Great fun, especially karaoke on Saturday evening.

Food was disappointing for both of us. Unimaginative and dismal. Bar person was cheerful and welcoming.

Lovely friendly pub, delicious food, lovely staff. Definitely will return the next time in Chipping Sodbury. To be recommended.

Ideally located in the centre/high street in Chipping Sodbury. Went here for lunch as you enter it has an old pub feeling with sticky carpet floors. That aside the staff were friendly and escorted us to our table out the back which has a newer, more modern decor. The menu was poor and very limited. Maybe it was a Sunday and the roasts were the main attraction so hence the drop of a star. Otherwise the food was great, we had steak pie, fish bucket and lamb roast. The desserts were also good and the staff were brilliant throughout.

The best food I've had for along time, all 5 said exactly the same I would defo recommend Sunday roast not a massive lover of a roast until I had that.

Did not have food , but the staff were very accommodating, nothing was too much , and the work the staff put in was a pleasure to see. An amazing venue , I was a guest at a wedding .

Booked a table only a few hours prior to visiting online. They responded quickly and confirmed our dog was welcome. We arrived at three and they showed us our table in the bar. Table was fine as I think dogs are probably not allowed in the restaurant section? All I’d say is, the table could have been laid up a bit ‘nicer’ and there wasn’t much atmosphere as it was a bit of an odd time and so probably the lunchtime clients had either left or were in the restaurant section. Good portion size for the meat and vegetables but probably could have had more potatoes. Not sure if Yorkshire puddings were homemade. Overall - yes I’d go again, as it’s local and dogs allowed

Good reasonably priced food. The fact there is a lighter meal option was a bonus. The only negative was the lack of a cows milk alternative.Otherwise very good

Friday night was Karaoke night. Not too busy as Sodbury had something on during the day which might have knackered people out. The pub is friendly, staff friendly. The Karaoke was fun, and my mates blasted out a few oldies which had others in the pub joining in of the chorus. In the words of Arnie, I'll be back.

Good food and good ale. Friendly throughout. You walk in through the door and you walk into a bar. You walk past the bar and get to the beer garden. Thats how a pub should be. Loved it

Mid week lunch stop with a very friendly staff. Had incredible bacon sandwich with mushrooms and chips. Very well cooked, beautifully presented and a great traditional pub vibe. Great to see it still operating when I remember it from my teens over 40 years ago.

Lovely pub, staff friendly. Today England Rugby on and so nice to be able to watch it with other people who like it too. Love it here. Often quieter here but lovely for a rugby watcher. Feel like I'm with friends even though I don't know anyone here

The best Sunday roast (lamb) I've had in a long time. Large portions of meat and more veg than you could eat. And the sticky toffee pudding is so light and absolutely delicious.

We visited the Royal Oak for lunch while in the area, we ordered two cokes which tasted funny but we saw past that and was hopefully that the food was going to be better. We ordered a jacket potato with prawn Marie and hunters chicken. The jacket was dry, and the prawns was warm. The salad it came with was awful. Dried up cucumber, a pile of cress, some grated carrot, a lettuce leaf and a slice of orange on top. Not what I would call a salad if I’m honest. Getting to the hunters chicken it was advertised to come with “chips and peas” it actually came with a handful of skinny fries, and this awful salad again. My partner cut the end and ate it, cut through the middle and noticed it was still pink, on raising it with the man behind the bar he said sorry and took it away and then brought another one out about 25mins later, by which time I had finished my food. We then was sat at the table and what we believe was the cook walked out the kitchen area, she had no chef whites on just a dirty old apron. If I had seen the cook before we wouldn’t of eaten there simple as that. So if you want under cooked chicken here’s the place to go!

Was a nice evening however the loos were not in a great way but the staff were great.

As a local business group we booked the meeting room which was lovely, 24 comfy chairs, very clean and seasonally decorated, great for Christmas parties. We ordered trays of sandwiches which were very filling and tasty. Will be back in the New year for a business breakfast subject to convenient booking dates and times.

Booked us in last minute fantastic food had Carvery lamb was beautiful it was like a home cooked dinner but not at home. Eveyone throughly enjoyed their food and said deffo coming back here. First Class all the way. Excellent value top quality food and plenty.

Can fully recommend the Royal Oak Chipping Sodbury. Had a party of 16+ for dinner Saturday 26th Nov. The food was delicious, piping hot and great value. The service was first class. Thank you for attending and looking after us. Back again next year I’m sure.

We have visited the Royal Oak for Sunday lunch twice in the last few weeks . So impressed by the excellent quality of the food , for me it has regained its reputation for the best roast in the area. The meat was plentiful.and delicious , nice variety of vegetables , a large jug of gravy, everything served nice and hot . So in conclusion if you are looking for a great Sunday lunch try the " Oak "

Lovely food, service and value for money too. The pub is a bit old-fashioned, which may put some people off but has great character. We would eat here again.

Had the mixed Sunday roast today (lamb and beef) which was absolutely banging. The chef clearly takes pride in their cooking and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Go there!

Great music venue, acoustics are very good in the main bar.Always a knowledgeable crowd assembles for the good soloists and bands.Staff very efficient most of the time,interior very pleasant and full of old world charm,not so noticeable when the music is high octane,but that's another story.On the night ,it was the incomparable Chris Archalia doing a solo set without his band mates from Archalia.A drink,good company,great guitar playing and a easy atmosphere,nothing better.

First time here in years and we really enjoyed it! We tried the Thatcher's cloudy lemonade & Orange on tap and they were lush! Really nice to chat to what I assume we're regulars and will definitely be back.

Went for a drink with friends for the first time recently. Atmosphere was good with a good crowd inside. Good beers/ales on tap as well. Area to the left of the bar is a bit of a strange space which could probably do with some work (built in sofas/ rustic tables and chairs). Nonetheless a good solid working country pub.

Honestly, I can't remember having a pub Sunday roast dinner as nice as this one. Everything was just perfect. Cooked just right, good size portions, the choice of veg lovely, and really good cauliflower cheese to go with it. Thanks.

Had a nice lunch here today. Covid secure, and very helpful barman who served at tables. Courage Best was very good. Had Ham egg chips and salad. Loads of ham!! Wife had ham salad, son had chicken curry, all very good. Dog friendly. Will be back!

I went tonight with friends for the first time since they re-opened. The food was stunning, the staff were amazing.. well worth the visit. I would hightly recommend to anyone looking for a nice night out with various dishes. Top Mark's!!!

The wife and I popped in early Bank Holiday evening. It was only for a quick drink but the atmosphere was awful. A large table completely out of control who didn't give a dam about anyone else in the bar. We left within a few minutes.

My partner and I went here for Sunday lunch. Lovely food and great service.

Have been to this restaurant many times in the past and have always received excellent service and food. That was until our recent visit. We asked for the wine list to be told there isn't one, so the waitress told us what was available but no prices . Ok maybe this was our fault for not asking. The wine came but no glasses for us to drink it . Then all the dishes of vegetables and the plates with your meat and other bits on, but no serving spoons. We did ask but by the time they had brought them to the table we had used our own cutlery. Otherwise our food would have been cold. We then asked for a floater coffee only to be told that the person that makes it has gone home. Surely all the staff should be able to make a floater coffee. We then got our bill to find out that a bottle of wine that is usually around £16 was charged £22. We did dispute this but was told by Neil that we should have asked for the prices. No customer service from him at all.we normal leave a £10-£15 tip as you can gather they didn't get any tip on this visit. Also there is no hot water in the toilets and no soap. With everything that's going on with the Corona virus this should'nt happen.Very reluctant to go back after this experience. Although the food is still good. Just need to give the staff more training.

Fabulous large group meal. Quite an accomplishment to serve up meals to such a high standard, so tasty and clearly freshly prepared with the best ingredients for a large number. We left replete and very content, full of Christmas cheer! Thank you too for the excellent and jovial service.

Excellent Sunday lunch. Great atmosphere. Managed to get a table at short notice. Seems to get very busy so probably best to reserve a table. The food we had was excellent, not carvery, but served at the table, with all veggies served separately. We had the normal portion, not the large portion !!!

En general está bien, pero ten cuidado cuando pidas las baguettes con papas fritas que no te engañan con una porción compartida de papas fritas, nos hicieron esto, pero era obvio que era una sola porción, se quejó a la camarera en vano, oh así evitar en el futuro
