Absolutely brilliant service and food. Highly recommend. I don't usually like fish fingers but my husband wanted to try one of the street food options so I opted for them anyway and couldn't have been more wrong. They were cooked to perfection. I love that all their materials are recyclable, and the option to pay it forward by donating a meal is a lovely touch.

Our family of 4 visited The Seafood Social this week whilst in Scarborough. Having done some prior research on places to eat, this cafe was definitely on my list. The menu sounded delicious and I was sold on the fact that the profits from the business went to help the homeless in the local community. It certainly lived up to all expectations. We all sampled something different from the menu - bengali prawns, hot and spicy prawns and cod, cheddar and chive croquettes, which were all served with thick cut chips, rainbow slaw and chilli jam. We also had a children's portion of fish and chips for our toddler. The food was cooked fresh to order and was absolutely delicious. Portion sizes were also very generous. We could not recommend this place more and we will certainly return again when in Scarborough

We were very impressed with this restaurant, this was only our second time eating in a restaurant since before lockdown. Tables were very well spaced out, everything, including chairs were wipeable, the food comes in boxes, salt, pepper and sauces all come in sachets, cutlery is wooden throwaway, and you get a paper straw for your drink, all good in my book. There is a great selection of delicious food to chose from and all cooked fresh while you wait, homemade slaw and tartar sauce is lovely. We both had the scampi, with the seeded breadcrumbs, delicious!! Service was great too.We will definitely be back on our next visit to Scarborough.

This cafe is right in the town centre. The menu is short but still enough choice, and reasonable prices. I had smoked haddock and cheese bites, with chips, and an excellent tartare sauce, food make freshly to order. The portion was generous too. Served in a cardboard container with wooden fork, environmentally friendly, but don’t think the cup was recyclable. You can ‘pay forward’ for a drink or meal for someone in need, a good idea.

Late lunchtime visit. My first time here and I wasn’t disappointed. Furnishing / seating is basic but ok. Helpful friendly staff serving from a fairly basic menu but quality / quantity / service was spot-on. I chose the fish burger - a good quality bun, layered with mayo and iceberg lettuce and a great quality fish portion in breadcrumbs in the middle. There was a decent portion of amazing chips - nice and crisp outer and light and fluffy inside - and a portion of coleslaw along with a leaf garnish. This was served up in a quality cardboard carton - excellent for takeaway and adequate for eating out of in the cafe. Prices are very affordable. Being a social enterprise, they help the homeless and I was more than happy to donate to their efforts.

My partner and I went to the newly refurbished market and decided to have a drink at the Seafood Social, it looked very nice, that was misleading. The person at the counter looked at us as if we shouldn't have been there, he grunted at us, it was just after 9 am but the place was clearly open, we gave our order and sat down. He brought our drinks begrudgingly to the scruffy table, the cup of coffee was half full and the hot chocolate was just a cup of froth, we will not be going there again when the cafe downstairs is the complete opposite.

This socially aware business is one of the delights of the restored (but still poorly signed by the council) indoor market. The food is invariably fresh and the atmosphere - even on a cold winter's day - is fun with live music downstairs (at least on Saturdays). The scampi and the haddock 'adult fish fingers' could not be fresher - the chips are real old fashioned chips and their tartare sauce is a delight. Tables are immaculately clean. Equally good is the fact that you can pay forward for a meal for some of the poorer and needy people of Scarborough. Somewhere that deserves support form locals and tourists alike.

I was impressed by the home made coleslaw and Tartare sauce. The food and coffee come in recyclable paper containers and wooden forks. This place is hidden away at the top of the market and is quite unassuming but what they have set out to do and the execution of it is incredible. They are a socially responsible company and their food is amazing. I had the prawns with sweet chilli, coleslaw and chips with a bit of salad. It was one of the nicest takeaway meals I’ve eaten in ages and the surroundings are beautiful. They also have an excellent stock of soft drinks - I had fentimans rose lemonade which is one of my favourites and not widely available. This restaurant is on the newly made second floor balcony of Scarborough market. It has a modern rustic feel with wooden tables. Seafood dishes are mainly £4.00, excellent value. Service is friendly. The restaurant helps the Rainbow Centre, a local charity working with low income people. When I visited, a leaflet invited donations for Christmas presents for their teenage clients, a group often not as catered for as younger children. This is a pleasant place to sit and eat.

The sea food here is simple, fresh and delicious. Chips are always freshly cooked, the fish, scampi etc are first class and the tartare sauce is amazing. Best of all the profit goes to support the Rainbow Centre, a local charity that combats homelessness and supports those people who are unfortunate enough not to have the home that the majority of us take for granted. Staff are enthusiastic and the setting - on the upper floor of the historic Scarborough Market Hall is a delight. After years of neglect, new life has been breathed into the Market Hall's three floors. Every floor is now accessible by lift and there is spotlessly clean disabled toilet as well as public conveniences (which are something of a rarity in Scarborough. The basement has quirky shops, the ground floor an absolutely first class 'Portuguese' bakery (which sells the most delicious almond pastries my wife has ever tasted alongside excellent bread - all baked on the premises) and fresh local green groceries while the upper floor - apart from the excellent Seafood Social also has a bee themed shop complete with its own 'urban hive' where bees can be seen at work and at rest as they enter and leave via a 'chimney' that opens to the sky..
