This is by far the best food you can eat, every time we come here we’re so happy with the whole experience. From customer service to food. The food is absolutely amazing, honestly it’s so delicious and the prices and portions are very reasonable. We can never finish eating everything that’s how much food we get. Highly recommend to stop here for lunch or dinner, even for a pint. Thank you for the amazing experience.

Very disappointing service and food. I had the steak burger and supposedly gourmet chips. The burger was very over cooked it was so dry it was difficult to eat and the patty was next to tasteless if it was not for the cheese and bacon on it I would not have been able to taste a thing. They call their chips gourmet, yet I, for the life of me, I could not figure out what made them gourmet they were very, very dry and rubbery and tasteless. I have tasted better microwave chips. My partner had the roast, which she enjoyed, but they seemed to think that it is acceptable to serve deep-fried chicken and pass it off as roasted chicken. The portion sizes were lacking. I will never return for food it was not cheap and was definitely not worth the price or the wait.

Unfortunately our chilli prawn and scallop meal, very expensive, was barely edible. So many chilli's that I had to grab a glass of water and keep sipping for some minutes. I'm sure other meals were much better.

I was passing the Royal Oak in PETTtoday and thought I would stop and have a drink because it was so hot. I had a larger Sandy and then I ordered some food which was a deep fried camembert. I sat in the garden and the young man brought my food out. He was very very good and polite. I also spoke to the governor of the pub after and I must say how clean and helpful I will definitely be going back again David.

Good pub. The Harvey's Best was absolutely spot on. Food was good. Service was really good. My only gripe was being seated in a fire place when there seemed to be plenty of free tables. I wish I had asked to be moved. It would OK for kids but not adults.

Just wonderful! Warm and personable landlord, friendly but efficient service - lovely lady brought the food! - ; wide choice of beers [incl several 0.0 for us, driving!]; and broad, imaginative menu [we arrived as the Specials board was being edited, but e'en so the fish n chips were better even than Whitby!]... It was also a Quiz night, and all-but full with the full spectrum of ages, types - and competences! - and A Good Time Was Evidently Had By All.... Pity property is so expensive - I'd give my [left] arm for a local like this; thankyou!!!

We visited this venue on a very busy Friday night. I want to be very honest about my experience, it was a very chaotic experience here and I wouldn't choose to come here again: that being said, there are some positives which I will share: The good: The food was delicious, portions were generous. There was ample seating for our party. There was no loud music, which made it easy to converse with the family. The decor was dated, but I liked this, it had charm and didn't look modern and tacky. The bad: the parking is on stone chippings, no markings, so the car park was completely full with many cars parked haphazardly. We had to park down the road. The prices were eye-watering, I believe the cheapest option was ham, egg and chips for £16!! It is a very small menu, very limited starters. We had children with us, there was an hour and a half wait for food, thank heavens for free WiFi! The whole place is very snug, once you're seated it is a huge inconvenience to try to leave your seat, I would not recommend this place to parents. The ugly: the food took about an hour and a half to be served, 45 minutes into our wait, 2 members of our party were served, meaning they had completely finished when the rest of the food arrived. We ordered desserts, when they were served the waitress didn't know what any of the items were, nor did we quite frankly. And again, at £8, very steep pricing for some warmed up waffles and a few scoops from a tub of ice cream. I do feel there were certain factors which resulted in a largely negative experience: it was a Friday night, therefore busier. We had kids who were hungry and complaining and we hadn't planned for being there for longer than an hour and a half. They were possibly understaffed as the older waitress was visibly stressed, she even ranted about all the jobs she was having to get done when one of my family members lightheartedly joked about the wait times. Perhaps on a different evening the mishaps wouldn't have occurred. My overall takeaway from the visit was: delicious food but not a good place to bring children and very very pricey.

Haven’t been to this pub in a while, more fool us. Wanted a quick dinner as we were too lazy to cook. We had main courses of gluten free fish and chips and gluten free scallops in cream and bacon sauce. Was absolutely gobsmacked at the quality and size of the portions. So so so good. The fish was a large chunk of delicious cod and the chips were the chunky sumptuous type, I had a salad and not peas to accompany this dish and it was a colourful array of salad veggies so so delicious nothing scrimped. The scallop dish was absolutely sumptuous, huge scallops and I mean huge scallops covered in onions, bacon and cream sauce, it was accompanied by new potatoes and selection of vegetables. A truly magical dish and one I regretted that I had not ordered. All you could hear from our table was the scrape of knives and folks punctuated by the yum, umm and other rapturous noises. We’re so glad we went and will certainly not be strangers. The only drawback was we didn’t have room for dessert. Would also like to mention the relaxed atmosphere and grand welcome from the lovely bar staff. The choice of wine and beer was super.

It claims to be a child friendly pub, but doesn’t act as such. After spending a small fortune on a couple of meals and drinks, we were gathering our stuff ready to leave and our 4 year old started to walk around the pub. He wasn’t running around screaming or miss behaving, he might have said “hello” to a few people and like I said was only walking around whilst we were getting ready. The bar manager asked us to stop him as people were enjoying “their nice meals” and didn’t want to be disturbed by him! I was flabbergasted and shocked. If he didn’t want to welcome our kid to the pub he should have said so before we ordered our meals not after we paid. We left feeling shocked, very angry and with a hole in our pockets. Won’t set foot there ever again! Not the kind of attitude you expect from a supposedly “child friendly” pub!

Sunday roast to really shout about... 1st visit to the Royal Oak Pub today at Pett. We always try somewhere different for a Roast Lunch if we are down near Hastings on a Sunday. We booked a table with ease this morning! Then when we arrived at 1.30pm the carpark was almost empty 😳 2 concerning points!!! Well we needed not to worry the staff were delightful and accommodating and the food was tremendous 👌 I had the roasted loin of pork with apricot and apple stuffing him indoors went for Lamb. Both meals came out crowned with Yorkshire puddings you new your mum had made and the gravy had all the meat juices in from the roasting pan... Roast potatoes, roasted with love not fried off, and the meat was thickly sliced from the joint to order. I could go on but I won't. Hats off to the Chef and kitchen staff for providing what is now the "BEST"Sunday Roast in this neck of the woods...10/10 Beer choice excellent and a proper pub with charming pub garden too boot ✴✴✴✴✴ (It was the jubilee weekend and ever where out in the sticks was quiet)

Last minute decision and so very glad we did! We met with the kids grandparents here and wow, loved it. - plenty of seating inside - seating outside - small play area for kids - the food can be snacks or a full meal - catered and understood really well re our daughters coeliac challenges with food and cross contamination - the breakfast was delicious, even at lunch time - we stayed even longer and then had cakes - the biggest slice of cake I’ve ever seen at the best price (had to box and take home) - lovely staff Of course there is also spa/food market, pots and plants, cards and gifts, furniture for sale and more. We had such a great time. Thank you so much Eve

We use cooden beach regularly as we like the venue but it is very over priced for both food and service and very hit and miss sometimes good sometimes poor usually when you take friends there .We had two large glasses of nice house wine (8.50per glass) we then had an egg mayo sandwhich shared it came with a small salad and that was it for 8.50 used to have coleslaw but no more,no problem as we ordered off the menu and knew what the price was however it stated bar service only but then put a service charge on when queried said had to stand as the food comes from the kitchen ,I think it is a shame as this is a nice venue but is very hit and miss and should not be for the high end price
