Went there with my family for a quick meal before the show. The food was super nice, all “pub grub” but to a much nicer, higher standard. The only thing I will say is there was about a 10 minute gap inbetween half our table recovering and food and the other half, but apart from that it was great all round!

Came into the Shakespeare for Sunday lunch with my family. Fantastic Sunday roast and wonderful attentive staff, the atmosphere in the pub was extremely relaxing

Fantastic “old world” pub with friendly atmosphere and lovely food. Staff were really lovely and made our evening memorable.

I came here with my friends today and had an absolutely incredible time! I’m a vegetarian so I had the vegan burger which was delicious and my friends had fish and chips which they said were some of the best they have ever had. I love a nice ale and the pub had 6 different beers, most of which were locally brewed. The bar staff were really friendly and welcoming and let us try a bit of each ale before we bought one. I went for the hop master porter which was delicious. Absolutely lovely pub with lovely staff great beer and a very cosy welcoming atmosphere, will be back again soon!

Amazing desserts I came in for one drink but ended my night with amazing sticky toffee pudding , this is my favourite pub in Bristol

We dropped in at the Shakespeare Tavern for lunch and admired the historic interior. We chose food from the extensive menu and selected drinks to go with it. The food was well prepared and was quite tasty.

Fantastic atmosphere. Although visiting as a solo visitor I was made extremely welcome. I had a lovely glass of Sauvignon blanc and the duck hash. The duck was absolutely fantastic and I can only compliment the chef, best Greene King dish I have ever had cooked to perfection

Amazing Sunday roast alongside some fantastic real ales! Highly recommend this classic British pub I want to give the landlord a big shout out for his local history knowledge of the building it was like having a personal history tour.

We had an amazing visit here. We only popped in for some drinks but the ale selection was brilliant! Then a pirate band started playing! Excellent night, would recommend!

Excepcional local en la zona centro de Bristol. The Shakespeare Tavern es el típico pub británico con su mobiliario en madera, buena barra repleta de grifos de cerveza y un ambiente puramente Inglés. El local es pequeño pero acogedor; disfrutar de unas cervezas en un lugar como este es vivir una bonita experiencia. El servicio es correcto sin más, pero la comida si es destacable; ofrecen varias opciones con buena presencia y calidad del producto. En general muy recomendable.

We came for a Sunday roast and were so pleasantly surprised. The beef roast was cooked to perfection and the staff were lovely and professional. Anneli was one of the servers who looked after us and was pleasant and helpful in choosing the food. 100% recommend coming for a roast.

My sister and I were worried at first about whether we'd be able to visit as we had our dog with us. Luckily we were warmly met by the bar maid Kayleigh who was really friendly and even brought over some treats and water for our dog! The drinks were really tasty and we got a great recommendation on the wine from a blonde young man Elliot. The atmosphere was lovely and really friendly staff, big recommendation!

Great service and as always a warm and welcoming atmosphere in the pub. Both Kayleigh and Jacob were very professional, polite and made me feel very welcome. Plus a group great pint of Guinness as always.

Had the butternut soup yesterday, still thinking about how great it was today - props to the chefs they know what they’re doing!

I had the misfortune of visiting the darkest dingiest pub I think I have ever been in. There are the most dangerous steps with no handrail to get in it to start with. We were there for lunch - reading the menu it all looked quite tasty. However we both had butternut squash soup - after one mouthful it was evident that it tasted like dishwater. We told the staff that it was inedible and did not even get an apology - we were told it was too bad. However within minutes someone else tried to order the same and was told that it was no longer on the menu - clearly they had dodged a bullet. I would absolutely avoid this dreadful place like the plague - there are many much nicer places around the harbourside

Had a really fun time at Wednesday quiz with some mates :) the food was really delicious and a good portion. Would definitely come to do the quiz and for some food

Dropped in as saw on Trip Advisor that the pub was well rated; wasn’t disappointed at all. Enjoyed a nice meal and great craft beer. Luckily for me it was Quiz Night, and I was welcomed by one of the local teams to join them. Great friendly atmosphere and wonderful staff, credit to the team. Would thoroughly recommend a visit

I often go to the Shakespeare for the Wednesday night Quiz Night and for drinks and food on other occasions. Always have a great selection of drinks, food and snacks and a warm, fun and friendly welcome from the manager and staff . It’s my favourite pub in Bristol.

Great for early dinner. Superb Christmas decorations lovely staff and even better food. Staff extremely friendly and the upstairs area worked so well.

We visited for a meal before an event at the Bristol Beacon and chose here based on many good reviews and experiences of other Greene King pubs. Beautiful building and a friendly and knowledgeable welcome regarding our online booking. Table set in a nicely Christmas decorated area behind the bar. Good choice of drinks and food on the menu. A few mains unavailable like fish and chips which I would have ordered. However the burger and fries I went for was very enjoyable and my friend's Fish and mussels was ok. Overall a really good experience and well worth a visit.

Used the private room for an early Xmas get together. 13 of us and shall we say perhaps not exactly "wallflowers" so if there'd been complaints they would certainly have been voiced. However, the food, service and ambience were all great. Nicholas - the manager was truly on the ball communication wise and I'm pretty sure we will be returning next year!

Stayed in the Bristol hotel down the road so had dinner one night here. Had a table booked so no hassles with our booking, staff showed us straight to our lovely table for two. Atmosphere here was buzzing with a real Christmas vibe going on. We ate a festive burger and a chicken Kiev followed by sticky toffee pudding, the food was simply delicious and reasonably priced. Decor here was so nice and Chistmasy ,definitely recommend a visit.

Went to the pub quiz tonight!! We’re a group of 6 students who have been looking for a decent quiz for a while-we have found it!!.Amazing atmosphere and a fabulous quiz layout. The MC was hilarious and the staff were legends. We all enjoyed some mid-quiz entertainment that was very well monitored. Cant wait to return next week xx

I came here with my friend Lisa for the pub quiz. We came last but we still had an amazing time! The staff were absolutely lovely and had good banter and great drink recommendations for my friend is quite fussy and usually only drinks Vodka Martinis. My friend and I also had food which was absolutely delicious! I will definitely be coming back again! This is the perfect place for a post work pint with mates. Lovely atmosphere and great traditional wooden wall pub with a rich history.

Me and my friend walked in tried to get a drink, a man at the bar started sexually harrassing us telling me to f*nger myself looking me in the eye and harrasing me and my friend after we very politely asked them to leave us alone, we told the bar manager and he didnt seem to care much he sort of just shrugged and said that we should ask them to leave then? I started to tell him who the man was and he walked away not caring. We told the local security outside and he went in and spoke to the bar man and the bar man told him that we should go to more age appropriate pubs and its to be expected “this is an old mans pub” - we’re 24 and should feel safe in any place we go to? The lack of care that we’d been harrassed was appalling, basically just being told to stick up for ourselves and deal with it alone when its the bar person’s responsibility to make sure that everyone in their place feels safe. Will never be returning.

Fabulous place. Popped in for dinner and drinks on Halloween. The pub is super cute and cosy. Nice big menu. Luke served us and he was super friendly and welcoming. I had pie and it was great. Definitely a new favourite spot for me now :)

I hired out part of the pub for a leaving party. The process from start to finish was seamless and Nick and the team were super helpful. The pub had a great atmosphere and a brilliant selection of food and drink. Could not fault and will definitely be returning!

On holiday from Dundee. Found this cosy fantastic friendly pub. Definitely made our stay great. Staff lovely and accommodating. Enjoyed our Wednesday night Quiz and even won it which was a bonus.

Visited the Shakespeare, had a meeting in their upstairs room and it went perfectly. The service was fantastic, very professional and nothing was too much trouble for them. It was a great setting and the tv and audio set up worked very well. We had some beer afterwards and the craft range was awesome! Thank you guys, we will be back again soon!

I must admit this didn’t look as though it was going to be good but we dropped in for Sunday dinner on the off chance and it was very nice and good value for money. It’s an old building which does not help making it look nice but all in all a good experience. The meal took a little while to arrive but then again, it’s not fast food !.

We pre booked and arrived on time for Sunday lunch. After ordering our meal we waited for over an hour and then asked what was happening only to be told that they were very busy and only had a small kitchen! We asked if there may be a discount but were informed that we would need to speak to the manager. She duly arrived and said no discount was possible but they would give us another drink. Apologies were minimal. Eventually the food arrived, my roast lamb was over-cooked on the outside and almost raw on the inside. Vegetables were only just warm, it was awful. I would suggest you give it a wide berth.

We enjoyed people watching from the terrace during our lunch at the Shakespeare. Beer and fish sandwich were great!

Popped into this little hidden gem yesterday. The staff were welcoming, but keeping to their Covid Guidlines. We sat upstairs where we were told by Nick that the room was new since lockdown. There was plenty of light and tables and would work wonderfully as a meeting space for our company. We had lunch which came quickly and tasted fantastic. The Ale was great, just what was needed during a mini heatwave. 10 out of 10 for everything

We were greeted by a lovely hostess who showed us to our cozy table. However, when the food arrived after a 30 min wait we were extremely disappointed. The veggie burger was plain, the so called “rosemary french fries” lacked any trace of rosemary or spices, and on top of that they were both soggy and cold. Overall, tasteless food but lovely staff.

Despite our best effort, we were unable to get served any drinks and in the end we had to just leave for another pub instead. It’s a shame, because the pub is really nice, and I’m sure it would have been great if we’d ever been served.Theres also zero reception where we were sitting, so it was impossible to use their app.

I visited 3 times during my stay in Bristol the service was excellent and friendly which as a solo traveler is always welcome. All staff on my visits were great but one was there on 2 of my visits and she was noticeably good and friendly at welcoming me and other customers If I visit Bristol again I will deffinatly visit this gem of a pub

We visited this pub reluctantly after having a few bad experiences with the chain previously and it’s a good job we did. The service was second to non, the server was really friendly and attentive and the place was cleaned to an exceptional standard by the same member of staff. The food was great, the chips were defiantly the best bit! The only constructive criticism is with the fried Halloumi, don’t add sauce in the same dish as this made the batter a little soggy.

We love an old fashioned pub and this was a great place to relax. We visited on a Friday evening for a few drinks and then spent a few hours here on the Saturday afternoon soaking up the sun. Staff are very friendly and attentive, would definitely go back if in the area.

On a weekend trip to Bristol we were looking for a proper pub, with the atmosphere and ambience that is lacking in larger more commercialised establishments. We stumbled across The Shakespeare and were not disappointed. It became a favourite of ours during our stay and we visited several times. Good drinks and great service. The staff were amazing and were attentive and efficient with the government guidelines dictating table service only. If in Bristol again we will definitely be making a return visit.

Had such a lovely evening here. The pub is so clean and cosy, super welcoming vibes. The food was so nice! The staff made the visit, they were absolutely lovely and couldn’t do enough for us. Sorry to say received the worst customer service when I visited today. Had waited patiently after the bell for last orders had been rung. Waved a few times but didn't want to appear rude to try to get the attention of the staff. This was at 9 20pm. Eventually at 9 40 pm was told it was too late. After had been ignored for over 15 minutes. Would have spent our evening elsewhere. Food was ok but service was poor

We popped into the Shakespeare tonight for an evening meal to be surprised by them holding a quiz. Our meal was fabulous as was the quiz with a wonderful compare Nick. It was a real treat as although they are keeping well within COVID guidelines it felt like a "normal" night. Well done to all involved

Finally managed to get back here after lockdown! I came in on Sunday with my wife and mother. We had a lovely roast each! I had a chicken and beef duo that was far too large to finish! We had a sticky toffee pudding for desert and had a few ales along the way! Definitely a great return with excellent COVID regs and definitely knew what to do! I felt very safe!

Wow what an amazing pub! I come in with my friends for a pint and to study. Staff our really friendly and have such a great knowledge of the local area. They know there products on sale and can give detail knowledge and recommendations. Tom was espically helpful with knowledge of his whisky and Ales. I would definitely recommend this pub to all. It rare you go to a small pub and the staff never stop even if there quite.

Exceptional customer services from Liam and Bethal. So friendly and nothing was too much asking for them both. This was our first visit to this place and we already booked a space for next week! Loved the atmosphere.

Revise las regulaciones y brinde algún servicio al cliente con ellas. Fue bastante grosero desde el principio y solo hizo una pausa para reprender a una miembro del personal desprevenida que parecía ser regañada sin motivo alguno.La comida era deficiente, pero estaba demasiado ocupado comiendo sus Pringles como para preocuparse.

Qué descubrimiento tan increíble fue este pub. Estábamos paseando a nuestro perro y nos recibió en el pub un personal muy amable.¡Fueron rápidos en darle golosinas a nuestro perro y un tazón de agua!Cuando dentro nos sentimos seguros con las mesas bien espaciadas, ¡se sentía acogedor y cómodo junto al fuego!El asado del domingo fue excepcional, tuve la carne y el pollo con todos los adornos cocinados a la perfección. ¡Disfruté especialmente la calabaza moscada con romero, pudín de Yorkshire y col rizada! .¡A mi compañero le encantó el pastel vegano y los dedos de pescado recién rebozados para niños eran perfectos! !Sin duda volveremos la próxima vez que salgamos a caminar por el puerto. !

Estaba en el centro de la ciudad haciendo unas compras cuando la sed se apoderó de mí. Paré en el Shakespeare porque había escuchado cosas buenas, todas estas cosas buenas eran definitivamente ciertas. Ambiente fantástico y el personal era insuperable. Fui atentamente atendida desde la entrada hasta la salida. Cervezas recomendadas de las que nunca había oído hablar antes, pero las cuidaron perfectamente y tenían un sabor increíble. Sugeriré este pub a todos y cada uno. Nick y Matt fueron excelentes en todo momento. 10/10

Llamado por casualidad. Una bienvenida encantadora por parte del personal y me dieron la mejor mesa del pub con una mesa grande y asientos cómodos. Gran variedad de asados y muy bien de precio a 10. 99. Inaudito en el centro de Bristol. La comida estaba increible. Muy rara vez los 4 estamos contentos con todo y fue un gran éxito. Mi hijo se entretuvo con la maravillosa decoración de Halloween y el personal fue muy bueno con él mientras jugábamos con el registro. 65 para una familia de 4 con vino es una ganga absoluta y la cena fue excelente

Al cobrar más de 5 por una botella de Thatchers, alrededor del 300% de margen, no me sorprende que algunos pubs estén pasando por momentos difíciles. Evitaré a Prince Street Shakespeare a partir de ahora, y lo sacaré del mercado.

What a great find this pub was! Nick (the manager) was very welcoming and had a lot of knowledge about the real ales he had... This is my kind of place! Try the homemade scotch egg - delightful!

He comido en algunos pubs Green King, pero este es el mejor con diferencia. Recibido por Nick, que era cálido y amable y no podía hacer más por mi familia. El servicio fue excelente, la comida era excelente y sin esperas. Los huevos escoceses son imprescindibles. Incluso con las restricciones de covid, es un lugar amigable con una posición brillante hacia el río. Es un pub bastante pequeño, pero esto no le resta calidez. Si este pub tuviera un poco más de espacio al aire libre o incluso más espacio interno, podría ser una pequeña mina de oro. Regresaremos con seguridad. Gracias de nuevo.

Dos colegas y yo fuimos a tomar una copa esta noche. Fui al baño y luego procedí al área de seguimiento y rastreo para ingresar mis datos. Mientras estaba en mi camino, un miembro del personal pelirrojo me detiene en seco para gritar lo irrespetuoso que fui con los otros invitados y "salir". Solo puedo asumir que pensó que me iba sin comprar una bebida, pero la forma en que me gritó y me reprendió fue mortificante.La única razón por la que fui al baño primero es por razones médicas y con mucho gusto le habría explicado esto a dicho miembro del personal si no me hubiera humillado y me hubiera ordenado salir.Nunca en mi vida me han pedido que salga de una taberna y estoy decepcionado y molesto por la forma en que me trataron. He estado en The Shakespeare muchas veces pero después de esto no regresaré.

Visité el viernes para cenar y tomar unas copas con mi esposo. Después de hacer la pista y la pista, un Nick muy amable nos mostró nuestros asientos. Teníamos huevos escoceses como un pequeño entrante seguido de bistec. los huevos eran fantásticos y el yugo agradable y pegajoso y los filetes llegaron poco después. Nos quedamos un par de horas tomando unas copas y durante todo el tiempo que estuvimos allí Brenda limpiaba constantemente una y otra vez, el lugar estaba impecablemente limpio. Vale la pena una visita

Had a great Saturday afternoon drink and meal at the Shakespeare recently. Everything was run really well track and trace and finding table space. They even found a plug for me to charge my phone. Plus a great spot to be close to the harbour too.

Great pub with a wide range of beers and ales. Friendly staff and brilliant location in the city centre.

Good pub but it’s a shame it has the typical out of town Bristolilians running it, with no atmosphere they don’t no how to talk to punters how to interact it’s all so clinical and quiet rude, it’s a shame because small pubs depends on them to bring in people to those small pubs to have a chit chat and be friendly we want to spend our money to keep those small pubs going but when staff are ignorant I’m going to take my money else where

We enjoyed a meal at the Shakespeare tavern during the "Eat Out to Help Out" scheme. Staff were very friendly and pub was set up well for covid measures. The children's portions were good and pie tasty. The mash with the sausages was a bit lumpy but otherwise a nice meal in a really welcoming venue.

In the last week I have visited the Shakespeare twice. Each time we were greeted at the door and checked in for Covid check then escorted to a table where it is explained it will be waiter service. The staff are extremely friendly and never really had to wait to reorder a round. The place is spotless and constantly cleaned. There is a limit on how many people they will let in and therefore felt very safe. I am happy to recommend a visit anytime

Prebooked Tuesday lunchtime table for lunch. Warmly greeted on arrival. Great food choices, all served with careful but appropriate Covid-19 measures in place. At least 4 excellent real ales on sale and tried 3 of them all in perfect condition. Plenty of hand sanitisers in the pub. Excellent table service by well trained and attentive staff. A lot of pubs could learn from the way this pub is so well run. And no insistence on having to use an app for everything. To copy a well known quote, 'I'll be back' !

We booked this pub for a meal, because it looks old fashioned which it is once you are inside. This is great pub food with brilliant service.

Asked for contact details before entering, and hand sanitiser machines very visible at entrance. Staff wore masks or visors. Well spaced out seating.Served drinks at table. Our server was very friendly. Lovely, cosy traditional pub. Interesting interior. Not sure if physically-disabiled can access front entrance has several steps. More local ciders please!

Lovely quaint little pub, food always great and always a good varied ale selection. Staff always super friendly and helpful! Overall, one of our favourite pubs- and even though it isn’t huge, we’ve felt really safe when visiting since the pandemic, the distancing measures are clear, and they’ve obviously worked hard at making it safe. We love the Shakespeare!

Ordered a tribute (one of my favourite ales), came and it was the end of the barrow, terrible pint, sent it back, no problem.They gave me an alternative pint, came and was vinegar, sent back, they replaced.Cant help but leave 1 star now.Take care of the lines please, greene king chain so would hope better.

Had a few drinks at the Shakespeare yesterday afternoon (Saturday) in the sunshine, having decided not to venture into the bars on the harbour side due to the crowds and lack of social distancing, what a difference here! Very professionally run, and very safe. Greeted at the door, shown to seats, drinks brought to our table, and so friendly, keep up the good work guys in these trying times as you are all doing a fantastic job.....thank you

Went Shakespeare today for a roast was probably the best roast I’ve had in years chicken was so good also customer service was really good :)

Came down for a nice little meal and to kill some time. The staff were excellent and service was very professional I remember one staff member in particular I believe his name was Liam, he was showing he wanted to go the extra mile. The table service and whole experience along with great value for money I will definitely be visiting again.
