Within 4 mins. walk from home which makes it an ideal venue as we can both have a drink! My husband's birthday and we were given a glass of prosecco a good welcome for a special occasion. Fantastic range of cocktails - not just run of the mill. Martin Espresso for a coffee lover like me. Shared a dish of delicious mixed olives with warm bread, then The Shed Load where we chose the Bavette Steak which melted in our mouth, a rib of beef, corn on the cob, onion rings, chips, cheese Mac etc. Again shared an excellent cheesecake and sorbet. Ending with Irish coffees. Perfect meal. Good Ambiance. Like most catering establishments, they have had staff problems in the past but the young waiter gave outstanding attention to every detail. My husband dropped a knife and he was there immediately with a replacement which shows his mind was on his job and not scrolling through his phone! We will certainly eat there again and it was really good value - we could not manage to eat all the main course and so the waiter kindly wrapped it in foil for us to take home!! Thank you for an enjoyable evening.

We eat in this restaurant twice during our week in Seaton and both meals were excellent. We had beautiful cooked fillet steaks both times. Our waiter was very attentive and the chef brought the food to our table. A very nice touch. If you leave Seaton and haven't eaten here you have made a big mistake.

Amazing place, far exceeded my expectation with imaginative cocktail menu (the chef smokes their own whisky for a unique drink), impeccably cooked fish, steaks, and vegetables, and entirely made from scratch delicious deserts….just WOW!!!

Fabulous restaurant, polite staff, good portions of food at a very reasonable price. Lovely atmosphere and luckily for us quiet. Tbe menu has a lovely selection of options including some interesting sounding veggie/vegan options. I took a recommendation from the waiter and was not disappointed. My friend was also delighted with his dinner, we'd definitely go back. The cocktail menu looks fantastic, I wish I hadn't been driving!

Lots of issues with shortages of beer and staff to serve them . Ordered the last two beer cans available . Ordered food . Starter for my 9year old was burnt garlic bread , plain to see , had to obviously return it then wait 15 mins + for a replacement. Which held up our mains . Mains arrived . Chips were sooo over cooked I couldn’t put a fork into them . Ate the burger which was very good . Didn’t bother complaining about the poor chips we all had with our meals for fear of being there another hour . A neighboring table had to wait 40 mins for their puddings x2 which put us of ordering any , although no one came and asked . So we went to the bar to get the bill as it seemed our waiter was too busy to return to us . This was our first night of a weeks stay and had planned to re visit but all our clothes smelt of cooking fat which was quite odd as we were t that close to the kitchen . Iam sure if they had more staff which I understand but we had booked three weeks before arrival and didn’t just walk in . Wouldn’t recommend.

Drove from Chepstow near Newport to eat at this restaurant on a recommendation from a friend, The brisket and chargrilled ribs with there own source is superb, this smoke house is worth a visit. Some of the best meats I've experienced.. Highly recommended.

Enjoyed a lovely meat roast that included beef brisket, belly pork and chicken breast, all washed down with a great pint of Hanlons Port Stout. Managed to squeeze in a maple & pecan tart with spiced rum ice cream, followed by a latte. Gert lush and good value!

The passion for great cooking and the use of well sourced produce is evident on the plate, exceptional for a seaside town, this would rival any west end steakhouse. Thank you for the great food & service.

We called in just after 5pm on a Sunday evening. We decided on the large meat roast × 2 ( unfortunately the Lamb and cauliflower cheese had sold out at lunchtime) The meat roasts had beef brisket,chicken breast and pork belly ,roast potatoes yorkshire pudding ,stuffing, amazing gravy. Vegetables were parsnips,carrots,broccoli and beetroot. Wow it was amazing the meats were so tender and crispy crackling on the pork.We shared a delicious brownie with rum ice cream and we had a carafe of zombie rum cocktail. The waiter was superb and we couldn't have had a better birthday meal..we have booked up for New year's eve already. Great prices compared to our at home pubs to

We've been to The Shed on many occasions, always great with wonderful, home-made food, lovely ambience and super service. We were sampling lots of the new menu last night; yummy chicken, fish & veg/vgn options. House wine was delicious. Hazelnut tart was to die for, my fav! John & Ella are a lovely couple trying so hard to please & cooking everything properly themselves. Thanks for a great evening to all; John, Ella, Stu & Tobias, we were spoilt! A good range if you like your meat. The burger was nice and I still felt full the next morning. I wasn't expecting that. I can't fault them on taste and quality. The presentation isn't bad either.

The food was horrible and over priced! These was 2 of us that got the ribs and these was bone marrow in the source. All 4 of us had chips as a side and they wasn’t cooked. Cut way too big! None of us ate...

We stopped here on the off chance they had a table spare, which they did. The front of house staff were very good and exceptionally knowledgeable, and when our steak arrived.. wow, it cut like a hot knife through butter, it was perfect ( keep up the good work chef), I wish we had this restaurant in the town we live in.

I could eat here every night! We, as family could not fault a thing: Great welcome and the staff were friendly and attentive all night. The food… WOW every dish was perfect and I mean that! The steak just melted. The cocktails are addictive (in a very good way). The atmosphere was spot on, the decor and music. We loved our evening here and are genuinely gutted that we live four hours away. Although as a family we said we’d come back just for the this restaurant. 🐮

We went for dinner as my parents were down to visit, to be totally honest the food was ok not good just ok but the service was awful we asked for drinks they never arrived we asked for condiments they never arrived either.
