No food but a proper locals place where everyone is up for a chat.

Apparently the Scillonian only serve cold drinks …… not interested in serving tea or coffee to visitors on a cold , damp day in September . These days , surely every hospitality venue needs to look at all opportunities to generate revenue ?

A great place for a couple of drinks.

We called in to ask about the Sunday Carvery which in the past has been good. We were told there would be no food this year. This is a shame because very few places are open for food on a Sunday evening. We had a good pint of Betty Stogs, the first since the brewery was taken over. It isn’t the same beer as previously but that’s a different story. I didn’t enjoy the foul language shouted over us by the people sitting at the bar while we were ordering. It is their club not mine but it isn’t a way to encourage customers.

Great Indian meal for my quiz night

Poor carvery meal - luke warm at best. Two of us returned our meal as it was cold and was subsequently microwaved but still not hot. Staff indifferent to our concerns. £15 each expensive for what was served. Will never return.

We booked for 8.00pm. We were 5 mins. late. They were clearing up. 'You're late. We'll sort something out.' Left-over beef or turkey. Watery, tasteless gravy, dried up, rock hard stuffing balls,chewy parsnips and potatoes...all served luke warm This food should not have been served. No interest in if we were satisfied or not or we would have told them. £35 for two plates of leftovers. Sorry Scillonian Club. I have been a customer for years but this is unacceptable. We won't be coming back.

Really brilliant bar loved the deco

Didn't eat here but even 1 drink was sufficient. Didn't feel very welcome this time, has previously been much friendlier. No events (such as live music or quiz) anymore, and in all honesty there's better places to visit in Hugh Town. Hopefully it will improve again in the future as I've had great evenings there in the past.

No food no views and the beers are expensive

Great carvery. Choice of three meats and a nice selection of veg. Good views over harbour . Advisable to book.

A really nice atmosphere and carvery which is served in the afternoon and evening on Sunday only. A selection of meats available as well as a vegetarian option. The staff are really nice and friendly and Ness and Ches made us feel very welcome. The puddings are really good and I thoroughly enjoyed the Sticky Toffee Pudding

Lovely friendly atmosphere every time we visit this place 😃😃. Sports on TV available at all times. The Sunday lunch re roast is very good and affordable. It's a private club but visitors are welcomed 🤗🤗...

Another great Sunday lunch with all the trimmings. Choice of 3 meats, more veg, roast potatoes and Yorkshire’s than you could shake a stick at. Highly recommend.

We ate at the Scillonia Club last night after recommendation by our landlady choosing scallops and homemade fishcake for our first course. The scallops were cooked perfectly and the fishcake with hollandaise sauce was packed full of fish and flavour. We then both chose the sea bass on a bed of creamy crab and spring onion risotto. Once again, 10 out of 10 for this fabulous dish! For dessert we chose the roulade with Troytown Icecream and were not disappointed. All in all a fabulous meal with a beautiful view across town beach and the harbour in a very clean and airy restaurant with a very friendly and helpful waitress. Highly recommended. We are already booked up for return visits this holiday! Thank you.

Starting to panic because the Open golf was on, we shot into the Scillonian and found it on the big screen. Wonderful Guinness, cosmic CruzCampo. Lovey staff. Go there.

Really excellent meal risotto and sea bass and crab and lobster linguine. Starter of scallops and sweet of sticky toffee pudding 😋. Great value for money

One of the top three places to enjoy well kept and interesting cask ales (4) on the Isles of Scilly. It is a bar with a pub license. Highly recommended.

The bar is a typical club - good beer and sport on TV. Wonderful to watch rugby cup final on a wet Saturday! The restaurant is a great step up - we ate there twice and were impressed with the welcome, service and menu. Great choice and good food very well served. Great to find that they only accept bookings for the numbers they can deal with. Well done and thank you.

Easy to walk past the unassuming frontage but upstairs the restaurant offers stunning views with a varied menu. Six of us so a variety of the dishes were chosen and none disappointed! Cheerful friendly service too, we weren’t told “enjoy” but we definitely did! Thoroughly recommend this gem!

Great bar , you can join to be a member for £5 this gets you a discount on beer price. Big screen great for watching football.

Sunday is carvery day and is very well patronized. through the week their is a good menu and we enjoyed the food and excellent views of the harbour.

Wouldn't recommend. Have had 2 meals this visit to St.Marys. Not impressed by either. The vegetables, particularly the beans and parsnips with the carvery today was cold. There was no way the temperature was any where near the minimum 63° required for holding temperature. Thus, this can lead to food poisoning.

Had 2 meals since arriving. Linguini which was pretty tasteless and husband had slow roasted lamb shank that was a bit tough and gristle. Just had a carvery and the vegetables were practically cold, particularly the beans and parsnips. No way was it anywhere near the 63° holding temperature required.

Lovely journey and service from the whole team from an old boat built in Appledore near where we live. If a new one has to be built then please let it be in Appledore. Thankyou for many lovely journies over the years.

A great Club, everyone is welcome and the regulars made us feel at home.

This is a little treasure on sr Mary’s on the Isles of Scilly. We usually go for Sunday lunch, but this year it’s been so busy that we couldn’t get in. We managed to get a table in the week, and weren’t disappointed! All six of us said it was the nicest meal we had had in the two weeks!

Look at the sign, how sad. We have been here all week, staying right next door and the sign says they are full for food bookings, been there permanently below the 'welcome'. Despite that every evening people come and go. As a tourist it makes me feel very unwelcome.

When booking I was not told that only roast was available on a Sunday which is not what we would have chosen. We had the roast as no other option but it was very disappointing as it had obviously been reheated and swimming in gravy.

Love this place and I always will. Many, many happy memories. I personally think its getting better than ever!

Great food at very good prices. The service was excellent and very good views of the ocean.

Super Sunday carvery, plate piled high with choice of beef, turkey and pork. Six vegetables and Yorkshire pudding. Pleasant service, great harbour views. Dog friendly. Tasty pudding too. Only £10 for main course, brilliant value for Scilly. Seems to be imperative to book in advance, as elsewhere in Scilly this year.

Fantastic roast meals on Sundays. We booked several weeks in advance and it was a good job as they are limited to numbers at the moment. We had 5 meals there and they were all excellent. Friendly staff and fantastic views over the quay. Hope...

Food was ok but not high standard. Butter in individual wrapped portions, main course seemed like it had been reheated. Table service was friendly, but not polished. Prices on a par with the much nicer St Mary's Hall Hotel, just up the road. It's a...

Pints have gone up. Bloody covid what can you do

Good value place to eat and have a drink. We are in the lioness bar/restaurant at the back with fab views. As with most places it is advisable to book early as they get booked up quickly. We both had muscles to start both Thai and marinara were nice, albeit a little over cooked for me. The mains were delicious, seabass with scallops and crab and prawn tagliatelle. The service was very good and staff were very helpful and happy. The main bar is is quite big and tables well spaced if it's just a drink your after I would definitely recommend it, good value again. Some nice ales (Skinner's) and the usual lager's.

Unbelievable food and drink at the club this evening. The service was extremely welcoming with great food from the highly talented chef Ben and lovely views to match. A highly recommended venue for an unforgettable dining experience.

This is a review for the restaurant upstairs with the views out to the sea. We went there last night and was very pleasantly surprised. Nice restaurant setup with a backdrop of classical music and very friendly service. The food was also very good. We ate as vegetarians with no problem. There are vegan options as well. We had the parsnip soup for starters followed by mash and Mediterranean tart with broccoli and peas. It was excellent. There’s also a decent selection of wines. Would definitely recommend if you’re looking for something to eat in St Mary’s. We had a table by the window so enjoyed the views as well. What’s not to like?

Best place in Hugh Town for atmosphere and prices. It's a bit basic but all the better for it. Unpretentious. The staff are friendly and the Sunday carvery is the best I've ever had. Ever. Anywhere. Ever. Make sure sure you join at the start of your visit to get the 'cheaper' bar prices.

We visited the Scillonian Club twice during our holiday for their Sunday carvery. There was a good choice of meat and lots of vegetables plus Yorkshire pudding and good gravy. Plus a lovely view of the quay. Excellent.

Good beer, good value. Nice staff and you will meet some nice locals as well. The restaurant has some of the best views in High Town, with a down to earth menu and down to earth prices. It's said the do the best Sunday lunch on the Island.

This has to be the best value Sunday lunch on the islands. The fish and chips are also great. The views over the harbour are amazing - even on a wet day!

2nd time in a week my order from the bar side was missed, it was only chips, how hard is that?! Barman blamed the chef and shoved the money back into my hand. No care. Terrible service. Avoid.

This is a gem. We are here 3 times on our holiday. The service was excellent. The food is delicious good portions and a reasonable price. Lovely view in the lyoness bar. Can't fault it.

Open to non members. A no frills restaurant with wonderful views, great service and delicious food and a bar.

We visited the Scillonian club one evening at 8.27pm (they close for dinner at 8.30pm) and ordered a quick fish and chips together with two glasses of wine. The range of food is limited but the elevated view over the harbour is super - and the food came quickly. My chips were underdone but the fish tasted good. People say that the 'all you can eat' carvery on a Sunday afternoon is a highlight!

Excellent John Dory and Hake. Friendly service, well presented. Simple but well done. Nice beer and amazing views across the harbour. Might not look promising from outside, but it’s definitely worth a visit and there’s even a small terrace.

Good food, great views and friendly staff

Stopped here three times during our holiday to the IOS. Twice we ordered drinks, once we sat outside with them with a lovely view over the bay and the next time we sat inside presumable with the locals. We also ordered some take away food of a vegan burger which was delicious. Would go again.

We travelled to the Isles of Scillly so I could get an idea of spending part of our Australian winter here...I was not disappointed.

This appears to be a favourite with the locals. We have not eaten here but are told that the Sunday roast is recommended, We just went in for drinks but the conversation was good and we perhaps stayed longer than intended - but that's a good thing.

Had a lovely roast dinner here whilst on holiday a few weeks ago. Staff were very friendly and the food was delicious.

Had a really lovely Sunday Carvery with a nice view over the harbour and beach. The Carvery was tasty and the price was excellent at just £10. The desserts were really nice and decent portions too! Would recommend!

Fish at the lyonesse bar.Delicious fish we had John Dory and Monkfish reasonable priced. Lovely views staff very friendly.

The restaurant has great views across the harbour, don't be put off with the entrance through the social club. The menu is mostly fish and burgers. I had the John Dory which was excellent and my wife had burger with chips, this review would have had five stars if the chips had been freshly cooked and more concern shown by the waiter. It is a pleasant seating area with a nice well stocked bar and the prices are very reasonable. If we visit Scilly again we would probably give it another try.

This is a club which is open to all and offers fish or burgers, with a carvery on Sunday. We opted for fish with my wife trying the hake in a cajun sauce whilst I settled for the Haddock and chips. A good range of drinks also available. The waiter was very friendly and attentive, the food very good and the view over the harbour excellent. Well worth trying.

The carvery was good last time we went but it was cold. This time it was hot and very good. Amazing value for £10. There was a choice of beef turkey or pork and you could have all three if you wanted. There was stuffing, Yorkshire puddings and 6 different vegetables.

This has changed to a fish restaurant this year, but the high standard and the great value for money hasn't changed. I had the hake in cajun sauce with salad, which was extremely tasty and beautifully cooked. My sister had cod and chips, and said the same!

Restaurant with a view hidden from view - the modest entrance from the street belies the excellent classic British seaside fare and the view of the seafront through picture windows. Generous portions cooked fresh to order and friendly service. We went twice during our week on St Marys!

Excellent venue for watching sport on TV whilst enjoying a pint or two. Great value for money.

I visited on Sunday lunchtime in May 19. The Carvery was plentiful, plates piled high with food, all for a tenner. Drink prices were reasonable. Desserts were massive. Great view of harbour. Good value for Scilly. You must book up, though.

Book a Sunday roast here great food and views. Ok you have to brave the social bar where the locals hang out but some of their stories are amazing.

We had mixed weather during a recent stay on the Scillies. After a particularly wet Sunday it was great to spend the evening with friends at the Scillonian Club participating in their Charity quiz. Excellent quiz master. Lots of teams playing. Good mix of questions. Everyone did well. Good pint of Skinners' Betty Stogs.

Great food, great atmosphere good selection of drinks

We came one evening for a meal and it was delicious. Very filling and good sized portions. We couldn't fit in a dessert course! Do not be put off by the entrance - just go up the stairs and into the restaurant and the view is great. Husband had a ?casserole and I had fish and chips - both excellent and at very reasonably prices too. Staff friendly and helpful.

Another superb carvery! Best on St Mary's!

The carvery was beautifully prepared. There was turkey, beef and pork with many choices of vegetables. We also had a couple of pints of well kept beer. If I lived in Hughtown I would eat there every Sunday, it is such good value. So why not a score of 5? I don't know if it was the cold plates, but the food was cold by the time we got back to the table. When that little issue is sorted it would easily be top marks.

Lovely roasts and a cracking pint also a health selection of spirits.

We had the Sunday carvery and absolutely loved it, a choice of pork, beef or turkey (or a bit of each) then help yourself to roast potatoes, roast parsnips and about six different veg with a vat of gravy that is so good it brings a tear to your eye, if you have room the puddings are fantastic as well. Yes it does look like a working men's club from outside but pop in and you will not regret it.

Great home cooked carvery, with an amazing view.

We were staying on the Islands and visited the bar a couple of times. Very good selection if drink especially my triple gin. Nice atmosphere good service.

The main restaurant is closed this week so stopped by for a drink and some bar food. Good value, big portions for food and nicely prepared. Liked the home made coleslaw. Lots going on, darts, pool and cards as well as big screen football. Good place.
