Sunday carvery is superb. I love the way they organise going up to get the carvery. Other carveries should take note as they are usually a “bun fight”. The choice of meat and the huge selection of vegetables is second to none. If you can manage a dessert there is soft whippy ice cream amongst other things. It is extremely busy and I feel it works because these staff know what they are doing. Keep up the good work and staff training. It would be so easy to get it wrong.

Really great food and portion sizes in a beautiful location which fully deserves 4/5. Although, when going on a Sunday, I personally think they overbook the restaurant. We had booked a table for 10 people for my daughter’s birthday. However, the people previously on the table had not finished and were just doing their birthday cake. That left our party of ten standing in the middle of an incredibly busy restaurant for 15 minutes whilst the staff uncomfortably rushed the previous group and boxed up their cake to hurry them out. We were at first told that we had to wait to be called up to the carvery but we sat and watched groups of people come in and go straight up. We waited for 40 minutes and then, when we could finally find a waitress to ask, were told we hadn’t ordered any food yet so would never have been called up! Once we could get the food the queue moved quickly, the selection of food great and the quality - amazing!! What really turned the visit around was the waitress who helped us with our daughter’s birthday cake and bought it out for her singing happy birthday. I’d definitely visit again but would maybe avoid a Sunday!

First the carvery is the best we have ever encountered most generous portions. What was very disappointing was the welcome , my wife and I and a friend stood waiting at the bar for at least 5 minutes while the lady at the bar was in deep conversation with what looked like a long lost friend. My friend is virtually a cripple and has a job standing but to no avail ,I approached her ,reluctantly she came to us and offered a table deep in the dining area. The previous day our friend when booking asked for a table by the carvery for obvious reasons. He declined, but we were seated at a cramped table. You can check your CCTV to verify this. The waiter who served us with our pudding was so courteous, what a difference. It has not put us off the establishment, considered it needed commenting on.

We had heard this was a great carvery, but what an understatement. The meat was beautifully cooked, and the portions were generous. The vegetable selection was simply stunning, all of the veg was fresh, and totally delicious. My favourites had to be the buttery soft whole roast onions (not often you see those) and the red cabbage which reminded me of Christmas, but everything we tried was delicious. The service was brilliant, everyone who spoke to us was friendly and helpful. They were also very organised and there was no standing about waiting for the carvery. Make sure you book as they are very busy, when we were there they were turning people away.

Eldest Daughters birthday ,after being told our table number ,3 or 4 waitresses came to ask if we had ordered drinks ,when they were delivered we chose our food ,2 of us had the carvery ,comparing it to bluebell farm you certainly get a large portion of meat ,but was dry towards end of meal probably shd of gone up for more gravy ,finished our meals and waited for one of the many waitresses to clear our table and ask if we wanted dessert, or another drink, but no one came ,sat for a while then went upto bar to pay before leaving ,good job the carvery is so filling that you don't need dessert, but being a birthday we might have found room my granddaughter would of definitely liked dessert ,it's been a while since we ate there and think it will be a very long while till we visit again x

We took my parents out for Sunday lunch and they offered a carvery , it was great , beautifully cooked , great value for money and very generous with the meat ! It was packed , that’s how good it was ! Families, couples , friends , children , a great place for all . A lovely atmosphere with all the doors open as it was so hot so a lovely breeze drifted in . We ordered our drinks then were informed when it was our turn to go up , all very well organised so no large queues . Friendly staff too . I couldn’t fault this place so would definitely recommend for a great Sunday lunch , they’d nailed it !!

Called in with family for Carvery was my chosen location for ease of use easy parking and accessible good food, lovely atmosphere. The food was as good as it always is plenty for tasty. You always get plenty of meat then never shy with that and I must say, I liked the new system of calling you up by table rather than the usual queue in most Carvery places well done Oak At Broadwas. I think you’ve got it right I’ve never been disappointed here.

2024: HBH First return visit since COVID. Carvery was very good. Chef was on hand to answer my queries regarding allergies. Good choice of vegetables, especially loved the parsnips. Chicken was good, the beef was a little tough for my taste. Overall a great place to eat. 2019: Dropped in for a Friday evening carvery, we did get a table straight away but the pub was very busy so I would recommend booking. Very helpful and knowledgeable re ingredients [dairy allergy], I still had a selection of 5 veggies. Generous with 3 types of meat. Standard Yorkshire puddings. Nice modern pub on the inside of an older renovated country Inn

We came to the Royal oak for their carvery. It was delicious with so much choices and generous portions of meat. Although we were full their puddings were very tempting and delicious. It is worth a stop here. If we had more time would have come back to sample their normal menu as that also looked scrummy!!

Travelling from East Sussex to Bishops Castle, we stopped at The Royal Oak and enjoyed a superb carvery meal. On arrival, we (and our little dog) were welcomed by the friendly staff, given a table close to the carvery helping a less able member of our party. The meal was well presented, freshly made and delicious. We rounded it off with yummy desserts. Well done Royal Oak.

Superb carvery, we visited with extended family (all of us seniors). We all had the £13.50 two course seniors lunchtime special. Three meats to choose from and an array of freshly cooked vegetables. (Carrots, peas, sweetcorn, cauliflower cheese, swede, roast potatoes, new potatoes, garlic sliced potatoes, cabbage). Good choice of desserts; crumble, profiteroles, blondies or ice-cream.

When we’re in the area, my friend and I always try to call for the fantastic carvery here. We’ve been on a number of occasions now and couldn’t agree more that The Royal Oak is worthy of the ‘ultimate carvery’ title! Our last visit was just as good as the first time, with a very generous serving of tender, melt-in-the-mouth meat (beef and gammon for me, beef for my friend) and a great selection of perfectly cooked vegetables. For the quality and portion sizes, I think the price (£15.95 for Sunday carvery) is extremely reasonable. We’ll definitely be back!

Lunchtime slot, food was excellent but service was very poor. Gentleman sitting opposite had the same problems too. Waited for desert menus but never arrived. After 25 mins of waiting I went to the bar and collected myself, another 20 mins passed without any communication from waiting staff. Decided to leave and just pay for the food, spoke to a member of the waiting staff to which my first impression was quite shocked, basically she didn’t want to know claiming they were busy and short staffed. Shocking to say the least.

We normally love coming here, always great food and good play area for the kids but the service today was terrible. Sat at our table for 30 minutes before I had to ask a waiter to come over, we went to the bar to get drinks ourselves, three tables came in after us and were served before us, asked for water 3 times before someone finally brought it over. When I complained they didn’t seem too bothered, just that the orders had been put in wrong, no apology. The food is always good here but felt like a canteen today, no effort with customer service at all and it’s not a cheap carvery on a Sunday, just trying to fill as many tables as possible, has put me off returning for some time.

As carveries go, great. As service goes, dreadful. Moved our party of 16 from a generous table at one end of the pub to a table where we were so squashed we could barely lift our cutlery to eat. And we’re pretty used to squashing up in our house. Mopping around us, blowing the candles out on our table, one sour-faced member of staff, all before 9.30pm. I know hospitality has been flat out this month and it’s tough. But…it was quiet. Such a shame for our one and only Christmas party.

I had visited the Royal Oak on two previous occasions with friends. I was very impressed with my experiences. I decided to bring my wife for her to also experience a meal at the Royal Oak. We were both delighted with our meal here. The building and the restaurant itself provide a a clean, pleasing environment in which to dine, The dining area reflects the character and period of the building We opted for the Christmas carvery with a dessert to follow. The Carvery was superb. A choice of meats including Turkey, Beef, Pork and Gammon. We both chose the Turkey and received generous cuts. It was cooked to perfection. There was a choice of twelve vegetables including roasted potatoes, onions and parsnips. Also available was a variety of sauces and condiments to garnish the meal. Everything was delicious, well cooked and hot. For dessert my wife had Christmas Pudding and I had the the chocolate and ginger cheese cake. We were both served generous portions and both were again delicious. We found all of the staff to be very friendly and helpful. We were asked a couple of times if everything was okay and though we chose to leave a gap before having our second course the waiting staff didn't forget us and checked later to see if we were ready for our dessert. The final part, the bill was very reasonable for the quality, and quantity, of the food and drink consumed. For me, it was a birthday meal and our lunch here was the highlight of the day.

We’ve been coming here for everyone’s birthday now for years. I can’t praise the food enough, and the lovely staff. They are friendly, quick to take your orders, and have always been great at letting us decorate the table and take pictures for us despite being busy. It always makes a lovely visit. The prices are incredibly fair, and the Monday 2 for £20 carvery is a steal. I don’t usually leave reviews, but this place deserves the praise. I’m shocked to see a few negative reviews for them to be honest, in all the years I’ve been going I’ve never once experienced anything of the sort! Thanks Royal Oak, keep up the great work.

6 of us booked here and we're looking forward to it as normally the carvery is good. We booked ahead but when we got there and were shown to our table there was already another family there that had to move which was awkward. We were sat in the lower part and it was so tight people were shimmying passed our chairs holding full dinners and we had no space to move. It was far too cramped and uncomfortable. Food - we queued up and a lot of the meet was the ends. I ended up with just pure cuts of fat off the gammon amongst some of my meat. Our meat was going cold on our plates whilst we stood in the queue waiting to add our vegetables and gravy. Normally all of this tastes lovely but it was poor, not cooked the same and bland. Soggy veg and not a nice taste. Unfortunately we've made the decision all 6 of us, that there are probably better places to go to now where we won't be cramped in like sardines unable to move our elbows and have better quality food.

We were crammed in down the bottom, top apparently fully booked when booking 5 days in advance, service was good, food, below av, chef trying to make ends meet, cutting up the last bit of scrappy meat, daughter chose gammon as the joint was fresh, ended up with all poor quality end and fat, not a good experience and over priced across the board, especially for the quality.

We booked a table as it was a Sunday afternoon. This table (28) was in front of the double doors leading to the patio /outside area. I constantly had staff and various members of the public knocking me as they walked past. The friendly staff tried to rearrange the table, which helped greatly. Some of the staff were clueless as to what was going on in the bar/restaurant...id like to say it was organised chaos...but it wasnt even organised! Young children were allowed to run between tables, screaming and shouting, so if its a nice quiet Sunday lunch you want, you wont find it here. Food was excellent, cooked to perfection but wont be returning.

Having a walk in the area we were looking for a pub lunch and happened to come across the Royal Oak more or less by accident. What a find. The pub is spacious inside as well as having tables outside. The staff are very friendly...

We have been to the Royal Oak many times and we have found the staff to be friendly and sociable. The food a delight and always hot. The atmosphere pre Covid was wonderful but now it's quieter, understandably, we know that many places are like...

Such a good experience from the time we entered, the food & service was excellent. Despite being woefully understaffed Sara & Jo worked their socks off, they were so friendly and helpful. Thanks to the chef & his staff for an outstanding carvery. We shall...

Absolutely disgusting attitude on the server called Sara, we witnessed her forcing a table to leave for another booking after making them wait an hour for a desert menu and hot drinks (which they didn't get nor got the opportunity to look), we also got...

Definitely not greeted with a smile, and agree with other reviews commenting on aimless staff despite long waits. Carvery itself was fine, the people brought the score down drastically! Would not return.

We booked a table for 2.30 and we're just left there. At 3.05 we asked if we could go up for our carvery. We were told ,soon. Eventually went up at 3.15 a wait of 45 mins. Food was good but we nearly left to...

Very nice staff. Food was good. Could do with a better choice of beers, but tied to Marston's so no local beers to choose from. We did visit at a quiet time so can't say what the service would be like at peak times. Overall we were satisfied with service we recieved

Went for carvery (only thing they were serving as a Sunday). Shown to our table and drinks order taken and were told that we would be informed when we would be permitted to collect our carvery. 20 minutes later we were informed we could now collect our carvery - no apology or explanation for the delay. Staffcwandering around with little or no purpose. Suffice to say that we did not have our carvery, paid for our drinks and left. Used to be an excellent place to eat with great service. Not anymore!!!

An excellent pub and so glad it is a long way back to normal and not the “new normal.”We both had the carvery, loved it and would recommend it to everyone. We only have two things which could be improved. Please stop adding spices to the swede, it tastes like cinnamon, and it just doesn’t need it and it makes it taste weird. The other thing is cauliflower cheese. The clues are in the title it’s cauliflower in a cheese sauce not cauliflower in a white roux. If you’re going to cut costs by not including cheese just don’t bother, make it plain cauliflower. We will definitely be back and will always recommend it to anyone who asks but it could just make a few tweaks to make it superb.

We attended today to a very busy restaurant and shown to our table without waiting. The food from the carvery was excellent. The value was excellent and the portions were excellent. If I had to make one comment it would be that we were had to ask 5 different members of staff to either place a drinks , desert or get the bill. Staff should be appointed an area to look after. We will be coming again.

Stayed overnight on the 28-6-2021 in our motorhome. The place is spotless from the car park to the toilets and the staff cannot do enough to help you even to the extent of cooking something off menu to accomodate my wifes down syndrome brother. The beers were top class also ( a bit biased because i love Banks beers) The Hunters chicken we had was absolutely fabulous and it was a tough decision to make as the Carvery looked lush. Will most certainly call again(

Worth £12:95? No More like £8:95 Seemed a bit like organised chaos. Food was nice though. We had a quiet table, it was busier in other areas.

Absolutely shocking service. Pretty much ignored whilst sat in the garden, drinks order forgotten. Staff clearly don’t care and all look miserable. Won’t step foot in the place again.

Our first visit to the Royal Oak was disappointing. The staff gave the impression that we were inconveniencing them. We had to complete a "legal form" to be able to eat, due to covid obviously. But they already had our address and telephone number. We were hidden away in a cold corner which had damaged chairs and no heating, music or decorations. The staff served us (due to covid) + gave us a good portion of meat + vegetables and the food was actually OK. My daughter hadn't even finished eating + they'd bought the dessert menu over + were taking the order! My husband ordered a dessert which was nothing like he ordered when it arrived + I probably would have had a dessert if I hadn't been so rushed. We then had to ask for the bill. Despite the carvery being edible I shall not give my custom again, where there is so many others to support in the area. Very disappointed when you've spent over £100 for lunch.

Wonderful Sunday Lunch. We cannot remember when we have had such an excellent meal out. No ping ping bought in processed food here. Fresh vegetables, beef was to die for, enormous home cooked Yorkshire pudding. The dessert menu looked lovely but we all were too full. Definitely going to be our first restaurant of choice. Thank you to all of the staff, both front and back of house for a lovely meal.

Good large space with plenty of room at the bar. PLenty of chpice on the keg taps. Went here as part of Worcester Music Festival (they were acting as one of the venues) so visited several times over the weekend. Good atmosphere.
