A lovely spot for breakfast! A quaint cafe with good coffee in the heart of Hastings old town. Attentive service, plus make sure you grab some incredible cake to go (portions so big we had it over two meals later that day). When visiting Hastings, it can be challenging to decide where to eat, especially if you're unfamiliar with the area. There's nothing worse than having a disappointing lunch experience. However, today was different for us. We stumbled upon a restaurant that exceeded our expectations. The interior had a pleasant and tasteful decor, and the crockery was carefully selected. We both opted for soups and were thoroughly satisfied with our choice. The soups came with high-quality bread and a generous serving of butter. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, making us feel right at home. We will definitely be returning to this restaurant. Thank you for the wonderful experience.

My husband and I had such a lovely time at Petit Fi. We were welcomed with open arms, a friendly chat and a great introduction to the incredible selection of hand-made on the premises cakes and tarts. My husband had the black forest gateuex and a double espresso, I choose the apricot tart, which was mouth wateringly delicious with a pot of peppermint tea. I wss offered a choice of pouring or clotted cream to have with my tart..pure perfection.. Thank you! It was sublime* Can't recommend highly enough. We'll be back soon for the lemon meringue cake

Was not give option to ask for no hollendaise, came up cold and poached eggs were over done...older lady was rude, not at all welcoming... althoght we were not charged for one dish she could have simply offered to replace it...for nearly a tenner for 2 eggs on muffins I,d advise to avoid at all cost...go down the road to a friendly and tastier dish at Fagins!

A fabulous find! On a grey and drizzly day during our mini break in the area, we were looking for a bite to eat, and stumbled across this wonderful place. The food was great, as was the welcome. It was obviously used by local people who came here regularly, which is always a good recommendation. We enjoyed our lunch ( I had mackerel pate) and felt so relaxed that we stayed longer to try the coffee and cake. The chocolate and Guiness cake is recommended. The waitress, who I can only identify by her beautiful red lipstick, was welcoming, respectful, friendly, and didn't hurry us. We would definitely recommend Petit Fi.

An oasis of good coffee, good company, and good cake! Plenty to choose from a breakfast and lunch menu that is uncomplicated but freshly cooked and delicious. It is also a hub of local people and visitors alike, who get a relaxed but attentive service and care from all who work there. The style is a little like when you have everyone round and they've spilled out of the kitchen and into your from room. Comfortable and collective.

I’m writing this review out of sheer disgust at the owner of this business. We have visited Petit Fi quite regularly for some time, and have enjoyed it. We also used to visit the owner’s other business, Petit Balcon. We liked it so much that we booked to have our wedding reception there soon after it opened. Invites were sent to around 60 guests at the time. Last week we noticed that Petit Balcon looked closed for several days and so we visited Petit Fi to double check that everything was ok as we had become concerned. A very friendly staff member there, who we’ve come to know, advised us that it had almost certainly closed. We explained that we had a wedding reception booked there for three months time and had not even been contacted about this. She looked horrified and called the owner to double check for us. She returned and said the owner could not talk to us but would call us back soon. I gave my number just in case the owner did not have it to hand. I felt incredibly sorry for this staff member, she is a lovely lady and clearly found herself in a horrible situation as my partner began to become tearful at this news - she had been really excited and spent a lot of time deciding on a Reception venue. We were both disappointed that our venue had closed, but more upset that there had not been the decency to contact us to let us know this - and left us to find out by effectively ‘seeing the shutters go up.’ It’s a pretty rotten way to treat anyone who has supported and regularly spent money at both of your businesses and who has chosen to have one of the most special celebrations of their lives at one of them. We waited, and waited. No call came. It’s now five days on and the owner still hasn’t bothered to contact us… This is an utterly disdainful way to treat loyal customers. I understand mistakes and oversights sometimes happen - but when a significant one is brought to your attention and you still do nothing, that’s pretty unforgivable not to follow up and try to make good - a simple apology and human decency costs nothing. We have now been looking for a new venue to hold our celebration, at relative short notice, (not to mention having to send out 60 new invites at significant cost). On speaking to potential new venues we have been telling them about the experience we have had with the the owner of Petit Fi / Balcon. All have been shocked. We have also been telling friends too. The Old Town is a small place and bad reputations travel fast when you don’t make any attempt to ‘do the right thing.’

If you want a quick bite in Hastings, then this is likely the best place. Simply head and shoulders above your average cafe/tearoom. Cakes are all homemade, and absolutely delicious, outstanding actually, 'national bake off' quality! The savoury food is also top notch, wouldn't be out of place in a posh restaurant. With attention paid to even the side salads that come with many of the dishes, a lovely selection of lesser used leaves. Quiet when we went, so service was quick and efficient, the place itself is nice too, with tables spaced apart enough to relax, nice vibe here, love it. For the quality the prices are very reasonable too.

BEWARE!!!! I ordered the smoked fish chowder, which listed the ingredients on the menu as fish, potatoes, vegetables. I enjoyed the chowder whilst chatting to a friend, but to my dismay, on reaching the bottom of the bowl, I discovered several pieces of bacon. I am pescatarian and haven’t eaten meat for over 30 years. When we spoke with the waiting staff and calmly expressed my dismay, she stated that this had happen before and that they were planning to review the menu! So they knew that there was an issue with the description of the dish, and had not yet changed it. However, due to the fact that I had eaten the majority of the dish, she had to charge me fully for it. I was shocked and didn’t really know how to express my dismay. I feel that if I had raised my voice or made a scene that she wouldn’t have charged me for the dish, but due to me being quiet and calm, she felt that I don’t really mind finding meat in the dish. I really did!!!!! I was left with a stomach upset and distressed at having inadvertently eaten meat.

Lovely café serving lunch and fab looking cakes in the heart of Hastings Old Town. Excellent sandwiches and toasties. Waitress offered to toast the bread rather than the whole sandwich when I ordered the hummus, carrot and pepper sandwich, which turned out to be a perfect combo. Came with a small tasty salad on the side. My husband had the Brie & Chorizo sandwich and my friend the Cheddar & Chutney (she’d sampled the chutney here before and wanted it again). Bread was very fresh and all were great sandwich combos. Gluten free bread is also available if needed. They also do a Soup of the Day and Dhal of the Day which looked good (we saw on the next table). Lunch is served between 12-4pm. There was a good selection of cakes on show to choose from by the counter (choice of cakes that day on my photos). Between us we had the Banana Loaf, Lemon Meringue cake and Lemon vegan cake. The table next to us were praising their Carrot and Walnut cakes. Cakes are all home-made on the premises with generous slices. Café was clean, as were toilets. The service was efficient and staff very friendly. It was busy when we visited mid-week which is a good sign as there are a number of independent cafes alongside it.
