Great food, service and choices. Unfortunately one of the meals wasn't very warm and suspect had been sitting around for the second diners meal ( Pie meal not very warm, lamb dish hot). But usually perfect. Love visiting. 1 star removed this visit for one main not hot enough

My partner had chicken liver parfait and I had cheese mushrooms for starter, we both had beef with mash and tender stem broccoli. Negroni to start and two glasses of Chardonnay. Food, lovely tasty, portions a little small. Negronie nice, Chardonnay lacked taste. Overall very good, worth £100.00??

This pub provides delicious food, well presented and quietly and efficiently served. This was my first time here and I was taking my son out for dinner. There was plenty of seating inside and out on a very warm evening. The menu has a lot of choice and it was refreshing to see imaginative dish selection to tempt a wide range of tastes. Prices are not cheap but I felt I had good value for money. If like me you are tall you will need to watch your head because the ceilings in the older part of the premises are very low. Do try here. I don't think you will be disappointed.

Loved the warm welcome from the bar staff, the no rush, but attentive waitress and the food was absolutely wonderful.

Ate lunch here a couple of days ago at 2pm. There were no staff in the bar area and we had to walk into the restaurant to get their attention to order food. The food we had was really nice and the pub is immaculate but the lack of service really did let it down.

We had lunch at the Golden Heart on Tuesday 24th September. We were celebrating an event, and the guy in charge made us feel very welcome and made a fuss over us. Excellent food as always, and at the same price range as the other local restaurants.

Rubbish salad, very poor quality and value food. huge chunks of tomato, very unrefined presentation..totally disappointed with a celebration meal for our 53rd wedding anniversary meal.

Environment was great, food was great, lovely pub. Two small issues - too much salt on the Onion Rings and our dessert order was not processed (bill adjusted accordingly). Overall really enjoyed our visit.

Wanted two items from the lunch menu and neither were available! Had to chose something from the (more expensive!) main menu. Very expensive for lunchtime!! Especially as we only had one drink each!

I have been here a few times, got to say they provide some of the best pub food amongst all the pubs i ve ever been. This is now my standard restaurant to go whenever i have friends and relatives visiting from overseas!! Their Sunday Roast is exceptionally good!!

Had a fantastic birthday dinner at Golden Heart last night. They never disappoint! Food is 5* as always, immaculate presentation and taste amazing. Cozy atmosphere, especially with the log fire. Staff were very accommodating, friendly and polite. And thank you to Callum at the bar who finished our night off with his perfectly made cocktail's. :)

A brilliant evening celebrating our mum's 80th birthday. Thanks to Beth an the team for making it a special evening. They provided a service second to none and was appreciated by all the family.

Place was nearly empty at the time we visited. 3 tables occupied and nobody in the bar. Food was OK but nothing to write home about. Even with a 50% discount on mains it was still expensive for what it was. £11 for a G and T. Overpriced- won't be hurrying back.

Very good food , surprise there is some Asian twist in some dishes , like fried chicken and crispy duck noodles salad . Pork belly is delicious. Food was great with beautiful plating .

We often eat at the Golden Lion as the food is amazing. We visited again recently but had a small issue with my wife’s starter. The manager who I believe is called Stu was very apologetic and offered my wife a complimentary drink as a good will gesture.

Everyone enjoyed their meals which consisted of starters, main course and dessert. However I thought the portion size for the Roast Pork Belly was extremely small compared to other cheaper options and it was a bit stranger to have to pay £6 extra for two small scallops.

Such a shame to be writing this review, I visited last week with my fiancee for a celebratory meal after I was offered a new job - ironically I think this venue needs to be recruiting some new staff. The food is good and the pub/restaurant has a nice vibe but the chef and aesthetics are completely let down by the clueless at best and rude at worst staff! There’s members of staff stood round doing nothing while you have to wait at the bar, on entry with a reservation we were ignored then to be told to sit ourselves down. Drinks take half an hour to come and that with several reminders to the staff. Food comes when they want. No one checks in on you when you have food. You’re left with dirty plates between starters and main courses. It’s just awful. We asked where drinks were to be told “I don’t know” and this was on a night where it seemed quiet! Other customers were also complaining all around us - I would avoid this and go to the white horse in Hambrook instead… we definitely wouldn’t return!

I had a great experience today at the Golden Heart, We were greeted by the Host, Stuart where he explained about we can either sit inside or outside in the beautiful beer garden, order a couple of cocktails which were top notch. Would recommend

Really nice and cosy dog friendly pub. The only thing that lets it down slightly is the food slightly. The side dishes are really nice but the mains have proven a little disappointing on the occasions I have visited. The cocktails are really good so it’s still a great place for a drink and light snack.

Really lovely pub, with delicious food, good service and nice atmopshere. Only giving 4 stars on this occasion, as the booking system didn't work, and because I don't feel they're great for allergies/special diets. The allergens were very clearly labelled on an ipad, but the choices were very limited compared to the main menu, and I had to sign a cross contamination waiver, which I've never had to do elsewhere, and made me feel rather unsafe. The children's vegetarian options were margarita pizza of pasta and tomato sauce - children who are vegetarians can handle much more adventurous food than this, so much daughter was disappointed at the selection, although once we added halloumi fries as a side she was happier.

Fish n chips, smallist portion of rock hard chips .fish was OK full of grease Minted pea puree, well no mint frozen pees theat were mostly smashed up by a 2 year old Not worth the price they charge 7 quid a pint of shandy , 8 for larger not happy

Had a Sunday roast delivered !!! Wow !! Everything was perfect ! Huge yorkshires absolutely spot on . The bread sauce was amazing ! Gravy and the cheese donuts !! Wow !!

Visited with my husband, looking forward to a Sunday roast. We had to wait a while to place our order, but once we did it came out in about five minutes. I ordered pork, well it came out and the piece of belly pork they served me was about half an inch wide and four inches long!! I did complain and the young guy who served us was so apologetic and took it away, I said that I would have the chicken instead. He brought back a large portion of chicken, but unfortunately it wasn’t cooked well, it was still pink. The veg was ok, super huge Yorkshire but roast potatoes weren’t very well cooked. The service was good, but the food was poor. When the bill came they said they had knocked off £10 for the mistake with the pork, which was very kind of them. However, we wouldn’t return for food in a hurry. In addition, the toilets were not clean and in desperate need of redecorating. On the plus side the garden is lovely.

A family lunch to celebrate a 63rd Wedding Anniversary. The staff went above and beyond to make it a special occasion. We were a party of 12 and the food was all served hot and at the same time. Diana was excellent in making sure everyone had everything they needed. Thank you to all the staff.

Family afternoon Sunday roast, wife 2 kids. We had 2 adult roasts and 2 kids meals. Roast were slow to come out. Kids meals were small but all in all was a nice afternoon.

I paid £16 for a small tomato salad with 2 of the main ingredients missing. The description sounded great - the reality very different - really disappointed. There was no coffee or tea available after the meal and the lemon tart was very similar to an M&S version - all in all very overpriced.

Lovely restaurant and friendly staff. We had drinks in the garden and then went in for food in the restaurant. The bar staff were very efficient especially with it being busy because the sun was out. Waitress was attentive and ensured we had everything we needed. Definitely recommend and we will be back!

Was visiting from New Zealand and went out for dinner with friends. It was well worth the 30 hour flight for their fish and chips and amazing service from Max. All of the meals looked great and everyone enjoyed their food. We would definitely recommend the lamb shank, the pie, the fish and chips and all of the desserts. I look forward to future trips and will recommend the Golden Heart to all of my friends in New Zealand.

Over the years been here many times, mainly for evening meals when it has usually been very busy. More recently it has been for lunch and for the last two visits the restaurant has been embarrassingly quiet with perhaps two or three tables occupied. Presumably this may be because of traffic diversions due to the M4 bridge closure. The food is always good, though a bit pricey but the set lunch menu is a good option.

I Have been to the Golden Heart a few times now and have always been happy with the service and the food is amazing. It’s definitely a place to visit.

Visited for a Saturday lunch. The cocktails were so good! I recommend the Cuban swizzle! My partner had the pie and said it was lovely! Will definitely be visiting again and bringing my partners parents next time!

Our server was Diana, she is a star. The Golden Heart lives up to its name with a warm and inviting atmosphere. Service was friendly and efficient, attentive throughout our meal. The food arrived promptly and the team was helpful with anything we needed.

The Golden Heart offers classic premium pub food that hits the spot. Fish and chips were crispy and golden. My bestie Stuart had the sausage and mash from the chef's specials, which was hearty and comforting. For dessert we shared a sticky toffee pudding, which was a standout. Overall food was delicious. well=prepared, and satisfying, making the Golden Heart our regular spot for local comfort food. We were served by Diana and she is the best

The standouts were the Steak and Malbec Pie - flavourful, with tender beef and rich gravy. The menu is a delightful mix of traditional British food. The ambiance is cozy and inviting. My sister and I went for sunday lunch at the golden heart this afternoon. The food was good. We were okay with the prices, but here is the thing being such a nice day we decided to sit outside. Only to discover there is no table service outside. I am paying good money (it’s not particularly cheap in the golden heart). Yet I am expected to que up the bar to order my drinks and food. This is simply not acceptable. In every other county throughout Europe they will serve your table whether you want food or drinks and they serve it with a smile. Golden heart wake up and do your job properly!

I have been to the GH quite a few times and generally enjoy the experience. I must admit though, our steaks on Saturday as part of our wine & dine were a little disappointing. They were extremely fatty and I would have ordered a different dish if I had known this. We did wine & dine some months earlier and we had a chateaubriand steak, this was fabulous and much nicer than what we had yesterday.

Feels like a country pub but only minutes from the centre of Bristol. Excellent food at sensible prices, lov er my ambience and very good service.

We went during the easter break on a tuesday lunch, but we were the only table, not that we minded. The food was really good and service impeccable. I nearly had a heart attack at the cost but its probably because of the amount of people that went.

Food decent enough although the Steak Pie with Malbec I felt was a little bland. Service very good. Atmosphere - incredibly noisy to the point difficult to hear. Large groups seated next to small groups and lots of children. Would be good to separate large groups to a different bit of the pub to be honest as reluctant to come again knowing I might be next to a large group.

Great service and attentive staff. This was a return visit having previously had Sunday lunch, which was fantastic. However the food this visit was sadly average. The cod and chips was especially disappointing: it was on the small side and smelled of ammonia, which apparently is a sign that it’s not fresh. I’ve had much better elsewhere nearby.
