We had a delicious afternoon tea with so much food that we had to ask for take away cartons to take home. The service was good specially Sunny who served is with a smile. I would highly recommend trying this venue. The food being served to other tables looked lovely too so we will probably return to try something different next time.

As Windsor residents we decided to pop into town for a few drinks, we arrived here thinking we would have a cocktail or two but were disappointed with the cocktail menu so ended up having a pint and a vodka & Diet Coke for an outrageous cost of £17.70! I don’t mind paying for drinks but the barman was quite miserable for NYE no atmosphere in the pub so we won’t be going back anytime soon! After drinking in London a few times which can be expensive but the atmosphere and welcoming staff make a big difference!

We sat down for lunch. There was no fish, lasagna, or steak (we were told this after the holiday, since they had first left us 10 L with the list). We got cheeseburgers (good, but small and with pre-frozen fries) and 1 English pie with meat and mash (very very good). Quite expensive especially the burgers for what they offered (18.5 pounds i.e. about 22 euros). We only drank water so the price (£75) was for 4 portions, no starters or salad etc. Atmosphere very nice, a traditional English country pub. Toilets clean, service polite and relatively fast. With a little more organization and a more competitive menu or prices it will reach 4 or 5 stars.

Our first impression was it was a nice looking pub but that is not our experience. Firstly there are so many servers but none that will wait a table. We had to ask someone to clear our table after walking past multiple times. All order needs to be done at the bar. Very inconvenient when you are trying to sit and dine. Then the food! Steak was very tough and sinue ridden. Double chicken burger only had one breast and a sad excuse for what we were told was chicken. The other Burgers had little to no trace of coleslaw’s and sauces as stated on the menu. They were small, dry and bland and far too expensive. Chips were stale and then there was the ‘cheesecake’! The texture somewhat resembled polenta chips- granulated and stale. Not even the children could stomach it. This was by far the most expensive meal we have had and by far the most disappointing. I was with family and didn’t want to say anything but as I was waiting for the other guests at our table I overheard another table complaining about the same thing. I realise you are in a tourist destination but charging these prices for this level of food is robbery. You ruined what was supposed to be a memorable evening and did nothing to refund or compensate us when I pointed it out.

We were in the pub right at the train station at the beginning of December and were given a very friendly welcome. The fish and chips were excellent, the portion was huge and our waitress Sunny was extremely friendly. I can recommend it at any time!

made a booking received an email confirmation saying that my booking is confirmed. However, upon arriving , the server said it’s not found. Usually I don’t have an issue as the system can have issues but there was absolutely a lack of effort in trying to seat us despite showing my confirmation . All he did was offering a table for 3 people for 5 of us. His attitude was very indifferent and appalling . We saw many empty tables and I checked on google on the spot where it showed available seats. Would never ever come back . I did recall coming many years back and wasn’t impressed with the service too. Buck up!

Lovely pub, great food and service

We enjoyed a delightful late lunch after visiting the castle. The service was excellent, with Dee, our waitress, being exceptionally friendly and helpful. The food was also very good and satisfying.

None of us had been here before and I definitely recommend. The Sunday lunch was lovely with unlimited supply of Yorkshire puds, potatoes and gravy!. The staff were amazing, very attentive and helpful. A lovely afternoon and well definitely return!

Get rid of the “suggested tips” on credit card machines this place has decided to adopt! As an American I can tell you that you want to STOP the invasion of this annoying of practice begging for tips into the UK.

That's great, really good staff and food, they have a new member, so nice the Spanish guy, I've already had it served in another restaurant, and I came back for it, it's good to know that now I'll have it every time I have a glass of wine before leaving for London. Recommended Fish and Chips

Came here with the expectations of a lovely hot Sunday roast in the heart of Windsor but unfortunately was disappointed and this has to be one of the worst roasts I have ever had. I ordered the lamb shank roast which was suppose to come with mint red wine gravy . Came with regular gravy. The roast potatoes were straight from a frozen packet and reheated with no seasoning . The carrots and parsnips cold and lifeless with no seasoning. The Yorkshire pudding , rubbish. The chef clearly has no passion or care in what he or she does which is reflected into the roast which was served. The lamb shank tasted like it was cooked in water & every single element on my plate was lacking seasoning and heat . The service was good however I came here for a delicious Sunday roast and left very disappointed.

The only reason ☆☆☆ for the atmosphere is that it was early and some maintenance was in progress. Sunny island credit to the pub, the brewery, and the country. Such a lovely welcoming gentleman. Grest breakfast

Really good pub near to Windsor castle

Lovely meal here last Monday night following a visit to Windsor Castle. Pre booked via their website (very handy) and when we got there were shown straight to our table. Excellent service (thank you Sam & Pawani). Very tasty food, good portion size and good value for money.

Good ambiente atmosphere, not noisy so you can enjoy conversations with ease. We had the Turkey Sunday roast, lamb shank, burger and a kids fish and chips, all were very good portions and very tasty, topped off with desserts. The cheesecake was absolutely amazing. Very good food and would recommend any of the above.

Spent an enjoyable evening on our first visit to The Royal Windsor, was a bit crowded (obviously popular) but we still had a good meal and drinks. Service provided by Naleen was pleasant.

Came in for our daughter’s birthday to have lunch, she specifically wanted a steak, she said it was perfect 👌We were all really happy with the food quality, the surroundings were calm and welcoming. The staff were really lovely, looked after us well, and presented her with a free dessert because it was her birthday. Would definitely recommend!

Sadly not a great experience here for our friends 30th birthday. Having booked a table for 15 on the website - we had been split across 5 separate tables in the rain out of sight of each other to accommodate the football which wasn't ideal. A member of the team then very kindly offered to source us a table inside, however as we were next to the wait here to be seated sign, we were shouted at to get outside as we were blocking the way. A member of our party said we're just waiting for the table to be sorted and then we'll be out of the way - he was instantly barred for "talking back". After 30 minutes of back and forth, and being kicked outside and told he will not be served but the rest of us can come in now, we were finally seated as a group. Once arrived, food was absolutely lovely and is the saving grace to return it to 2 stars, but sadly a sour note put on a 30th birthday by the unnecessary drama and attitudes given to customers here. Avoid if in large groups or clashing with football timings. UPDATE: Had initially removed this review as staff attempted to recover the situation, but after being called out by name and confronted at the table in front of the party by staff I have re-added it. Really not good treatment of customers here.

I had an amazing experience at the Royal Windsor pub! I had a great time with my friends in such a beautiful location, with a stunning view of the castle. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, perfectly blending traditional charm with modern comfort. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, making sure we felt right at home. I especially enjoyed the Aperol Spritz tree, which was both delicious and a fun addition to our evening. The food was also fantastic, particularly the Lamb shank and the drinks selection was top-notch. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a great place to unwind and enjoy good company!

Update to my review: They replied saying thanks for my feedback and look forward to seeing me back soon. Obviously they cant even be bothered reading my review. And no you won't be seeing me or my family back soon...or ever. I am local and have been going to this pub for at least 7 years but on our last visit the quality of the food was pretty average at best with my main course a complete insult to paying customers. Had fish and chips a few time before and it was always done right, crunchy and golden on the outside, juicy and flaky on the inside. This time I was served a dry fish with soggy batter and I have no doubt it was heated in a microwave....same thing we the peas, just shrivelled heated over and over. Complained right away and said I didnt want my fish and chips and to issue the refund and the waiter kept on insisting they bring me another one, obviously cooked fresh but that was too late. Eventually someone from the kitchen came to ask what's wrong with the food and offered a replacement which I refused again and got a refund. Just the fact they thought they could get away with serving that type of food and charge £20 for fish and chips is shocking. The other 4 main dishes we had were just average and overpriced. Pair that with sticky dirty menus and overall service means I'm not stepping foot again in this place.

The food wasn't the best for the price 😕 they must changed hands they had one chap running around. My husband asked for bread and butter with his fish and chips he got toast. Everything you touched was sticky. Not the best place to go.

Don't use their app to order! I was charged twice for my order. The barman, who was helpful throughout, was quick to refund it though. My starters and mains came at the same time which was also blamed on the app. On a sunny day the outside area is really to sit in. All the food we had was nice but nothing spectacular. They have a good selection of draught beers so I'd be more inclined to return for a drink.

We were in the private room. Lovely space and contains a bar but also houses the WC’s and so the group was interrupted by other patrons. A pub steeped in history. Lovely different spots/ areas to sit - each with a different level of detail. Gyoza, bean burger and bruschetta were on offer for the vegetarians. Drinks were mixed up/forgotten afew times.

8,3£ for a pint of Asahi ! If you ever visited Windsor you should know that cellular reception is very weak around train station. It is same in the pub and their “free” wireless service is not working at all. Hence orderig via app is not very convenient. Anyway I was able to install the app and select food-drinks but no table number on the tables so you need to go to bar and ask for it. Not done yet, app does not accept apple pay so I cancelled it and went to bar. Waited for 15 min to order 2 pint and couple of nibbles. Personell at the bar always smiling and serving great. Food is also good but everything is expensive than all the pubs around. Did i mention that a pint of Asahi is 8.3£ !!

I planned a party here for my friend's hen do and it was an absolutely incredible experience! In the planning stages I liaised via email with Samantha Jones who made the entire process easy and straightforward. On the day, all staff were incredibly kind, helpful and attentive throughout. The food was excellent - we ordered the deluxe buffet which was delicious, there was so much food we didn't manage to eat it all! The service was exemplary, Sam made sure we had everything we needed and we felt really looked after. Thank you for making our event so special. I would thoroughly recommend The Royal Windsor and I hope to be back soon! :)

I have been here a few times and it's a lovely relaxing pub with a great outdoor area. I recently came here for a 40th birthday party. We had a section of the pub for the occasion. There was a party food platter with a mix of good food including vegan options. I was told it was good value and hiring is good too. I would recommend this pub for food, drinks and holding a birthday/ events here in Windsor. It is also dog friendly 👍☺️🐶

We have just been to a birthday at the pub an the place is lovely. We had some finger food platters done for the party, including lots of veggie options, and it was delicious and well served. Thank you Sunny for the great evening!

Went there for a friend’s birthday, he got the buffet - burgers were amazing! Both cheese and vegan burgers which tasted really good for once, chicken wings very decent, club sandwiches delicious - and compared to previous management now you barely wait to be served. Good service, great price - we’ll likely try it as sunday lunch!

What a beautiful pub right by Windsor station - a perfect central location and the staff here are incredible. Shout out to the manager Sam and Naleen for sorting us out with the best table and their top tier service. Highly recommend and will visiting every Windsor trip from now on

Nice pub, had lunch which was lush, will definitely go back.

Location is nice but they serve flat beers on tap, extremely pathetic and watery cocktails (in fact the bartender starts to learn how to make a cocktail on the job once you give the order). The food is equally bad and appears and tastes re-heated rather than freshly cooked. And let's not talk about service (or rather a lack of it at all). An avoidable place overall!

Booked a table for 6 for the euros final which incurred a £5 a head deposit (£30). Booked from 7.00-10.30pm outside as we couldn’t book a table inside. Kick off approached and a man with a clipboard approached the table to advise we had not booked the table for 6, only 2 and it was supposed to be inside under a different name. Booking confirmation was presented and we argued that this was not possible as a £30 reservation had been placed (we were also sat at a table with the correct labelled reservation chalk board)- person just shrugged their shoulders as it was not on their clipboard and argued we needed to move. Absolutely disgusting behaviour to customers in front of a busy beer garden. If the £30 deposit didn’t matter then why charge it in the first place?! Although we a not regulars at this pub we visit regularly enough for this experience to have put us off visiting again. Unfriendly and rude. No acknowledgement or apology that they had made an error.

Very busy for the Euro final however the service from Leah behind the bar was very good. She was efficient and attentive and was always smiling and happy to help. The atmosphere was great and the food was quick and tasty. Will recommend to others

The great food and drinks were overshadowed by the sticky menus and probably the grossest washrooms I've ever seen. Sad really because there is a nice charm to the place since it's right beside the castle. And the food was quite good as well as the beer. Could have been a solid 4/5.

Booked for the Euros semi final on Wednesday evening and had to leave a £20 deposit. Spent £275 between 4 of us and paid the bill including. £20 tip. I then asked if the £20 deposit had been taken into account and was told it had not so asked for this to be refunded. The Landord refused and offered £5.95 bottle of fizz (see photo and checked the value online) which we refused. I was promised a call back today after further discussion but nothing heard. Very disappointed after spending a decent amount of money and leaving them a tip for what was self service at the bar….

Over-priced very standard and average pub food plus Pizzas. Didn't try there pizza but would doubt that £17 would be good value. They also have the habit of playing extremely irritating teenage pop music everywhere and in the garden for as long as can well into the evening. It can attract a loud drunken crowd being next door to the train station. However, I did appreciate appreciate very much being able to watch 2 football games simultaneously during the euros.

The all time utterly and completely incompetent staff. Truly the worst service I’ve ever had. Bar none. Avoid at all costs. Forgot 2 meals. Forgot 2 drinks. One drink wrong. Then when we asked them to fix it… they screwed up even more!! Honestly, the man and women serving truly had absolutely no clue whatsoever about what they were doing. They couldn’t understand “1 Guinness and a side of sweet potato fries”. They had forgotten both…. Finally 10 mins later she brought regular fries. We asked again for the Guinness and the sweet potato fries… she brought 2! sweet potato fries and NO Guinness! When I finally went to the bar to get a Guinness and reorder everything they screwed up, I was instantly brought a flat Guinness that had likely been poured 30 minutes ago!

Been to this pub a few times now - great atmosphere with great staff. Sunny in particular took great care of our group - thank you Sunny. Would be good to see some more vegetarian options on the menu please!

Nice pub with award winning pies! Specially liked the chicken and pancetta with creamy sauce. Tried the local ale and it was decent. Very good service frim the staff.

Chips were amazing beer is good, the rest sadly was mediocre. Service was reasonably bad, cleanliness is poor, toilets are very dirty and smelly.

Staff are so rude. Don’t even turn around to speak to you at the bar. When asking for a straw acts as if I’ve asked for the world. Terrible service

An incredible location with direct views of Windsor Castle. Friendly and efficient service with a nice atmosphere at the pub. The food is rather expensive (£15-25 a dish) whilst being fairly standard pub food, but it was good and there were no complaints. It's still a lot cheaper than some of the other restaurants in Windsor (£25-40 a dish).

Traveled all the way from Florida and this was easily one of the best pubs in Windsor! Mary was amazing, truly made the experience! Very knowledgeable on the menu and was kind enough to help with questions regarding our trip in the UK.

I have walked past this pub several times but never been inside. Me and my partner travelled down from Birmingham for his birthday, for the day and ended up staying the night to watch the fight. As we're not familiar with the local pubs, we didn't know who was showing the fight on Sat night. We walked in randomly and asked, the gentleman that spoke to us (think he was the manager) was absolutely lovely! He was polite, friendly, professional and defo won my loyalty. We got a table, good seats and were taken care of all night! Great staff on site too, especially those working on Saturday night because it was very busy. I will definitely be back every time I visit Windsor! Went to another pub that same day to enquire about the fight, the customer service was awful! If you're like me - someone who adores great customer service, visit The Royal Windsor! From Kim & Danny!

What a fantastic surprise to find this gem right outside Windsor and Eton Central Station. Good atmosphere and excellent service, beautiful terrace out the back with views up to the castle. Highly recommend this either at the start or the end of your day out in Windsor.
