We found the pub on trip advisor and thought we'd give it a whirl. Booking was easy and we had a warm welcome. The food was great, we had the steak n ale pie which was lovely, as was the rack of ribs. Reasonably priced and good value. Recommended.

Drove past a few times and this time decided to book and try. We was not disappointed, as a family 2 adults and 1 child, there was plenty on the menu and food was good. We will return.

Great little pub! Casey was very accommodating, as was every member of staff. The Sole with garlic butter, broccoli and smashed potatoes was incredible! The lemon drizzle sundae was also fab :D

Second time in a week, both times we found the food amazing and great value and the two waitresses are a dream and make it a wonderful place to visit, thank you so much, see you soon 🍺

When you're tired of being ripped off in St Ives, this lovely pub is only 1.5 miles outside. Nice interior, real ales and lovely food, all very reasonably priced. Will be back.

Cant fault this place at all stayed at Polmanter Touring Park and had a 2 wonder down to the Halestown (Friday 30th July) Really friendly greeting by the young lady at the bar who was incredibly polite and welcoming all evening (cant remember the girls name) 7 of us ate a main and dessert and not one complaint, food came quickly enough and was incredible and plentiful lovely atmosphere in the pub and decorated and lit very nice the onion rings are a thing of beauty!!! one of the best dining experiences for me personally in this country to date

Came upon Halsetown Inn on our travels at just the right time! Classic old school pub in a listed building, friendly staff and good eats.

Fantastic Sunady Lunch, very well presented, I personally had roast beef (sirloin) and was beautifully tender. Lots of very well cooked vegetables and cauliflower cheese. Fantastic Yorkshire puddings and additional vegetables served separately. High recommend and would definitely visit again.

Food absolutely delicious, service spot on, price spot on. We went for a last minute dinner, so despite having not booked & the pub being busy, they quickly made room for us and made us feel incredibly welcome. We had the chickpea curry which was so fragrant with the herbs & spices & beautifully presented. We also had the burger & chips which came as 2 homemade burgers cooked to perfection with lightly crispy chips, fluffy on the inside! My younger son ate from the children’s menu & what a relief to find a pub that served the same quality food for children. All of our meals were of the highest quantity, we were so impressed as you may gather! We run a holiday let in Devon & make a point of trying the local pubs food. I rarely review but this one really was quite exceptional.

A great pub, very friendly service. Great drinks and fantastic food. I had Tuscan Chicken which was superb and gluten free. My partner had chicken and ribs, he said it was lovely but the slaw was very salty so didn’t eat it. Desserts fab. Dog friendly too which was a bonus. Would return if we were in that area again.

A great little country pub just on the outskirts of St. Ives. Definitely book as it gets busy in the evenings. It's not the biggest place so it's nice and cozy. A warm welcome and some super friendly waiting staff. The food is good quality pub grub...between us we had pork belly, scampi, ribs, and fish and everyone was suitably happy with their food. Good portion sizes and some lovely desserts are on offer as well.

We were staying just along the road and saw the sign for breakfast at the weekend . Thought ‘let’s give it a try’ and boy we were not disappointed. FANTASTIC brekky with high quality food, and lovely staff. I would definitely recommend and wished we’d stayed longer to have been able to try dinner .

The staff are very polite & attentive. The service was excellent. We did not book & they managed to find us a nice table for two. The food was very, very good. Can really recommend this place, good food, good service & good value for money.

My friend and I visited the inn after reading some of the other reviews and we were not disappointed. The attractive exterior is matched by the rustic charm of the interior. From a menu which provides a good choice we both opted for the lamb shank, which was delicious. Ashleigh and Isobel, our waitresses, were efficient and friendly. We would certainly make a return visit to the inn.

I found this travelling back from a weekend away the food was brilliant my pork belly was heaven and sticky toffee great thanks guys

Would not recommend Veg Stack main. Very poor. Staff member very indignant when this was pointed out to her. Very nice pub decor. Hope it is not raining when you go to your car to go home as car park not too close.

Just been here for Sunday lunch and I have to say we had an amazing meal, the Yorkshire puddings where actually better than my own, full of flavour great roast potatoes lovely veg, cauliflower cheese was fabulous and to top it off the lemon parfait was spectacular the best I’ve ever had, if you like lemon zing this will definitely be your thing, staff are so welcoming especially Jamie. We will 100% be back, loved it 🥰

We've lived in Cornwall for roughly 2.5 years and we're trying new pubs/restaurants every month. We've driven past this Inn on lots of occasions and wondered what it was like. We were not disappointed! The food we ordered was delicious and high praise to Jamie who was very friendly and attentive which made for a relaxed atmosphere. My sea bass was exceptionally good and it was nice to see a chef experimenting with local ingredients as well as some pub favourites. I'm sure we'll be back.

Fantastic Sunday Roast. Everything beautifully cooked and so tasty. Apple Crumble and custard heavenly. Staff are all so very friendly.

We stopped off here with our little dog for lunch after booking half an hour before. We received a friendly welcome, and our dog was offered some treats. I ordered fish and chips, and hubs ordered a burger. We waited a while for the food, which I was reassured by. When the food came out, it was excellent - the best fish and chips (and minted peas) I've ever had. As we were on a roll, we both ordered pudding, lemon posset for me, and crumble for hubs. Again, absolutely beautiful. This was a lovely pub with very good home cooked food and the team were very friendly. I'd recommend a visit.

We were really looking forward to eating here given the number of great reviews but we were sadly disappointed. The food was average - my husband's pie was burnt and my fish was average. We wanted to check out the beers on tap but were told to 'sit down please' by the owner, and when I asked to try the pecorino, was told no, they didn't do that - and in any case there was none. The bill included the tip but it wasn't obvious (or that it was discretionary). A real shame - we won't be going back.

Came in for Easter lunch today with my family, lovely pub, the staff were very nice and were very accommodating especially as I had 4 children with me The food was excellent, couldn’t fault anything I really liked how the food was served, and wasn’t just piled on a plate 10/10 will definitely visit again!

Had an amazing roast here today with family. Best we have had for a long time great value for money. Could not fault anything and the portions were great. We had a choice of beef lamb or pork or you could have all three meats lots of choice of veg. Will definitely be going back

Sunday Lunch amazing Can't remember the last time I have had such an epic meal in a pub I have been coming to for 50 years. Darren was right, the roast potatoes were properly crunchy. Friendly welcome and a good Sunday Lunch. Pork Shoulder (5), Crackling (0) , Roasts (4), Savoy Cabbage (3), Cauliflower (5), Carrots (4), Swede (4), Parsnip (4), Red Cabbage (5), Broccoli (2), Yorkshire Pud (4 ), Gravy (5). Kindly brought some replacement broccoli but was still very undercooked . Gravy served separately on request . Overall 4 for the Roast. The dessert was an awful excuse for a crumble , lovely fresh apples ruined by some stodge covered in granulated sugar.(2) Overall enjoyable Lunch and reasonable value but room for improvement .

This place has changed hands more times than a five pound note in recent years so it’s been very hit and miss. New, very experienced landlords took over just 4 weeks ago and have made a real difference. We stopped off here for a Sunday Roast today and were very pleasantly surprised. A choice of 3 meats, lamb, beef or pork plus a selection of other dishes so you didn’t necessarily have to have a traditional roast dinner if you didn’t fancy it. We both opted for the mixed meat dinner for £16.95 so we got to try a bit of each. Very pleasant but the best was the lovely selection of vegetables and for a lovely change, GREEN broccoli instead of that awful khaki colour a lot of places serve! For me personally it’s the vegetables and the effort made with them that is the deciding factor. Cauli cheese, lovely red cabbage, broccoli, carrots and cabbage, perfectly cooked and presented. Spot on with an enormous Yorkshire pudding and lashings of rich gravy. Very happy with this and if they keep this level of quality up, together with the lovely friendly service we received today, they’ll make a roaring success of the place, finally. It’s a nice tidy pub, got loads of parking and is easy to find. It has such a lot going for it and deserves to be successful. We live locally and will most definitely be back. .

Stayed on a nearby campsite. Calum and the chiefs were wonderful served us at 4:15 as we were starving,although they weren’t serving until 530. Lovely food. Would recommend.

Came here twice whilst visiting Cornwall and wow what Lovely lovely staff and amazing food. The waitress was a young woman and she couldn’t have been more helpful or polite if she tried absolutely amazing customer service, as for the food it was absolutely lovely and was very accommodating to put ‘real cheese’ on the vegan burger. To top it all off service was so quick and the bill was cheap thank you

We couldn't recommend this pub enough. We had three courses each and the food was really tasty and well cooked. The service was also excellent. It's definitely worth a visit if you're in St Ives!

Lovely meal yesterday evening - Steak cooked to perfection and so tender. The rest of the family all enjoyed their meals. Service was great as always, the staff are always so cheerful, friendly and welcoming. Thoroughly enjoyable evening, so lucky to have the Halsetown Inn as our local.

Sort of an old fashioned pub, but with excellent meals. We had the Steak on Friday night, and it was cooked as I love steak. Veg, and rest of the meal was really fab. Yes, I will definitely be going back there as quickly as I we can, the atmosphere in the place is friendly, service quick and it's simply a nice place for a night out.

5 stars all the way. I ended up here after the Engine Inn were not doing food. They were and I am so glad they were. I had a steak which was perfect so no complaints about the food. However it was also the staff and the atmosphere that made this place 5 stars and above. I had a 5 hour drive here and a hot sticky day so my thanks to the 3 members of staff I met at the bar who were all lovely and chatty. Like me!.

We were quite lucky as our food arrived quite fast and tasted good - Fish and Chips. The staff seemed a bit inexpirienced but they were really charming. Place itself is cozy. Would come Again.

Having visited this place numerous times over the last 15 years and seen various management teams and menu styles, the new owners have got it spot on. We booked a table for 12, a mix of adults and children. We were given a lovely warm welcome by the two staff members who work amazing together. The table was beautifully prepared when we arrived. The menu was simple and not overly complicated. After placing our order, with a few amendments (fussy kids!) to what the menu stated, all the food came together, lovely and hot and exactly how we ordered it. The food was simply delicious, we pretty much covered every item on the menu within our party, and every item was cooked to perfection. This place is definitely a must if you are visiting St Ives. I'm already looking forward to visiting next year!!

Ten of us booked to eat here this evening - and we weren't disappointed! Food was home cooked - the mushrooms on toast were to die for, the beef bourguignon was possibly the best we have ever had with superb flavours and beef which melted in the mouth! The burgers tasted home-made and were delicious, as were the chips; desserts excellent too. Things were a bit chaotic initially with no menus and food advertised on the website not available "at this time", but the youngsters were charming and the food served more than made up for the problems!! We will definitely return!

We gather the chef was not on that night and it showed !! None of the food was particularly good or inspiring and not up to a standard of £ 110 for 4 with no wine .we live locally and would find it difficult to recommend it to friends!!!

Have always loved the Halsetown - lovely atmosphere and very welcoming , which is just as true with the new owners . 11 of us came for lunch and those who had burgers (vegan) and fish and chips were very complimentary of the food . Unfortunately the Sunday lunch (both vegan and meat) , whilst well cooked and nicely presented , had no seasoning at all and very limited veg. Even with lots of salt and pepper added , it really didn’t taste like much at all . Great potential there, but more flavour desperately needed and more veg (carrots , greens, Yorkshire pudding, cauliflower cheese) even if as add on items or a bit extra (price was £15 per roast). The brownie was received well but only one portion left - the crumbles were a little pricey for the small portion, with not much topping - and hard to eat from a tea cup with cream on the side ! Just want to emphasis we did have a lovely time and will definitely be back for drinks / other meals , but wouldn’t come back for a roast unless things change (things being new , I know that’s possible so always like to try again in the future as HT used to be THE place to go for a Sunday roast and I think there is so much potential to make this a great thing throughout the long winters!)

What a fabulous pub. It is exactly what you want it to be when you walk in. A very friendly welcome from the lovely people behind the bar, and an enthusiastic, committed owner, she never stops. A chat with the locals and great home cooked food, Wed -Sunday. We ate and had to come back a second time for food, several more times just for the crack. Mussels are spectacular and home made beef bouginion delicious. You have got to try The Halestown Inn.

Superb!!! One of the greatest experiences I’ve had in a long time. The pub itself is so sweetly designed; snug, cosy, and comfortable. Classy without being stuffy. The food is so thoughtfully put together and beautifully presented. The drinks are wonderful and expertly poured. The staff couldn’t be more gracious and welcoming. I will happily go again and again! Thank you so much to the whole crew! What an absolute gem.

We had such a delicious family meal here. Not only was the food brilliant, but the customer service was excellent. Jaime went out of her way to make sure we had everything we needed and the atmosphere and rooms in the pub felt full of character. The hospitality here is extremely pleasant that goes hand in hand with fantastic service. We found this pub due to working in the area but have now made it a local, go to spot for food and drinks. The menu is very varied with presentation and quality food at hand. I actually had the best mussels I have ever eaten there and this says something as I used to live in the South of France where nearly every restaurant serves them. Lovely little spot 👌
