Food was awful, atmosphere was awful and they say it's dog friendly when their dogs kept attacking mine. The place was dirty and had a weird smell.

Cannot comment on the pub itself as it has now closed and is for let.

Always a pleasure, it's very local and yet caterers for visitors with first class atmosphere, information, service and good old fashion hospitality. Food is very good and nothing too much trouble for the staff.

We nearly fell over after being told price of drinks.The same 2 drinks were £3 dearer than the pub at the other end of road.

After being let down else where we moved to this campsite/ pub the owners were there to meet us when we arrived very friendly and approachable. We set up and went to the bar where they have a good stock of beers and wines we didn’t eat however observed the food delivered to the table being of good quality it smelt delicious and the quantities were very generous.The locals we met were very friendly. The facilities on site are spot on, well worth a visit. Definitely a dog and child friendly establishment.prices are very good for this tourist area. The couple running the pub obviously work hard and take pride in what they do. We feel it only fair that we leave an honest and fair good rating. Joe and Mandy retired publicans

Stayed here for one night . Lovely little camp-site and a lovely pub. Owners very friendly sbd nothing is too much trouble. We have lots of food intolerances and they catered for us. The food was so lovely. Will defo be coming back. Thank you .

A family run pub near Gwithian. I stayed here for the campsite. The facilities are clean and everything is available, shower, toilet, chemical waste disposal a small kitchen and the pub for food and drink. The pitches are of a decent size and well maintained. The owners are very accommodating and go out of their way to make you feel welcome. The pub might look a little outdated but with today's energy crisis and the fact the nearby pubs have closed down the village is lucky that this pub has survived.

Out of season visit to the pub and camp site, and I have to say, we couldn't have been happier! The food, showers, customer service, and help was above and beyond what we were used to. Excellent, can't recommend enough.

We pitched our tent for one night on the first leg of our Lands End to John O’Groats cycle after a soaking from a day of torrential rain. Wonderful, friendly welcome from Joanne and Colin and nothing was too much trouble as they settled us onto our pitch, even offering us the use of a number of their picnic tables and chairs for a family barbecue. The proximity of the pub was an added bonus. We would definitely go back.

Absolutely fantastic 2 weeks, could not ask for a more friendly welcome from the owners. Very knowledgable on any requests regarding the area and with beautiful meals served in the evening good company very friendly from the locals in the village who came to the pub we felt welcome throughout our stay. Sorry about the 'holes'

A welcoming and friendly family-run pub, with lovely fresh home-cooked food, at amazingly good value prices, excellent specials, a good selection of drinks, and beer garden with play area. We highly recommend. Update to my previous review: A peaceful small campsite with huge pitches, a fire pit space, and excellent recycling facilities. We will come here again.

Came here to camp for a week at the end of August. Beautiful quiet, well maintained site. The food in the pub was OUTSTANDING!!! If it wasn't so far away (6.5 hours non stop) I would be in here every day of the week!! Would not change anything about it!!!

Dropped inn here the other early evening after a recommendation to visit. Tucked away in what appears like a lovely, untouched village just outside Hayle, you will find this pub. Shock horror! a proper locals pub serving good uncomplicated, reasonably priced food and drink. Feels like stepping back a few years, which is its appeal to me. Well positioned campsite out the back catered for with inexpensive breakfast fare. Long may pubs like this continue to exist for local people and passers-by alike.

Just came home after a week of chilled out,peaceful camping here,the site is basic but very clean,the pub is warm and welcoming and serves some bloody good food! Colin and his crew do a fantastic job here and we're very glad we came.

The entrance didn't really tell you how good the place is, good grass pitch perfect for camping and facilities are very well maintained, some of the cleanest shower room I've been at campsites. Perfectly reasonable price with electric hook up.

Came away feeling sad. This was our honeymoon, when we contacted the site we was told there was a pub with hot meals and local ales, animals and chickens roaming free around your tent or camper…. Untrue! Pub closed!! No food or drinks!! On-site shop closed!! One chicken in a hutch! Hosts on “day off” apparently so very unhelpful. Not the best start to our travelling honeymoon!

Popped in to this pub for a drink ended up booking a birthday party. This place is wonderful, fantastic beer, epic grounds with a lovely camp site that has just won an award and really friendly staff. Can’t wait for our party now.

I visit as much as i can ,the landlord and lady and staff are very friendly people as is the staff. Its a very dog friendly place. Locals are not bad either lol. Food is all homecooked and big and cheap. deserts are yummy lol lovely grounds for camping and pitches. I do love it here they welcome everyone

We’ve been visiting this little gem of a place for a couple of years now, and will continue to regularly. The staff are accommodating and friendly. Nothing is too much! The food is well cooked, the pub is very clean. It’s a wonderful relaxed atmosphere… the only downside is, I can’t guarantee your trousers will do up when you leave!

Visited the other evening and you were closed again. I understand the pub is now up for sale: not a surprise, it pays to stay open!

Came last Sunday for a roast and it was quite nice so returned this week with family. Very disappointed all lukewarm ,cauli cheese completely dried up,Yorkshire’s burnt,such a shame

Amazing food/drink and with great prices! Fantastic Vegan/Vegetarian options as well! Friendly staff and Dog friendly! Two amazing and adorable dogs walking round. Wish I could take them! I took my dog who doesn't get along with dogs but their dogs was curious but very calm and friendly, eventually my dog was able to relax after some time getting use to them. I was so happy as it was his first time for years! 100% recommend.

Had an electric hook up for one night in August 2021. Lovely quiet place, great landlord and landlady at the pub, couldn't do enough for you. Food excellent value for money. Dog friendly, facilities ok.

Stayed in our motor home for one night, great pitch, facilities good, quiet location, pub so friendly, cheap food, lovely hosts. Takeaway breakfast bap only £2 delivered to our pitch. Great site for dogs very dog friendly. Highly recommend.

We had a great stay and great food at a very good rate. We could not highly recommend this place any higher, as the landlord and landlady look after us very well. We will definitely be going back very soon

First of all thanks to the owners for allowing our 2 motorhomes when they only had 1 space left. Absolutely beautiful location. Quiet, calm and peaceful. Lovely field and surrounding area. Close to the stunning Towans beach and St Ives town too. Basic facilities on site but very clean and still the shower was one of best of our trip, hot and powerful for the whole family! Owners were so welcoming and helpful on arrival and throughout our stay. Pub on site with delicious, homecooked food at surprisingly low prices. Very happy campers indeed thanks guys! Highly recommended.

Nice pub. Went here for some food and to watch the euros while down on holiday. Really nice pub food would recommend giving it a visit if you just fancy a nice homely pub and some nice pub food.

Extremely pleased with the place. Friendly and the cheapest I have ever visited in UK pub. But quality if good is above average, which was a great surprise.

Bit of a backwater pub in a one street village on top of a hill. Interior not modernised to the hilt, exterior extremely pleasing to my eye, beer fantastic, (I drink cask ales). Sitting outside was so peaceful, with a live singer inside being accompanied by an over enthusiastic local. The whole place reminds me of Northumberland 1970s. I personally thought it brilliant. I visit way more pubs than virtually anybody, (it is my hobby) and bars of this ilk are my inspiration. ✊

I've just returned from a week's holiday camping at the Royal Standard site. You couldn't have picked a better place to pitch up for my Cornish visit. The site is attached to a pub that does food, everywhere really clean, and quiet after 11pm, electric hook ups available, hot showers, and the owners were so thoughtful and welcoming. I wouldn't hesitate to go back again, it was fantastic xx

I've been here a couple of hours, using the adjoining Campsite, generous plot, ample facilities. Owner met us as we arrived outside the property, fab! I haven't even tried the food in the pub yet they could serve me slop for all I care, I would recommend and I will return. We've had the warmest welcome, the dog is being treated like a little Prince, lovely country traditional community pub and more than reasonable pricing 5 stars!!!🤙

We met some friends there the service was brilliant and the menu was your typical good pub food could not fault it. And they do puddings as well. Lovely atmosphere great hosts.

Had a fantastic few day at the Royal Standard, very warm welcome with great pitch size and friendly hosts. the campsite itself lends itself to families with a large play area and room for the dog to have a run. The food is outstanding and would recommend the Whale and chips. a real warm welcome and will stay again. I could have eaten the cockerel by day 3 though as it gets up really early!!!

Had a lovely two nights staying in a Motorhome behind the free house on the campsite. Was welcomed by staff and the campsite is lovely. Wonderful spot. Chickens, a play area for kids, doggies around. Very handy to have the pub so close. Had a lovely meal the first night - great pub grub and nice drinks. Measures in place to keep safe and hygienic. Thank you!

The couple that run the campsite are amazing and can't do enough for you. We absolutely love it there good facility's, beautiful view, lovely food, great prices, purfect location and even has a little park 😊 we will be visiting for the second time next week and will continue to camp there whenever we visit Cornwall not a bad word to say about the place it's purfect 😊❤️

Good beer and food very friendly pub

What can I say came here last year and loved it, came back again this year and remembered that they do a fillet steak but you have to order in advance so we did. Beautiful cooked just right, staff wonderful made to feel welcome and very safe in these difficult times. Thank you so much for a geart evening.

Extremely friendly local pub. Very clean through out. Had fish and chips which were excellent. Good white wine. Definitely recommend. Will be back.

This is the best pub around they do amazing fun karaoke nights it's always a good laugh and lots of fun. The people who own are amazing always smiling and make you feel at home. There food is so delicious as wel and would definetly recommend this pub to all my friends and family

We love the homely atmosphere. Had a lovely valentines meal & enjoyed 3 games of pool. The dogs are adorable. A place where you can have a quiet meal, a natter, a game of pool or cards etc or watch sport the TV. Something for everyone. We shall be back.

We visit this pub on a regular basis and have always found it to be friendly and cosy. The owners work extremely hard to make the pub welcoming and the food is always excellent and great value. We could go to other pubs in the area but we always treat this as our local and will continue to give them our custom. We love it there!

We visited there tonight the swearing was really bad and I'm not a prude I know football was on but all we wanted was a quiet meal not all the swearing and man shouting at top of hes voice c''' and locals taking about drugs we down on holiday looking for somewhere to buy would not recommend this for families as only 5.30pm

Very friendly pub that welcomes dogs. All food priced at seven pounds. Colin and Jo are doing all the right things to keep this village pub going.

Excellent service made to feel so welcome and the food was lovely.

Stopped for night in campervan. They let us pitch up our trailer tent and awning in beer garden which we had just bought to check all was OK. Very accommodating and welcoming hosts. Very dog friendly our staffy got on great with their dogs. Football pitch at back for dog exercise. Affordable menu.

Arrived for a quiet drink and some food after our long journey to cornwall. Drinks and athmosphere was good, food however was seriously lacking in every way. The menu was very limited four things to choose from, i chose fish and chips the hubby chose chicken pie with chips and peas, im sorry but the food looked like it was thrown on the plate.my fish was nice but couldnt eat the chips as they looked like rejects from mc cain my hubbys pie was dry and burnt. Would not go for food again, but would go for drinks.

Lovely atmosphere in this village pub. Food was nice, nothing amazing or anything but very reasonable for price.

A group of 12 of us pre-booked our lunches before walking in the area. We arrived after the walk and settled into their cosy bar. The meals were excellent value at £7 each. We chose items like lasagne with chips, fish and chips, scampi and chips etc. The service was friendly and efficient and we all enjoyed our meals. They were a perfect size and just what we needed after the walk.

We stayed at this pub on our brit stop travels, we stayed a few nights in the motorhome. Very warm welcome from Joanne & Colin who connected us up to the electric for just a small fee, cheap & affordable but excellent homemade meals, pool table, park outside for the children and big football field out the back. I would definitely recommend a stay if you are travelling around Cornwall. If we're ever in the area again we will be sure to pop in to say Hello!

What a find! In an area dominated by tourism there is a wealth of pubs but mostly serving overblown, over-priced, pretentious menus (as we experienced in St Ives). So how refreshing to find The Royal Standard serving freshly cooked "proper" pub food at very reasonable prices at the time of our visit all mains were £7). All four of our meals were spot-on (in fact my wife said her vegetarian cottage pie was the best ever). We were a little apprehensive when we heard it was darts night but it was a really nice atmosphere and the staff were friendly. Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area.

Best pub around. Friendly staff, great drinks and gorgeous food. There is a lovely garden out back for the kids to play in and even chickens too. The bar is dog friendly and it feels like a real country pub. Will recommend to everyone.

Great pub friendly staff perfect part of cornwall

I stopped here because the pub is a Britstop for Motorhomes. I received a great welcome & was directed to the best place to pitch up. I later went down for food, Joanne is an excellent cook & was a great help with my dietary requirements. They offer a range of main courses all at £7, the quality Cornish Larger ( Korev), is just sub £4 a pint. I had gluten free fish & chips, the cod was nice, the batter was crisp & it was served with home cooked rustic chips with Tartare Sauce. I couldn’t have the peas sadly, but others can. Very relaxed atmosphere extremely dog friendly, pool table big TV a real heart of the village pub in a great location.

Nice people, dogs are welcome, they have three of their own and almost everyone who comes in has their dog with them. All dogs are social. You can eat there for £7, pub food, but it's okay.

Once again, I tried to visit the Royal Standard and found them to be closed. Having visited on several occasions previously and found the pub to be overrun by children, I opted to go for a late evening pint. However, to my dismay it has closed early again. I do hope this doesn’t reflect another family issue as you had last time but I am bitterly disappointed once again. How I wish Andy and Lin hadn’t left this pub

Lovely warm, friendly family run pub. Very child and dog friendly.Moderately priced delicious food and drinks.Parking, lovely big beer garden.Ideal if you're holidaying, only a couple of miles away from Hayle Rowan's and away from overcrowded and impersonal chain pubs and restaurants. Really relaxing and friendly locals too.
