The BOATHOUSE Restaurant in Cornwall, Isles of Scilly

Lunch was so delicious that we went back for take away fish and chips the following evening! Both meals excellent and good value. Friendly and welcoming and lovely spot in the centre of Portscatho. Highly recommended.

All staff were most unwelcoming and unfriendly. Food was ok but on a wet windy Cornish day you would think a bowl of hot tasty soup might be on the specials list if not on the Summer menu. The pate could have done with some sort of garnish even a few salad leaves .

If you want value for money, good portions of real local tasty food, served by really friendly staff. Then visit the ‘Boathouse’ I had the Beer battered fish ‘n’ chips, came with a choice of mushy peas, or garden peas. I washed it down with a good Cornish Atlantic Pale Ale. After that we had to take a walk as we were totally full. My daughter couldn’t actuate all her fish, and we were offered a doggy bag. The owner came to check all was good, and had a lovely chat. We will love to return in the not too distant future.

Visited this cafe for breakfast one morning when in the local area. The food was very nice and reasonably priced too. The staff were very friendly and the cafe itself had a great atmosphere. Would definitely recommend a visit.

I feel like we discovered a gem. Whilst walking along the coastal path towards the hidden hit site we stopped at this lovely cafe. Because it was November it was relatively quiet, I bet it is rammed in the Summer. Seems to be run by lovely people producing great food in simple and smart surroundings. On our first visit we had cakes and drinks and loved it so much we went back again for lunch. Our group of six loved the rocky road, the Christmas scones and the simple lunches. Service was timely and friendly. Give it a go. Thank you.

The ladies here do a great job - very friendly and attentive. We both ordered the chilli which was spot on after a long walk. I would return and also recommend this place. Its is also very dog friendly.

We visited the boathouse with our dog for lunch. The staff were very friendly and lovely with Reggie the dog bringing him biscuits. We both had the special ‘chilli’ for lunch which was very nice. Loved the warm vibe of the place and we would definitely return.

Excellent brunch. Good available until 11.45am. Friendly and quick service. Reasonably priced. Nice ambience. Would highly recommend.

A, lovely place to eat and relax in Portscatho. A really friendly and hospitable team who serve great breakfasts. Dog friendly and welcomed our cat who was on holiday with us. Highly recommended.

Visited for breakfast during our annual visit to Portscatho. Friendly staff, warm welcome and nice atmosphere. Food was excellent. Veggie breakfast and Eggs Benedict both great. Always enjoyed it here. We booked for dinner the following day!

We had intended to go to the Plume of Feathers over the road, but it didn’t inspire with its “food in a box takeaway” vibe. So we popped into the Boathouse instead. Lovely people, interesting wine and beer list, and the food was excellent. Two of us had their fresh crab sandwiches (which came with a good salad and a little cup of fresh tomato soup) and our third had the fish stew, which was generous and delicious. Highly recommended

Popped into the boathouse with my wife for an afternoon cuppa. Great Cornish brew accompanied by some delicious carrot cake. Service was excellent and the ambiance was first class.

I would highly recommend this restaurant. It is the most reasonably priced in the area and I feel that although the menu is simple it does everything well. We had two meals here during our week stay and both were great, a good selection of local beers, fantastic food and delicious desserts. The staff were particularly friendly to our little girl and there is a nice family atmosphere. The goats cheese salad was delicious as were the burgers, overall a little gem!

I have been here countless times since it has opened and have enjoyed every single time. The food and drink is excellent, there is almost always seats available (with outside seating) and the atmosphere is incredible. I do wish that they would bring back some of the old menu items such as the Egg and Bacon Waffles, and the Egg Muffin, but there are so many other amazing options that it doesn't really bother me.

Superb food. Most is homecooked and local, fresh ingredients. The welcome is amazing. Called in last minute.. was found a place outside and then soon after found a place inside! Thoughtful and kind staff. All happy and smiling. Felt very happy ourselves too! Great drinks... all in clean glasses/cups. Pleasant surroundings. Even finished the evening with a chat about old times in Skegness! Had this in common with the server/manager! So good reminiscing! Highly recommend here. The fish stew is spot on! Slightly spicy, warming and fresh! A quality chef special in my opinion. Thanks for letting us sneak in on a busy Saturday. 🙂

The BEST fish and chips! The staff are lovely..friendly, helpful and efficient. Dogs get treats too.

The only thing I got served was cold shoulder. I stood in front of the sign saying ' wait to be seated' the place was empty apart from a table of 4 leaving. A member of staff thought it was more important to clear the table than invite customers in. So I thought I would give it a miss. Very disappointing service.

Very tasty food and the staff were very friendly and welcoming. The menu has a lot of options for vegetarians which was brilliant. The portion sizes were very generous and fulfilling. Highly recommended!

Popped in for lunch after a walk along the coastal path. Window seat overlooking the village square on a very sunny day. Food arrived and wow ! Ham sandwich with salad and chips, the good lady had a buddha bowl. Absolutely fantastic ! All freshly made, quality ingredients. Staff were lovely and up for a laugh ! Excellent little gem of an establishment. Great service. Generous portions at reasonable prices. The fish stew was delightful and the house salad with goats cheese and walnuts was well crafted with a good variety of tasty fresh items.

We called in today after a walk along the coastal path, despite being rather muddy with three soggy dogs, we got a lovely warm welcome from the staff, fresh water for the dogs( and a treat each) and some beautiful tasty food and drinks all served with a smile, a lovely place would highly recommend, we will definitely be back

At first we were sat in the corner but we decided to move because of the noise of the kitchen. We asked if we could put the two tables together by the window and sit there but apparently two more customers can sit there so we had to sit on a bigger table away from the window. I would recommend not telling multiple existing paying customers that they are not as important as two potential single customers. The serving girl, bless her, forgot our order first off and had to come back and ask us again. It was brought to our table by what I think was the owner and it was a very cold experience. No greetings and no other niceties. Our coffee was reasonable and the serving girl pointing us towards the easy exit that was on the flat. I think I'll choose to go somewhere else next time

Good atmosphere and helpful staff. We had a full house beef burger, and fish and chips. We both enjoyed the food and would go back. Didn't get to dessert, but they sounded great. They are dog friendly too - there was enough space for our big lab.

My family and I went to the Boathouse on three different occasions. Twice for breakfast and once for dinner (takeaway). Very friendly service, great food and you can choose to eat inside or outside, depending on how busy it is. The breakfasts were generous portions and the takeaway was excellent. Highly recommended.

Salads are exquisitely prepared, generous and well balanced. The bread with spiced dip and olive oil was an additional layer and complements the dish well. Great service and a charming interior. We drove 15 miles out of our way for this return visit and it was worth it.

Lovely, bright, airy and comfortable venue in the beautiful village of Portscatho. Very friendly, efficient staff along with reasonably priced, tasty food, made dining a very pleasant experience. Had dinner one evening then back for brunch the next day! Cocktails very reasonable and delicious too. Would definitely recommend a visit!

Visited today for breakfast. Really busy but staff were helpful and very pleasant and there was a nice atmosphere . Food was great, everyone enjoyed it and our dogs weren’t left out either with treats for them. A lovely place to start the day.

Early tea for the children, curry and a beer for us needy parents. Fantastic service and a great setting.

Ordered food for takeaway. Got home to find the chips were obviously old, had been refried and were tough. The vegetable curry was extremely bland and had very little spices to it, being was more akin to a watery vegetable stew. The accompanying "naan breads" were doughy, tasteless unrisen pan breads. I don't usually throw food out as a rule but unfortunately the quality was so poor i did on this occassion. Will not be visiting again.

Pretty good fish and chips takeaway service, burger and chips were good also. Bit of a lifesaver as st mawes chip shop closed and everywhere was booked so much appreciated

Food is excellent and good value, staff last year were great, this year good again, lost a star as the 'barman' was disgruntled when we asked to move table away from the bar and it's associated noise and thoroughfare. Making tutty and smirky faces may keep you in a job when staff are hard to find, when you hit your 20's good luck with the shelf stacking fella
