We have recently stayed at the Old Ferry Inn, it was absolutely fantastic. The staff were excellent, and the owner cooked the most gorgeous breakfast. We stayed in room 8 which was beautiful, very clean with beautiful crisp white cotton bedding. It had the most amazing view of both the town and the sea. This is an old pub, full of character and charm and we were made to feel very welcome. We will definitely go back again. Whilst staying there, I lost my bracelet and didn't discover this until I was home. I telephoned the pub and the staff looked for it, and found it and posted it back to me - no charge. Thank you Old Ferry Inn, you have been amazing.

We had an amazing three nights at The Old Ferry Inn (July 2024) with our cat. It was a relief to know the hotel was pet friendly and includes cats as well as dogs. All the staff including Kath, Sharon and Kyle and Pete, were great people and super friendly. The views from the restaurant and the terrace are awesome with views across the river to Fowey. Delicious breakfast and we had evening meals on two nights and the food was of a high standard and cooked to perfection. Room was lovely, shower was one of the best we've experienced. A great hotel, lovely location, super staff and superb food and drink from this historic, traditional Inn. Thank you Paul you're hotel gave us an amazing experience. Highly recommended.

Good pub food served with a smile and watched over by the most gorgeous, huge fluffy dog whose home it is. Very rude staff! We made a booking via their online booking. We paid £30 deposit for roast dinner which they said they offered into the evening. We turned up, it was completely dead and despite being told we’d get table service, no one helped us. They then refused to give us a refund, so will be taking this up with the restaurant and booking company they use.

We booked a two night stay at the Old Ferry Inn at a high nightly rate. We arrived to find the building wrapped in scaffolding with building work happening on the neighbouring property and noisy roofing work happening at the Old Ferry. No mention was made on the website or at booking of any works. On checking in we were told work would cease at 4 pm that day for the weekend. A limited version of the truth as on Saturday morning at 8 am scaffolders arrived to reposition the scaffolding accompanied by loud dance from 11 am - a little at odds with tranquility implied by the pictures on the website. A bit more honesty with customers and maybe a small discount on a £225 a night room might go a little way to mitigate against the understandable need to make repairs. The staff at The Old Ferry Inn were very welcoming and friendly. The room comfortable, however, the overall experience fell well short of the promise and left us feeling a little exploited

We had a very poor experience here having paid a considerable amount for our room with a harbour view in advance which was a mistake. The room was grubby with a tiny tv. There was no hot water for our shower on our last morning. Building and decorating was in progress in some corridors with plastic sheeting over a corridor entrance. Public areas looked tired. The pub itself has lots character with a quirky little room next to it selling various home distilled spirits. Our experience here was of a below average B & B.

We hadn’t visited the Old Ferry Inn for over 18 months following a dreadful experience. We used to go at least once a fortnight and then the new owners recruited an executive chef who to put it politely was a clueless idiot. We took a party of 6 and told them that it was our favourite restaurant in the area. The food was atrocious, a poorly constructed expensive and inappropriate menu. And to cap it all the Chef and his senior team were aloof and rude. We were therefore absolutely delighted to revisit and find that it is back to its excellent best. The old team are back in charge and the Chef is fabulous. As others have said on here Sunday Lunch is delicious and will prevent you needing to eat for the rest of the week. The beers are good (but a decent dark ale wouldn’t go amiss) and both lunch and dinner menus are extensive sensibly priced and delicious (whatever you order) So very very happy to have our local back!

Good no nonsense pub with the usual pub menu options. Had a great chicken curry but the fish and chips offered a frozen fish portion, disappointing as the pub is right by the sea! No evidence of the tapas menu mentioned in bio above. Service friendly and the pub really comes alive on Friday nights with the locals. Nice views across to Fowey and if you are staying there simply take the ferry as a foot passenger as it’s a one minute walk as you step off.

We originally thought we’d just pop in for a drink , being the halfway point of our walk on both sides of the Fowey … however as we had such a lovely welcome from the staff - coupled with the fact that we had been drenched by constant rain 🤠 - we decided to have our packed lunch another day & instead try their Sunday Roast . Happily there was a very imaginative vegetarian version (Beetroot Wellington) and we were offered a table at the top of the pub overlooking the River . The food was delicious , full of flavour , with all the trimmings …excellent Yorkshire Puds , lovely individual Cauliflower & Broccoli cheese things… crisped-up roasted spuds & tasty ‘Tomato’ gravy too ! We had a lovely lunch with great service and set in a wonderful location with a very relaxing atmosphere … it was quite the place to be & superb service from friendly staff & extremely good value for money to boot !

This is currently a traditional pub serving pub food such as fish and chips , ham egg and chips etc. There is no evidence of the gastro-pub food that can be seen in the photos on trip advisor. The menu on the website is accurate. The food was freshly cooked and well prepared. Be aware that the small plates may not be viewed as a starter as such. My main meal was served before I had a chance to finish my whitebait. We asked for a dry white wine at the bar, but what we were served was not this at all. However on pointing this out it was replaced by something more appropriate. Whilst there is a lovely view , the upper dining room appears to be for hotel guests only,so from our table at the back of the eating area we could not see it. The website opens with information about the accommodation and not the food. This appears to reflect the focus of this establishment at the moment.

Used this Restaurant when it was under the previous managment and noted a marked improvement in decor.Sad to say that in two evenings meat was either not on the menu or on the "specials" and sold out. Tried to get the attention of the staff for some condiments to no availTried to order some sweets while the restaurant staff hidwhen we gave up she did appear for us tro settle the billPoor

Fantastic evening at ‘The Old Ferry Inn’ in Bodinnick. Met by the welcoming staff and owner Paul, who just couldn’t do enough for us throughout the evening. We, 4 of us, started the evening with drinks on the sun terrace overlooking the stunning views of the river Fowey and Fowey itself. This was followed by an exceptional dinner of 3 courses. The starters were superb and I particularly enjoyed the special of Cornish King Crab. The mains were delicious with subtle clever touches on some classic dishes. My personal recommendation would be the delicately battered cod with accompanying hand cut chips, homemade tartare sauce and vinaigrette pearls. Desert was carefully crafted and my recommendation would be the signature raspberry gin jam torte with handmade raspberry gelato. We then enjoyed a few more drinks on the sun terrace watching the world pass by on the river. All in all, a fabulous evening and one we hope to repeat soon.

We ate at the newly opened, under new ownership, Ferry Inn, last Friday evening. We were warmly welcomed into the modern dining room up 3 short flights of stairs with a bird's eye view of the Estuary. The table setting was crisp, clean, modern. We were 2 couples, meeting up, both from Wales, both on holiday, so very relaxed. Our waitress, a delightful young lady is an asset to the restaurant, but it transpires that her first and only love is farming, so she will soon be leaving. She took our order, even though the Inn was busy, in a calm, friendly unhurried manner, recommending tonics to pair with the pink peppercorn gin. I must add, the choice was spot on, a glorious summery pale pink delight.I felt the service was discreet and ever ready. The 4 of us chose differently for each course, and the 4 declared each plate of food, was served beautifully, presented artistically, with quality produce, expertly cooked. All compliments to the chef.We were entertained by Paul, a partner in the business, helping out on service and our waitress's lively banter. He was basically begging her to stay, as she was so good. So, I enjoyed the charcuterie plate, local scallops, and the gold standard of all cheese boards.A magnificent platter of exquisitely arranged local cheese, tasting like home-made, well balanced pickles, oat cakes, a round of herbed butter and a stonking cider slush puppie, a novel palate cleanser. The other meals looked as good as mine, and were pronounced delicious too. Wherever the chef came from, his previous employer, must now be in tears and mourning his loss. If we did not live so far away, this restaurant would be a firm regular favourite, we would be most happy to work our way through the menu, and recommend unhesitatingly to all. The whole experience was without fault for all of us. Paul found time for a chat at the end of our meal, despite having a long drive home to Newquay. We would love to re-visit. If you are going to be down near Fowey, book weeks in advance, you definitely don't want to miss out.

What a lovely place! As soon as we arrived , we were greeted by Nicky and the owner Paul with his beautiful dog Archie . We were made to feel welcome from the off . Room and the en suite were basic , but adequate. Bed was very comfortable . Tea, coffee , water and biscuits provided every day . Restaurant food was excellent , ate in there 2 out of 4 nights and thought it was better than the restaurants in Fowey . Breakfasts were plentiful . All the staff were lovely and all very personable . There is a fantastic terrace overlooking the water , great for a pre dinner drink . The only negative I can think of is the fact that the hotel is the other side of the river from Fowey , so you have to take the ferry to get to the pubs and restaurants in Fowey , but it’s only £2 to cross as a foot passenger . After a day out , it was nice to come back to the peace and quiet of The old Ferry Inn , have a lovely meal and a drink with very welcoming people . Would we stay again ?…… Yes ! Definitely!!

The food was excellent. We thoroughly enjoyed the catch of the day (cod) and Chicken burger; well presented and delicious. Our experience of the service was rather poor. We had requested an outdoor table, which was not arranged for us when we arrived. We were seated originally inside where the atmosphere was quieter than that of the Etihad stadium. (We were the only table speaking with no music in the background!)Ordering food and drinks took a long time after we were seated. We were given the impression that we were a nuisance, which was unfortunate. The food was excellent so if the service was improved then we would be eager to return.

We stayed in the bar as we have a little dog but the vibe was lively and fun. We had 3 courses with wine and then tried the home distilled gins. Merry to say the least which help the walk home up the hill. The food was delicious too, we had the brisket bites, pollock and ribeye, followed by bread and butter pudding. I wanted the caramel apple but it had run out and we recommended the chocolate and raspberry parfait which was excellent too. Wanted to go back again tonight but fully booked.

We stayed here for 1 night as we were travelling around Cornwall. The landlord was so very helpful and funny. My sister is a Vegan and said she had the best pasta dish for her dinner and she was made a Vegan kedgeree for breakfast and said it was the best. The chef did himself proud. We will be booking again next year.

Drive or walk off the Fowey -Bodinnick ferry and you'll find the The Old Ferry Inn, right by the ferry and perched on the hillside opposite 'Ferryside' Daphne Du Maurier's first home. The pub, with rooms, is quaint and dog friendly and the current chef has developed an original and tasty menu which goes a god level above traditional pub grub. For all of that though, the real gem is the view from the terrace; taking in Polruan, Fowey itself and the view along the river out to sea. Catch the ferry over, order a cold something and settle in. Trust me, you won't want to stop looking at that view.

Been here a few times, old school pub with great food. Highly recommend the fish and chips of course, but also the special home made spicy pasty. Good service and reasonable price. Plus a superb view from the terraces.

Lovely fish and chips and gluten free too! Nice pub with a view across to Fowey. Pleasant staff. Bit quiet but not surprising in the current climate. Would definitely recommend if staying at local campsite.

Amazing food. Beautifully cooked and presented. We had crab with runners beans to start and one pork and one sea bass as main. Chocolate mousse as dessert. Open kitchen and they cook on a barbecue. We
