A lady with red short hair was looking after us this evening- absolutely spot on, polite, quick, helpful and attentive, thank you so much☺️. We had fish and chips and everything arrived at the tbl hot and fresh tasty and generous portion size... Highly recommend ☺️

Great local pub but welcoming to strangers too. Huge, tasty, food portions, good selection of beers.

Fantastic staff, welcoming, a great stop if on a coastal walk Rye - Hastings. Winchelsea is an interesting place.

We've been here several times before and returned for another lovely lunch yesterday. The weather outside was dreadful but once inside it was very welcoming. The mussels were great and there were plenty of other nice sounding specials to choose from. Helpful and attentive staff and a good pint of Harvey's. Will be back again with the family soon.

A really nice setting, staff very very cheery, and provided a really good service, only thing that let it down for me was the Beer, possibly the worst pint of Harvey’s I have ever had, a few others in a group also commented on how bad it was

Took my Mother and wife for a lunchtime meal following a lovely walk along the sea wall and nature reserve just a few miles away on The Level. Food and Service was fantastic.

This is an absolutely superb pub! There is a very varied menu and excellent quality of locally sourced food. Very welcoming and homely atmosphere, always with a log fire in the colder months. We need to protect and support these wonderful pubs, this one is a real gem! Thoroughly recommend visiting. Tony and Jane

Nice little find, Sunday roast was on point.

Only popped in for a drink on our walk great selection of ales on offer clear and tasty the food (roast dinners looked fabulous will definitely give them a try next time were down this way.

Great pub and so friendly too. Good old pub with amazing food

Pub was quite busy when we arrived at 7.00, bar staff looked like they didn't know who to serve first. Got our table and menus, again staff forgot us, although in line of sight. Both us and the next table had to go to the bar to say we ready to order, as it had been a while. The food was very good, partner had the battered cod and I had a burger. Both nice and hot, presented well and tasty.

Had a delicious meal of minted Romney Marsh lamb and vegetables followed by scrummy sorbets. Main course portions were plentiful (as in quite large), served cleanly and quickly. A lovely evening.

We liked the pub and the food was great but, for us, there were too many dogs

Friendly staff and a nice choice of daily specials. The Portobello mushroom burger was perfect as was the quiche. Highly recommended.

A lovely cosy pub. The real fire was a bonus, and the lager was fab. The menu looked enticing. We highly recommend this pub. Update We recently had a meal here, and it was delicious! I highly recommend the homemade vegetable lasagne and garlic bread! Lager was great, too.

It claims to be a child friendly pub, but doesn’t act as such. After spending a small fortune on a couple of meals and drinks, we were gathering our stuff ready to leave and our 4 year old started to walk around the pub. He wasn’t running around screaming or miss behaving, he might have said “hello” to a few people and like I said was only walking around whilst we were getting ready. The bar manager asked us to stop him as people were enjoying “their nice meals” and didn’t want to be disturbed by him! I was flabbergasted and shocked. If he didn’t want to welcome our kid to the pub he should have said so before we ordered our meals not after we paid. We left feeling shocked, very angry and with a hole in our pockets. Won’t set foot there ever again! Not the kind of attitude you expect from a supposedly “child friendly” pub!

5* food last night for the three of us (our second visit). Excellent menu and quality of food (our guests on both occasions were discriminating eaters and were very pleased with their menu choices). We are very impressed with the restaurant and will be going again!

Sunday roast to really shout about... 1st visit to the Royal Oak Pub today at Pett. We always try somewhere different for a Roast Lunch if we are down near Hastings on a Sunday. We booked a table with ease this morning! Then when we arrived at 1.30pm the carpark was almost empty 😳 2 concerning points!!! Well we needed not to worry the staff were delightful and accommodating and the food was tremendous 👌 I had the roasted loin of pork with apricot and apple stuffing him indoors went for Lamb. Both meals came out crowned with Yorkshire puddings you new your mum had made and the gravy had all the meat juices in from the roasting pan... Roast potatoes, roasted with love not fried off, and the meat was thickly sliced from the joint to order. I could go on but I won't. Hats off to the Chef and kitchen staff for providing what is now the "BEST"Sunday Roast in this neck of the woods...10/10 Beer choice excellent and a proper pub with charming pub garden too boot ✴✴✴✴✴ (It was the jubilee weekend and ever where out in the sticks was quiet)

Booked a table in the restaurant for my parents 50th wedding anniversary and the food and staff were fantastic. The light bites as a starter were all huge portions and the mains were also very large with a huge selection of specials. We can recommend the Thai Curry, the Steak, Scampi, Ham, all the fish on the specials menu, all very reasonably priced with a nice selection of drinks.

Fantastic country pub. Didn't eat this time but previous food excellent. Good outside seating for walkers and dogs. They serve Harveys sussex best bitter at just the right temperature, which is IMAO (and i have alot of experience !) undoubtedly the finest best bitter in the country. And some excellent local sussex made crisps too.

Great pub with lovely garden and we had a fantastic cheese board. Good wine selection and a great local cider on tap.

Lovely traditional pub, frequent beer changes to keep you interested and a very inviting menu chalked up on the board. Sadly, cannot comment on food, we did not eat there but will when we return to the area without question.

Friendly pub and I popped in after a midweek walk to grab a sandwich. Unfortunately there was nearly an hour wait so I didn't order food. But I'd go back to try their Sunday lunch.

Nice english country pub with big open fire place and english cask ales

We were searching for a good pint of Harvey's after a day's bird-watching at Rye Harbour and Pett Level. We gambled on the Royal Oak ... and won! What a lovely pub! The Harvey's Best Bitter (£4.50) was crystal clear and highly refreshing - a great pint. It's a traditional pub with low, wooden-beamed ceilings - very cosy. The staff were welcoming and friendly and the pub seems popular with the locals. We just missed the Sunday serving of food, which ended at 5pm, but there were some free roast potatoes on the counter! Will visit again when in the vicinity.

Had dinner at the Royal Oak after our wedding last week. Robin and his team were fantastic, really looked after all 20 of us, and the food was amazing. Looking forward to visiting again soon

Booked table in advance , when arrived was told will have to wait 40 mins because they had 2 big party of people to serve . When we ordered food which was breaded chicken burger and chips it was well over done chips were very crispy like match sticks and the breaded chicken was well over done had to leave it so dry . Would not recommend won’t be going there again

Gorgeous little pub/restaurant Food was beautiful We had beer battered cod and chips, the lamb kofte, the steak meal and a chicken burger. No complaints, all enjoyed our meals. Service pleasant and reasonable waiting times too

Found this wonderful little country pub when looking for places to eat while staying nearby in Camber. New manager and menu, lots of character and a lovely garden, imagine would also be fab in the colder months with the open fire roaring! Staff very friendly and attentive and the food was superb. We had the homemade pie, the lamb cutlets, and the veggie chilli non carne; each were delicious, hearty, filling and very reasonable prices. Advisable to book in advance to make sure you get a table. Even if you have to drive a little to get there, I promise it's worth it. You definitely need to try this place!

We have just finished our amazing meal at The Royal Oak. We had Calamari and Brie starters, with the Steak Pie and Mussels for main. Side of bread was forgotten but quickly rectified! The food here is the best we have tried in a long time! We were very happy with the level of service. Would love to come again! Thank you very much The Royal Oak.

As a very new set up they did extremely well. . Gravy was really yummy on the roast but all veg needed a little more cooking. Broccoli was hard. Will definitely go back . Service was great 👍 good luck to you all

The Marsh lamb cutlets were cooked to perfection, good, friendly service and rest of the group were very complimentary about the roast lamb & fish n chips meals. Sat outside, we were all, including the dog, made very welcome and looking forward to going back.

This place is run like a well oiled spring service wonderful food fantastic friendly staff highly recommend would definitely go back I recommend you book as it gets very busy however even when busy the service is still excellent

Disastrous, ordered food at 7.10pm, decided at 8 to see why it was taking so long to be told it would be a while longer but they couldn’t say how long......after a little coaxing they said maybe 30 mins. Asked why we were not told about the delay manager said he didn’t know it was going to take so long. Shame they were not honest when we arrived as only one person working in kitchen. We left as felt 30 mins was probably an under estimate.

Great to see the pub reopened under the management of superb landlord Robin Lyons. Looking forward to the kitchen serving food from the 17th of June
