I cannot comment on the rooms, we only called in for dinner. Parked in the village and walked up to Brimham Rocks. After a nice walk out it was only right that we call into the local public house for a well deserved meal and beer. I will keep it simple... the welcome was polite and friendly, the beer was spot on, the menu, was varied enough, but also not that big to be confusing. The food!!.. perfect!!! We had, Royal oak burger, Hunters Chicken , and slow brazed lamb shank... All meals were fantastic, and for me.. without question some of the best food I have had while out walking in a long time. I will be returning in the future as its well worth a visit.

Lovely comfy cosy village pub with stunning views and delicious food. Loads of choice of both specials and ales, but the best thing about this pub is the fabulous service from the owners. Super friendly, we were made to feel so welcome. We will be back again as soon as we can, thanks for having us 🫶🏻

Don’t be fooled by the look from the outside which is very old looking. inside it’s very warm welcoming and cosy. Called in on spec for an evening meal. A table was made available for us. The staff were friendly and obliging. The food was good and the price was very reasonable indeed.

This is a really traditional ‘local’ that prides its self on fresh, home cooked food in comfy surroundings from friendly staff. Steve and Anna, the owners, are nearly always on duty and take their time to speak to locals and visitors alike. The burgers are particularly good. There is a pool table and an extensive specials board.

This place is fantastic for vegans and veggies! So refreshing to see options in a Yorkshire pub, so many places are so far behind with vegan food - but not The Royal Oak. The food is lovely (especially the desserts!) and the staff are knowledgable and attentive. Will be going back again and again.

Love this pub, hadn’t been in a long time and went back after a walk along the river nidd and it was just as good as we remembered. Really decent portions of home cooked food, lots of choice and tastes great. Defo worth a visit, you won’t leave hungry or disappointed! Only negative is that dogs are not allowed anywhere in the pub which is a shame.

On the recommendation of friends we were staying with we went to the Royal Oak Inn for Sunday lunch. The locals and the staff were welcoming and friendly. Drinks were supplied whilst we waited for the food. Good job we didn’t have starters - the main course roast beef dinner filled the plate! Meat and vegetables cooked to perfection. Our only complaint - there was no room left for the amazing sweet menu! Will be coming back on our next Yorkshire trip. Highly recommended.

We visited here several times during a weeks holiday in the area, for drinks and a meal. What a wonderful local, friendly pub in a lovely area. The meal was absolutely delicious. One of us has a difficult combination of food allergies. This was no problem. One of the owners sat with us as we ordered the meal, and because they cook from basic ingredients, was able to provide a meal to suit. The food was fantastic. This is a brilliant place to visit.

The food was outstanding, and the choice of wines was excellent, when you consider that this pub is ''tucked out of the way'' in the village of Dacre, in the Yorkshire Dales. What a lovely original interior, be it small, but very friendly. It's your proper local, as pubs used to be years ago, yes, I'm 75 this year, so can qualify that statement. Their chips are to die for, but overall the food is just great, and freshly cooked to order. We will 'be back'.

Back again with my wife, her sister and her partner on Wednesday, but this time a big disappointment. No cocktails. We were initially told that they now only do cocktails on Friday and Saturday nights, but later I was given a different story, they said they did not have the ingredients, so who knows, but no cocktails spoilt the night for my wife and her sister. The food we had was also not as good as what we had previously, so will not be back again.

We walked here in changeable weather on Sunday. We had never been before but had prebooked which was very easy. We arrived early but the table was reserved for us. First of all, our greeting and service afterwards was brilliant. Pleasant staff made us feel really welcome. After 4 miles walk to get there, the Ruddgate beer was vey welcome and superb. And then the food. A simply superb Sunday Beef Roast. We don’t nor have puddings but just had to have one! A very enjoyable afternoon and the sun came out too! Historic old pub in this small village near Pately Bridge. Lots of rooms and a little snug. Nice dining area with large windows giving a view over the surrounding countryside.Lots of locals in the bar area who probably help keep the pub going.Staff are friendly and service is good. The food however is very average and the oil in the deep fat fryer needed changing - you could tatse the old fat on the chips.

Such a friendly welcome at this wonderful village pub, and things just got better. We were offered a taster of each beer before we made a selection and really felt like valued customers. A lovely old building overlooking the village green to the front and wonderful via cross the river valley towards Sunmerbridge to the rear. Great choice of beers (mainly Yorkshire) and full range of other drinks, all reasonably priced. Extensive menu and about 20 ‘specials’ also available. My wife chose the baked Brie as a starter while I went for the black pudding and haggis in a peppered sauce. Both were excellent. For main course, my wife thoroughly enjoyed a seafood tagliatelle with garlic bread while I made a great choice with the honey glazed belly pork in cider sauce. The food could not have been better and portions, while not too large, were certainly generous. Not cheap, but great value and not as expensive as most gastropubs in the area. So, great service, great building, great views and fantastic food at a reasonable price. We have a new favourite dining venue only 20 minutes from our home. Highly recommend this place. We will definitely be back.

We visit anchor at whixley on a Saturday for the carvery once every 4 to 6 weeks and have done so for a few years now. It,s always been unbeatable quality BUT today was terrible. The portion of Pork was small and tough and half of what was on my plate was pure tough fat. (See photo) So disappointed never had this before and may give it a miss in a few weeks spread our wings and give somewhere else a go.

This is a large Cafe Nero in a building that was probably previously a bank or something similar. It serves the usual Cafe Nero fare. It is a cheap alternative to Betty's Tea Rooms that is located across the road.

This store has gone so far downhill it's unreal. Visiting on a midweek evening, stock levels were very low throughout - not just fresh foods but many aisles had little on them. The number of lines also seems to have dropped dramatically, with no Schwartz herbs and spices anymore - just the Sainsbury's own brands. The building itself seems to be running into disrepair, with countless badly patched-up areas of flooring throughout the store. The worst thing though is the checkout situation. If you've foolishly decided to get a large trolley to do a proper shop, on an evening you'll be left to fend for yourself and put through your 50+ items with limited space and very little assistance. If you've bought an item with a security tag, you can be waiting up to 10 minutes for a member of staff to be free to remove it after you've paid. I used to view Sainsbury's as the best quality mainstream supermarket after the likes of Waitrose and Booths, but it's no better than Asda these days. This is the last time I do my main shop here.
