Beautifully presented but seriously under seasoned. Very disappointed. Atmosphere was nice and the staff were friendly, however the food tasted quite bland and needed a LOT of salt.

Cosy place. Food nice but nothing extraordinary. With such high ratings we were expecting a wow factor which we didn’t get. We had quite a long wait for mains to be served. Good value for money though.

Best pasta I have ever eaten! I usually avoid pasta as most places I go I don't find it meets the expectations of something we make so often at home but this pasta was amazing! I went for the beef short rib ragu and it was probably the best pasta I have ever eaten!!! Not overly rich and also perfectly portioned so was the perfect amount to fill me up. My little boy had the mushroom and cheese pasta and they were able to make me a child portion for him when i asked. This is deffo my treat evening out restaurant and on a side note cocktails in the winter in this place are just the best as it has a real nice cosy feel

Been coming here since it opened and always had amazing food, brilliant cocktails and the atmosphere no matter what time of day you come is lovely, the owners are so friendly and will do anything for you and the rest of the staff the same, the new pasta dishes this year have been so delicious and they cater for all dietary requirements too, it's a gem in our old town

We stumbled across this little place in Hastings. Drawn in by the super sleek decor and vegan options, we were not disappointed! The vegan pesto gnocchi was so tasty and their ice tea was delicious also. So excited to have found this place and will definitely be going back!

Ate here at the end of July, the weather was great so we sat out in the front courtyard area of old town. The food was lovely, service great and we really enjoyed the atmosphere. Will definitely return.

We had lunch today for the first time at Ladle and will definitely go back. The atmosphere is lovely, friendly staff who were attentive. Food......we had ragu and carbonara both were fantastic then brownie and tiramisu again fantastic. Thank you for a wonderful lunch.

One of the most delicious meals in a very long time! Crab and Nduja tagliatelle

If you like pasta dishes with creamy sauces this is the place for you. They clearly use high quality ingredients and produce some tasty dishes. The service was also very good, although let down at the start when we arrived on time having booked a table, but clearly no table had been reserved. The cocktails we had were OK but we've had better and the wine was adequate but at £10 a glass it was a bit overpriced. Would we try it again, not for pasta as it just wasn't for us, but maybe for breakfast, because as I said, food quality is good, location is good and the service always comes with a smile. They deserve every success.

Small pasta restaurant. Prices a bit steep, I had tagliatelle with salmon, it was okay, but bland, not seasoned and not very cheesy. Sides weren't served with our meal, even though we requested this, they arrived 10 minutes later. Ice cream, we were told, would be on the house for a birthday. Nice. However it was then stated on the bill, so clearly a lack of staff communication, waiter apologised. I was slightly disappointed with the meal and service for the high price, at £100 for x4, x1 dessert, with x1 wine and x1 beer. The water with cucumber slices was pleasant, but not chilled.

Ladle is amazing for family and a perfect date night spot!! I went with my partner and little brother (who’s a vegetarian and a bit picky) and it was really lovely. My brother got the basil pesto and gnocchi and he was IN LOVE!! Me and my partner got the beef short rib ragu and safe to say we were impressed!! It felt like eating a home cooked meal, no greasy or bloating feeling after the meal, which is something I know most people would experience when eating out. Definitely will be visiting again and trying everything on the menu, thank you so much ladle, your staff was so kind and your food was incredible ☺️

We had a lovely lunch there on 12th July 2024. Service, ambience, drinks, food 10/10! It’s quite a small place so I would say it’s best to book a table. Highly recommend 🙂

My husband and I have been eating in Ladle since it opened. We live in Hastings and it is by far our favourite restaurant. The service is always friendly and the food has NEVER disappointed. We’d recommend it to anyone looking for delicious food in the Old Town.

I visited Hastings for the first time this weekend (usually live and eat in Brighton). I was blown away by how amazing our food was at ladle tonight. The lovely team accommodated us quickly and service was prompt and friendly. Two of us were gluten free and this seemed to be no issue and welcomed! Lots of the dishes could be made gluten free and had the choice of pasta, spaghetti and gnocchi! Usually a GF person would expect a surcharge for ingredients but this was not the case AND portion size was the same as gluten eaters for once :O we were too full to fit in any of the amazing looking cocktails but will try when we visit again. A cosy little café with good views of the bustling street (love to get a window seat) which does a good oat decaf coffee and delicious vegan banana choc loaf.

I turned up just on a wet and cold day just before 4pm when the kitchen was just about to close. The chef made me a delicious soup and a really tasty carbonara. Service was great, my dog was made a fuss of and I felt a lot better than I had when I arrived. Really lovely little place to eat and drink in lovely George Street.

Visited in July 2023. 4.5/5. We came to Hastings for a long weekend to celebrate our anniversary. We came to Ladle for our anniversary dinner, as it was highly recommended on Google Maps. It was a very good choice. The food, like the majority in the area, was incredibly fresh and tasty. The service was polite. The space was intimate. Disappointed that there was no special token to mark the anniversary, but not a dealbreaker. We had hummus starter, seafood pasta for mains and shared a dessert. Definitely recommend Ladle. Their menu changes seasonally.

A superb find in Hastings Old Town. We were made very welcome and our pasta meals were cooked freshly almost in front of us. They were delicious and very good value for money. We would definitely return whenever we return to the area.

We popped in for the first time after hearing good reviews. We had garlic bread and bread with anchovy butter to share which was more than enough and then two pasta dishes. I was reccomended the red pepper pasta by the lady serving and it did not disappoint. The service was great and it had a nice atmosphere. The cucumber water was a nice touch. We hope to return again child free to try some other dishes!

We had a stunningly delicious meal at Ladle in Hastings. We had crab and nduja linguine, and three cheese and porcini mushroom tagliatelle. Both dishes tasted incredible and were beautifully presented. The cocktails were perfection and the service was outstanding. We will definitely be going back to try all dishes and cocktails on the menu. Ladle is also very dog friendly. Thank you Ladle for a fantastic culinary experience!

Superb food, exquisite presentation. We had olives, smoked garlic butter on sourdough, charcuterie board, courgette and smoked salmon waffles and crab linguine followed by banana and walnut bread. All were absolutely delicious!

Well, well, well. Absolutely delicious food. A small selection of well thought out meals. Fabulous selection of cocktails at good prices. Their cocktail hour offers two for £15! Service was good. Out side seating available. Not the biggest of places to eat, with a dozen or so tables inside. I must say that I had the best salad there. I’m really into salads and am constantly disappointed with restaurants where I walk out after eating a salad feeling hungry. This place was the opposite. Delicious, hearty salad. Their goulash was also delicious. Highly recommend!

Lovely service and best chai latte I’ve ever tasted!

I want to start by saying the staff were really lovely and attentive. Presentation of the food was nice and the portion sizes were good. The cocktails were also inventive and tasty. However, the food was really average for the price. I had the seafood linguine and it tasted more like spaghetti hoops. It was under seasoned and a bit mushy. My partner had the pork loin that was supposed to come with red wine jus. There was no red wine in the gravy at all. We think the pork might have been frozen. When ladle first opened it was really nice, hence why I chose to go there for my birthday meal, but unfortunately like most restaurants along George Street now, it’s over priced low quality food. I really hate to give bad reviews, however we were only asked how the meal was after we’d paid.

Some of the best (& reasonable priced) food I’ve had for ages. Generous portions, beautiful presentation, tasty, thoughtful dishes (sunblushed tomatoes are the best I’ve ever had). My husband’s gluten free … no problem; delicious GF bread. Our waitress was lovely; smiley, knowledgeable & thoughtful (eg ‘shall I split the two starters half & half so one can be gluten free?’). The place is small & funky with lots of thoughtful touches. If I lived nearby I’d be firmly ensconced every Sunday for coffee, brunch & a newspaper. Thank you for a lovely time. A total gem.

Set on a bustling little street and surrounded by historic architecture, we were attracted into Ladle by the sight of people, inside and out, clearly having a brilliant time. We were not disappointed with our lovely lunch. I don't know how they turn out food of such amazing quality in such a tiny place! My husband had fillets of sea bass on a bed of crushed new potatoes and crab, nestling in a deep pool of creamy watercress sauce. I had their salad bowl, rich with avocado, feta and seeds. Everything was super fresh and bursting with flavour. We had a nice reasonably-priced bottle of chilled Pinot Grigio and finished up with a pastel de nata and ice cream, and a magnificent dark chocolate delice with whipped coconut cream and strawberries. Ladle seems to be a local favourite, and I can see why. Really great food at a good price and a nice atmosphere. The whole experience was so nice we had to go back the next day to do it all again, this time managing to get a table outside in the late September sunshine! Will definitely visit again when we're back in Hastings.

My fried Phil and I went to college in Hastings 30 years ago and go back every 10 years for a walk down memory lane. We always have a good meal and this year was no exception: we chanced upon this wonderful place where I had the steak and mushroom tagliatelle. Great food, great atmosphere and we loved the way the neighbour’s cat wandered in at closing time. We hope to go back sometime.

Food is tasty and fresh. Portions are on the slightly smaller size for the price. My fish fillet had three fairly large bones in it, which isn't ideal for a fish fillet. But otherwise, nice small place, lovely and attentive staff and a good selection of different food options

Ladle is a great hidden gem! I have been to this establishment many times and it is my weekend go to lunch spot! Cocktails are incredible but most importantly the service is fantastic! The owners are perfectionists! This is a must go to in Hastings!

Ladle has been on my list for ages but it's always been full when I've been in the area. Got a table on pirate day, of all days! They had cocktails on the specials menu which is always a winner for me. Both my husband and I both had plates from the specials menu, also and it was absolutely delicious. I ordered a vegan & GF meal so that my son who has a range of allergies could share it with me. He ended up not wanting to eat any (typical) but I still really enjoyed it, which I think is so impressive for something that is everything free!! Everything is made to order by the chef in the tiny little kitchen right next to the tables! Friendly service too, we'll definitely be back - though I can see why it's hard to get a table!

Lovely little find! In the heart of the old town, small and quaint. Staff are lovely, welcoming and accommodating. Food was amazing, being a pescatarian they made me a personalised dish, as I fancied pasta, and the only pasta dish had meat! It was delicious! The banana loaf was also amazing and homemade. Definitely worth a visit. Best atmosphere and food since we have been here.

Overall an excellent place. Fresh ingredients, friendly service and fairly priced. Had the sea-bass special and it was among the best dishes I have had in this area. Highly recommend. It is a small place, so best suited for a smaller group.

A quiet and romantic small bistro, serving a small menu. Delicious potted crab sharing starter and fresh mackerel with a super potato salad for mains. Good service too.
