Excellent food and service for a works Christmas dinner. We had a wonderful evening. Great food served hot from lovely staff in a timely fashion. Unbelievable value for money. Couldn’t recommend this place more and wonder why the rating on TripAdvisor isn’t better. Well done everyone thank you.

A huge thanks to everyone at The Anchor for helping us celebrate our wedding! We booked The Boathouse and adjacent outside area and from the very start, everyone was friendly and only too willing to help, even decorating the space for us on the morning of our wedding which was a huge weight off us and definitely made it such a relaxed afternoon / evening. All our guests enjoyed the food and relaxed vibe, plus great drinks! A special mention to Emma, Harriet, and Remi, who are wonderful people and their support meant a huge deal to us - you are true assets to The Anchor and to all the team, the very best for future events. We'll definitely be back for a drink and bite to eat! Dan and Rhianna Levi Burton 👻

Lovely pub with chatty friendly helpful bar and kitchen staff. Good selection of food and drink available. Neat compact rooms ideal for a one nite stay. Hot shower in the morning as well as a full English breakfast served compliments to the chef. Stone oven pizza available as well and the Hawaiian pizza I had was massive. If in the area would definitely stay again. Large beer garden would be ideal in the warmer months.

We have always enjoyed our previous experiences at the Anchor but on this occasion the service from the bar staff was just dreadful. Having arrived slightly earlier than our friends, we ordered drinks, and I asked the bar person what time the kitchen was closing and was informed 8.30-8.45pm. 15 mins later, I ordered some drinks for our friends and again I asked another bar person what time the kitchen was closing and was informed again 8.45pm (the time now was 7.30pm). At 7.55pm we went to the bar to order food and was informed that the kitchen was closed. I mentioned to the member of waiting staff that both bar staff had advised me that the kitchen was open until 8.45pm. We both checked with the bar staff who I had initially spoken to, and they both denied what they had said and effectively called me a liar. I appreciate that things can change but being told that they hadn’t spoken to me in the last hour was just completely incorrect and out of order. It’s a shame as the pub is great and in a lovely location, but on this occasion very poor customer service. It was also the start of the bank holiday and even more surprising that the kitchen was closed before 8pm. We had did have a nice takeaway on the way home.

I regret having to write this negative report as most of mine over the years have been complimentary. It was a hot day and we wanted a pub with a beer garden. I'm afraid I would not describe their outside space a beer garden. More like a concreted area with benches more suitable to a prisoners recreational area. NO chairs. On the drinks options they wanted £25 for a bottle of Pinot Gricio ( £9.95 @Wetherspoons ) so we opted for a large glass of wine and a real ale pint. There were no dark malted beers just HPA , a very light lager type beer with no guts. That came to over £13. Total robbery for the surroundings on offer. Sorry, but cannot recommend this place.

A lovely little pub and food place. I was really pleased with my visit here. The staff were absolutely lovely and the food was outstanding. Dog friendly pub outside so good to see the cute doggos. I've been here twice now and both times were superb. Very easy to find as it's just down diglis road and by all the boats in the harbour. Such a pretty view if you sit out in the garden at the back. I prefer the outside as it is more spacious and was very chill. I loved the atmosphere out there. A little bit loud and cramped inside. Kitchen opens at 5.30 for tea time. It also opens at 10am and closes at 2 for lunch. I had the gammon the first time and then the burger and they were so good. 😍 Definitely would like to come here again. Really chill pub and amazing food.

Sadly, this used to be a great place to eat (it's our local and we've been coming for years) but the standard of food is just not very good anymore. The last few times we've eaten here, something has not been right - undercooked ham, fish that had gone off, uncleaned prawns to name just a few. Staffing seems to be an issue too, they try their best but there aren't enough of them. I really hope they get their act together because until they do we won't be eating here again

All the hype myself and my wife heard about this place, all their Facebook posts showing amazing seafood and other dishes ……… that was definitely not experienced last night! The menu on offer was fairly standard of any pub with maybe one or two seafood dishes, the food tasted as expected and was certainly nothing special. The anchor is over priced compared to the food they produce, over £75 for 2 mains, 2 desserts and 4 drinks was shocking and they add on a service charge! I shouldn’t have to ask for the service charge to be removed, shouldn’t be there in the first place, I’ll tip if I want to. Not a single member of staff seemed overly bothered by us, while we were served our food in good time, not a single staff member came to check everything was ok, I mean they always ask when I take my kids out to Nando’s! All in all a disappointing experience and certainly won’t be heading back any time soon

First time eating and drinking at this place. I don't know why everyone raves about it. Drinks on tap are very poor, not a great selection at all. The food was terrible. I had fish and chips and was looking forward to it. The fish was very overcooked. Batter was completely burnt to a crisp, and the fish it's self was so hard and dry and really chewy because of this. It was really bland because all the flavour had been sucked out of it. I felt like complaining at the time but honestly just wanted to get out of the place. Will never eat or drink there again. Didn't help that the people we were with ordered before us by quite a few minutes, and yet we got ours first. Place is clearly disorganised, especially when the chefs arrive late. Also, over hearing of the employees telling some other customers that chefs aren't very good and slow as they are not the weekend chefs definitely doesn't fill me with hope. How can such a simple meal be so mess up and burnt. I make it myself at home all the time. I can say I can definitely make better fish and chips

We visited here as a group of 11. We had to pre order as the group was large, but this wasn’t a problem. We had a drink in the bar before we sat down for something to eat. The bar staff were so polite! And there is a lot of choice for wines. The staff found us to sit down promptly which was lovely as we didn’t have to check the table was ready. We sat down, had our order confirmed, a couple of tweaks which were fine. The food came out and we had so many different meals, the food envy was high. The fish and chips came out on a fake sheet of newspaper, a bed of chips with a massive piece of fish on. The burgers were lovely & the roasts looked amazing. Would highly recommend

Delicious Sunday Lunch Meat beautifully cooked and a good selection of fresh vegetables. Generous portions without being ridiculous - we cleared the lot not because we were still hungry it was just too good to waste!
