WHY IS OUR HARD EARNED CASH NOT GOOD ENOUGH FOR YOU!! I took my father who’s 85yrs old to Almondsbury garden centre and he wanted to treat me to a cup of tea and cake, he gave me £10 to go and purchase the treat. After placing my order I went to hand over the cash when the cafe assistant told me they don’t take cash! I asked why not and the response was “we just don’t” I said my father doesn’t have a card on him and only uses cash, I asked how would he pay for this treat? The response was “I don’t know but we don’t take cash” Unfortunately I hadn’t a means on me to pay for it so we had to leave the cafe. We then walked around the garden centre and my father chose a number of plants and peat free compost (this was the reason I took him in the first place ) we didn’t think when we got to the check out that his cash would be refused there too! The products he chose added up to £54, we couldn’t believe his cash was refused again! Unfortunately we had to leave the trolly of plants and leave. My father was embarrassed and upset so I took him to another garden centre where they were happy to take his cash. My father only deals with cash, Almondsbury Garden Centre was a favourite place of his (and mine) for my father it’s an enjoyable day out. Thats been taken away from him. He and I are very disappointed and my father is quite upset. M. Welsman

We noticed a distinct lack of care when we visited! Lots of young staff hanging around, plants fallen over and left laying down! We visited on a sunny day with no wind! Carnivorous plants left on a dry plate and no water! You felt that staff were not happy and it showed! A garden centre with no soul and unhappy plants!! I'll stick to my lovely little local centres who take pride in and care for their plants and staff!!

I was really looking forward to my halloumi skewer on Saturday lunchtime, anticipating hit, melting halloumi, chargrilled peppers and onion on a flat bread. What arrived could not have been more different. It was raw, the onion inedible and, the hallumi just really salty. It's a cooking cheese for goodness sake I should have sent it back but I suspect I wouldn't have got far and I was having a nice day out. My Mum did have a lovely cheese and pickle sarnie though, and the cups of tea were nice, so not a total disaster. And my water intake for the day was admirable after all that salt....

Nicely set out, clean with plenty of table space. However, this may be because it is a long walk from the entrance for those that are elderly. Very polite staff but when I commented that my cheese scone was in fact a sweet scone with cheese on top I was told chef would be told. A waste of money & very unpleasant sadly. Savoury scones should contain a small amount of salt & certainly not sugar!

The big yellow thing in the sky was out for a change so I needed an excuse to have my head go red and peel during the week, so off to the garden center we went. Bought a nice shrub, I'd love to give more detail but I was just the ride along for payment purposes. Nicely laid out garden centre. Plants looked in good condition, the bits that looked like they should be green were green, and the bits that looked like they should be colourful came in a nice variety of colours, shades and sizes. All in all a very enjoyable experience.

The cafe in Almondsbury Garden Centre is easy to miss, tucked away as it is at the far, top corner of the site. Worth a visit. Their breakfast, lunch and cakes are all good quality. Service is polite and delivery of food is commendably snappy, even when busy. The back-room chefs turn out good quality food presented to restaurant quality, so they deserve credit for a good job. Costs are quite reasonable. Tables are consistently clean and the whole place looks like it's being run by a professional team.

He continued to say that the Company have decided that if the customer didn't like it the they could go elsewhere!!!!!!!!!. The staff member who helped us pick our new garden furniture was brilliant. She was helpful and patient with us, unfortunately we didn't get her name. Our review would be 5 stars, however we made the mistake of going to the "restaurant" for lunch. The food was overpriced and only average, particularly the £8 children's sausage and chips, which was 1 tiny sausage, a handful of chips, and 3 sticks of pepper. The £9 tuna sandwich with a miniscule amount of tuna wasn't much better. If the food had been half the price we would have been satisfied, as it was we paid restaurant prices for Ikea cafe quality.

I was lied to and totally inconvenienced this day by this lovely garden centre. I started my visit at the cafe, with a cup of coffee and a scotch egg. I asked if it was soft boiled with the yolk slightly runny. And was promised it was. And it was far from it. It was hard boiled which I hate and couldn't eat. The coffee was really nice. So next I went to the checkout with the plants. And the cashier told me CASH ONLY!! 😡( I had the cash to pay ) I didn't have the funds in my bank account only my overdraft to use. I almost left my goodies I spent time choosing, but I really wanted the tree I picked up. So I paid anyway, fuming knowing I would have to go straight to the bank to deposit the cash I had into my bank account to cover what I just spent. It should be against the law to refuse cash, like wth !! . So mad rn. Not sure I'll ever go back just because of that. Ridiculous!!

Really good garden centre. Like all such places it seems really quite pricey, but I think it's generally not much worse than others locally. Usually a very good selection of plants etc. Staff seem usually helpful and knowledgable when you ask for gardening advice. They also do local delivery, which we used a lot in 2020 - really was useful! Went in spring 2024, after a long gap. There's a new cafe (up the top) - looked nice but we didn't have time to try it. Absolutely loads of stock, in terms of plants etc. Good variety of stuff, also pots, trellis, etc etc One annoyance - they only accept their own brand of gift vouchers, not the national ones.

Soup is £8.99, which is more than The Ivy charge I think, so opted for a cheese scone instead. Although the top had melted cheese on it, there was no cheese on inside, just a plain scone. No flavour whatsoever. Disappointing and wouldn't buy again. Coffee nice though. Feel sorry for staff, as they are very pleasant. It's a shame the cafe is at far end (almost) of GC, whereas before it was right by the entrance. Preferred the old cafe, their terrace and the old prices! The flavours and size of portions don't justify the prices & menu a bit old hat. Needs an update & more veggie/vegan dushes. Decor is very old hat & bland too. Hi. After having enjoyed many lovely meals, coffee and cakes in the old cafe I was extremely disappointed to find that it is almost impossible for my parents to push me to the site of the new cafe/restaurant- due to the extremely steep hill. It says on the almondsbury website that mobility scooters are available. I am unable to use these - as are many other disabled people. We will certainly not be visiting again any time soon!!! Another major problem for me is the disabled toilet near the entrance. Once inside it’s fine however it is a nightmare for a disabled person to enter as the door opens out wards blocking the entrance to the men’s toilet!!! Not great. All in all a very very difficult visit. As I said earlier. We will go elsewhere in future and my friends and family will do too!!!! What a shame.

Went to Almondsbury garden center today (14/1/24) to have a look around and have something to eat in the cafe there. The garden center is OK.. the cafe on the other hand is a different story ! What food we had was OK. Four of us went there so ordered 2 full breakfasts, a vegi bap and a gluten free breakfast, well the gluten free one wanted scrambled egg with it as she doesnt like fried egg, got told thats not possible as all food is cooked to order, so asked why its not possible in that case and got told it just isn't... then they didn't have the sausages for it so were going to give extra hash browns, after asking 3 members of staff for them and them still not turning up we couldn't be bothered. The rest of the breakfasts seemed OK until we were leaving and then realised the 2 full breakfasts should have had black pudding with them as well.. this was realised as we were leaving... So to be honest we won't be going back nope would I recommend the cafe there to anyone unless you just want a drink as they maybe able to get that correct !!

Lots of things for Halloween and Christmas in their main shop as well as packed to the brim with small gifts and some of the usual household things. They've moved the cafe to the other end of the garden centre where the fish pond used to be and it's bright with indoor/outdoor seating. A limited menu but great for a snack. This does mean 'running the gauntlet' when it's raining. I went looking for an aerator and was amazed when they didn't have one, after all that's part of the autumn lawn care. Bad oversight by the owners. They seemed to have pushed all the gardening things out of the main building to outdoor buildings with the exception of the indoor plants but still have a large range to choose from.

Ham,egg and chips were nice but my sisters bubble and squeak was dry and she left it. The tea was like dish water, must be cheap tea bags. No colour or taste.Very disappointing. We enjoyed looking round the garden centre but the cafe is letting it down sadly.
