Cherry Tree in Brighton and Hove

Nice location and looks like a nice selection on the menu. We've never tried it before as have been warned off the place by others in the Marina. Unfortunately they were right. Breakfast came out looking nice but items were either luke warm or cold. No one checked on us to be able to them and I wasn't going to get up again after already having to chase down clean cutlery and condiments. Ate part of it and gave the rest to our dog. Not amenable with any changes to items either. Expensive for what it was.

Lovely cafe. Good coffee, very friendly staff and excellent food. Ten out of ten.

Smoothies cost £7.50 and they are diluted at least 50% with water. I did raised complain about it. I have been completely ignored.

Not only is this the most expensive cafe in the Marina, it is the worst. Nothing is handmade here. The pastries are bought in and reused, so they are very dry and stale. Also, the cakes are from a packet (I saw the packet on the kitchen side) There is a hole in the wall that has been plugged with a teatowel, the outside tables are covered in bird poo and fag ends all over the floor. The place is generally grotty. I would not be surprised if the most recent reviews are from the staff considering up until then, it has been overwhelmingly negative!

Lovely Cafe in the marina, my son had a vanilla milkshake, which was freshly made and I had a biscoff latte. Nice and hot, good amount of biscoff to milk ratio. We will definitely be back. Faith 😊

started off with a few hot drinks, i asked the lovely server what drinks in which they recommend, based on my preference we decided to go with a latte for me and a cappuccino for my husband. The drinks were served hot and fast despite the rush of people. we then decided to get a bit of breakfast, my husband got the cherry tree breakfast, classic ! and i got the special which was biscoff and banana pancakes. both were absolutely amazing and were as quick as the drinks. the staff were very caring and ensured we had a good experience. The cafe is in a quaint little place where the sun shines and close to the boats ! will be going again and bringing my friends next time !

Off the beaten track. Has a peaceful ambience. Good variety of tables inside and outside. Selection of sandwiches, cakes, breakfasts and lunches freshly made. Gluten-free catering. A little gem overlooking the smaller quieter marina with grass area, benches, table tennis right beside it.

I love the fact that this cafe is in the marina and is a perfect spot to go for some breakfast/brunch. Really lovely staff and the food was cooked to a very good standard. Would defo recommend.

Came here today with my husband and two children for lunch. The place looked pretty and a decent spot for lunch. The young waitress was very sweet, but sadly the same could not be said for what we assume was the owner/manager. She was abrupt and we felt like we were being a nuisance for coming there, even more so when we asked if we may have a bowl of water for our dog (we never assume dogs will be catered for but given the signage out the front stated it was very dog friendly, we didn’t think it would be a problem to supply a bowl of water for him on a warm spring afternoon!) she snapped that she’d bring it to us. This didn’t happen until right at the end when we asked again and she brought it along. No eye contact, no apology. And given what actually happened shortly before this, one might have assumed she’d be on best behaviour. We ordered cheesy chips for the kids, two toasties and a separate bowl of chips. The plain chips came out first, then about 5 mins later the toasties came, followed by the cheesy chips for the kids. Cheese and onion toastie was fine, but my husband’s Brie and mushroom toastie had mould growing on the bread (not even just a tiny bit but a whole bloom!) we obviously had to send that back and though the young waitress appeared mortified and very apologetic, the other lady brought us a new one with a half hearted apology of “sorry about that” We’d obviously already paid for it, and would have still paid for it but the lack of care from the manager was actually shocking. She almost made us feel like we were being the difficult ones for asking for a replacement! Her whole demeanour really doesn’t suit being in a role that is front of house, she seemed generally moody and irritated by everyone. The food itself was disappointing - for a treat we ordered the kids cheesy chips but given that the chips were dripping in oil and the cheese wasn’t melted (and served in chipped bowls!) it was rather unpleasant and not great reflection of the £5 it cost! The food coming at random times meant that we were all eating separately (even more so my husband who had to wait for the mouldy bread replacement!) All in all, it was a disappointment from start to finish. The cafe is in a lovely spot right by the marina and could be so much better, the young waitress very friendly but let down from the other staff member’s complete lack of customer service and below par food. Won’t be returning sadly.

I've visited several times as the cafe is in the Brighton Marina. Twice I've had to argue that the coffee they make is not proper. Today the double espresso was put in a cold cup (cups should always be warmed with boiling water) and the flat white was a tepid white Americano. The owner than argued with me that a flat white has absolutely no foam. It can, but in the UK it is almost always made with some foam and is expected. I am a barista, working over 15 years in the industry and have been trained by some of the top coffee suppliers in the UK. Besides, if a customer expresses how they wish their coffee to be made it is not for the barista to 'defend' their coffee but to make the coffee the way the customer wants - not argue who is right! Poor.

Lovely setting. Quick service. Worst flat white I’ve had in a while. Basically a cup of warm milk, mildly reminiscent of coffee flavour…

Great little Cafe so glad we stopped here. Latte's were better than many other cafes I've been to recently, and the toasties were excellent too. I'll definitely be coming back soon. Nice atmosphere.

Awful gluten free cake and basic eggs on toast poor value in an average setting. Avoid this cafe even Asda nearby would have been much better.

Visiting with a visually impaired wheelchair bound young person who is unable to drink anything but hot water. We ordered a cake for her and asked for a cup of hot water…nothing was said but the bill was higher than expected so I queried this, to e told that the cup of hot water cost £1.60. In nearly two years of looking after this young lady, we have never been asked to pay for hot water. Plain mean…especially as the chocolate brownie tasted like cardboard!

Lovely breakfast, quick friendly service . The breakfast combinations can be very expensive stick to set options ... lesson learned when breakfast for 1 is just under £20

Nice to eat outside in the sunshine watching the boats mored nearby. Everything went well. Food was good. People kind and helpful. Customers looked contented. After a seaside walk along the beach it was a good place to rest your pins and breath slowly.

The almond milk flat white was pretty horrible.. not good quality milk. Sweetened and watery, not the creamy barista quality.

Called in here today (Sunday) after our walk - it had rained earlier but was warm and sunny and we fancied an afternoon cuppa. I ordered and paid at 3:25 and was told it would be take away cups, which wasn’t what I’d seen in the pictures online so I was confused. Inside was empty and there were 2 staff members yet we had to ask for something to dry the seats with. Rather than come out and do it for us, they gave us paper to do it ourselves! We had a black coffee and a black Earl Grey which were too hot to drink and didn’t cool down in the tall paper cups. There was nothing to get the tea bag out with either. At 3:45 I took our cups back in as the drinks weren’t enjoyable in the take away cups and I asked why no china - I was told it was because they were closing soon! (Not until 4!) We won’t stop here again - we like proper china/tea pot and a bit of customer service. There was no excuse for paper cups when they still had 35 minutes of opening time. We could have had better and far cheaper at Macdonalds around the corner if we wanted take-always.

Probably the worse Black coffee I've ever had (&how can you mess up a Black coffee?!) my friends capacino was awful too. Complained about the black coffee the waitress said that's what you ordered! I said "there was something wrong with it" she said "that's how we make it here" I said again there's something wrong with it "she said do you want another one Yes I said I think they just put some more hot water in the original one - which was still disgusting like they hadn't used fresh coffee to make it with - never again Quite shocked at the waitress incompetence and lack of politeness. Train your staff!! Cooked breakfast was OK eggs very nice I must say.

Popped in here for coffee and breakfast en route to Brighton. It doesn’t look like much from outside - but the staff are lovely and very friendly and helpful and the food and coffee is great. Also have gluten free bread for those who can’t eat gluten and they totally get the whole coeliac thing so check about putting your gf bread in the toaster where wheat-containing bread has been.

Foods are good and the price are also reasonable. The staffs are nice too. The only thing I would like to say is when they do coffee and taking the leftovers coffee powder out, they knocked it super loud. It sounds like a metal is hitting each other which made me jump many times while im eating. Don’t know why is way louder than other café. But other than that everything is perfectly fine👍🏻👍🏻

We went for breakfast, and got charged 12.50 for a child’s breakfast which had less on the plate than the adults breakfast at £11. When I asked the young girl she said she would speak to the manager, the manager hiding in the kitchen said that the way it is as the items were added individually !! I asked to see the manager and she wouldn’t come out leaving the poor young waitress getting upset and flustered dealing with it! I said I will pay for the adult breakfast and no more and I won’t go back! Completely over priced and the manager doesn’t know how to run a business not child friendly…won’t be going back!!

Black americano was rubbish today. Very week coffee, and I was surprised it was supposed to be small batch coffee ☕️

I have been here many times now. i have met the owner a few times as it always seems like she is there grafting away! Nothing but kind words to herself and her staff. The manager is amazing and always makes me feel like I’m special. They offer a reward card which meant I got my 8th coffee free 😍 There is something about getting the nicest Latte I have ever had for free. Couldn’t recommend their full English any more also, and thank you again.

A lovely chilled place to have breakfast and a good cup of coffee. The café has a nice feel, the cooked breakfast we each had was lovely and the service was excellent. Would definitely return.

Came here for brunch with my dad. I had the Ausssie breakfast with a side of hashbrowns. It was delicious. I've never been before but would like to come again

I have been to the Cherry Tree cafe a few times in the last few months and every single time has been lovely! I believe the service, coffee and food are all incredibly lovely!

Great Aussie Breakfast (poached eggs, avo and Smoked Salmon) BIG pot of tea and good pricing for the quality we got. All served with a smile, recommended over other food offerings in the area.

The quality of the food products for full English are poor, sausage was cheap and small, mushrooms look from a tin. Have some pride for goodness sake - I sympathise with costs rising but, customers want a nice breakfast not something they can make themselves with cheap ingredients

Today I went in with my family ordered pancakes with bacon and was suprised with the big portions!! Really worth the money. Coffees were amazing as well me and my husband absolutely loved our animal lattes which featured a cute frog and a cat. All the food is absolutely lovely and the staff couldn’t be nicer really caring about making the dining experience a great one. Will be returning and recommending to anyone in the local marina area.

I am a barista myself and I am very happy with this cafe. The coffees were splendid and i asked for a flat white and I was pleased to see that it was 3/4 full because otherwise it would of been too large for a flat white. Lovely cafe and definitely worth a visit.

Popped in for a bit of breakfast with the girls and it was lovely! I’ve seen a few reviews say that it’s overpriced but everything is great quality and for what you get I’d gladly pay it! Staff are super friendly as well, overall perfect breakfast spot!

First visit as it was a nice location but thats it. The smallest piece of Victoria sponge you have ever seen and a 3/4 full flat white. Couldnt complain at the time as there was a queue. Staff could have been more pleasant to. Would definitely not go there again.

£6.25 for two slices of bread with tuna mayo in between. No garnish in sight...or the cucumber which was supposed to be in it. Dry and limp. Not my idea of good value for money...I'll go back to the Laughing Dog next time.

The staff are the friendliest I have had in a long time. The coffee is excellent and the food is also incredibly tasty. Love how peaceful it can be on a weekday too.

Gorgeous little cafe, really loved the atmosphere....we had Ham and Cheese toastie, that was delicious and the ham is so nice. Small Batch coffee was a nice addition to brunch.... Very friendly and fast service too, highly recommend it

Great small batch coffee, amazing flour pot pastries and friendly staff. Sitting outside in the sunshine with speedboats in the marina nearby almost makes your feel like you could be in the Mediterranean.

Wandering around the marina whilst on holiday we spotted Cherry Tree and decided to try their full English (breakfast food served until 2pm). Dog-friendly. Very helpful and friendly staff. Food was freshly cooked and delicious. We will be back!

Went to grab a quick coffee during my lunch break at work. If it’s take away it’s probs obvious people don’t have time to sit in. Was waiting 15minutes!!! Patient and silly. They simply forget. I wanted to get my money back and I’m looking at my bank account and they didn’t manage even that. Late at work, no coffee and robbed. Never ever again I’ll set my foot in that shop. Thanks.

Popped in on Sunday and we were planning to have breakfast after hearing good things about this cafe. Once inside the whole place was so grubby it put us off eating there. The only menu available is stuck in the front window so you have to go back outside to check it, that's if you can read it as the paper is falling apart. Next to our table there was a hole in the wall with a kitchen towel randomly shoved into it and grime marks around the edges of the floor. I dread to think what the kitchen is like if that's the level of cleanliness in customer areas. The member of staff who served us stunk of smoke and had yellow tobacco marks on her fingers. Nothing against smoker's, just the lack of hygiene when serving customers in this case. Needless to say we were completely put off and went elsewhere.

Popped in for a bite to eat. Had 2 flat whites, a toastie with cheese, tomato and avacado and carrot cake. Everything was delicious and worth every penny. Staff were lovely too

This is the place to go for a small batch coffee in Brighton Marina. If your sitting in, could do with a tidy up in there. Probably due to covid.

Service good very friendly coffee nice but very hot, unfortunately the toilets are still closed which I found surprisingly aware of covid but restrictions have changed and hospitality business should provide toilets

When visiting the cafè I was greeted with very warm hospitality by the staff. On top of that, I had the full english which was amazing (especially for the price)! Coffee was great, as what I was expecting due to it being small batch too....

As a regular to the Cherry Tree, we had always known it was overpriced and served weak coffee but we’re keen to support our local independent cafe. The service this time left us saying ‘never again’ We wanted the breakfast but we were 15 minutes...
