Stopped for a coffee and had to try the cake as it looked so good - it was possibly the best chocolate cake I’ve ever had. It had a texture and taste more like a chocolate ganache - amazing. Great coffee and really friendly service too.

Friendly, welcoming, good views and exceptional breakfast. Been twice this week and both times were just the same, really good food and terrific value. Seen a review of poor sausages, they must have changed supplier because sausages are now very good as is everything.

Called in to The Sandgate today for dinner with my partner and our son. As it was a warm day the front of the café was open providing a very Mediterranean feel to the café. We ordered Afternoon Tea and a Ploughmans Lunch to share between the 3 of us (my son is only 4) and we were all incredibly happy with the quality and portions that we got. We had to prompt the serving staff a few times for the extra plate we asked for, cutlery, and the cakes for the afternoon tea and the tables were too small for the chairs, meaning that we could not fit the table properly however even with these minor faults I think anything less than 4 out of 5 would be unfair due to the quality of the food. The whole meal (including drinks) came to less than £18 and it kept us full for the rest of the day exploring the local area and beach.

Visited on Mother’s Day with my husband & 2 children. Inside was a bit cramped so we sat outside when a table became free. I’d had a large breakfast so wasn’t overly hungry so ordered a cheese jacket. Full of cheese & a nice little side salad however i do not know what had happened to the potato! A very off putting brown colour inside and the skin was burnt but not even crispy more soggy and just awful! Nobody came to ask how our meals were. Then to top it off just as I’d finished the cheese & salad I found a small black hair on the plate! Eeeeew just awful. I would like to add that my husband & kids all enjoyed their meals but whether my jacket had been cooked previously and reheated a few times I’m not sure but it was truly awful. A shame as it’s a lovely little place with a nice view.

Looked a really nice place with a good view that's where it ends I'm pretty sure sausages like that should be illegal and that's just to start it was like tasteless mush and we ordered a bacon sandwich too great if you like raw fat even the currant teacake was bad the best bit was my cup of tea and I can't understand why it took nearly 40 minutes for our food to come I never leave a review but I feel like I should so other people don't have to insult there body and taste buds the way we did

We visited this café for an early evening meal, the food is all freshly prepared, tasted fantastic and the portions are very generous as well. The staff were very friendly and gave us a little bit of food for our dog. Highly recommended.

I popped in to this cafe for coffee and cake. Other customers were having meals, which looked like generous servings. On the menu were options such as burgers, there was also a board with ‘specials’ on. There are tables outside, however the day I visited it was too cold to sit outside. Even from inside you get a partial view of the harbour. The cafe is very clean.

Set back from the seafront, this small cafe still has a great view over the bay. A calm and relaxing place for a coffee or a snack.

Called in this afternoon for lunch. Both had the burger meal with a latte. Couldn’t fault the service or the food at all. Homemade burgers and ‘proper chips’ which were tasty and freshly cooked. Was great to people watch and see the sea whilst eating too. As others have said, this is a hidden gem just set back from the sea front. Was our first visit, but we will definitely be back when next in Scarborough!!

We visited twice during our weekend in Scarborough, once just for coffee and this morning for breakfast. We had the Sandgate breakfast at £5.95. Great value & beautifully cooked breakfast. A very popular spot as they were full but really nice that you can sit out on the small decking at the front if the weather is nice. Friendly team & great chef. Glad we found you :)

Wonderful to be back in Scarborough and to be enjoying my morning espresso at my favourite coffee shop The Sandgate. Haven’t been back in two years but the owners recognised me, now there’s a five star customer experience. The shops opening times 8 am But I was more than happy to adjust my morning walk to fit in. Still offering a beautiful menu and very comfortable surroundings. Would highly recommend! The panorama was from earlier in my walk.

Every time I venture into town, it's usually on a morning, and as such, a delicious coffee is required, while I peruse the daily's to see what's going on in the world. And this is my place of choice.

Great cakes and bread to eat in or take away. Dogs are allowed inside. We had a good lunch. It was very busy, because the food is very good.
