What a great local pub. A buzzing, vibrant atmosphere with a good selection of beer. Well worth a visit if you're in the area.

Stayed in the village for a week and visited the pub quite a few times. It was great to have it on our doorstep at the end of the day. The food was excellent and Dave and his team were really welcoming. On our first night we were treated to a fabulous folk singer, Will, the pub was packed with locals and vistors, creating a great warm atmosphere. X

We went here for a birthday meal whilst we were on holiday. And it was such a lovely experience really friendly staff, food was exceptional. Portions are huge and took no time at all to be served. Also dog friendly which was a bonus, all in all a lovely experience and would go again

A great pub in a good location to serve all of the Lizard very easily. We stayed in one of 2 rooms which was very clean, tidy, comfortable and well equipped with a good size en suite bathroom with a very good shower. We eat in the pub twice and the food was very good and there was also a number of daily specials available. Thanks to Dave and his crew of staff we were very well looked after and had a great stay.

Lovely community pub. Really friendly and the food is great. Proper onion rings and really tasty burger just what we needed after a long drive. They have a Sunday brunch 9am to 11am one Sunday a month. Really lovely breakfast but definitely need to book a table.

Fantastic food! Such a charming little pub with great service. Would absolutely visit again if heading down that way. Plus the chips were quite possibly the best chips I have ever had!

Wife me and our dog visited here twice..food and local beers are very good and you won't be disappointed... They have great live music couple of times a week...tonight they had a ska band who were really good. Unfortunately we had to leave early as off home next early morning..well definitely will be back to check out the great atmosphere of this 16th century pub ..its a bit off the beacon track but worth the visit...

Excellence all round. Sunday lunch was delicious so we went back on the Wednesday for evening meal (22/11/23). Once again, delicious meal and very friendly service. We'll done everyone. 5 star location for us as we were staying 80yards away.

Came in this evening for dinner. Was lively around the bar, which these days is nice to see for a Tuesday night. We both ordered a steak.... when the plates came they were huge!! Definitely ALL the trimmings. Steak was tasty and well cooked, onion rings, tomatoes and the mushroom tasted great. The chips were amazing... looked home made and from good potatoes. Service was prompt and friendly. I liked this place all the more because it just does what it does well, without making a big deal of it. Well done all. Great pub 👌

Seven of us had a wonderful Sunday roast here (four adults & three kids). Food was great, plentiful & very reasonably priced. I didn't have an alcoholic drink, but it looked to be well stocked with a good variety to cater for most, if not all, tastes. Off the beaten track and well worth a visit. Highly recommended.

The very best of burgers. Excellent chips, lovely salad with a wide variety of vegetables and colours all in a lovely dressing, wonderful home made coleslaw and the best quality of beef burger. In a great dog friendly pub with a friendly landlord. Outside seating too. Just perfect and really well worth a visit

Off the beaten track but well worth the effort. I enjoyed two pints of delicious hand pump beer on a brief stop. I was too late for the lunch sitting but apparently it's a very good menu. Friendly people behind the bar. I suggest coming here and supporting a genuine community pub. Cheers

Good food, good atmosphere, good pub! Tried out the new menu, went for all 3 courses and not one disappointed. Had the goats cheese bruschetta, fish of the day and caramel apple pie ...delicious. Hubby had, garlic mushrooms and steak (cooked to perfection!). Waiting staff = efficient and friendly, bar staff the same...no complaints from us. Good to see a local pub run by locals and frequented much the same (all welcome).

Family of four, incl one veggie, all enjoyed. Well kept, clean and a warm atmosphere. 2nd time we’d been. As good the 2nd as it was the first (2 years earlier).

We’ve been married for nearly 45 years so now don’t normally now celebrate St Valentine’s Day but last night we went to The Prince of Wales, Newtown, Helston. What a wonderful experience! Storm Dennis was brewing and it was a wet, windy night out but inside the log burner was roaring and there was a great atmosphere and buzz in this warm, welcoming family pub! We were greeted by the two barmaids/waitresses Rachel and Emily who always give superb service, these two ladies are always welcoming, polite and smiling. There was a beautiful bunch of red roses at the bar and a vase of roses on each of the tables to get even the least romantic person in the mood!Now for the meal! We had the romantic deal! Two rump steaks, triple cooked chips , peas, tomatoes, garlic mushrooms and homemade onion rings, plus a glass of wine of your choice, all for £35!The steak was excellent! The best I’ve had in a restaurant for a long time, cooked to perfection! Melted in the mouth! So tender and tasty! The onion rings are to die for!!! They always need to be on the menu! We couldn’t manage a pudding because we were so full but looking at the options other people had they looked delicious! All in all it was a great night out on a miserable windy night!A big thank you to ALL The Prince of Wales team, you all work so hard and are always so welcoming!

A lovely country pub with excellent food and drink. The staff are friendly and helpful, a good range of beers and spirits you can't go wrong with a visit here.

Visited here for a drink as we were staying nearby. It is very smart yet rustic inside and have a great selection of ales and ciders. Lots of parking and there is a campsite out back and a really nice beer garden.I did not have any food as it was a bit above our price range but it looked really nice when it was coming out. Would visit again for drinks with friends.

A pleasant if not fancy gastropub. We went twice. On Saturday had a nice selection of specials. had a dish of mussels which were great. and not overcooked. then had a baked plaice which was also good. Rather slow on service but we were a large group of 14. We also ate here on Sunday night which had a more limited menu a slight smaller group and was much faster.

Prebooked before starting out on our holidays for Sunday Lunch and glad we did very popular. Lovely Lunch but be prepared to wait awhile as it's so busy.So good we returned following Sunday.

As a local family living near the Prince of Wales we decided to book for burger night, wasn’t disappointed the burgers were amazing the homemade onion rings were outstanding. There was five different burgers to choose from , two types of beef, one chicken a vegetarian spicy bean and a fish burger all served with skinny fries .Glad we booked ,it gets very busy and the atmosphere was buzzing, the staff are very attentive and polite , well done .

We had a meal to remember! Excellent! We both had the John Dory with chorizo mash, it was out of this world! Will certainly be coming back for the next fish night! As usual excellent service from the friendly staff. Would highly recommend

Based on previous visits which were excellent, I have given 3 stars, the reason being that it is advertised as opening at 5.00, we arrived at 5.10 to find the doors locked!

Visited with family for Sunday lunch whilst on holiday recently. (Pre-booked). Excellent food, friendly staff, lovely rural pub in quiet little hamlet.

We ate at the Prince of Wales twice recently on our trip to the Helston area. Both of our meals on both occasions were delicious.

Nice pub. Good food. Good daily specials.

The food was lovely it was a thoroughly enjoyable experience. We had steak and peppercorn sauce and crab starter with chips. Rhubarb and custard pannacotta yummy. Nice lager too korev and an Italian lager and my husband had proper job ipa and loved it. Good price too.

Just 5 minutes from our accommodation. Opens at 5pm but doesn't take food orders before 6pm. Food is well worth the wait. Typical English country pub interior, and plenty of parking plus a pub garden.

Turned up on a Friday evening without booking and they were more than accommodating. Good choice on the menu and the food was excellent, all cooked fresh and any changes you wanted were made. Definitely recommend

We stayed almost opposite to the Prince of Wales and visited for two evening meals. We had 4 excellent dishes over the two nights and two delicious puddings. Good selection of ales/cider.

Happy friendly staff. Visited with family, all of us loved the food. Burger was amazing. Set in beautiful location and pub.

Highlight was the skipping waitress

We hadn't booked, so arrived promptly at 12 midday last Sunday for a roast dinner. They were able to fit us in as long as we ordered straight away. Inside the pub looked lovely and was dog friendly, as it was fairly warm and sunny we decided to sit outside. There are tables and chairs on a gravelled area and also on the grass.

Really nice atmosphere. Sub-£10 menu on Wednesdays. Good food nicely cooked. The triple cooked chips are a bit special!

We ate here twice while staying in a holiday cottage near by and were delighted with the quality of the food and service. Our recommendation would be the linguine with wild garlic pesto and mushrooms. Simple but incredibly tasty.

We had an excellent dinner with friends, food was top quality, the service was good and there is a very good choice of beers and wine. Will be going back very soon.

Evening meal was great (so good we ate there twice in a week) nice atmosphere, very clean and tidy and nice staff.

After reading other reviews of this pub on Tripadvisor we chose this pub to meet a friend for Sunday lunch and it did not disappoint. The staff were friendly and efficient and we were served an excellent roast beef lunch- the woodburner was ablaze and the place had a good atmosphere. We will come back in the summer and sit outside as the garden looked really pleasant. So thanks Tripadvisor reviewers!

Excellent food, lovely place to go for my partners birthday. Excellent service and lovely people.

I had guinea fowl, creamed carrot, potato, kale and purple sprouting. Everything cooked and seasoned to perfection. My husband had fish of the day, so good.... and followed by lemon posset and homemade shortbread biscuit. This is a lovely traditional pub that is hiding an excellent chef....go and discover it for yourself...would compete with the best.

Booked this restaurant considering its rating on TA and location to our place of accommodation. It’s was very warm and inviting and sought our spot close to the fireplace. It’s a very dog friendly pub, decors are what u expect of a country side pub and staff accommodating. And 5/5 for very clean toilets and being wheelie friendly. The food looks good, but the dish I ordered gets a 3/5. It’s a noodle soup dish that used rice noodles and did not give a feeling if of satisfaction. Had it been eggs noodles it would have been a different story.

Having booked in advance, I called here with my family, accompanied by our dog, for Sunday lunch. We were all impressed by the friendly welcome, the quality of the meals and the well-spaced tables in the bar area, where our table was situated. Some of us chose the beef and others pork, both of which were accompanied by a good selection of vegetables and appropriate sauces. My younger daughter chose the fish, which was served with chunky chips and peas. All of the portions were generous, so none of us had the capacity to sample the desserts were were available on the menu. We all thoroughly enjoyed our meals and look forward to eating here again. I certainly recommend the experience.

Good value and really nice food. The staff were really great too.

My husband and I visited last night. We both had the brocolli and Stilton soup to start followed by meatballs and the prawn and crab linguine all superbly cooked, presented and fresh. Yes we did wait for our food but all staff were very friendly, attentive and the food so tasty. We certainly would rather wait for our food to be freshly cooked! Well done to you all top job!
