The before and after photos are enough of a review, but we went for a Steak & Harveys ale pie, a Cheddar & caramelised onion pie, both with perfect chunky chips, thick flavoursome gravy plus red cabbage, and tenderstem broccoli sides. Thanks.

Absolutely amazing pies and food and the service was absolutely amazing so attentive and wonderful happy and amazing lady server. However one thing I will say, when we got home all 5 of us had to visit the lavs for a tftb. Not sure if that says more about our constitution than the wonderful food, but that's a fact. We will be going back. I highly recommend.

Wow. Visited this venue last year to get out of the rain. So decided to book this year to try their pies. We stayed 3 hours. What an atmosphere, amazing food, great people watching. Very popular which is lovely to see. Staff friendly and worked their socks off. If you didn’t know how great it was you could easily miss out on the gem that is the Albion. Oh and live music whether it is piano or an artist. So wish this was my local

Great pub with a variety of different drinks. The bar also has limited time offer drinks, which are generally local to Sussex. Food is amazing. Cheesy chip with cheese sauce is delicious. They are very flexible with an adult having a children's portion (which I know some resturants don't like that). Pie's are delicious and great that you can chose how you'd like your potatoes. The pub is generally busy and has a great atmosphere.

While my opinion of their Pasty Shack regular pasty is that it's unspectacular and a little oily, their sausage rolls are wonderful! Thankfully low salt yet very tasty and with a great texture. A high quality thick sausage and thin, flaky roll. In a higher league than Greggs and most probably the best in town. It's these Sausage Rolls that the Albion should push at their Pasty Shack, not their pasties, They could also push them in their bar with people who don't go there to eat but drink as a great snack accompaniment to a drink (special promo deal, buy a pint and get a sausage roll for half price). Staff manning the Shack are very warm, friendly and accommodating.

Let me say this straight : this vast, wonderful and beautiful pub facing the sea in Old Town Hastings serves the best Sunday roast we have ever had while visiting the UK! Beautiful food but appalling service. We arrived early for our 12.30 lunch and were the first people in the restaurant. We ordered two steak and kidney pie roast dinners and one steak and kidney pie, chips, meat gravy and tenderstem broccoli with lemon and black pepper oil. The order was brought to the table was: two steak and kidney pudding roast dinners. We said that isn’t what we ordered and they were taken away. Then the waitress returned to say it would be a while. So we decided to have the puddings instead. She returned with them and another pudding with chips etc! When we told her that still wasn’t right she told us that there were no steak and kidney pies left! A pub that is famous for its pies running out of a staple at 12.30 lunchtime!! If that was true why weren’t we told when we ordered instead of when the incorrect meals were brought out. So we decided to keep the third pudding too! The tenderstem wasn't cooked and there was no lemon and pepper oil! But we gave up and tucked in. The rest of the food was excellent. We ordered two desserts. The waitress returned - one of the dessert choices had run out. So we ordered an alternative. Again early on in service an item is out of stock! We waited, and waited, and waited. I asked the waitress would they be much longer and shortly a different waitress arrived, left ONE dessert and shot off. She didn’t leave any cutlery! Second dessert didn’t arrive so the manager was summoned. She agreed that the service had been shoddy. She then tried to defend it “it’s a bank holiday and people make mistakes”. It’s a pub in Hastings - they really should have planned for the weekend particularly with all the bank holiday festivities going on. She did give a discount on our meal - but we’d have been happier with full price and good service. So to summarise: 3 meals not as ordered 1 staple pie choice out of stock by lunchtime!! 1 side not cooked and without it’s sauce. 1 dessert with nothing to eat it with. 1 dessert not available early on in service. 1 dessert that never arrived. We were in there for over two hours having been served and eaten ONE course. People do make mistakes but seven over one lunchtime! Really! Previous reviews were excellent on the whole. I can only hope or imagine that this abysmal service was a once off.

Place was recommended but sadly I was hugely disappointed with The Albion. Let's start with the caveated positive, the pies are decent. Pastry was flaky and the filling soft as you would expect. Mash and gravy were also good although my pie was barely warm but the sauce just about compensated. It was all served on cold plates which didn't help. Anyway all in all ok but not exceptional, price reasonable enough. Worth noting I had to season the food too. The service was atrocious. Basically a bunch of people staring at mobile phones forgetting what they were supposed to be doing. A table next to us for 'Keith and Joy' hadn't been cleared even though they had left sometime past. Its off putting to see dirty crockery left for so long, it was partially cleared just before we left so had been there at least 90 minutes. Worth noting the venue was practically empty so there was no obvious reason for this cleanliness issue. Our bill was wrong although I didn't notice until we got home. We weren't charged for drinks that we had but were charged for sides which were included in the price. Suspect it balanced out but again shows how the staff were distracted by their mobile phones. We were offered a bowl of water for the dogs which arrived some fifteen minutes later. As for the venue, it's a bit tired. We moved table because the countertop could be made to move up and down with the faintest of touches. It was just all a bit grotty rather than rustic. I'm sure on a busy evening it may have been better but on our Wednesday afternoon visit it was all a bit casual and average.

We sat on a table which had 3+ hours until the reservation was claimed. Once we sat down and looked to order, we were turned away by staff because they were "fully booked". We were collectively confused why they continued to turn away more customers that were sitting on tables that were reserved for evening guests. We intended to stay as to have a drink, and maybe a bite to eat. The pub had lovely atmosphere, wasn't allowed to have any food, and the service was dismissive and rude. I heard the food is great here, hopefully some people are are allowed to eat in this empty restaurant.
