The Anchor in Worcester

Excellent value for money for breakfast, friendly staff and welcoming for our (noisy) dachshund!

The anchor took us to and from Cheltenham races on the Thursday with a breakfast upon arrival, a real bargain and superb service. Breakfast was spot on, my friend can also recommend the meatless breakfast (in-house joke!!) but worth every penny and will be back again.

Family meet up 7 adults 4 children under6. Food was really good,well cooked and generous portions!

Used for a group booking. Lovely separate room.

5 of us went for Mother's day luncheon.......amazing food and sevice......its a great place........go visit and see for yourselves........thank you so much the team you are all fantastic

Big shout out to this place, they helped me organise a little suprise birthday meal for my other half, reserved the specific seats I asked for, cooked an off menu meal for a fussy eater and had no gripes that we took our own birthday cake. All the food was well cooked, tasty and hot with ample portion size and reasonably priced. Special thanks to Emma who sorted things for us. Looking forward to visiting their new venture at the swan.

We booked and used the Boat House for our post funeral wake. The food was delicious and the staff kind, friendly and extremely helpful. Relatives & friends who from all over the country who were visiting Worcester for the first time were suitably impressed with their visit. Good food, plenty of it, went early lunch time so unable to judge atmosphere

Food and service was very good.. Will certainly be returning as seen many items on menu that we would like to try.. not very busy so the longer then expected wait time reduced to a 4 star over a 5.

A belated 'thank you ' for the amazing Summer Party you hosted for my workplace in The Boathouse. Great to have our own bar and outside area. The staff, party food and venue were all amazing. Lovely touch bringing out food boxes at the end of the night so we could take the food home. Needless to say my family have since eaten at The Anchor on numerous occasions since. Many thanks again.

Recently had our work Christmas meal here, food was delicious and arrived quickly, staff were friendly and were happy to change the set menu slightly for the few fussy eaters amongst us! Second Christmas meal here and will definitely return in the future.

Fantastic! Nic & his team hosted our works Christmas dinner, and it was a resounding success thoroughly enjoyed by everyone. Food was excellent, and all served effortlessly and professionally in a way that allowed us all to relax. The Boathouse was a great setting, intimate and festive, and perfect for our private function. We were made to feel very welcome, and nothing was too much trouble. Even when it's was closing time, we were not rushed, but politely allowed to leave at our own pace. Our evening ending with the same friendly and genuinely warm customer service that it began with. Thanks for making our night a great one!

Came for a works Christmas party in the boathouse, which we had to ourselves (24 of us), the food was incredible, the blade of beef was melt-in-the-mouth, and all came out on time and everyone’s order was correct. The boathouse was nice and warm and the bar in there was well stocked. We all had a brilliant night and this is the second time we’ve done a Christmas party here. Each year it gets better and better!

Went here for the first time for our 12 volunteers Christmas get together. Really well organised, great food and service, and really clever sorting out the complicated settling up at the end of the meal. We will definitely return!

A small group of us stopped there on a cold damp afternoon. The bar was quiet but warmed by an open fire. We all chose to drink hot chocolate with marshmallow - no alcohol! For us - we spent a pleasant hour in comfort, even though we spent little time or money there, but it would be good to return. Thank you!

It's really pretty good but was slightly underwhelmed as I recently had Sunday lunch at the Plough (Harbourne) which raised my expectations ..

No hair nets on service staff no Ash trays in smoking area we were going to have a meal but the person found a hair , they told us ,but never told the staff !

Thought we would pop in for lunch on Friday. This place doesn't look much from the outside but we were impressed. Lovely relaxed bar area with comfy seats to the right and a snug and small restaurant to the left. Very nicely decorated. Nice pint of Wainwright beer and we both had the Basin Banger (Lincolnshire sausages and red onion chutney with cheese in ciabatta with salad and chips. This was fabulous and a very generous portion. Highly recommended.

It was just ok. Not bad enough to complain about, but not good enough to want to return for food. It's a shame, because it used to be very good. Had the Prixe Fixe menu. Disappointed that the sea bass skin was soggy, and the potatoes could have done with a bit more cooking. Chips were nice. Ham nothing special.

I had a birthday party in the boat house for 43 people,we had the 3 coarse dinner,the food was exceptional and all delivered piping hot,the staff were very helpful and friendly and professional,I would definitely recommend the anchor Inn.we will be back

Sat down and waited for 25 minutes at a table outside. We asked a young male server if they were still doing breakfast which he said they were. 3 younger members of staff and what appeared to be a manager then walked past and saw us and not one of them offered us a menu or offered to take a drinks order so we left. Appalling lack of service, will not be going back.

We have family meal over all was good just alittle over priced we are in living crisis 9 quid for fish fingers sandwich bit high even for Worcester prices would been nice too if you had bit for kids to do ie colouring service was great apart from they was quite clearly was under staff and comes down to living crisis again your not got many staff on because pay and people who on are doing 3 people jobs just isnt fair put more staff on less time for people to wait but service was great because they doing more then they should

Had a fab breakfast here after a nice walk. Food was really good and the service was first class from Kirsty. She was super attentive and dealt with our somewhat fussy party with grace and humour.

Love this pub 😍 it offers you everything, fabulous food, great atmosphere or just a drink outside watching the boats and tourist's with a drink! We often have a crab sandwich here but with 4 of us fancying the sharing seafood platter we thought we would give it a go, it did not disappointment! 9th September, another visit a another fantastic lunch 😁

I'd there is 2 of you, just go for the shared steak! Generous in portion, beautifully presented and served by energetic staff. Youd be foolish to miss this meal out! X

Always love our local but Rosie was especially wonderful this evening even with our annoying child.

Nice place. Didn't get the food order right. One portion of fries missing, waitress forgot to ask if we required white or granary bread. We returned the steak sandwich as it had cheese on it even though we'd asked for no cheese. The steak ok but a bit chewy. Sorry but wont be rushing back !

This Pub & Kitchen can't be faulted. Lovely Team. Always made to feel very welcome. Great Chef & Kitchen Team. This place has become our favourite place to meet with friends and have a lovely leisurely lunch. Great choice of lager, quality Pinot Grigio. What a lovely afternoon today (2 Sept 23) amazing food (Great Chef - Top man) , great service. Need we say more 10 out of 10. All the hype myself and my wife heard about this place, all their Facebook posts showing amazing seafood and other dishes ……… that was definitely not experienced last night! The menu on offer was fairly standard of any pub with maybe one or two seafood dishes, the food tasted as expected and was certainly nothing special. The anchor is over priced compared to the food they produce, over £75 for 2 mains, 2 desserts and 4 drinks was shocking and they add on a service charge! I shouldn’t have to ask for the service charge to be removed, shouldn’t be there in the first place, I’ll tip if I want to. Not a single member of staff seemed overly bothered by us, while we were served our food in good time, not a single staff member came to check everything was ok, I mean they always ask when I take my kids out to Nando’s! All in all a disappointing experience and certainly won’t be heading back any time soon

I came with a very good friend from work and had a great time in the beer garden 😁🍻🍟my food order was late (mix up /technology problems) but it was definitely worth the wait ☔👏👏😊😋👍

Anyhow, I had the fish stew which had some well-cooked pieces of fish; had lovely prawns but also very chewy & rubbery calamari rings; the sauce itself reminded us more of a few packets of passata poured on top so not recommended. My partners fish and chips were very good but nothing special.

Drinks outside in the sun , lovely pub overlooking the dock for the canal barges . We didn’t eat but had a pint then a G & T , really lovely place . Will re visit if I go to Worcester again

The hake was so good we went back again the following evening, and it was just as good the 2nd time.

Great canal side restaurant and bar, the food here was really nice and the portion size of the starters was excellent, set by the side of the canal the views and atmosphere here is really nice went down on a sunny afternoon and the setting was perfect will most definitely come here again for a pint.staff where friendly and helpful

Amazing food, great staff, lovely place and dog friendly too Was really busy when we arrived , so when we ordered our food , we were warned there could be a 45minute wait. HOWEVER, our food arrived within 20 minutes and was top quality.

Just had a family meal here. The lemon sole was amazing.

First time eating and drinking at this place. I don't know why everyone raves about it. Drinks on tap are very poor, not a great selection at all. The food was terrible. I had fish and chips and was looking forward to it. The fish was very overcooked. Batter was completely burnt to a crisp, and the fish it's self was so hard and dry and really chewy because of this. It was really bland because all the flavour had been sucked out of it. I felt like complaining at the time but honestly just wanted to get out of the place. Will never eat or drink there again. Didn't help that the people we were with ordered before us by quite a few minutes, and yet we got ours first. Place is clearly disorganised, especially when the chefs arrive late. Also, over hearing of the employees telling some other customers that chefs aren't very good and slow as they are not the weekend chefs definitely doesn't fill me with hope. How can such a simple meal be so mess up and burnt. I make it myself at home all the time. I can say I can definitely make better fish and chips

We visited here as a group of 11. We had to pre order as the group was large, but this wasn’t a problem. We had a drink in the bar before we sat down for something to eat. The bar staff were so polite! And there is a lot of choice for wines. The staff found us to sit down promptly which was lovely as we didn’t have to check the table was ready. We sat down, had our order confirmed, a couple of tweaks which were fine. The food came out and we had so many different meals, the food envy was high. The fish and chips came out on a fake sheet of newspaper, a bed of chips with a massive piece of fish on. The burgers were lovely & the roasts looked amazing. Would highly recommend

Delicious Sunday Lunch Meat beautifully cooked and a good selection of fresh vegetables. Generous portions without being ridiculous - we cleared the lot not because we were still hungry it was just too good to waste!

Yep. We’re here again and as usual fantastic quality food. Sadly a few of the drinks we wanted were out of stock but alternatives were fine We had crevettes and oysters to start. Absolutely beautiful. Especially the large meaty fresh oysters with samphire. Mains we had the veal and swordfish specials. Love the place and will always return.

We arranged my sister in laws meal here for her hen night . The food was wonderful , cocktails made fresh and were excellent .Staff all so friendly and helpful . The room looked brilliant and all our requests were catered for , even the menu was done for us . Would truly recommend this place .

Absolutely incredible breakfast, been to all the main ones in Worcester like waylands yard, goodroots, and food and liquor. By far the food here at the anchor was far superior and very good value for the quality and portion sizes compared to the others. 100% will be back!

A friendly Marina side pub serving good food and beer. I had a ribeye steak that was very tender. I also had 2 pints of Boon Doggle although didn’t finish the first pint as it was very cloudy being the last pint from the barrel. Would certainly return.

Group of a dozen cyclists stopped here for lunch. Pre-ordered food which definitely helped. Food was excellent (mostly fish finger sandwiches and BLT with lots of fries), great range of drinks, really good setting next to the Marina, sunny outside area with shelter if needed...

Lovely views, food is lovely, just need more soft drink options. (ice tea was from a syrup) so easy to make this fresh! Most ppl now want healthy fresh drinks!

Friendly and very helpful staff. Harriet is lovely and has a heart of gold and got our dogs some squirty cream in ice cream pots as it was a hot day! I love the atmosphere. I don’t go to the pub very often but when I do I usually come here.

Hi the achore inn Worcester was quite nice place / staff attentive, though so sorry i didn't enjoy the food, experience.... There carbonara had cooks own twist to it, it seemed! which wasn't enjoyable it did not represent what you would class as a traditional carbonara!!! No cream sauce at all it was a bit unusual to say the least, so only eat half it, only because I was so hungry, / and there garlic bread again was a bit of a unusual presentation it did not taste of cheese e garlic bread at all ... the salad came warm !!!! perhaps left near a stove or somewhere around heat in there kitchen, so that was a let down too! In the bar ordering drinks, I ordered a draught beer there was a very strange taste to it, I just couldn't drink it, however the bar lady did offer to not charge me for the draught beer , which was nice her. I'm so sorry, but for the precious money I had to treat myself an / daughter, I would not bother hurrying back. Such. A shame it appears to be very nice place otherwise decor, staff very friendly and attentive they just need to get the food right almost £20pounds for my meal it's upset me.

This pub has SOOOO MUCH potential… sitting in the marina in Worcester… nice outdoor space.. dog friendly…character indoors… converted skittle alley now a function room and an outdoor pizza kitchen. It’s still a popular pub for dog walkers and others wanting an old style pub...

Biggest portion of fish and chips I've seen and very tasty. Salmon also superb and creme brulée very good. Thank you guys! UPDATE - 21.05.2023 - Arrived this afternoon at 1430 with guests for drinks and food to be told "food in the garden only after 3. Then sorry no food being served at all at 1445 after paying for drinks. NEVE"R AGAIN!! Management you have a problem!
