Love this pub. The barman with the white ankle-socks and the vogon-poetry is best avoided, otherwise superb. I've heard the food is great but have yet to try it.

Walk-ins advised bar snacks not available. Front of house unwelcoming and displayed irritation by our drinks orders, a bit Fawlty Towers, the server getting more exasperated as the drinks orders placed and the server got sloppier, (lack of saucer and spoon with hot drink towards the end), all seeminlgy too much trouble for them. There were 7 of us. There were some empty tables in the pub, approx. 35% empty. 2 staff members seen behind the bar, presumably there would be a kitchen staff member too? Unable to fathom issue regarding bar snacks. Front of house an easy free fix to encourage return custom; good manners and genuine friendly service with a smile :)

Thank you to all the team at The Blaise Inn for making my husband’s 60th birthday celebration so special in August. We all had a 3-course meal, variety of tasty starters, mains were a beautiful, skate which was so lovely, and the Pork Belly was melt in the mouth accompanied by community sourced vegetables. We all then indulged in various yummy deserts with a lovely chocolate message on my husband’s plate to round off a wonderful even. We have eaten out here many times and love that the menu changes often, we always take friends and family there too as the pub has an amazing atmosphere, friendly staff with the bonus of a garden with shaded areas, lovely spot to enjoy the rest of the summer evening. Thank you guys.

A lovely extended family Sunday lunch with drinks. The food was beautifully presented and all absolutely delicious. The vegetables for the roasts came out on a shared platter, which was a great way to make sure the fussy eaters could select what they wanted. Changes were accommodated and additional gravy etc provided with a smile when requested. The staff were attentive and personable too so we felt looked after. A great atmosphere!

After hearing that this venue had been recognised by the Good Food Guide, I decided to give it a try. The menu was very small and it was difficult to find anything that excited. Having chosen however, the starter of pork rillettes with olive oil toast, basically shredded pork with melba toast was fairly tasteless and served with two slices of thin brittle toast, which shattered on picking up (I thought we had seen the last of melba toast). The main course was the duck breast, which consisted of two small slices, in a sauce with a few potato slices, so thin as to be almost see through and two wedges of turnip and some dense greenery. The pudding of chocolate, Guiness and walnut was, I admit very nice and made up, somewhat, for the very poor starter and main courses. Overall, the meal was pretentious, underwhelming, disappointing and for, bread and olives, 1 starter, 2 soft drinks, 2 main courses and 2 puddings, at £100 (including a barely deserved 10% tip, not good value...with a decent bottle of wine and 2 starters, you would be looking at least about £140 for two. I can think of many venues in Bristol, that offer better choice, better food and better value, I will not be returning or recommending this venue to my friends.

Lovely little pub, though the menu looked delicious, and despite also looking lovely on the table, the taste wasn't really there. The salad starter had all the right elements, but they just didn't seem to work together. The duck was disappointingly very overcooked, dry, and tasted of liver, it was not a good dinner experience for two people. The onglet steak actually had a really nice flavour, so we were happy that it didn't need a sauce at all. Maybe on a different night, things might come together a bit better.

Everything was amazing but one thing did let the experience down: we were sat between 2 very noisy families with kids. It was impossible to relax whilst they were there and at one point dominos were literally thrown at us. While I know you can't choose your customers, perhaps re-arranging the seating and putting the dominos to one side might be a good idea... please don't take this as criticism, you have a lovely pub, the prices are great, the staff lovely and the food was DELICIOUS! 😊

Asked to move because we were placed about 50 centimetres from a loud party, I genuinely could not hear a thing my husband was saying. The barman said it was fine the lady with the dark hair became very rude and said it wasn’t possible despite there being mostly empty tables and we explained that we can eat fast. Then shouted after us after left before our food arrived. It’s a shame because there’s not many nice local places to eat but I don’t feel comfortable returning.

Went for dinner with friends recently and this pub has a lot of charm and a vibrant atmosphere and is clearly popular with the locals. All the food was prepared really well (my plaice was cooked beautifully and the polenta fries are perfect) although each dish lacked something to make it great. Pub food is getting better and better so it takes a lot to create a really memorable pub menu these days and unfortunately this wasn’t one of them (yet) but we enjoyed our evening all the same and the service was fantastic. Worth visiting because this pub is clearly loved by a lot of people and you can sense that as soon as you walk in.

We went for Sunday lunch today, there were 6 in our party. Our food had just been served and the waiter brought over 3 glasses of wine, he then accidently spilt one all over my husbands dinner, the table, the walls as well as my light grey top, my babies white top and my husband's t-shirt (but it was black, less of an issue). 2 of them cleared it up, pretty quickly, grabbed another dinner and replaced the spilt wine. They made light of the situation and we laughed along with them. When the bill came, to my surprise, they asked for the full amount. They also by this point, still hadn't actually apologised for the incident. I raised this when they came for payment, they offered to knock off the cost of a glass of wine. Another of my party said it wasn't acceptable, so they asked what we wanted. He replied £50. The waiter then shouted to a waitress, 'they're refusing to pay.' A few moments later another lady came out. I explained the situation to her, STILL no apology, just an offer to pay a dry cleaning bill. We explained that would be a real inconvenience, we had eaten at different times, clothes were stained and still no actual apology from the business. She said she was a small business and they we can't just make up the discount, which I confirmed they actually asked for. Eventually she agreed to knock off £50. Another waitress came for payment and made a comment about the fact we 'obviously wouldn't be tipping.' When we left, my husband actually tried to leave a tip commenting that accidents happen. The same women who took payment threw it back on the table and said 'don't worry about it.' It's a really disappointing outcome and somewhat upsetting. The food was actually really lovely, and whilst accidents happen, there was still an issue. If they had actually apologised for the accident and offered a gesture of good will, however much it may have been, we would have more than likely accepted it, I really just wanted acknowledgement. But they didn't, and it turned sour. Accidents happen but the service failed here and they should have put their hands up.

What an absolute gem of a place to visit. Living in Bristol we're totally accustomed to travelling some distance to places that deliver incredible food, with an honest homely feel, which would give any fine dining restaurant a run for their money; The Pig, The Ethicurean, The Pony and Trap, The Newt… The Blaise Inn stands up to each and every one of these places. We visited today and were blown away by the food served. Just exceptional. Made better still as it was served up by a gentleman and lady who clearly enjoyed their jobs, clearly cared that we enjoyed our visit, and who with zero pomp nor pretence, made us feel incredibly welcome, at ease, and looked after. Sadly, this is a rare thing in pubs these days. An absolutely fantastic visit. Many thanks.
