Tancred Farm Shop in Harrogate

Been visiting here for years. They've recently extended the cafe area, building a new barn type extension (and more parking). The homemade cakes looked delicious but we opted for bacon butties. Lovely bacon, plenty of it. Bought some meat from the butchers counter too. They have a small deli counter, a butchers, fresh veg selection and various grocery items. Much smaller farm shop than many but enough in there for the basics, but all quality and mostly sustainable brands. They do meat pack offers too such as 3 packs of sausages or a pork pack, containing a selection of mince, sausages, steaks, etc at slightly more than supermarket prices but much better quality. Watch out for the old sheepdog as he likes to wander around outside and in the car park and unfortunately, his eyesight isn't what it used to be!

Nuestra primera visita a esta cafetería y tienda de granja. Muy limpio y espacioso café con bonitas vistas de las cabras que vagan por los campos en el exterior. Admite perros siempre que entres por la puerta lateral de la cafetería y no por la ruta normal a través de la tienda. El servicio fue amable y eficiente. Dejaron de servir comidas principales a las 3 pm (después de lo cual hay pasteles y bebidas disponibles). Estábamos muy agradecidos de que todavía estaban felices de hacernos una comida principal a pesar de que llegamos a alrededor de 14. 55 . Hamburguesa muy agradable - con queso de tocino y ensalada servida con patatas fritas y ensalada de col y buen café. El menú parece bastante variado con un montón de opciones, así como una tabla especial con sopa casera y quiche. La granja en sí también era una joya con buenos carniceros, pequeño mostrador de delicatessen y queso, pequeña selección de frutas y verduras y una variedad de otros artículos de cerveza local, miel local, chutneys, pasteles y dulces y un montón de elementos esenciales. Definitivamente volveremos a visitar tanto la tienda como la cafetería, ya que es un punto de parada fácil cuando viajas entre York y Knaresborough.

This farm shop is the genuine article. If you enjoy home grown and locally sourced meat then this is worthy of a diversion to sample wholesome meat (beef, lamb , pork, chicken etc) with provenance that you can discuss with the farmer who raised the cows, lamb and sheep. They also have a cafe serving, well, everything you'd expect from a cafe! The attached shop is also like a village store.

No es la mayor tienda de granjas / restaurante en el que he estado y tiene una sensación rústica muy independiente (creo que es una granja en funcionamiento) Sin embargo, no dejes que eso te desanime, todos los que hablamos fueron súper amables y nos quedamos sintiendo que realmente realmente querían vernos, algo que lamentablemente falta en muchos lugares. Comí en la cafetería y la comida estaba absolutamente en la marca, la tienda es igual de buena, muy fácil de gastar unos kilos

Poor quality and very very very slow, a farm shop you would expect a quality breakfast, this was over cooked, poor quality and as cheap as they could make it! The staff were inattentive and uninterested, no standards whatsoever! The food hygiene rating is very just at 1 star! We will never return, wife quite ill after our visit, coleslaw was congealed and looked awful.

Family friendly cafe, perfect for a family meet up/ coffee date. The new cafe extension is cosy with the stove & the bunting. The family who own the farm shop/ cafe are always so welcoming. Visiting this farm shop is like stepping back in time. Meat is great quality, I wasn’t keen on the bread roll for my sandwich, it was a little dry. But, I would 100% visit the cafe again & I would recommend it for a cosy farm shop cafe date.

Had ham sandwich and coffee in the cafe. Really good value , plenty of tasty ham in the sandwich, accompanied with salad, coleslaw and potato crisps on the plate. There was plenty of fresh produce in the shop. The meat is prepared and cut by two friendly expert butchers to your satisfaction.

New spacious dining area all cosy with a log burner, and an excellent Sunday roast, what's not to like...? And the usual super friendly service. We love it.

Wow.What fantastic meat.We bought pork tray which was excellent value for money,sausages,Back Bacon and a Very big piece of Belly Pork.Also we got Chicken breasts,2 packs of beef mince and two steak and ale pies which we had for tea tonight,absolutely delicious.Will definitely be back very soon.👍👍

El café estaba bien, y el bollo que tomé con mantequilla y mermelada estaba muy sabroso. Mi problema con este lugar era que se anunciaba como amigo de los perros y es probablemente el lugar más hostil a los perros que he estado. Caminamos por todo el café y probamos todas las puertas, de las cuales había muchas, y todas estaban cerradas. Entonces pasamos por la granja y nos dijeron que no podíamos pasar por allí porque teníamos un perro y no se les permitía entrar en la granja. Explicamos que queríamos ir a la cafetería que se anunciaba en línea como que era apta para perros y todas las puertas estaban cerradas. Nos dijeron que deberíamos haber entrado en la tienda y pedirle a alguien que abriera una de las puertas, que es en realidad lo que estábamos haciendo. Además, la gente que trabajaba en el café tenía dos perros vagando libremente por el aparcamiento que ladraban y nos perseguían, y uno trató de atacar a mi perro que estaba en una pista. En general, no es muy agradable para los perros en absoluto.

A great well stocked farm shop but let down by the service at the cafe. It is so slooow!! The staff are polite but not attentive. I have used this cafe twice in recent weeks and both times the wait to order was too long.

Came here 2 weeks ago and now I’m a regular coming twice a week! The new cafe area is warm, cosy and very child friendly, the owners couldn’t do enough to help us. We also do our weekly food shop here the veg is a complete different quality to that of the supermarkets tastes and last much longer. The meat is also very good quality which justifies the price, we purchase there bulk offers to make it more affordable for us to be able to sustain ourselves. I’d recommend a nosey and a breakfast here any day! Mitch ☺️

Hay guys. We popped in in July, because I love a farm shop. Great friendly service. And their sausages are amazing. This morning I had two of your Merguez North African sausages, and OMG. Amazing. Give me serving ideas for the venison sausages please. I’m thinking a good mash with veg and a red wine gravy. What do you think???

There looked to be some nice produce in the farm shop, butchers looked good. Cafe a bit grubby, old tables, old equipment, and not the best in terms of decor. Needs a bit of a facelift.

This shop is hidden away, but is well worth seeking out. A great selection of local veg, super butchers counter and well stocked with everything else you would expect in a good farm shop. We didn't use the cafe, but i bet you get a cracking breakfast there ! Everything we bought was excellent. Recommended

A farm shop that's actually set in a farm - wonders will never cease! The farm dogs will watch your car for you while you are in, so you are totally safe parking. On site butcher, little cafe area, fresh food. All good. It's not big but it's a gem nonetheless.

Nice little farm shop with a good range of quality produce. Car park to front of premises, not very big. Bread, flour, honey, butchers, drinks, frozen produce, all sorts really. Has little café with a woodburner. Reasonably priced. Milk alternatives available. I can recommend the cherry and almond loaf.

We went on Friday morning for a breakfast my girlfriend had a small breakfast and I had a large unfortunately for us it wasn't great the bacon was extremely over done and small and the eggs must of been in the pan for a Long time, taking in mind no one else in but us and with two tea's £24.50. Very disappointing.

As farm shops and cafes go this is mediocre. If you wanted a big breakfast fry-up or a burger as you jumped off your motorbike then this is probably for you. The place looks a tad grubby with dated blue paintwork in need of attention and generally not too clean. Sorry folks but it just didn’t do it for us but some will be happy with it I am sure.

I have used Tancred since we moved two years ago to a village down the road. Always been excellent produce. We ordered a keg of lamb for Easter Sunday and it was Beautiful. Highly recommend Tancred and my so does my pooch who loves the homemade dog biscuits!

I've had a lot of breakfasts in my life, but never had one better than this. Awesome, extraordinary, phenomenal, can't say enough good things.

Not really sure where to start with this one but noticed a few things firstly the girl behind the counter could possibly do with more training and adhere to the food and hygiene standards touching her hair then stirring someone's coffee or whatever beverage it was turning the cup around by the top of the cup where people drink from not a good practice even without covid , the food was really nice couldn't complain and the fresh veg and meat is lovely however the toilets we used before we left seriously need cleaning didng look as though the shelf at the back of the toilet had not been cleaned In weeks it was filthy I had antibacterial wipes in my handbag and had to clean the seat before I used it plus under the toilet seat and the toilet itself was disgusting.

Stopped on the way from the A1 into York. Down a dead end road to a farm but not too far from the main road, just follow the big, and small signs. Farm shop looked well stocked. We just had coffees and a quick break.

Lovely meal, nicely hot, moist and just the right quantity 😋 and for a decent price too! Far rather visit a friendly and passionate independent than a faceless chain. Many thanks! 😁

Been buying quality meat and eating great food for last few years here, and it only gets better! Popped in today for a lunch, Club sandwich was big and very, very tasty, sons breakfast was typically well cooked and flavourful too. Make the effort if you are within 20/30mls, you wont regret it!

Stopped in past for a lazy lunch this week. Good choice on menu, opted for Huntsman platter and my wife choose the cheese and ham toastie. Good hearty portions, lovely atmosphere, great price. Loads of quality products onthe butchers counter. Bought 3 packs of sausages and some bread rolls. Pork & black pudding, pork & apple & spice Spanish. Can't wait to get them on the bbq. Just been to the cafe on the farm and had their firecracker burger, very very nice, a decent amount of heat in sauce also. My wife really enjoyed the quiche.

We ate here after walking in Whixley. The interior is a bit dark but we were seated straight away and the prices were very reasonable. My friend had a toastie that was a bit bland. I had the burger which was brilliant. On a warmer day I think it'd be a great place to eat outside.

First time me and my partner have been, food was brilliant and just what you would expect from a good farm shop. Bacon and the beef was lovely. We will be defiantly coming back soon!

A great selection of fresh local meat and lovely cafe including an outdoor area. Nearly ran over the farm dog sitting in the middle of the road on the way out so be careful 😅

Llamamos después de ver el gran cartel en la A 59, pero la tienda de la granja está en una calle estrecha con la tienda oculta al final por un gran seto que también dificulta el estacionamiento. La tienda de la granja en sí es buena y la carne está recién descuartizada, ya que puedes ver los cadáveres colgando detrás. El café es pequeño y pensamos que el café y la tarta solo promedio. Ideal para ciclistas que pueden aparcar en la parte trasera,

4 of us went for breakfast. We waited for ages for our breakfasts to arrive (nearly an hour they were not that busy when we arrived. - impression was that they were prioritising easier orders. / smaller tables).Everybody's bacon was burnt (we noticed this at a table that was served before we were as well) and the sausages were borderline. Most of the fried egg yolks were broken and two lots looked more like scrambled eggs. We considered asking for replacements but didn't want to wait another hour.No short order cook with any pride would put out food like that. Getting bacon and eggs right is a pretty easy thing to do.The owner asked if I'd enjoyed my meal and the I told him about the burnt food & broken eggs he shrugged his shoulders.To be fair, the price was reasonable and the (unburnt) food quite tasty.

It is signposted off the old Roman Road north and the farm track is of tarmac and wide enough for a nice ride to a small car park. The working farm offers a butcher's a small store of veg and other kitchen staples and cheese. It is a real butcher's - people who know who to prepare different cuts and can recommend the best cut for different dishes. The cafe has a reasonable number of tables inside and a small outdoor area. Service is friendly and efficient and the food is very good quality. I recommend combining the trip to the farm shop with a snack or lunch.

Found this delightful place after seeing a roadside advert, whilst on our way to meet up with friends near York. Place is situated down a long country lane that leads to the farm, and a few other properties about 5 mins from A59, into York. From the outside quite an innocuous looking building, but inside a wonderful Farm Shop and cafe with pleasant outside seating. It was a really warm afternoon, so we went to a small outside dining area, overlooking a paddock with some sheep, however the inside area quite pleasant to. We had a pot of tea for 2, I had a delicious Bacon Sandwich and my wife A Brie, Bacon & caramelised onion toastie; both really good sizes too. Total bill £12.60, excellent value. The shop stockerd with a wide variety of good quality meats from the farm and a good assortment of breads, jams, etc all produced locally. An absolute gem and highly recommended. Excellent friendly service too

A little of the beaten track but serving good unpretentious meals and snacks, in a well stocked farm shop. Well known amongst locals but its custom is spread largely by word of mouth. Worth a stop

We decided to visit tancred after sampling their sausages at york food festival, we were not disappointed.The farm is set just off the a59 in peaceful countryside.we had coffee and cake and then purchased meat from the counter.There was plenty of choice for my wife who has gluten free requirements.The prices were very reasonable.There is a very good menu of home cooked meats.we will be returning for lunch in the future.

Fortuitous find off the A59 between the A1(M) and York. Great breakfast stop - the full English was excellent, especially the sausages and black pudding. Good scrambled eggs too. The only improvement would be better quality bread.

Wanted a decent breakfast to break up a 5 hour journey. Found Tancred Farm Shop through Google Maps. Breakfast was excellent - farm sausage, bacon and amazing black pudding with all the trimmings. Friendly staff and the farm shop is well stocked.

Farm shops can sometimes be a bit disappointing, but Tancred is not one of them. I've been using this establishment for quite a few years and it's great to know that you're buying the freshest of fresh food! The meat is butchered on site, and there is always a terrific selection of cheeses, wines, and fresh from the garden vegetables. Is it more expensive than a supermarket? Well, of course it is, but the quality of the produce justifies that every time.

Well, once again, some fantastic steaks from Tancred- tasty, tender, juicy and delicious. I have eaten very many sausages, and Tancred thin for breakfast are simply the best.

Fabulous home-reared meat. No contest for best pork and grass-fed beef in Yorkshire. Nothing is too much trouble, proper food and brilliant value too.

The service was slow, the scones were old and not made on the premises and when using the loo, I could not believe how dirty the room was. The cleaner had not been in there for weeks, even the artificial flowers were dusty. This is the most untidy farm I have ever experienced, which is a shame after all the investment which has been made.

Having visited the Farm shop a few weeks ago to look at the meats we returned on Saturday to buy a pork joint to cook for Mothers Day. We were not disappointed! The meat was outstanding! A beautiful sized joint for a really good price.

The farm shop and cafe are spot on, and the direct connection with the farm is the stuff of food heroes. We were impressed with the quality, taste, and portion size. The veg all looked good too, and you could tell the yummy coleslaw was home made. All enjoyed right next to the toasty log burner.

Living just up the road, we've meant to call in for some time. The only disappointment is that we hadn't - breakfast was simply outstanding, both taste and value for money.

A very small farm shop with cafe. Makes the most delicious Bacon butty from their own pigs born & reared on the farm. Farm shop with fresh meat (fresh or frozen) is such good value and their home made sausage rolls deserve a mention. Lovely. Friendly staff and good food. Only small but well worth a visit.

Llamamos para comer y todos nuestros sándwiches tostados eran absolutamente bien, esperar un poco, pero eso significa que todo estaba recién preparado. El comedor es un cutre y fracción podría refrescante, sé que es una tienda de granja pero revestimientos de plástico y algunos pintura necesita de la clasificación. La tienda de la granja adjunta pequeña pero interesante, su propio cerdo es muy buena. Vale la pena visitar, pero podría ser mejor.

Mientras que investigar en la zona whixley estábamos buscando un lugar para comer, pero todos los hostales y hoteles había cerrado para que sirve el almuerzo. We ate here last week for the first time, whilst I have no complaints about the quality of the food, what we were unhappy about was, the time taken to get served, we arrived at 14:00, the cafe was half full, and we quickly worked out that there were six people waiting for food orders, all had been already served drinks. We placed our orders, one ham sandwich and one bacon sandwich and had an expectation we'd get our food in 15 to 20 minutes, our coffees came fairly quickly, but we then had to wait 40 minutes for our food to arrive, we had long since finished our coffees before the food arrived, there was no apology for the delay so we presumed this was the normal level of service. All I can say is I'm glad we didn't arrive at peak times.

Soy un habitual aquí y era escéptico en cuanto a lo del día abierto podría ofrecer. Sin embargo, como siempre la familia hullah no me decepcionó. Un sendero fue diseñada por la granja con la oportunidad de ver todos los animales en la granja, no sólo los que normalmente visible fuera de la tienda de la granja. Hablamos con orgullo Dean Lincoln ganado Rojo sobre su y era maravilloso ver su pasión y entusiasmo por su ganado. Otros miembros de la familia rebosa entusiasmo sobre el ganado dentro de la granja. El tiempo la noche anterior también había hecho la granja rezuman de barro, pero armado con botas nos fuimos a disfrutar de un paseo por la granja que había sido claramente diseñada con flechas. Una vez lejos del edificio principal s marinas condiciones estaban muy bien y disfrutamos de la fauna silvestre incluyendo buzzards, conejos, cornudas y mariposas. El evento fue recaudar fondos para la caridad y María estaba sirviendo sandwiches que maravilloso hog roast eran gratis, pero las donaciones a la investigación del cáncer se apreció en lugar del pago.

I met the lovely family behind Tancred Farm at a food fair. My husband and I were blown away by the gorgeous Sirloin steaks we then had for dinner that evening! Fantastic quality meat and even lovelier service. It is always nice to be able to endorse such a wonderful family run business!

Visited Tancred for the. second time and was not disappointed. All staff very helpful, I am coeliac and they always go the extra mile to deliver an excellent brunch. I thought I was getting a gluten free sausage sandwich but it turned out as a sausage and bacon roll complete with crisps, salad, coleslaw it was devine. My wife had the huntsmans which was equally impressive. It was the price of two drinks and pieces of cake in other establishments we have visited. We will be returning. Thanks to the staff.

We've visited a few times for local food products and have never been disappointed. They have a good range of meats from local producers and the shop is spotless. The sausages are particularly good here.

Had a very tasty full breakfast (marvellous bacon) a few weeks ago; the only downsides were the lack of heating in the cafe, and the state of the lane road surface up to the place, which is far from smooth.Still, you should not be put-off, as the quality of produce and service is excellent, and well worth finding this well-run cafe and farm shop.The butcher is happy to make sausages to your specification with a few days notice - he prepared us some fine Lincolnshire to take away.Free top-ups of hot water for the tea might be a good idea as well - they should offer, as by the time a breakfast arrives there's no drink to go with it!

We have been to Tancred Farm shop and cafe quite a number of times now and have always been served the most delicious food, this week was full breakfast and a BLT with two Lattes (all excellent).We also buy the bacon bits and sausages which are extremely good both in value and taste. This week I also purchased dogs biscuits, which my pets relished.When we arrived this Sunday we were wet through from cycling but we were made most welcome and we utilised the log fire to dry out a bit!!(Only downside is the loo, I wish it was just a bit cleaner.)other than that I love the place and would recomend anyone to visit

I've driven past this place for a couple of years always meaning to go. Today we didA farm shop with a cafe - nothing new there - but nicely laid out good selection of shelf produce as well as fresh meats cooked etc and very friendly staffWe had a couple of sausage rolls which much count as potentially the best I've ever tasted and only £1 (and big!). Nice mugs of coffee tooI'll be back.
