Awesome ale house. Great selection of beers and ciders, plus a couple of non alcoholic beverages (Guinness zero, Koppaberg etc).

We did not eat. But had a lovely evening. Stopped for one drink, and then stayed the evening. Made lovely friends. A great atmosphere

A nice very small pub. Only opens, Thurs, Fri, Sat and Sunday. The Frigate is a nice pint

Utterly terrible. Don't bother falling over accidentally or you will be barred. Owner also discussing weed with his group of mates at a table and was very rude and abusive. This place needs a drug raid as something clearly going on more than serving alcohol

Stumbled across this lovely, quaint bar on our first visit to scarborough. Great quality beers and friendly vibe. Tables outside if needed but you wouldnt want to be drunk coming down the steep pathway 😂. Loved our visit and definitely the best drinks we had on our holiday. Highly recommend the beers with a nice packet of crisps.

Called in 'by accident' when I noticed it a couple of weeks ago. A lovely little bar, really friendly and well run with friendly staff and customers and a really nice 'vibe/feel'. Good range of drinks and a nice spot. Definitely worth visiting. I popped in again and it was just as good.

Nice little pub but let down by the couple who run the place, i ordered some drinks took them to the table and one of the drinks had a small fly in it, so i returned the drink to the bar and told the lady who served me that there was a fly in the drink, whose reply was 'well it must have got in there when i walked back to the table as there are lots of flies around' she never apologised just took the glass off me and poured another one, at that the barman who i assume was her husband said to her 'whats wrong with the drink' and i said there was a fly in it' he then mumbled something to her and continued serving. Very poor customer service indeed and pricey drinks as well, and certainly wont return there again

From what I could make out this is the best pub in Scarborough. Very good ales and lagers and a friendly welcome from staff and regulars for a solo drinker. I came across some shocking pubs in Scarborough and this saved the day

We found this little bar as we were walking around looking for a pint. We popped in for one but ended up staying there the rest of the night. Very friendly bar, friendly staff and customers, lots coming in with their dogs. Definitely will go back next time in Scarborough.

Real friendly staff only when in for drinks but nice little place

Cosy local with a good selection of beers and great service from the very friendly team. Ship-themed decor and a small patio with sea views. The Thursday music quiz night was perfect for drinkers in their prime!

I was passing and stopped for a glass of wine by myself. Such a friendly pub and I ended up staying for the pub quiz. Great put and really lovely, welcoming atmosphere, will definitely be visiting again.

The frigate was a really lucky find. We received a really warm welcome and the atmosphere was just great, everyone chatting to each other even though we were strangers. We really felt like locals.

6 stars. What an amazing little pub! Good selection of beer, cider etc. Great location just off the beaten track by the harbour with a view of the sea. Owners Marie & Den (and Benson the dog) are absolutley lovely and really made our trip a great one. Aslo opening the pub on their day off so we could watch the England game. The locals are very friendly as were all the other people we met in there. The relaxed atmosphere creates a great enviroment were everyone is happy to talk to each other with Maries great music playing in the background. Had a great laugh and I will miss popping in there. Cant wait to visit again in the future.

Cool bar, which is quirky and small. Friendly service good selection of drinks. Near the seafront with outdoor seating. Well worth a visit.

Superb little pub. Definitely my favourite in Scarborough. Allegedly the best pint of Guinness on the east coast. I’d certainly recommend testing that theory here. I tried a few and def best in Scarborough. You’ll certainly leave with a smile on your face.

We wandered into this quite small and cosy pub on a Thursday evening, the quiz was already in progress so we tried to make a swift exit, but they insisted we should stay, join in or not. We ended up having a really lovely evening, everyone was welcoming and friendly - and funny. We didn't do the quiz but we did play Irish Bingo. Give it a try if you're in Scarborough.

We were told about this place by our Host at the Almar and we tried it out and it is a good little bar to try, it is small and cosy but the Beer is great, and you are made welcome as soon as you enter

Popped in for a quick drink stayed for two. Great range of ales affordable prices and realky friendly atmosphere, will defo visit again.

Visited last night with work colleagues. Took part in the quiz great fun. Extremely friendly place. Loved every minute will be back Made my night northern soul part of quiz.

Scarborough's pub of the year. Say no more. Not the biggest but some outside seating. Packaged sandwich and crisps for £3 to help the ale down. Thursday quiz night.

A great pub with unique style. This pub is very small and quaint but had lots of character. The staff are friendly and the beer is good. It is a change from the formulaic pubs in some towns. Worth a visit.

Lovely little local pub with a wide variety of drinks. The staff were extremely friendly and more than happy to allow my husband to sample their real ales before he chose one. The atmosphere was friendly and lively without being overwhelming.

A modern clean bar with a great selection of beer, wines & spirits. Located just off the seafront its an excellent stop over on the way up to the Castle. Or vice versa.

Great service from very friendly staff and the beer is first class. Well worth a visit.

Lovely pub with sea view, very friendly welcome, and excellently kept real ales. Tables outside, a Thursday quiz that comes recommended, and it's also dog friendly. White Rat ale my favourite beer, and is regularly available, so I was well satisfied 😁 And the landlady kindly filled our water bottle before our train journey home. Highly recommended.

A fairly new bar just off the seafront. It has a good selection of draft beers. It's a small hostelry with a couple tables outside.

What a fantastic little place. We went in for the Thursday quiz night which was fun but also we were made very welcome. Really nice staff and atmosphere. We are planning on visiting here on all our next trips to Scarborough.

Wanted a quiet drink in a 'real' pub. No music, just good beer, service and company. Good find will definitely be back.

Small little pub, but friendly service from the lady at the bar, and seems relaxed in here. Football is on the TV, but gracefully not too rowdy or boisterous. The Marmalade Porter ale at 5% abv is a lovely drop. I didn't try any food (if they serve food?), but I only nipped in for an ale.

Fantastic small but excellent place just at bottom of bank near sea front and great real ales at good prices and a good chat.

Went in a couple of times over the weekend - my daughter noticed the mild on the beer board outside.... Which was excellent. 3 good handpump. My mum had coffee. Nothing too much trouble. Excellent staff/owners. Friendly customers too. Top view. And just off the seafront. Highly recommend.

First time in this bar, which is dog friendly, so we took the dog and found it to be really nice inside. Decent selection of beers, at reasonable prices, one being White Rat, very nice! Staff very friendly and generally a very welcoming pub, so much we left and went back again later. It's just off the seafront so if you haven't been, give it a try. Will be back again the next time we visit the area.

What a gem of a place.. small but perfect visited Christmas day made to feel so welcome we went back again boxing day did not disappoint. Lovely local couple hosting. Best bit no one under 18 and its not a café.. oh and be sure to shut the door when you enter or leave.

Nice little bar - plenty of drinks on offer. My lager was a bit float from the way it was poured but the cocktail my wife had was amazing. Local business that’s defo worth visit.

The Frigate is a relatively new bar just back from the harbour off Eastborough. We ended up here a bit by accident as many of the other pubs were closed but liked it so much we went back again. They have a small but good selection of cask ale, a wide range of spirits and a cocktail menu. The landlady was super friendly and helpful and and all in all found it to be a great spot for a drink and a chat. Note that dogs and children are welcome (although on this occasion we were without either!)
