Called in for a cheeky pint, and a couple of gins for my wife Diana, dog friendly and staff very helpful. The beer garden at the rear is really well furnished and a sun trap. We didn't eat or stay but the food looked good and there was a good choice on the menu,

Came for a birthday celebration last year. Had a choice of Sunday roasts. Not usually a fan of roast dinners when out but this one blew me away. Amazing quality, everything good quality.

We had not been to the Rose and Crown for a while, we were aware it had changed hands, but thought we’d give it a go for Sunday lunch as it was always awesome. The bar drinks were the same and we were served promptly, and no issues. The table was ok. We ordered 2 Sunday roast beef, the price had increased to £25, but we were told it came with veg, cauli cheese and gravy. The food was tasty, but it really needed to have 3 slices of beef, as we felt cheated with only 2, which were very small. The wine was expensive by the glass, so have a bottle if you want wine. Based on the overall cost of lunch, which was over £100 with wine and pudding (no starter) & service charge, I don’t think we will return, as there are better places to eat for better value!

Not complaining just a heads up we stayed in room no 4 found only 3 hangers in wardrobe and not much storage space apart from that it won't stop us staying again 👍

As a one off seafood evening this was a great success. For a Thursday night the the atmosphere was buzzy and the fish dishes were imaginatively creative and very well cooked and presented. We look forward to the next one.

Went for the seafood evening. Lovely warm greeting from Matthew. The food was fantastic, I had the halibut, which was amazing. Followed by the Lemon tart. ( wow). The atmosphere was lovely, all the staff were friendly and approachable. Prices were what you would expect to pay. I would highly recommend!!

Food was good, but that wasn't the issue. No problem with places being Dog Friendly, but when you've got a group of 3 in with 4 dogs and a kid, the dogs of which are running under your table and getting dog hair in your food, followed by the group vaping at the table next to you when you're eating, it kind of ruins your meal. Won't be returning in a hurry.

Eight of us went for a late Sunday lunch. I had the salmon, and the rest had the roast beef. My meal was delicious and nice and hot. Unfortunately, the beef was not hot and had to go back to the kitchen. They brought back seven replaced dinners. Everyone was really pleased with the replacements, and all said they were delicious too. No issues. The pub is well laid out, nice decor and has a great outside space. The service was very good considering how busy the pub was.

First time back at the Rose & Crown for some time. Service was great and food was very good. Roast was as good as it always has been and there were a good choice of alternatives on the menu. My main criticism would be the atmosphere has gone. Staff don't seem as happy as they used to be and there isn't that feeling that you're a valued customer.

We arrived in Knutsford at lunchtime so went straight to Rose & Crown as I’d looked at ratings previously. Lunch did not disappoint! The pub itself is beautiful - full of character! Service was fab and food was delicious. My husband had the burger with caramelised onions and I had the chicken burger with hot honey sauce. They were both very fresh and tasty! Would highly recommend.

Just spent three nights at The Rose And Crown over May Day weekend, there are nine rooms and we took five (would have loved one of us to to be ‘inside no. 9’ though). One issue is that the television in my room kept cutting out so ruined my son’s viewing pleasure. Other than that can’t complain, I knew it would be noisy, we were above a pub, near-ish an airport and it was the weekend but these issues did not bother us as it was all expected. The pub is really lovely (busy) and the beer garden is pretty good too. Room was cleaned every day. And location is excellent for restaurants, shops, the heath, Tatton Park and the moor. The staff were really attentive, very friendly and super efficient. We ate out all the three nights choosing to eat at the pub our first night; me and my sons had the burger, we all enjoyed them very much. My hubby had the ‘balti pie’ and this was his favourite meal of the entire trip. We also had breakfast each morning, my eldest son absolutely loves hash browns on a brekky and my youngest son loves black pudding, neither of these items were on the menu so maybe in the future? Also Saturday morning perfect poached eggs, Sunday morning they were not as good and hard so Monday morning I had scrambled. I would definitely return.

My two absolute favourite features of the Rose and Crown, Knutsford are the incredible team of people that work there and the delicious food that they create and serve! I have never stayed there before and was immediately made to feel welcome - this care and attention continued throughout my stay. On top of that the food is excellent and not all that it seems! The Nduja sausage roll, for example, is like a sausage meat wellington with delicious red pepper ketchup and the Brazilian speciality steak, I am told, was superb. Not feeling particularly hungry I was also presented with perfect poached eggs for breakfast!! All in all a happy and delicious experience that I will gladly repeat! Wow! What can I say? What an incredible experience today has been. We chose the Rose & Crown to celebrate my son’s birthday and they absolutely did not disappoint us. From the amazing food, a wonderful cake made by the extremely talented head chef, and the lovely atmosphere, to the outstanding customer service, genuinely, the staff were exceptional - you made sure all the family felt welcomed and wanted for nothing. I’d like to specifically thank, Alice, Eva and Tabby for their impeccable attention to detail, their warmth, courtesy and professionalism shone through, and you made the whole time we were there a pleasure. As previously mentioned: a huge thank you to the head chef for taking the time to make my son a gorgeous birthday cake, it was fantastic, as was all the food. All together, an incredible afternoon, I could not recommend the Rose & Crown highly enough. Thank you so much. 🙌

4 of us seated and guided by the menu. We asked some questions about the menu and what came with the roast the waitress was full of information it was like having a story read to use as she described the roast! Nothing was too much of an ask and it was a great experience!

We booked our Sunday lunch in advance and arrived to find a busy old world pub with lots of atmosphere and well spaced tables. We skipped starters and plumped for the salmon and porchetta mains each supplied with lots of tasty vegetables. The yorkshire puddings and roast potatoes with the porchetta were stunning. We were so full that we passed on desserts. Food prices are not cheap but the quality of the food, efficient service and pleasant atmosphere more than compensated. We would not hesitate to return.

30/03/24: Red Willow Brewery: Weightless session IPA 4.2% 13/10/23: not a great selection of craft beer. We had Wainwright's Amber ale, Somersby cider and Poretti lager. Service was good, staff friendly. Quite a busy establishment. Dog friendly!

Pub had friendly atmosphere, my first visit to knutsford service was quick, beer was good, seats were comfortable & toilets were clean.

We booked 2 rooms for a weekend break one of the rooms dog friendly. The location and rooms were ideal. However I cannot praise and shout from the roof tops enough how amazing the staff were especially Daniel he carried my bags served our food checked us in and worked so hard with a smile throughout our stay. Joe was fun upbeat and always on hand to ready to make sure we had all we needed. Compliments to the chief the beef wellington was out of this world … pub is well kept clean and rustic. We would love to come back again …

What a fantastic experience for our Sunday roast. Service was superb, the beef dinner was fantastic. Bottomless gravy was on tap and what I particularly liked was that every mouthful has lovely flavours. We will be back!!

A return visit with friends did not disappoint. I have commented previously on the excellence of the R&C Sunday lunch and have nothing further to add. Of interest is the views and comments of co-diners. Of note is the quality of the produce used and the fact that everything tastes like a top quality home made roast. Credit must go the kitchen for their care and preparation of a memorable service. Pinot Noir at £40 is a little steep in a pub environment but probably worth it. It is to be noted that that some of our diners are already booked in for a future visit.

Actually got shown to the beer garden at the back having asked the manager if they had one. Nice staff.

Fantastic wait staff, but sooooo noisy that glad to leave. Please do not underestimate the noise level. We had a partially deaf person with us, who said 'i have to leave as soon noisy' so you can imagine what fully hearing people had to endure. I left with a rod in my neck, my sister had to get in the car, put on sunglasses even though it was dark, and close her eyes for 30 mins due to a headache. The noise level, cackling women, shouting men, extremely loud bar area, made the meal unenjoyable. It's a shame as waiting staff brilliant, food ok, but pricey. Would never return due to noise level alone. Our party did not enjoy the experience at all and we were away from the bar. Not relaxing at all. 1 star rating is for the constant loud noise alone. Never again.

Stayed here for one night with our dog . Clean comfy room. The staff and owners were amazing. Nothing too much trouble . Friendly and warm atmosphere . The roast dinner was to die for and the breakfast was 5 star as well . The price was good for the quality . Can’t wait to return . Shirley the owner was also able to tell me where to buy boots .

Perfect Sunday Roast 👌 Service was excellent, beef was pink, tender and not at all fatty. Felt very comfortably ‘stuffed’ at the end of our meal. Shiraz was gorgeous. Very cosy and friendly atmosphere. They also looked after our dog with water bowl and treats.

Lovely, cosy inn, only 5 minute walk from the railway station. Clean, quiet en-suite room. Straightforward check in and out. Included full English breakfast, though I didn’t sample the rest of the menu. Friendly service. Could not have had a more pleasant experience, fully recommend!

A fabulous Christmas Day with delicious festive food. Kind, attentive staff for whom nothing was too much trouble. They were warm and welcoming throughout. We had a delightful afternoon. Thank you.

Five ate for lunch. Reasonably quick service but food quality (burgers) v mediocre. Stupidly we didn't say anything but for £17 each they were shocking, not helped by a pathetic chilli jam paste spread over half the bun. Others seem to like but much better available locally.

I now totally understand why Sunday lunch at the Rose and Crown is rated so highly. A very generous plate was highlighted by an excellent quality beef sirloin, large Yorkshire, and interesting medley of veg. All beautifully presented and served by friendly and attentive staff.

Exceptional Sunday lunch this afternoon at the R&C. My teenage children and my two guests could not have been more satisfied . The food is the best I have ever had in England. The pub serves pub classic meals as well as a Michelin stared restaurant serves caviar. The severs Matthew and Joe were so lovely and attentive and the atmosphere is very cosy and inviting.

Wow, we met a large group for some drinks and ended up eating as the food looked so good. The staff were very attentive and looked after us all night - we never had an empty glass and they were very flexible to allow us to sit together.Its kept its old coach house charm for a traditional English pub feel and food was delicious and much higher standard then expected.Really good car parking and accommodation - both hard to find together in Knutsford!Thanks for a great evening!

We only stayed the one night for the Tatton Park flower show but it really made our weekend. The hotel carpark was easy to find following the directions on the website. The hotel is wonderfully old and traditional with a querky modern twist. The outdoor seating area looked great as did the restaurant but we unfortunately arrived after the kitchen closed so didn't try out the menu. The staff were welcoming and friendly and our room was spacious, comfortable and clean. We had a great range of hot drinks in our room and the sweet pot full of Haribo was a great touch after a long drive. Breakfast was good and again the staff were really friendly and chatty. The only downside to our stay was an alarm for one of the shops across the road went off for about an hour in the middle of the night but that was no fault of the hotel.

Please inform a family with small kids if they will be waiting an hour for their food rather than ignore them. No one came over to ask if we wanted another drink or give an update on what was going on. We could have ordered some bread for the kids to tie them over. I do understand it’s a “pingdemic” but you had plenty of staff on and it wasn’t busy. You walked past our table multiple times completely ignoring us. You didn’t even have the decency to apologise for the wait when we finally got served. All we would have wanted it to be kept updated. Fish with skinny fries is just not quite right. Salmon was ok but the bernaise sauce a bit on the sharp side and salmon a bit over. The main letdown was the service though. It’s such a shame as we used to love meeting our family here but we won’t be coming back any time soon…

Booked here for one night to see a friend who has moved to the area. Can't fault anything. Room was lovely, spotless with a good sized bathroom. It overlooked the courtyard which was nice too. Great to have windows that open as it was very warm day. A fan was provided too. We had drinks her at lunch time and evening, service was very friendly. The cooked breakfast was spot on, cooked fresh and very tasty .Would definitely stay here again when next in Knutsford. Great old pub with lots of character.

We stay here as often as possible. The staff are amazing and always make us feel welcome. The rooms are tastefully decorated and the beds are super comfy. Lunch and evening meals are lovely and the breakfast is also very good. Location is great, right in the middle of Knutsford with the added bonus of free parking. Looking forward to our next stay.

Fantastic customer service, nothing was too much trouble. We took our road bikes and they stored them for us . The food was outstanding and the prices where reasonable.Keiran was extremely professional and was outstsnding at his job. Both Lisa and Nicola too was lovely and generally you felt at home.

Had such an amazing time at this Hotel recently so we have booked again for December. We were a party of three couples who spent the night here, we started off with lunch on the terrace which was not only a lovely setting but the food was excellent. The breakfast included was faultless and then we booked for Sunday lunch, what can I say, this was probably the best Sunday lunch I have had out ever!! This is a lovely old pub that has been done up very tastefully without ruining the character, they serve lovely wine in nice big wine glasses. This is a family run Hotel with the most excellent and personal service. The only downside I can say is this place is so popular you will have to book months in advance. We will be planning this as a yearly trip as a group, cannot wait to return in December when we have literally booked in for lunch, evening meal, breakfast and Sunday lunch as there actually is no place better to eat in Knutsford.

After visiting Tatton park we decided to eat at The Rose and Crown.Very covid friendly and dog friendly too.(for our 2small dogs).My Salmon, broccoli,radish and potatoes along with, Spicy Beef salad which was the choice of my better half was absolutely exceptional along with the service.This was our first visit but we will be back again in the near future for sure.

We popped in on Saturday lunchtime on the off chance we could have something to eat and I am so glad we did. All the staff were very friendly and attentive throughout the meal bringing extra drinks, serving us with a smile and chatting at the end. The food was delicious - I would particularly recommend the garlic prawns to start - (they were probably the best we have eaten outside of Portugal) they were a good sized portion and very tasty. Would thoroughly recommend this pub and will go back when we visit Knutsford next

Called in today to see if we could be fitted in for Sunday lunch; good decision. We were seated next to the ancient fireplace inscribed 1641 and treated to one of the best Sunday roasts we have had. Staff were attentive, the atmosphere felt very safe and the historic surroundings were wonderful. Two real ales were available on the hand pumps and I tried the locally-brewed one, Little Bollington Bitter from the Dunham Massey brewery - fantastic beer. Tasty, cool and refreshing.Given all the changes that the hospitality industry has suffered recently, it is brilliant to know that the Rose & Crown is hitting the heights in terms of quality experience.We will definitely be back!

Just popped by today for lunch. Lovely food and attentive staff. My boyfriend could have had a bigger portion of the cottage pie but he had some of my chips. Either way we both really enjoyed it.

Visited Knutsford today and decided lunch at the Rose and Crown was needed as our last visit, last year, was a treat. The starters of Scotch Egg and Honey chipolatas were excellent, my fish and chips were to die for, well cooked fish without excess batter and great home made chips, my partner asked for the pork without rice but extra salad and she enjoyed her meal as much as I did mine. Would certainly recommend a visit here if you are visiting Knutsford.

Excellent English pub hotel. Staff were very good and pleasant and welcoming. Our room was clean and tidy and comfortable for a 2 night stay. Breakfast was excellent full English. Outside seating was very nice, the bar, restaurant was very tide and old in a very good traditional way ( floor and beams, real ). Good range of drinks and ales, food not expensive and something for everyone.

Just had a fantastic Sunday lunch ,service perfect well looked after by the outstanding Kieran , Lisa & Sadie. All the staff are deserving of a mention, and of course Nicola.Well worth a visit to sample the excellent cuisine, we will be visiting many times.

Stayed in the hotel during the last few weeks of lockdown and the first week of the pub reopening. The rooms were clean and comfortable and the staff couldn’t have been more helpful. Thankfully I got to taste the great food and beer on the last week of my stay. Big thanks to the staff and I’ll definitely be staying there again if the opportunity arises.

Just had Crispy Chilli Beef salad - might not be the healthiest salad but was superb. Staff are a delight - felt safe and very looked after. Beautiful outdoor terrace big tables.

Went here for lunch with hubby while out doing some Christmas shopping on a wet miserable day. Lovely cosy and warm place to eat! We shared the Christmas platter for 2 priced at £18. Was very tasty and filling. It included slices of Turkey, pigs in blankets, a scotch egg, roasties, bread, pate, chutney and gravy! Was delicious. Highly recommend it!

The Rose and Crown have done an amazing job during lockdown. They have maintained their excellent standard of food and drinks and selling the best pints of cask ale in the town.The outside seating area is amazing, the team have invested in a fantastic patio area for their customers and the outside service is top notch. They deserve support from the local community for the way they have continued to serve us through this tough time and always with a smile. Well done team - look forward to many more happy visits once this tough time is over.

The Rose and Crown is just the type of pub you would expect to find in upmarket Knutsford in many ways but not so in others. The Rose and Crown has good honest, upmarket pub food but the prices are reasonable and there are non of the pretensions that you find in some of the other eateries in Knutsford. This family run pub is a real gem. Some may comment that the drinks are a little on the pricey side but so they are in many of the other establishments that the Rose and Crown competes against as well.

We visited for lunch yesterday and we were glad we booked early. The restaurant filled up quickly. Good COVID measures in place. Nicola and her team were very welcoming as always. The food was exceptional as was the service. Beef, perfect and pink, great roast potatoes, piping hot vegetables and gravy to die for. Huge and fabulous Yorkshire puddings too. Good choice on the children’s menu and an exceptionally good chocolate brownie. As always lunch very reasonably priced and some excellent bitters being served.

Lovely overnight stay in room 4, a great room , immaculately clean, great facilities, and at a really good price. Breakfast was also really good. The staff were friendly and very helpful, and they are working really well with the Covid guidelines. Highly recommended, we will be back. Thanks to everyone, FOH staff are a credit to the business.

If it’s consistently brilliant service, excellent choice of food and great selection of beers, wines and spirits all contained in a very well organised COVID safe environment, the the Rose n Crown is the place to go. The Sunday roasts are exceptional, in fact it’s safe to say I’ve never had a poor experience with any of the food I’ve had. I can only assume the recent poor review has got mixed up with a different venue as the owners and ALL the staff go the extra mile with friendliness to locals and first time customers alike.....(plus they don’t sell Bollinger!) Give it a try, the winter terrace at the back is also stunning if the pub part is full.

As other reviewers have said an extremely rude, unpleasant woman in this pub. No customer service, as a Knutsford resident not used to this in any of the other lovely pubs and restaurants in the town. So we took our business elsewhere ( wine and wallop) what a difference! Lovely staff and surroundings.

My wife and I recently stayed at the Rose and Crown and found the staff very polite and the whole venue was very well organised under the current circumstances. The room was very clean and the bed was without a doubt one of the comfiest I have ever slept in. We were served an excellent breakfast in the morning. I could not fault it. Knutsford is a relatively small place if you haven't visited before, the Rose and Crown is right in the middle of King Street which is an excellent location. We enjoyed it so much we have booked to go back in November, this time for 2 nights providing further restrictions are not put in place by the government.

Well what can I say I didn't realise who the management were until I went there today with my partner of 30 years and my 18 year old daughter there was an unpleasant woman wandering around talking for hours to her pals from wherever, not locals as I could tell anyway table service is fine if you don't get ignored and then your daughter is asked for I.d. when she's with her parents, these people need to stop thinking there more important than the customer,because I think they think they are doing you a favour by opening there door to low life like me a Knutsford resident for 30 years and the climate we live in today seems they don't need my money R.I.PP.S how do you miss a bottle of bollinger off bill of there friends very strange

Called in today for Lunch both food and service brilliant. Scotch eggs in black pudding to die for. Very filling and was able to take left overs home. Definitely worth stopping in 5*

One of our new favourites. Exceptional service, food and setting, The Rose & Crown did not disappoint in any department. A really warm welcome in a wonderful bar, beautifully done out, great menu with lots of choice. We left highly impressed and vow to go back soon.

Went today for lunch. I had something from the light bites menu. Chorizo on toast with a quails egg. It’s was lovely. My husband had a fish finger sandwich. That also was fabulous. We had a look at the main menu and it looked really great. Will be going back in the evening sometime soon. The service was fab.

We stayed here for one night, we made an error in our booking but they were able to accommodate us for one night and we managed to book our 2nd night elsewhere. The accommodation is nice although the bed was very uncomfortable, requires a new mattress! The food was lovely we had dinner, lots of choice, it was presented well and so tasty. The breakfast was great with lots of choice. The restaurant and bar area is really nice, we had a few drinks, the service and staff are really helpful and friendly.

We wanted to sit outdoors to eat and they were very accommodating for our request.The food was lovely - Mrs E recommends the risotto!Not sure we would have chosen to eat here if it wasn't for the 'eat out to help out' scheme, very glad we did.

Well, firstly to the staff, apologies my brother and I had a cracking meal and didn't have any cash to leave a tip. My bad. We both had steak which was brilliant. The Bovril butter was lovely on top. Lovely setting in a Tudor style pub/Bistro and the staff were very welcoming and friendly. We'll try and pop in tomorrow on way back from Bedford. It's worth it. Especially since nice man Mr Sunak is taking 50% off the bill. ;-)

This place is amazing the staff are very friendly,food is 100%. Well done on a very professional approach to safe distancing on your first night reopening. we enjoyed every minute.

Rose and Crown have got Sunday lunch down to a fine art. Everything was perfect. Beautifully presented. Decently priced. The very best take away in town.

Having eaten at the Rose & Crown previously, we were pleased to see that they see that now offering a safe collection on weekends.Their sit down Sunday Roast is sublime but collected fish and chips were just as enjoyable. The fish is huuuge and the chips are tasty and home made, sweet minted mushy peas were delightfully different. Brownies and Profiteroles to finish were really special too.The packaging was excellent, recyclable boxes keeping the food crispy, warm, and cool where needed and it really helped translate the restaurant experience to our front room.Enjoy a treat and support these businesses during the current tricky times-when the dust finally settles we'll be grateful and the quality establishments will still be there to help us celebrate.
