Embers in Scarborough

Struggled picking nice restaurants locally but this was a nice surprise. The food was great, compact but well curated menu. Drinks menu was excellent and extensive. A very pleasant evening 👍

Scallop is just amazing. Pork belly could be paired with stronger pickle. Would defo eat here and here only if in Scarborough again

Having visited Embers on several occasions, I'm always left impressed by the consistently outstanding experience. The restaurant has a cosy and inviting atmosphere, perfect for any dining occasion. The food is exceptional, with each visit discovering new flavours and dishes. The cocktails are a must-try and a great complement to the meal. George, the host, ensures every guest feels welcomed and valued, while Dan, the chef, showcases incredible skill and passion in every dish served. Embers is undeniably my favourite place to dine, and I highly recommend it to anyone!

From the minute we walked into Embers we had the most lovely experience. Personal attention to detail, knowledgeable staff, diverse choices of food and wines. Everything was beautifully prepared and presented. I loved it from start to finish. The home smoked salmon had theatre and uniqueness, the scallops were buttery and perfectly cooked and my whole plaice was just dreamy. Thank you so much!!

This was our first visit to Embers after my wife ‘spotted’ it as a local favorite and we weren’t disappointed. The food was amazing which along with a great service made for a lovely evening out. Embers is only a small restaurant with a limited menu, but what is there is absolute quality. We started out with some tapas dishes, accompanied by the complimentary home made bread, which were amazing (loved the theatre with the smoked salmon) followed by a casserole for me and a Cod special for the wife. All were really tasty and an absolute delight. Naturally, we had to make room for dessert, the apple sticky toffee pudding was ‘amazing’ The ambiance was just right, nicely busy, coupled with a top notch efficient and friendly service. It’s already on the list on our next visit to the coast.

Visited this restaurant last Friday after having tried several times to book, but usually fully booked . It’s hidden away from the usual routes in Scarborough, but worth searching out! A lovely ambience inside and beautifully lit . The food was excellent , with generous portions and bags of flavour… no need for salt and pepper here!…..It’s obvious that they care and have a passion for food …. It makes a change to be addressed as Sir these days and whilst not essential.. a lovely touch. Would very much like to return and will remember to try and book well in advance. This was a recommendation and we were really pleased to have taken this on board. Luckily we booked well in advance as it was busy even at the end of January. The guy in charge was very helpful. I would recommend the scallops and king prawns for starters The Laksa was disappointing but the nutty greens were fantastic. But there is no set menu so these dishes may not be available. The drinks are expensive and there is no house wine

Fantastic evening celebrating Pete’s (review below!) surprise 60th birthday! The staff were absolutely second to none, on the ball with drinks and making sure everybody had everything they needed. Went here on a recommendation and so glad we did. Friendly staff made us feel welcome when we arrived early. The food is on another level and we were spoiled for choice. Everything came with small details that lifted it. Bread came with confit garlic and flavoured butter. Patatas bravas we’re out of Theo’s world and the whipped feta was incredible The flat breads were a massive stack. The pit plate beat me as was a big meal which packed loads of flavours, my only regret was not picking something smaller so I could have a dessert 100% will be back here

Yet again a delicious meal at Embers. Is there anything that isn’t perfect here? They take lovely food and elevate it to perfection. The flavours are all amazing. George and Betty looked after us beautifully again and George’s Espresso Martini was so good that I had to have two! Our favourite place in Scarborough. Thankyou!

First visit to Embers for my partner's birthday. Staff were fantastic and really accommodating. Arrived in Scarborough trying to find an extra special place to eat whilst on our honeymoon and was drawn to Dan’s story on his website. In the midst of a storm where weather warnings were issued to stay in and not travel to the North Coast, we are so glad to have braved it…. Being sat in the snug, we could smell the aroma of the wood fired oven and could not prepare ourself for the amazing cuisine we were about to consume - each and every bite was rich in flavour, portions ideal, presentation artistic. The service was just as great as the food and would highly recommend this restaurant to any locals or visitors to the area

I found Embers through TripAdvisor. From the reviews, I expected it to be good but what we found was exceptional quality food and drink. Particular highlights for me were the scampi, smoked salmon and the Embers Old Fashioned, but everything was very good, even the water! The staff were very friendly and were happy to provide an item not on the menu. The prices were also very reasonable. We will definitely be visiting again.

I have travelled to many places in the world, some of which are considered to be food mecas such as Italy. I can honing say that the food serves here was some of, if not the best I have ever tasted. I challenge any food critique in the country, to visit this place and sample this gastronomic masterpiece of the east coast.

We had a pleasant evening at Embers. All the courses we chose were good. We were bemused by the bottle of water with herbs in it at first but after trying it we found it was refreshing and very enjoyable

Really enjoyed a pre-theatre dinner here. Friendly team, with delicious, creative food that is beautifully presented and expertly cooked - and agree about the benefits of the woodfired oven! The homemade mini loaves of bread with different 'butters' was a creative surprise. All of us were impressed with our different choice of dishes. Highly recommend.

3.5 stars to be fair. A little disappointed with portion sizes of the mains for the price I paid. The tomahawk pork was basically the same size as a pork chop but with a longer bone 18 pound plus 4 pound for roast potatoes. The kebab burger was very small. 28 pound for a bottle of white and 8 pound for a special lager. All in all 95 pound for 2 starters 2 mains a bottle of overpriced wine and a pint of overpriced lager

The food was perfectly cooked and presented. The starters/mains and desserts all 10 out of 10. The staff were brilliant, cocktails were incredible, and if we hadn’t already said no phones on our date I’d of had photos to prove it! 100% recommend this place as a special treat! Wonderful meal, I had the prawns and a fish special and my Husband loved his steak. My lad was recommended the brownie, by the lovely waitress, which was great..thank you. Had a superb meal here whilst on holiday last week. Complimentary bread with roasted garlic and a pepper butter spread. Had 2 starters to share, mussels in a beautiful sauce and king prawns with chillies and leaves etc., mains were plaice with wood baked potatoes. Too full for dessert unfortunately! Staff were attentive and friendly. Wish we lived nearer but we will be back. Can't recommend highly enough.

We took over Embers for a family dinner to celebrate my partner’s 50th Birthday. Everything from the moment we arrived to the moment we left was fabulous. The food was absolutely incredible and the service was perfect. I can’t recommend Embers enough.

We have had a couple of delicious evening meals and cocktails at Embers. We have also been to one of their super fun and also delicious bottomless drinks afternoon events! Not to be missed when their dates are announced! Known Dan and Embers since the pop up takeaways of COVID days. It was fantastic food even then, to which we said maybe they could be our caterers for our wedding. We were so very pleased to see a restaurant opening up shortly after, which we went to for mother's day. Having also eaten in the restaurant since it opened, it was a no-brainer when we asked Dan if he really would cater for our wedding, and I shouldn't have been surprised at the food on the day.. but everyone was blown away. I cannot recommend Dan and his Team enough! The food was phenomenal, and there was so much of it - no one was going to go hungry, that's for sure! Not just the food though, because the Team were absolutely amazing. Professional and organised but also attentive, friendly and so accommodating to everyone's needs - from vegetarians to coeliacs. I highly recommend them, and if we're ever looking for caterers again for an event, we will be coming to Embers to provide it. Thank you guys, and I'll see you in the not-to-distant future!

It's evident that the chefs at Embers take immense pride in their creations. The exquisite plating and beautiful garnishes not only enhance the visual appeal but also showcase the restaurant's commitment to culinary excellence.

We were booked in for 5pm on a Friday, timed traffic wrong so ended up about 15 minutes late - rang ahead to notify staff and they were more than understanding. The food was very good with the starters being stand out, very good local craft lager and front of house staff all very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. My only fear writing this review is that this exceptional but small venue will be fully booked for our definite return visit, in which we will do are best to be on time!
