Food was super delicious, highly recommend the muscles to start, huge portion for the price! We both had the haddock and it was outstanding, including the chips which were amazing. Aimee was super attentive and made sure everything was great!

The last time I was in Brighton, several years ago, I had a meal at The Seahorse which was OK, but I wasn't made to feel very welcome as a solo diner. So this time, I wasn't planning to consider it. However, it was a beautiful, sunny day and walking past I saw people on the upper terrace and just thought it looked like the perfect place for lunch. I am so glad I gave it another chance. I was given the menus and told to choose where I wanted to sit, so I picked a perfect spot, overlooking the beach. From then on, everything was perfect - the food (chicken, leeks and wild mushrooms, tender stem broccoli and fries, followed by black forest trifle) was wonderful. Perfectly cooked, fresh and tasty and very well presented. Wine choices were excellent. I was not once made to feel unwelcome, or even rushed. The service was very friendly and attentive. It is not a cheap place, but then you do have a fantastic location, top quality food and wine and great service. And everything is so much more expensive now. You get what you pay for, and I think it is worth it. I will most certainly look to come here again next time I'm in Brighton.

Excellent food and ambience for a seaside lunch or dinner. Their desserts are not to be missed.

Hard to give stars for atmosphere when there was only 8 people in restaurant when we arrived, was only one other couple left, by the time our food arrived, the food was Ok, not amazing, and was quite expensive for what it was, I'm sure in the height of summer the place is very lively and full. Compliments to the 2 waitresses who were very prompt and attentive, and to be fair there service saved this place getting alot lower rating.

Lovely restaurant situated on Brighton seafront. Service was excellent, especially the handsome Aussie gent who was very friendly and gave great recommendations. All our food was cooked to perfection - I had the sea bass with mussels and Thai green sauce which was absolutely delicious. Only criticism of the food was that it was served a bit lukewarm. I would like to offer some constructive criticism as I really enjoyed my meal here but one thing really let it down. The restaurant needs a really good clean. There was thick dust and cobwebs behind the blinds and around the lampshades. The tables wasn’t very clean and one of the water glasses had lipstick on, and the glass bottles the water was served in were also unclean. I hope this can be addressed as it was a bit off putting (see photo, which was right next to where I was eating), but otherwise I loved my meal here.

Very nice place for a drink on a summers day - it is expensive but the setting is worth it. Would go again - aperol was very nice.

Over priced and small portions. I ordered the mussels as a starter which were nice except unfortunately gritty…. My main was the cod with 4 mussels and vegetables. The cod was a very small and thin pathetic piece for the price, it didn’t taste fresh either and was very disappointing. I had to order a portion of chips which were lovely but should really come with the fish and expensive portion at £4.99 The best part of the meal was the cheese board but again quite small. The venue is nice , the staff were pleasant. The manager was told by the waitress about our complaint but instead of coming over to speak to us we saw him laughing so that says it all…….. We shall not be returning!!

Being charged £11.20 for a gin & ginger beer definitely made me see horses.

We've eaten at the Seahorse a few times and had a 40th birthday there so my wife and I decided to have our wedding lunch and party there. The day was first class and Bex and her team were so helpful in helping us arrange everything. They are also very accommodating and nothing was too much trouble for them. If anyone is reading this then pay them a visit, great restaurant, great location and lovely staff. Thank you again for everything!

As a local we have eaten here many times over the years, the location/sea view is unbeatable in Brighton. The current offering is the best it has been BUT I am not sure why you ask if it is a special occasion on the booking if you don’t intend to offer anything special when told it is a birthday celebration. Also it would be nice if there was a wine available costing below £28 As per a previous reviewer I found the main course mussels portion too small. Initially I was given about 10. When I complained I was given a few more so about 16 in total . I agree this would be more acceptable If offered with fries instead of bread. The sauce with the mussels was excellent as was the seafood sharer we enjoyed for our starter.

I had my son’s Wedding Reception at the Seahorse. The Staff and the Service was excellent, the food was Delicious. The views were amazing looking over the sea such a beautiful setting. Bex is so professional and organised the venue to perfection. The Wedding Party and the Guests were so impressed when they saw Ray (The Manager) dressed in the Kilt as the venue was semi based on a Scottish Theme with a Scottish Piper playing the Pipes. Thank you Ray you are a Top Notch’ guy you look great in the Kilt 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿. Also a huge thank you and all the staff for such a wonderful day/evening. I will definitely recommend the Seahorse for a Wedding Reception. Everyone enjoyed themselves.

Perfect location, wonderful reasonable fresh food and the most sincerely friendly service! Casual and relaxed atmosphere - you don't want to leave. So good we came twice during our weekend break.

My brother and sister in law just had their wedding reception at the Seahorse and it was fantastic. The venue was light and fresh and had excellent views of the sea and beaches. The facilities were clean and excellent with a lovely bar. The staff were brilliant and very friendly. I want to give a special thanks to Ray who was first class. He really went out his way to help us and is such a lovely, friendly guy. Ray and all the staff were perfect. The food was very nice and everyone had something they liked. The buffet was lovely too. The sound equipment was very good too and the volume was perfect for the dancing. The wedding was a complete success and we are very grateful to the Seahorse for all their efforts and abilities.

We had an amazing evening watching the sunset on our annual family trip to Brighton. Service was super friendly and attentive, they truly made our night and the venue is gorgeous. We especially enjoyed the prawn starter, the mussels and probably the best chunky chips we've ever had, crispy on the outside, smooth in the middle, the chefs truly have mastered it! Looking forward to going back!

We hired the Seahorse for a private function for 50 people. We would thoroughly recommend it. The location is stunning, the food was excellent and the staff were friendly abd helpful. We and all our friends were impressed.

Eines der schicken Lokale an der Seafront, das zwar gute Küche anbietet, aber etwas überteuert ist. Das Restaurant liegt direkt an der Seafront und man hat aus den Panoramafenstern (oder von den Plätzen auf der Terrasse) einen tollen Blick auf das Meer und den Strand. Wie viele andere Restaurants ist es vor allem auf Touristen ausgerichtet. Der Service ist nett, aber auch etwas gelangweilt. Die Drinks, z.B. mein Hugo, sind gut gemixt. Es gibt auch eine Happy Hour dafür. Die Dinner-Karte ist eher klein und hat einen Schwerpunkt auf Seafood. Die bereitet die Küche sehr lecker zu. Meine gebratene Brachse war kross auf der Hautseite, genau richtig im Gargrad und gut gewürzt. Leider lässt sich das Restaurant die Lage bezahlen, denn die Preise sind etwas hoch.

Held my wedding reception at the Seahorse on 31st July. I cannot speak highly enough about what a wonderful experience it was. The staff were accommodating, flexible, professional and efficient. The quality of the food was extremely high and very tasty. I would have no hesitation in recommending this venue. We were able to work with Bex to plan the event beforehand, prepare the venue the day before and post event the staff were extremely careful and respectful with the storage of the flowers and some of the gifts to be picked up after the event. The whole experience was superb.

I was in this restaurant with my wife. We really enjoyed the food, especially the oysters. The waiters are very friendly. Service is fast. The only thing missing is music. But this is a problem for all English restaurants and pubs. Dinner cost us £100.

Great place. Visited this venue for a wedding reception. Not a bad place at all. Typical Brighton prices thats all I can say. The staff were really friendly.

The restaurant has great potential: a beautiful view and the food was good. However, the staff don’t match the food. Unclean toilets (no toilet paper, no soap and bloody tampons hanging out of the bin), reused mayo pots from previous customers (dried mayo on the rim of the pot) and dirty tabletops where you have to ask 4x to get it wiped… in the future we probably will take our money to Rockwater: same view but superb customer service. It’s just not nice to eat out at such an unclean venue. Also, had to go walk up to the tills as no one noticed we had finished our meal, not to mention ask if we enjoyed our meal ( half of the restaurant was empty). When I voiced my concerns at the tills, I was told this is to be expected on busy days.

We had our wedding here recently and from an events perspective, Bex and the team were absolutely amazing, communication was so prompt and easy and nothing was too much trouble for them. On top of that all the staff were super friendly and seemed to anticipate all of our needs. From a food perspective the three course meal was so delicious and we had compliments from loads of our guests. The drinks were also very tasty. We will definitely be visiting here for dinner many evenings in the future, thank you all!

I give it two stars because the service was really good and the starff was really attentive. But I ordered the oyster mushrooms with zaatar and what a joke. £16.50 for four half mushrooms with some onions and a handful of chickpeas, that hadn't even seen the zaatar from far. Add a beer and the service charge, £25. Plus the sandwichI had to buy from a supermarket straight away after leaving. Fair enough that you pay a lot for the location but the fish&chips and the burgers my friends ate were normal portions not pisstake sizes.

Had a lovely lunchtime meal at The Seahorse today, have been there several times, when it was Brighton Beach Club (wasn’t impressed) and Alfresco (excellent). Thought the staff were super friendly and it was a very relaxed atmosphere. We had a couple of cocktails each and the seafood platter, was all perfect .. Thank you, we will be back

The food was so delicious and omg the fries were amazing like so crispy on the outside but soft on the inside. The staff was really nice and the view was beautiful.

Really enjoyed a meal there a week or so ago. The fish and chips were delicious and plentiful, lovey atmosphere and table service was excellent. I'd recommend the black forrest cheesecake too, very rich and hugely calorific - but it was worth it.

First visit in a long time. Change of ownership & the place looks fabulous. Its light clean fresh and modern with superb views overlooking the sea. Food selection was satisfactory. Disabled access via ramp and spacious area for wheelchairs and prams. Brighton parking is challenging so you may not get a spot outside . Worth the visit with lovely staff.

Delicious seafood platter, great chips and roasted new potatoes and vegetables. Couldn't fault the food. Location is stunning - sitting outside by the sea in the evening was fabulous. The service was a disappointment though. The staff were friendly and lovely but we wondered if they were short staffed. We didn't mind generally quite slow service as we were bit jn a hurry, but we had to ask 3 times for a bottle of water and the red wine we ordered to have with our cheese came after we had eaten it. With a few more staff on duty it would have been perfect.

I’ve been here a couple of times in the summer for evening drinks on the upstairs terrace. It’s a great location for soaking up the seafront evening atmosphere with a cold cocktail or beer in your hand. If you’re lucky there might even be a good busker nearby supplying some music. For me, the restaurant/bar terrace itself lacks atmosphere, which is good if you like the seafront in general but not so good if you want a bar experience. The balcony railings are almost solid and obscure your view of the sea when you are sitting down (unless you have some kind of giraffe neck I guess). If you are coming just for drinks and are sat on the upstairs terrace, be prepared to wait quite a while to be served. They don’t allow you to order at the bar but they may be short staffed. I’ve seen people give up and leave, so only come here if you’re not in a hurry. Amazing location - I can see why it’s often booked out for wedding parties.

We had our wedding at The Seahorse last weekend and what a day it was. From the moment I made contact with Bex (the bookings manager) the whole process was a dream. From start to finish we were supported and communicated with efficiently. It was honestly like having a wedding planner. Bex especially went absolutely above and beyond, answering the multitude of questions I threw her way with grace and knowledge , kept me in the loop always, partook in multiple meetings with us and suppliers, recommended ideas and so much more. I can’t put into words how helpful she was and how it made our whole experience so seamless. We couldn’t have done it without Bex. I was never made to feel too much and she did all of this with such enthusiasm and patience. She is a true super hero and such an incredible person. On the actual day everything ran completely to plan and I felt everyone was on board. The food was amazing, the service impeccable and our guests were ranting and raving about it too. The seahorse itself is such a beautiful venue, a gorgeous view, affordable, completely customisable and full of brighton charm. We hired the bottom floor which also gave us access to both downstairs outdoor terraces as well. The bottom level was ample room for our party of 120 guests. I actually can’t thank The Seahorse enough. If you are thinking about getting married here, without a doubt absolutely do it. Our wedding day was perfect and The staff at The Seahorse have so much to do with this. Absolutely 10\10 in all areas, I wouldn’t change a thing. Thank you a million times over. Love Alex and Jess x

Nice iced latte however, when we went inside to use the restroom we were approached by a woman with a brown pixie cut in an aggressive manner who told us that they ‘weren’t a public toilet’. I tried to inform her that we were paying customers which she disregarded and wouldn’t let me get a word in edge way and made us feel unwelcome and embarrassed. Disappointed.

I love this place and the food is great. However very poor service and waiters very not attentive mostly.

Was a lovely evening at Seahorse Restaurant on Brighton Beach. The view is stunning and the food and drinks were excellent. Service was a little slow but very nice waiting staff.The Seahorse has been recently renovated and booths added. It is nicely done except for the plastic plants! To be fair they look good from a distance but real plants would have renovated this space to another level. No excuse as there is lots of light and heat in there… would not be tricky to keep real plants thriving in what essentially a greenhouse! Saying that the blinds do keep it from getting too stifling:)

Some of the lonelest food I've seen. They asked how many muscles we wanted. Wished I'd answered as to not get about 10. I think for the price should also have expected fries with it. Not two slices of cheap bread. Vegi burger was rubbish too

Very disappointed. I order dressed crab and salad.....a rather icy barely dressed crab arrived, with a few lettuce leaves on the side. I asked for a salad and 20 minutes later, the same lettuce with two hard yellow tomatoes arrived. The dish was quite expensive and was tasteless. My friend has fish....this arrived half raw and had to be sent back to be properly cooked.

We booked the downstairs for a very special birthday party. What a fantastic venue with a wrap around view of the ocean and the west pier. Outdoor seating if you're lucky with the weather which we were. And the staff were brilliant, so helpful and genuinely kind and friendly. Such warm hospitality, I was really impressed. They took such good care of us. The food was great too. If you're booking a function in Brighton this place should be at the top of your list.

Such a shame that this place has gone down hill like it has, fantastic venue, but the the majority of the staff are just not on-it. The food was dry and looked reheated, when discussed with Amber the manager, she wasn't really interested. The only person who genuinely cared was Eva, who was sincere and understood our concerns, unfortunately with this management running the ship, I feel the seahorse days are numbered. Such a shame.

Really disappointed, had too wait half an hour for our starter then our mains came out cold and the potatoes tasted stale and the steak was chewy, we finished our meal and didn’t even get offered a dessert menu very disappointing and cost us over £100,definatley wouldn’t return,

Beautiful place, lovely and clean, the food was good, the waitress was lovely, however the you do wait very long for someone to come and take your order then even longer for your drinks to arrive! We would definitely go back.

We popped in for an unplanned lunch recently, the staff were truly amazing from the moment we arrived to when we left, very attentive and took the time to check the menu for me as I have coeliac disease, nothing was too much trouble - will defiantly be returning

Great viewing, We felt a little strange that the manager of the restaurant saw us as we were waiting for one of the waiters to appear to be served, and instead of greeting us and telling us that she was going to the back to call someone, she just passed next to us, calling someone from the staff to serve us. A little friendly attitude would be great

Disappointed with this resteraunt ,the view and ambience is perfect as were the staff but the food was a complete let down ... considering it's quite pricey ...bland ,Luke warm food and the lamb dish was unedible,the salad had no dressing and was basically a plate of lettuce leaves ...left hungry and ordered a takeaway when we got home ....

Been here a few times with my daughter and the staff are so lovely with her, and make sure she’s having a good time , food is always hot and the service from the bar is alway served with a smile

This place is right at the sea, it has an amazing view. We didn't get food, only cocktails and they were the best I had, especially the bloody marry. The service was amazing and the server we had was genuinely nice and professional. For a night of cocktails I would definitely recommend.

Stopped by for a drink and a snack. Both of us had bugs and spiders in our drinks (the mint clearly wasn't washed) their bread board consists of two small pieces. Came to about £40 for the pleasure

Visited here last night with a group of friends. The service was excellent, it makes such a difference to go somewhere and have friendly, smiley and attentive staff. The food was really good quality and decent portion sizes. The black forest trifle was amazing! We really enjoyed our visit and would definitely go back :)

Event, arranged and accepted by the restaurant. Out of food before everyone got served. Still hungry, only french fries left for the rest of the people that is left hungry.

Wow, what can we say....LOTS OF GREAT STUFF!! We are staying in the hotel opposite with a sea view and decided to try it as we could not be bothered to go elsewhere. Glad we did, everything was fantastic, it was my partners birthday and they spoilt her without even being asked, including putting a candle in her desert and singing happy birthday and everyone in the restaurant joined in, THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!! We can't be bothered to go anywhere else tonight, so yep we will going back for dinner tonight, we even popped in for a cheeky vino earlier Can't say enough good things about them, the staff were very interactive, service was fantastic and the food cooked to perfection with excellent presentation and very clean Thank you all.

We sat outside in the sun for some drinks. My partner went in to order, only to be told to order upstairs as they were closing SOON downstairs but not right at that moment. He went upstairs only to be told to order downstairs, after he explained to the three members of staff that he'd been told to order upstairs, they said that they had been busy and we're only just catching up. There was no offer to take our order so we left. This has not been the first time that we've had terrible or no service at The Seahorse. They are literally turning away paying customers seemingly because they can't be bothered to serve people.

Enjoyed a lovely evening meal with the family at The seahorse. The staff were polite and attentive, making us feel welcomed throughout our visit. The seating arrangement was perfect, offering a view facing the sea, which added a special touch to our dining experience, even though it was dark and there was no lighting outside. However, the food did not meet our expectations. Despite the portion sizes being satisfactory, all the dishes lacked flavor, which was surprising and disappointing, especially considering previous reviews from other customers had highlighted this issue. It seems this has not been resolved yet. While the ambiance and service were commendable, the blandness of the food was a letdown. We hope to see improvements in this area in the future.

Excellent late lunch! Manager Ray and his team welcomed us warmly, and made sure we were seated with the best possible view. Care was taken to explain the menu, and our order was taken with ease and with a smile Ray was a wonderful host and the customer service impeccable. The menu is an excellent selection of wonderfully presented fresh food that diabetic, ketogenic and pregnancy friendly. I absolutely reccomend the Seahorse for a delightful lunch!

The pictures on here don't come close to doing this place justice as it looks like it's had a recent refurbishment. I came just for a few drinks and think this place is spectacular! The views on a sunny day are amazing, the cocktails were delicious and the service was spot on. I'll definitely be back for lunch next time

A lovely atmosphere & nothing is too much trouble. We were having a short break in Brighton & had visited this venue over 2 years ago. They had changed hands but it was so much better . Excellent value for money lunch deal. We came back for our last evening meal. My husband hadn’t been well so didn’t want sauces or butter on anything. They accommodated his requests with no problem. Excellent food & even better service

Wow Wow & Wow 🤩Absolutely amazing experience . My daughter took me here for late lunch Tuesday 27th feb 2024 . We had lamb skewer to start which actually blew us away , the flavours, presentation & quality was sublime . We had fish, chips peas with tartar sauce for our mains & yet again absolutely delicious & top quality. I highly recommend this restaurant you will not be disappointed & we will most definitely be returning.

We live close to The Seahorse and were keen to try it following it's renovation. It is certainly a welcome addition to the beachfront given the rather tired looking Brighton Beach Club that preceded it. We had a lovely, albeit quiet evening. Quiet in the sense that it was torrential outside and we were understandably one of few diners willing to brave the tempest. It didn't dampen our experience however and the warm interior was an inviting prospect after we fought vertical rain to get there. The Deco building has been elegantly and freshly refurbished and a crisp Prosecco quickly banished thoughts of the Spring downpour. The friendly staff were on the right side of attentive if not a little green. A more experienced maitre d with a little more joie de vivre might have not gone amiss but it wasn't the end of the world. We had multiple small plates and a bottle of Picpoul which complimented well. In fact the complexity of flavours in our food was a nice surprise with the Pork Loin and Beetroot Tartare the highlights. Dessert was pleasing if not lacking in sophistication somewhat. Some more richness in the Lemon Blondie or maybe even a curved ball or two on the pudding menu generally would really elevate The Seahorse to where it deserves to be. That said, the prices were reminiscent of 2016 which was a big win! indeed, on a fine day and given the size of the venue it will be a truly smashing place for a meal, wine or even just cocktails in the warm weather. We really hope it stays!

The atmosphere is magical close to the beach, Rowen was really friendly ,energetic and obtained excellent service skills

There were really bad bits to this experience. Some of it was ok but not outstanding. Firstly there weren't enough waiting staff. They did their best, but it meant very slow service, which clearly wasn't their fault. The starter of prawns was ok but nothing special. The beef short rib was better but not overwhelming. It was ok. The pudding had a very grand name but was basically smashed biscuits in layers with whipped cream. That was it. For a mid range restaurant, it was really disappointing. One of the toilets was blocked, which was unpleasant. Seahorse needs to sort a few things out. Maybe it was just a bad day.

A great lunch experience with unrivalled views. Staff were great, we had two young children with us and we felt very well looked after.

Nice place with nice view and food

THE BEST FISH AND CHIPS I'VE HAD IN A LONG TIME... The food was absolutely amazing, there were 9 of us and every dish was delicious. Lacking atmosphere because it was so quiet, but that is a crying shame as it's so good.

Had a lovely meal - havent been since it was taken over. Windy day so amazing views, food was first class and service attentive. Would thoroughly recommend and will be back again in the future.
