The food was lukewarm and tasted terrible. The gravy looked like it had been sitting there since early that morning, with a hard, plasticky residue on top. The roast potatoes were undercooked, hard, and stale—I could barely stick a fork into one. The peas were shriveled and old. The manager was unprofessional, referring to my partner as “mate” while handling the situation. She also mentioned she hadn’t received any other complaints, which I don’t understand why that was relevant to our concern. Given the state of the building, the environment, and the type of people who eat there, it’s clear why there wouldn’t be many complaints—it’s full of the kind of crowd you’d expect to see on a Jeremy Kyle show. Additionally the children’s ice cream parlor was filthy. There were sprinkles scattered across the floor and tabletops and the ice cream toppings were stored in dirty, unappealing containers. The sauces looked disgusting, with dirty, crusted edges. The actual ice cream itself came out of the machine half melted. The whole building is just a mess and looks completely neglected, much like the hillbilly crowd it attracts

Staff are super friendly and it's a nice place for a drink with great value on drink prices. Have had the pizza here twice and it is always really dry - I thought the first was just bad luck but twice is a pattern. Over £10 for it too. Haven't tried the other food yet, but I will give it a go again at some point.

Sue, as always, was welcoming and friendly. We did go not long after opening which is why I've given 3 stars for atmosphere as there were only two other people in there when we arrived but that's not a negative by any means. There was music playing in the background. Food was hot and there was plenty to choose from. You can't go wrong with unlimited cooked breakfast, tea/coffee and toast for less than £7! Parking can sometimes be a bit tricky at busier times but there was plenty today. The ramped entrance and small lift makes disabled access easy.

Absolutely awful and I would be embarrassed if I was running the place, it was just filthy and made me wonder if that is what filth they are happy to let the public see how gross it must be where there is no public access. The hot counter was filthy, there wasn’t a clean mug in sight for the coffee, we had to ask for coffee cups so the staff member must have been aware of the fact that all the ones she put out were disgusting and blamed it on the dishwasher. I refused to eat or drink anything from there because it was just so off putting what was seen as acceptable cleanliness standards- they really weren’t.

Food was gorgeous and our lovely waitress Debbie made sure we had everything we needed and more, thank you Debbie

If I could give this place negative stars, I would. I came in hungry and left traumatised, I ordered the burger, the lifeless slab of what you call meat was horrendous no doubt kept in the freezer for ages, I have had better burgers in a greasy kebab house at 3am. My girlfriend ordered the pizza which was a war crime against Italian cuisine it was dry, no sauce, the onions weren’t chopped properly and the crust was so thin it would snap and break like a cracker, beyond disgusted with the food, my stomach feels ill, we will never be coming again

Having visited twice in the past month, we have found the food enjoyable. Debbie has served us on both occasions and it is always a pleasure to be greeted with her smiling face. Nothing is ever too much trouble for Debbie who is always quick to clear away your finished plates so you do not have to sit staring at them. All staff are courteous and helpful. Will be back real soon.

I went along with my family on a Sunday carvery. Food under the heater hob had obviously been there so long that veg was shriveled up and roast beef was dry and cold. Turkey was luke warm at best the gravey pot was empty. When I actaully told them the issue the manager actually said " everyone else seems fine with food we haven't had any complaints mate" my reply then was "im not your mate" I'm a customer and because no one else has complained you think it's fine to serve this dryed up food. Her reply was we do temperature checks and it's all fine at 82c we check with our food thermometer 🌡. I was like the thermometer doesnt check for dried up shriveled veg. Cut long story short my partner and daughter didn't eat the food I struggled to eat the food tasted and felt like eating cardboard box. Felt like I was surrounded by hill Billy's in a Jeremy kyle restaurant. This food is ok when you have literally planted 4 or 5 pints down u and feel drunk, just like on a nite out pissed eating a pile of junk on the side of a dirty alley way at the end of the traumatic nite. Stay well away if you want to avoid 3 nite sitting on the toilet seat and not going to work for a week. Place looks a dirty very un hygienic place. On the way out I notice one of the food serving staff picking there noise and eating it, this literally made me sick when I went outside. Avoid like the plague!!!!!

First time here, was served by a lovely lady called Debbie who was very friendly and welcoming, as well as the guy serving the carvery👍 Food was pretty good, turkey was nicely cooked and not dry, the roast potatoes could have been a bit crisper and browner so went for the mash instead which was lovely. would have been a 5* if the roast potatoes were right

Greeted with a friendly person in the front desk . Pub wasn’t too busy and plenty of seats to choose from . Can’t complain for 8 pounds including tea coffee the buffet breakfast is value for money . Does the job nicely

This Stonehouse must rank up in the top 5 in the country. The service was spot on , the lady who was running the restaurant ( sorry I did not catch your name) was welcoming and helpful. We opted for the carvery , which mid week was far better than we had hopped for. The quality and quantity of the carvery was excellent. A good choice of 3 meats along with a good variety of vegetables and accompaniments. Very good value for money. We can not wait to return and try the normal menu.

Very good value for money. Being veggie, I just pile my plate with Yorkshire puds and veggies, plus a splash of veggie gravy. Yummie!

A nice pub with nice food and a good variety of drinks. I went there for a Sunday roast meal. Asked for a mix of meets and it was all very nicely cooked. Taste was good too. Reasonable price and portion too. The only thing to point is the service as I couldn't understand to who I should speak with about the meal and where to seat.

Vegetables all dried up being under the heat lamp too long...had to call someone over to get served

Boxing day meal for five people. Table was set out nice with Xmas decorations,crackers, party blowers & a box of fun glasses for everyone to make and wear. Friendly helpful staff. Food was lovely. Relaxed happy atmosphere. Good value for money.

I just want to say that the breakfast my partner and I had was very good value for money. The lady Sue at the desk was very polite and professional. There was a table where a customer was causing an unnecessary scene over having to wait for the trays with food on to be replenished. His attitude was totally impolite to the chef who was just doing his job. The server at the desk explained that the food would be out shortly. Bearing in mind this a popular place to have breakfast the demand is quickly supplied. We thought things had settled down and noticed the server Sue apologize for the delay which was not warranted. The guy then said the issue was the chef not doing his job. Very rude and totally unwarranted. They then went for extra helpings. To my disgust they had finished and then complained some more. The lady Sue was very polite and professional. This man was quite rude and it was quite clear he was after not paying the bill despite himself and his parents overloading their plates and causing an issue to get out of paying. I hope management will consider protecting staff from such abuse. The customer isn't always right and this family (mainly) the son were down right freeloading. This kind of behavior is not acceptable. Five stars for professional etiquette and good food.

A rough place to drink , stay well clear if you ain't local and a regular

As always great value and good food. Unfortunately the poor waitress was on her own in a busy restaurant and quite clearly run off her feet but still did her best to accommodate all our individual needs. Unfortunately I did feel the restaurant lacked a Christmas atmosphere this year compared to others. The decorations were sparse, I could not hear the Christmas tunes if they were playing and no Christmas crackers to pull which would have been a nice addition since some of us had the festive menu. Having said that we all left feeling full and at a very reasonable price.

Booked in advance for an early Christmas lunch. Booking worked well and table ready for our use. Selected Christmas lunch menu from the carvery. Meat was well cooked and adequate portion size. Varied range of vegetables, but generally poor. quality. Many over cooked and mushy. Peas dried out and hard. Roast potatoes particularly disappointing.

My daughter had a pizza party here last year and this year as she loved it so much! The staff were very helpful especially Debbie. Nothing was too much trouble and they catered for Allergies. The kids had a great time, they loved rolling the dough and decorating their own pizzas. Thank you for making her birthdays so special. 😍

First appearance sticky banisters. Dirty strained smelly toilets. Broken chairs . Food . Meat ok vegetables very dry . Pineapple on daughters pizza off but she wouldn't say nothing and pudding so dry definitely wasn't worth the money cost Even water warm

I regularly visit the George with my daughter. The staff and particularly Debbie who serves in the restaurant are very welcoming. The menu is excellent but more often than not we plump for the carvery which is delicious. There are different definitions for atmosphere. I like places where you can hear the person the other side of the table without them shouting and neither having to breath in stale air. The George restaurant ticks both boxes. I thoroughly recommend the place based on the good food, service and atmosphere.

I asked whether she’d ever stuck her mouth under the ice cream machine and she said no Which I would have thought is one of the perks of the job. A lovely lady and a good sense of humour.

Would just like to thank all of the staff at the Royal George especially Debbie are waitress for the fantastic service that we had this evening for my daughters 13th birthday dinner. The staff made such a special effort and even made my daughter a heart-shaped pizza, Which made my little girls day!! I would highly recommend anybody going here to eat the food was all lovely and cooked very well. The staff all saying happy birthday to my daughter, which was a really nice touch Once again, thank you to you all we will be visiting again.

Couldn’t be bothered to go home and cook , so stayed for the Carvery . Wasn’t expecting a lot . But have to say it was amazing the meats were moist and not dry vegetables fresh and topped with butter . Our Chef Becky was amazing and provided great service , I can see her becoming KM one day … The staff on the bar great as always . Only criticism is a bit tight on the Pork Crackling … ( Joking)

Were regular visitors, always lovely food staff are very helpful and friendly The lovely Sue always goes above and beyond for us as my daughter has health issues and autism and can be hard to accommodate but she is so friendly and welcoming and never finds her a bother and always meets her needs, meaning I can relax which is a rare thing if I go out with her. I also met friends up there for a catch up over a always lovely breakfast, again we always overstay are welcome as busy chatting this is never a problem for the staff they will check in every now and again to make sure we don’t need anything but there not in your face and annoying making you feel like you need to leave like some restaurants. Great staff, great food great service.
