Lovely pub. Great staff, welcoming atmosphere and locals, and great location for a drink after visiting the beach, Stade, or Old Town.

A lovely pub with great friendly staff and good food.

The food was amazing, with plenty of toppings on the pizzas and nachos at a very reasonable price. Speedy service, as soon as we ordered, the guy was out the back, firing up the wood fuelled pizza oven. Very relaxed and friendly atmosphere. We ate in the garden, which clearly had a lot of time and effort spent on it to make look really cool. We will be visiting again.

A superb traditional pub located in the old town close to the sea front. Serving excellent local beers, lagers & a great selection of pizzas, fresh fish & salads. Music courtesy of a super collection of vinyl albums in a true analogue style, what more can you ask for. Thanks to the staff for a warm welcome & nice chat 👍

Music from band or the stack of old vinyl in the corner. Nice shaded beer garden and excellent pizza from a wood fired oven. You can't go wrong here.

After a disastrous experience yesterday with a local establishment; what a change. Full roast and a pint with change for a second pint. The plate overflowing. The gravy outstanding. So good I asked for a couple of slices of bread to mop it up. Family, parties or solo check this one out. I'm definitely returning next Sunday.

Woman of some description having a conversation with her partner on her mobile behind the bar, didn’t even put it down to pull a pint. Not even a hello, very unwelcoming Simply wouldn’t bother

Lovely traditional pub. Only one ale on when we visited - understandable as it was mid-January - but it was perfect. Barman friendly and welcoming. Pizzas from their pizza oven looked good. Will be back to try one.

So happy me and my partner stumbled across this place, staff were polite with speedy service. We sat by the fire enjoying a pint, great value for money. We will definitely be back

Nice traditional pub on the sea front in Hastings. Good selection of beers, with great pizzas cooked on a food fired oven in the beer garden. This is a great location to hang out when there is something going on in town. There is a cheese bingo, but I haven't had a chance to go yet.

Lovely Sunday lunch with plenty of private parking

Always welcomed and they do the greatest pizza. Lovely properly cooked bases no soggy bottoms.

Brilliant homely roast. Will be returning for a meal soon. Pity about the bar selection, could have been a lot better. The pub itself is like a tardis. Way bigger than you expect and room outside for alfresco dinning.

Nice courtyard on a warm day. We were on bikes so they could be seen. Water for dogs. Lovely light lunch. Old fashioned pub interior. Highly recommend.

We went on a Friday afternoon, after school, sat in the back garden, had a couple of beers, pizza and chips, my kids loves it and food was amazing.

Miserable man behind the bar which I beleive is the landlord,just get on with your job, no need for such a gusture

This place is a gem. The staff are helpful and friendly, the real ale was kept very well and the Pizzas looked so good we had to return the following day and weren’t disappointed. The Chefs (I assume a couple) took pride in their food and were we here longer we’d have definitely had the Sunday roast too. I’m picky, fussy and don’t generally give reviews let alone rave reviews but this place despite appearance is well worth a visit on all fronts. Excellent!!!!!

A super friendly and funny young bartender. 5 stars for the service. There is no service for drinks. :-) Get it yourself from the counter. Only the food is brought and that's great. The location is just a traditional pub. We really liked it. Music came from David Bowie records. We will be back.

Whatever you do have a pizza, proper hand pulled wood fired job with loads of great toppings at a ridiculously reasonable price. The stuffed paratha (with Mediterranean fillings was also exceptional. Bar staff friendly and couldn’t have been more helpful. This has got to be a definite visit!

We lived in Hastings a few years ago and this was our favourite pub. Visited again recently and it is still great. Lovely atmosphere the manager is welcoming and with a great sense of humour. A couple of record decks playing vinyl LPs plus live bands, wood fired pizza oven and a great garden. Heaven!

On another weekend break in Hastings we booked Sunday lunch as last time it was so good. Roast lamb and the nut roast served with generous vegetables, Yorkshire puds and separate gravy. All delicious. A lovely friendly vibe to this local pub and highly recommended.

Good pub, old style with a good choice of beers. Handy as it's a good location on the seafront, with car park opposite.

Great pub. Came here today for a mid-afternoon drink with my partner, our 4-year-old daughter and partner's mum. We have been here a number of times over the past few years. It has always been terrific (would get here more were it not for small daughter). Lovely staff, nice regulars and the pizzas look so good. We have made a pledge to come back more

I went here with my wife and son who's 10 and has autism the female member of staff was talking to my sun telling him she has a double Brazilian and would not leave him alone then a guy who knows her started to get abusive and butted into a conversation I told him it had nothing to do with him he then got aggressive I stood up to him and defended myself I then left round the back the landlord then told me to leave the pub when he let the other guy back in I tried to explain he started it with the female member if staff talking inappropriately to my son and he told me to go what king of pub is he running when he let's wierdos like that work there and allows thugs in he's so called family pub and throws out victims of there abuse do go there avoid

Wonderful afternoon with a delicious Sunday roast, roaring fire, friendly folk and the bonus of a live reggae music band. A proper local pub with great staff, reasonably priced drinks and clearly a favourite in Hastings.

A "proper" local English pub, inside it's a homely, old, well-worn and cosy place that looks like it hasn't been updated in a century (and that's probably what it actually is) the kind of place so many modern themed pubs try so hard to emulate. Staff are friendly and the customers cover the entire spectrum of humanity, it seems everyone is welcome here.

They had great music playing from vinyl, top atmosphere, oh and the beer slipped down well.

Had a beautiful roast on Sunday, was really impressed. They were busy and they informed us there was an hour wait so we had a drink. Have to say it was really worth the wait and I'm definitely going back for another Sunday roast.

The Royal Standard consistently has the best vegan Sunday Lunch anywhere or equal to the best. The cook will come out and discuss you wish and do it just so.

Since moving to Hastings in December this has become our favourite place for a drink. Friendly staff, clean, and lovely garden. Mojitos are lovely!

We traveled to Hastings from London, for a quick get away. We stopped at the Royal Standard for lunch and ate in a beautiful outside garden. We had the sausage and red pepper pizza. It was amazing! We watched as they baked it in their outside pizza oven. Everyone who works there were so kind. We will definitely stop in again, then next time we’re in Hastings.

We stopped here after walking around Hastings Old Town area and beach. We sat outside and had drinks in the sun which was relaxing. The service was very good and the samples of beer on offer a great idea as the first one I tried was not for me. The second was perfect. Would certainly call in again if we are in Hastings.

Beer is very tasty and pizzas are as good as monnelli in the old town..

Came here for a lazy afternoon drink and stayed for several. Really relaxed atmosphere, the lady on duty was really welcoming and conversational, and she was spinning some great vinyl!

We knocked on the door just before opening time on a Sunday morning and we're still warmly welcomed by the bubbly staff. The food choice was a bit restricted for a Sunday but the food we chose was absolutely delicious. A lovely environment and perfect location in Hastings!

Exceeded expectations! We arrived in the rain, wet and cold, to an empty pub ( it was early) .. ordered nachos, pizzas and burger. Absolutely delicious, superb food .....

We stopped off for a quick drink but got so comfortable in the beer garden that we ended up staying all night.

Loved the look of the garden when passing one evening so made a note to come back to this on a recent break to Hastings. We got a table in the garden at 7.30pm and the board said food served until 8 so we just had enough time. Unfortunately there was a lot off the menu (only reason I removed a star) so we went for the pizzas. I have to say this was a great decision as they were handmade (we watched them be made through the kitchen window) and then cooked in the outside pizza oven. The chef was great and the pizza delicious. One of the nicest meals we had during our week stay. There was also a man playing the guitar in the garden which made the atmosphere even nicer. Bar staff seemed a little confused when trying to order but were pleasant and polite. We ate here as a group of 3 adults and 3 children and were made to feel comfortable and welcome - some places advertised no children at all or after a certain time. The lights and bunting really make the garden a lovely place to sit.

Lovely pub, the beer garden was very surprising, absolutely gorgeous and a friendly pub cat came to say hello. Definitely will come again if in the area
