Absolutely lovely place and great staff! Often go with the wife and kids after a local cycle. Food is always hot, freshly cooked and has a real homemade satisfying feel about it! Literally can’t fault the food or the staff, great to see the chef come out and chat too. Highly recommended 👌

We had booked a table online - a very easy progress to follow. We were warmly welcomed and shown to our table. The menu is varied with something for everyone's appetite. Our order was taken at the table. On this occasion I had ordered the smothered chicken. It arrived promptly and was hot and very tasty. THe portion size was generous and therefore good value for money. Unfortunately I was too full to try one of the desserts. The staff are friendly and helpful. The car park is small. We would return again.

Menu prices are out of date. Check the prices carefully - £4.25 fot a tiny bowl of chips couldn't decide if they were fresh or frozen, £4.70 for a pint ofWorthington. Had a baguet each - they were OK, but would have preferred a sandwich, although they were on the menu they apparently didn't have any. Won't be back.

Wanted to try a new lunch venue on a bank holiday Easter Monday and this fitted the bill . Lovely charm and character and feel and was given excellent service throughout . We ordered a sandwich with home cooked chunky chips and a Cumberland sausage and mash with onion gravy . On arrival ,which was in good time ,the sandwich was really fresh, the home cooked chunky chips were delicious The Cumberland sausages were 3 in total ,full.of flavour ,the mash was home made and with the fresh onions in gravy made it perfect, even put veg on the plate too . We will definitely be back here ,service ,food quality and overall experience was delightful Well done all at seven stars ,made our day

Pub looks lovely outside and in, it was very cosy and looked like it would offer good simple home cooked food. Sad to say food was Very disappointing. First time I’ve ever completely left my food when out to eat. I Ordered steak pie and chips, opened the pie to find one very small piece of steak in my pie and the rest was jelly gravy. Chips were clearly just frozen chips which were poor quality. No home cooking here. Staff were advised but there was No offer of changing food or any other compromise. Actually walked out feeling robbed! Would not recommend. 😔

Lovely old fashioned pub and staff very friendly but food doesn't taste like home cooked food or maybe reheated. Chips standard cheap and greasy. Desserts seemed bought in. I pay lower prices at local gastro pubs where everything is freshly made and cooked. Only 3 other tables occupied yet 'reserved' was on every table lol. Shame as it could be a little gold mine as in a beautiful area!

Second time we tried to visit this pub after a country walk. Depite website and google saying it is open from 12pm we have found it closed with no signs of life around 12. 30 on both occasions. I don't think we will bother trying again. We didnt mind sharing our custom with the lovely ladies at the village coffee shop tucked around the corner in the Village Hall. Seems a very poor show and a great shame as it looks like it could be a lovley pub. I have read that other people have had similar experiences. If you can't be bothered opening at 12 then it would make more sense to advertise the times you wish to be open.

Second time we tried to visit this pub with a group of friends. The website says it is open at 12 but on both occasions we arrived just after to find no signs of life around the place and car park cordoned off. Management need to sort out either the advertising or get the place open when it is supposed to be. After two attempts for lunch we will NOT be trying again. Thankfully had excellent service from the Village Coffee Shop situated across the road.

First time in a long time we've come back here as it wasn't great 7 years ago. So with a view to trying it again we had booked for a family birthday meal last week. On entering it was clear there had been little to no improvement to the decor since we were last here - my seat had a well ground in large stain on the fabric. Our 'welcome' by the staff member was underwhelming - nothing warm and friendly. The glasses provided for our wine, well 2 of them needed running through the dishwasher again. The toilets and the gents specifically were like something from the 1960s and not particularly clean, made worse by the noticeable rust and peeling paint on the floor, from the radiator. As to the food and with no doubt in my mind whatsoever at £18.95 - this was THE worst fish pie i've ever had. I had 5 pieces of fish in this - all diminutive in size and no salmon whatsoever despite this dish being described on the menu as having such. The mash was truly awful, akin to something from a microwave packet. As for the 'buttered peas' - no sign of any butter on them, instead they were dry and tasteless. The whole presentation of the dish was like something from the 1980s. When you consider how beautiful Thornton Hough is as a village, it should really have a pub which properly reflects its surroundings and not somewhere that is less than average in terms of its food offering, decor, toilet facilities and hospitality. It could and should, be so so much better......

Had a meal here last night before a gig at the Village Club next door. Ploughman's lunch was great, all other meals we saw coming out looked really good eg fish and chips, burgers. All looked freshly homemade food. Service and staff were great, owners very friendly and welcoming. Had one issue with a dessert but this was taken off the bill and apology issued no problem at all. We were even able to borrow an umbrella to walk in the pouring rain to the village club. Great traditional pub, beautiful location, nice staff, good food, will be returning.

So, a village pub that claims to serve food and claims to serve drinks. Telephoned at 6:30pm on a Saturday evening to see if we could book a table for that evening. They had stopped taking food orders...at 6:30! What happened to their 9pm food? Having dropped someone off in the village to attend a function, we then retreated to The Red Fox to eat, promising to return to the Seven Stars to have a drink with and collect the person we had dropped off. We returned to the Seven Stars just before 10pm, having noted their opening/closing times as quoted on-line. It was shut! At 10pm! So, take no notice of their supposed 12 noon - 9pm food Take no notice of their supposed 12am closing time. In fact, I shall take no notice of this pub and never go again.

Great you would of thought. Please see the picture of the potato i received. Absolutely disgusting. Seven stars should be ashamed to serve this. You could of added a bit of salad to dress them up. we came here for a sunday lunch after a wonderful weekend, the food itself took about 5 minutes to come out, the beef was thinner than any beef i have ever seen, tasted terrible - i wouldnt even feed it to a dog! my partners was equally as bad the chicken was rubbery and the potato’s were like they’d been sat there all day! very disapointing for what we thought was a gorgeous village pub!

Had a connection with this pub in the 70s and havent been back since! Wow its changed! Well its nothing like the old village pub it used to be but is now a very comfortable very welcoming pub. Not huge but a very nice size with very pleasant staff. I didnt sample the food but what I saw was very good. A Tuesday night seems to be ceilidh night and chatting to a couple of them I would say this is a very relaxed place to spend a few evening hours. Great to see it gain - Lovely

Well it’s 12 months since we were last at the Seven Stars, 24 of us. We had a great time then. We had an equally good time this time. That being last Thursday, 26th April ‘18. 28 hungry, ravenous, thirsty golfers after a hard day battling the elements at Wallasey. Very good food and excellent hospitality from mine host Carl Starkey, the landlord. Everyone to a man of the 28 of us enjoyed our visit. Next year’s trip to the Wirral is in planning. Guess where we’ll be eating the evening of our overnight stop? You’ve got it one .........⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Called in late afternoon for some food on the way home. Pub was pretty quiet mid week so we were welcomed and seated quickly.

Called for Sunday lunch. Whilst the young waiters were very efficient and welcoming, I am sad to say my beef was tough and stringy. The veg was piping hot and fresh. they did have gluten free gravy. Husband ploughed through his meat but not impressed. I left mine. I did mention to the waiter that beef was tough. There was no response. I would have mentioned it to manager but did not, as we decided just to leave. Probably not be on our must return to pub..

Nice old fashioned pub with friendly staff. Dining is basic stodgy pub fare but very over-priced. They need to either up their game or reduce their prices.

This is a cheerful enough pub and I think the food is cooked on the premises, which is nice. But the menu could do with a bit more variety. Very meat heavy (I only noticed one veggie dish) and very sauce and pastry and chips heavy. Would have preferred lighter more healthy alternatives. Had to make do with the soup with no bread as a healthy alternative - and the soup was very nice and homemade.

After a walk around the beautiful village on a very cold day, we visited this pub for a pot of tea and found it to be most welcoming with a blazing fire and very friendly staff. We decided to order a light lunch so we ordered sandwiches which were served quickly. The sandwiches were well filled and delicious with a side salad.

My wife and I called in for dinner and the staff were really helpful and attentive. For a Saturday night it was busy but not overcrowded. The food was well prepared , presented and served hot. Good food at reasonable prices. We will go back.

We visited as a family of five on Christmas eve. Food was really nice and the staff were really helpful regarding food allergies. We didn't have to wait too long for the food even though it was really busy

We were staying at the nearby Thornton Manor which was appalling and had no facilities for an evening meal, so having driven for six hours to get there we managed to find this little gem in nearby Thornton Hough. The pub was warm, friendly and welcoming. The staff were efficient and friendly and the food was excellent and fairly priced. Who could ask for more!

Why oh why can't you put a V sign on vegetarian food? I know you have a vegan menu (there is a difference between vegan and vegetarian, just lazy to have just vegan and think it will suit vegetarians). All menus should have V signs and also there is no mention of food intolerances, gluten free not mentioned either. On a sunny day there is outside seating but not one sun umbrella so too hot to sit out in bright sun. Noisy radio playing inside too, sad as this place used to be good and lovely environment. Won't return.

Mysterious, Quirky, Intriguing and most certainly very original and different. Whilst the Fort Perch Rock as a fort is closed to the public, the Cafe Eatery inside and open air and along the ramp is open and worth trying out. The Cafe is atmospherically dark like the bowels of a ship but quite an experience and the food menu is very reasonable. Be brave ..... and visit .... just for an experience.

My last visit a few years back with my family left much to be desired regarding the food quality. However, today's experience was utterly different. I enjoyed lovely fish and chips, featuring a generous portion of fish and crispy and hearty chips. The service was pleasant, and witnessing your efforts cleaning an already immaculate-looking establishment was pleasing. The staff was courteous and amiable towards my grandson. Continue on this path; you're doing a splendid job. We would not return we could not all have breakfast at the same time so could not eat with our daughter, husband and grandson. Could not eat at the times we wanted it was very short staffed and food items not topped up as they ran out so constantly having to ask for things like milk, butter, bread ,juice etc on the last morning the sausages were not even cooked properly it was a right fiasco we would not return here again.
