The highlight of Bottle Alley - great coffee and pastries, and a glass of wine with savoury snacks on the beach is an absolute joy. The service is always friendly, and when the sun's out this is one of the best spots in Hastings.

Lovely gem of a bar, great beer and wine and we had the squid plate which was delicious and perfect for sharing. Inside was cozy and fun for hunkering down on a cold day but they also have chairs and tables set out on the beach which will be lovely once the weather warms up. Fab place - would definitely recommend

A seafront restaurant and casual cafe. This is very unique serving oysters and smoked fish. Very pleasant host and nice beach vibes. This is a local gem and very friendly.

Walked in to a warm welcome from the guy working inside, had oysters and Bloody Mary. Fire was on, which was a bonus as freezing outside. Will come back in the summer to support this local business.

Waited ages for our food only for staff to give ours to a couple who arrived after us (who ordered the same food, but still... there is etiquette). Food was OK, but not worth the half hour wait.

Yesterday was the first time I tried oysters.. unfortunately they were not for me. But my friend said how amazing and fresh they were. Possibly the best she’s ever had and she’s a seafood queen. The staff were so lovely and welcoming. We sat inside to eat and then took a glass of wine and sat outside. Such a cozy spot. Thank you guys.

A perfect view of the sea and delicious seafood with lovely staff and a bottle of crisp white wine - what could be better? In a town with so many fabulous independent food businesses, this one is a delight. The oysters are special, the owner is charming and looking forward to spending time here again this summer. 10/10

Simple is best! The Selkie has this covered. Their simple menu of Charcuterie options - meat or fish - plus beer, wine or soft drinks is value for money and served with a smile. A perfect pause in a paddleboarding session.

Went in the cafe for breakfast this morning for the mayday annual bike meet in Hastings. One sausage, one bacon, one egg,one hash brown, chips, watery tasteless beans and a soggy tinned tomato £13.50 Says online they are closed today so they clearly just opened for the bike even to rip everyone off.

Terrible. I visited this place after viewing a house nearby (which I now live in) and endured an absolutely horrific experience. It started when I began choking on a fish pâté that was unexpectedly filled with bones — no warning, no indication, until it was too late. The bones caused internal bleeding in my throat. In a panic, I rushed to the toilet to try and remove them, only to be met by staff who were frantically panicking themselves, repeatedly telling me they’d never seen anything like it — as if I had! It was terrifying, traumatic, and ended with me spending the rest of the day and night in A&E. I was so hungry I ended up eating the free cheesecake the café gave me… which unfortunately just tasted like grease and oil. While the staff did cover the bill, I strongly recommend urgent training in food safety and emergency response. This situation could have been so much worse.
