We went for lunch the other day. Sat outside in the sunshine. The view is lovely. Great atmosphere. Friendly staff and prompt service. The food was delicious and the portions were perfect sizing. Looking forward to spending more time here the the summer. Highly recommended.

Went there for a spot of lunch great service and a great atmosphere

Terrible service, they really didn't care. We were planning on staying for dinner but decided the food and food service would unlikely be good. Also fyi the menu is vastly smaller than on the website. Such a shame, this used to be an excellent pub with really delicious food. It was empty, which says it all really.

Went for a pint and sandwich for lunch on a Thursday. Ordered at 1pm. At 1.20 server asked if we were ready to order. Said we had 20 mins ago. 1.30 still no sandwiches - asked why and were told they had to go out to get some bread !! Sandwiches arrived 1.45 literally 2 bits of buttered bread with some BLT. I complained and they halved the bill and said people don't usually have lunch there in the week !! Why not say they don't do lunches ???

Lovely spot for a drink overlooking the river, would just like to shout out to the fantastic bar amid server who attended the tables outside, dark haired lady, absolute class employee, spoke to each table and was super dig observant and friendly and with permission on the next table offered our did left over chicken, so sweet a real treasure and asset to the establishment

Had a great Sunday dinner here. The staff and food were fantastic and what a beautiful setting as the sun goes down over the estuary. I will definitely be back

Came in for some lunch with my daughter. The food was lovely and so was the service, view of the river topped it off. Staff made us feel very welcome definitely will be coming back.

I had a coke zero. It tasted good on the "buds"... the taste buds. I remember it like it were yesterday. Tescos extra west durrington, meal deal at 12am, head so dizzy, smell so strong. "Rainy day" I whispered softly to myself, a bead of sweat trickling down my brow. Just the slightest bit of sun, a hint of rainbow forming in the clouds above. Mother would never approve. Suppled from the babbling Brook, he'd know that taste anywhere. Right there, right in that glass, There it was. The elixir of life. Scared.

Was part of a large party. They looked after us well. Great food and the food came quickly despite being 20 of us.

A big group of us booked an Xmas meet up dinner. Unfortunately they had a chef issue on the day and told us as we arrived incase we wanted to try somewhere else. Honesty is a good policy. We decided to stay and happy to wait for food. Some of the orders got a bit mixed up food got missed but standard was good and the service and communication was amazing. Yes stuff went wrong, but they owned it! They looked after us under a stressful situation. We all had a good time and have a story to tell.....and will return soon.

Visited on Sunday for a roast and have to say it was the best I've had in ages! Usually prefer to cook at home but the family wanted to venture out...Can't fault anything really, the staff were attentive and friendly. We ordered the Beef, which was tender, lovely roasties and Yorkshire, and well presented. My daughter had the Pork and her friend had the Chicken, both cleared their plates! Will definitely be back again.

Decided to go for Sunday lunch. We walked over a table and I nearly spilt my drinks which I had just purchased when I sat them down onto a very wonky surface. I just managed to save them! We moved tables but before we could alert the waitress, a crowd of people arrived at the table and lo and behold, their tray of drinks smashed on the floor. Not a great start. I ordered the pork belly and it was awful. It was so salty and tough. My partner had the vegan option and he enjoyed it. There was very little atmosphere and we won’t go back. Such a shame as we had high hopes.

Pre-Covid we went here quite often. Decided to go back today. We had booked lunch. Had to wait to be checked in. When we did we were given menus and told where to sit. Had no service and after 20 minutes I checked in again at the reception counter. I was told by the person there there was no table service as she was the only front of house. I ordered and about ¼ hour later we got our food. We had sandwiches, we were not given a choice of bread but basically the food was acceptable. If the staffing situation was so bad we should have this explained to us at the start and not had to go back to find out. We won’t be going there again, it was too disappointing.

Christmas lunch dreary as anything. It was £75 for one slice of turkey and 5 Brussels, the stuffing was rock hard and inedible, the gravy was watery and the gammon was tough as old leather. The kitchen at one point set off the smoke alarm, not surprising as everything was burnt. The pithivier was completely blackened and inedible. As it was Xmas nobody complained but then nobody ate anything. The restaurant wasn't even full and I have had a Sunday roast there before which was actually very tasty but this was appalling. The desserts were awful too. All very disappointing.

Broad range of beers, spirits and wines - Solid pub environment. A few premade cocktails on tap, but nothing too fancy. The mulled wine was a little disappointing. Outside space is great, especially in the summer.

Christmas Dinner. We booked here because we have eaten there many times and never been disappointed. So I don't know what happened on Christmas Day. Starter and amuse bouche were good. Christmas dinner was sadly horrendous. Turkey was OK, gammon was inedible it was rock hard, sprouts really under cooked and parsnip the same, Stuffing and roast potatoes were burnt as were the yorkshire puddings. The beef pie pastry was inedible because it was so burnt. Custard that came with the Crumble was cold and not enough to cover the whole crumble the Crumble top was softcand stodgy. Looking around at others meals they were all equally burnt. Such a shame because we up until.then had never had a bad meal there. Maybe a novice chef was brought in for the day or he was overwhelmed. Shame next year we'll be cooking at home or going away

Christmas Dinner for £75, the most unappetising selection you could possibly imagine. Gammon that was so tough you could not cut it so chewing was out of the question, 5 tiny Brussels sprouts that were like bullets, no other vegetable on view. Turkey which was best thing on the plate, one slice, Gravy not sure what that was oxo in water I think. So disappointing and then the person in the kitchen I can't say the chef set fire to the Xmas pudding and set off all the smoke alarms it was quite frankly the worst Xmas dinner I have eaten in 60 years

It's okay, not the best for atmosphere inside and can be a bit 'dead' but outside in the summer is great next to the river with a DJ sometimes present - popular with the younger crowd.

New refurbished makes for a great,relaxed, clean atmosphere. We loved coming here for the best Sunday roast around. It used to be half a chicken, lashings of gravy , more veg you could possibly want. All for around 14. 50 each. A lot for your money!!! Unfortunately , since the refurb, prices have risen to 17 pound each for the roast chicken, which is understandable. However the chicken portion has now shrunk to that of a standard breast, with minimal veg. Still all well cooked and delicious, but disappointing as it was so amazing before. Staff all good and efficient, but wasn't as busy on a Sunday like it used to be.

Amazing roast at the Crown & Anchor today - our first visit but definitely not our last. They were very accommodating with a veggie roast for me with swapped items so it was just how I like it. And all completely delicious. Crispy roasters, giant yorkies and they didn’t overlook the roast parsnips! Can’t wait to go back.

Had an amazing roast dinner and friend had fish and chips. Both meals were delicious and staff were great. I’d highly recommend to go . 👌🏼

We both ordered a blt asking for the bacon to not be too crispy. What we got was stone cold congealed bacon in a cold bun and tepid scraps of fries. After pointing this out to the waitress there was no apology. I also booked the table in advance and was not informed the conservatory would have scaffolding inside.

Great place for a meal by the river, on a crisp November afternoon. Great New menu, perfect wine and lovely attentive staff.

Large, sunny garden next to the river and good beer. Unfortunately we ordered Sunday roast today and it never arrived. Asked the staff after 45 mins and they said they'd looked for us but couldn't serve the meal, even though we'd told them the table number. We hadn't seen anyone trying to find us. They then said it'd be 10 minutes but after 20 still nothing. Got our money back because we didn't want a meal that had been sat around while they 're-did the potatoes' and they still kept saying we'd never given our table number! All our fault apparently. Poor service.

This was the best roast dinner I've had in AGES! And the staff - Louise in particular - were brilliant, and provided outstanding customer service (which is so lacking in lots of places these days!) There was a new manager and she'd been there only two weeks. So she was still learning the ways of the of the pub. Food was nice, sandwiches, with hot contents. Beer range was poor, one had run out. And outside, part of the floor was raised and there was no warning.

Went over to the Crown yesterday after work as the Crown is a great place to catch the evening sun. Was an amazing atmosphere, sitting by the river with great music and the bar maid's was incredibly friendly despite how busy the pub was for one person. Definitely recommend.

A welcoming traditional pub. Visited the bar with friends recently, we had some nibbles from the menu which were nice and sat along the river having a drink. What a dreamy location. We were welcomed by the landlady who was very welcoming and showed us towards the bar and invited us to sit by the river. Really lovely venue and will be looking into hiring their function room for my birthday this year.

Sunday roast - literally the best pub roast I've had in a long time and the best I've had in Shoreham EVER! Reasonably priced, generous portions with roast potatoes that are actually crunchy, crispy AND fluffy, succulent meat, a proper nut roast (I'm so sick of Wellingtons) and cauliflower cheese where you can actually taste the cheese (a rarity these days). The broccoli and savoy were not overcooked and were a welcome addition after being served only root veg at another nearby establishment the week before. Friendly and helpful staff - even my dog was made welcome, with water and gravy bones. Please keep this team in the kitchen for ever, like slaves for my Sunday roast requirements - lol. No pictures because we were having a no phone day, but it was beautifully plated too.

Great food unfortunately they were short staffed on the Friday night and dinner we waited 20 minutes for. Hopefully they will get more staff.

We visited bank holiday Monday and I have to say the 2 lovely servers on shift were absolutely rushed off their feet but still managed service with a smile. They literally did not stop. I really hope they are appreciated by their manager and payed appropriately. They certainly earned it! Kudos to the chef too! Lovely food

Popped in for lunch today, WHAT A BREATH OF FRESH AIR! place was lovely and clean, staff were Ever so friendly. General atmosphere was great! And my food was was just perfect, sat out the back enjoying the sunshine without any OTT music. I’ll be back !

Had lunch here whilst meeting up with friends from Nottingham. Nice sunny outside seating area beside the River Adur. Food lovely and filling, Scampi and chips, Pizzas and very nice Tuna melt with chips and salad.

Nice area to sit outside by the river, food took a while to arrive and when it came it was very mediocre. I won't be going back there for food.

Barmaid had an off day I guess. Nice view of the river. Beer was very good- Whitstable bay bitter. Had three trips to the bar. Two with grumpy and one with bashful.

Was absolutely amazing vibe. The Dj was so friendly he made us feel very welcome. Played great music and done any request we asked for and came and had great chats with us and The pub looked after us very well.

Sunday evening, the pub is empty, the garden is empty. I wonder why? The music is blasting away so loud you can’t talk to each other. It’s dreadful. A little light background atmosphere would be nice. This is awful.

Lunch for ten was a mixed bag. Pizza was burnt on the bottom but not cooked fully on the top, to the point of being inedible. Mussels were great as was fish and chips. Burger was very decent too. All soft drinks came up totally flat, like a can of coke left open for two days kinda flat. Some food items were missing/forgotten and so came late. Service varied, some staff super personable and efficient, some clearly disinterested and bordering on away with the fairies. Pizza was removed from the bill to be fair. So a mixed bag on our visit.

Visited July 2023 with friends whilst on cycle ride. All had fish and chips and pint. Great food and service very good/social. Will return.

Nice venue, great location, friendly happy to help chatty staff, shockingly rude manager for point blank refusing to authorize recooking a £9.95 tortilla platter due to staff not being able to find us in the terrace garden out the back. Sadly a communication error that could have been resolved politely ended up the manager holding me accountable for why we never got our tasty tortilla sharing dish in front of his staff which I found quite completely unprofessional. To paint the bigger picture as I’m not the rantey sort, no table number was given to a member of staff when ordering as we happened to be one of the very few customers sitting outside due to averagely poor weather conditions. 30 minutes passed without any staff stepping outside with our dish causing me to go inside and enquire about our food. On enquiring, a member of staff managed to reunited us with our dish apologizing as they couldn’t find us in the building and therefore couldn’t serve it. An agreement was made to organise a new one as the present reclaimed grub was dried up following 20 mins under under the serving lamp and therefore un-edible. This was the moment when the manager stepped in and without acknowledging the back story, cancelled the recook and blamed me for not being locatable. At this point, due to the manager being so in-polite and unreasonable, he left me with no alternative but to demand a refund. My other google reviews demonstrate that Im grateful for good service and customer experience, sadly I left rather shocked by his handling of this relatively simple staff hiccup!

The wonderful staff at the Crown & Anchor in Shoreham came to our rescue on Thursday, 29-June-2023. We had been booked to eat at another local restaurant in the town, but we had been on receiving end of very poor service, so we left. But...

The service was very slow, we were a group of 15 and waited nearly an hour for our food. I chose the burger and it was ok but the bun was very dry.

Beautiful location, especially in the garden. Very friendly staff and food was great! Would definitely come back if I was in the area

Just a bit odd that when you first walk in there was no one in the front bar to greet/serve. You have to walk right inside and down some stairs to then find another bar! £15 for 2 pints and 2 slim line tonics.

I got a burger and chips and the burger could not be any more dry. The bun was unbelievable crusty and almost uneatable. Also overpriced.
