We are at the pub in early December. Dani serving front of house was so friendly and such a lot of fun. Paulo in the kitchen cooked some really tasty food. I had the sea bass with kifler potatoes and superbly rich sauce. Definitely recommend the Sawley Arms as a summer or winter destination

We stayed last night (room6) and we had a fantastic time. The room was very ‘boutique’ with blue lights as well as normal ones. The bed was so comfortable! The bunk bed had its own door and curtain which our granddaughter absolutely loved. The tv in the bathroom was a lovely touch as were the house coats and slippers We had an absolutely beautiful meal with family and the staff were really helpful. The manageress/owner had time to come and spend chatting with us and making us feel like friends rather than customers. Breakfast was rather nice too. All cooked to order so there was a bit of a wait but perfection isn’t instant is it. I would highly recommend this beautiful hotel for either a nights stay, a beautiful meal or simply just to call in and have a drink in the lovely relaxing atmosphere that is The Sawley Inn.

nice pub, though prices are 10-20% more than pub, with that irritating policy of adding automatic 10% fee to the bill even for a pub lunch. C'mon fellas, if you want another 10% just add it to the menu prices so we can decide if we want to buy up front, like in every other retail outlet

This little gem came highly recommended and we weren’t disappointed. The staff are warm and friendly and the interior is cosy and inviting with the log burners adding to the overall warmth of the interior. The menu offers an excellent variety for all manner of tastes which, if you’re a foodie, will make choosing difficult however this just gives you the perfect excuse for a return visit. The food arrived promptly, was beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. Well worth a visit and we’ll definitely be returning soon

The front of house are clearly are trying their best but can’t cover up the bad food and limited resources they have. Although this happened at the end I think it’s possibly the most important info you’ll want, the staff do not keep basically any tips or service charge. We asked our server and they said that not only is it split with hotel staff (who I’m not receiving any service from!), but a large chunk is kept by the owner. Just a other few bits; The hot food was served on cold plates, for us it was too expensive for the essentially just reheated food, glass table covered in finger prints which had clearly tried to be cleaned by the staff (but who puts glass tables in a pub?) and can’t be thoroughly cleaned in peak service, showed to a cold conservatory as we had a dog, there seemed to be no leader within the staff hence they all looked abit lost and lacked organisation. I don’t know if they have recently lost a large amount of staff, a supervisor/manager or even a chef! But the advertised level of hospitality was nowhere near what we received. We asked for the door to be closed in the conservatory, which was cold but the pub area was hot. Then it was opened again as the people in the pub were too hot due to the fires being loaded up with logs by who we were told was the owner, but the logs were clealry not needed! We won’t be going back (shock) we opted to go there instead of staying in ripon for a meal as we wanted a more upmarket setting and meal but next time will go opt to stay in ripon!

Travelled from Reading for a weekend stay nearby and decided to eat at The Sawley Arms on Sunday evening and it was excellent! The staff were so warm, friendly and welcoming. The best Sunday Roast we have eaten out in years, the food was so tasty, great portion size, cauliflower cheese was to die for. Then we had dessert and again total surprise, even the ice creams came out looking great with berries and a white chocolate shard. The chocolate brownie was lovely and again double the portion size we'd have got back home and it tasted amazing. Shame we live so far away otherwise we'd definitely be regular visitors.

What a lovely place, staff were great, and the food is absolutely beautiful. We ate here 2 nights and also had a take out sandwich for breakfast and dined in for a full English, I can't fault any of it, it's dog friendly, everyone was very welcoming. If you want brilliant food with brilliant service then this is the place to visit. We also went in for the quiz night on Wednesday and that was a good laugh they served up a chilli too, my grandparents didn't want chilli so they so they made them a sandwich with some salad instead which was lovely of them. We stayed across the road for a 3 night break and having the sawley arms across the road was perfect. We hope to visit again in the future.

We visited the pub on a Monday lunchtime, a meeting place after a long journey to stay in the area. We received a lovely welcome from Estelle which continued the whole time we were there. The 'dog area' was welcoming but not as nice as the rest of the pub with its lovely fire. There was a noisy machine making ice in the corner which was annoying. We enjoyed it so much we went back the following day for a late lunch/early tea. What a difference - no Estelle, no warm welcome, plus the noisy ice machine again .... the guy taking our food order was friendly enough but new to his job. The other guy behind the bar wasn't so welcoming & suggested maybe next time we leave the dog in the car if we wanted to sit in the better area! Such a shame as it tainted our experience from the first visit. Needless to say, we ate elsewhere for the next two days of our holiday.

Found this pub after a walk, beautiful food and the staff were brilliantly helpful, even giving us a lift back when the taxi failed, would definitely recommend, well worth a visit

One of the best fish and chips my mum ever had. Fresh and light batter and good portion size. Warm and welcoming friendly staff.

The staff are great. They accommodated our new baby and made sure we had room for the pram. The food is the best quality whenever we come. Every time we come it makes me think why we didn't eat there before this year!.

Popped in whilst looking for a quick lunch. Very unusual setting for a tea room but works well with about 10 tables set up between the pews & the altar. The pews act as an overflow area if all tables are taken but we arrived as one was being vacated. Very friendly staff, a relaxing atmosphere and excellent value for money. Menu is limited to a choice of rolls, soup and a tempting range of homemade cakes & scones. Rolls could have improved if pickle, mustard or mayonnaise had been offered but the cakes & scones made up for this as they were very nice. The church itself is a delightful building and worth a visit in it’s own right. An interesting alternative lunch option.
