Lovely meal we had fillet steak which was cooked just right and was allowed to park our camper in the carpark overnight

Came out for a family meal. We had two Rose and Crown burgers, hanging kebab and a chicken curry. All tasted amazing and had very large portion sizes. Staff were very friendly. Will definitely be coming back soon!

Sadly we were badly let down with the quality and portion sizes. We order a chicken kebab which only had four small pieces of chicken and lots of veg. The salad was poor quality and the coleslaw was old. We also had the Cornish pasty meal, the pasty was mainly veg and felt more like a vegetarian option. After being told how good the food was we felt disappointed and will not be going back.

Great atmosphere, amazing landlord and landlady, great food. We had such a good night and all staff were so helpful and friendly, nothing was too much.

Disappointed in lunch food today. Menu looks really good and competitively priced but food quality was poor. I ordered mussels and they were over cooked so rubbery and tasteless, and the bread was poor quality and with no butter. My grandsons pizza was also unappetising, though he thought the cheesy garlic bread was the best he had ever tasted. It was our first visit and our last unfortunately

We'd had a roast during lockdown fir my birthday so I know food was amazing. We booked a table short notice for my parents visiting from Essex, so 4 adults and a pushchair. Then my stepdaughter decided to join us, so booking was amended. Gentleman on the phone was very helpful. On Sunday we had more room than we thought spec with a pushchair. All staff were polite and caring. Meal was perfect and desert there were no words. I'd recommend this pub more than once and curious why we've not been since lockdown is over. Can't thank staff enough!!!

We,a party of 4 had Sunday lunch here today 26th Feb and what a delight it was. Started with a warm welcome and a really well kept and presented pub. We all had various roasts and the food was absolutely delicious so credit to the chef. The young bar staff and waitresses were fantastic and a credit to you. We will be returning. The menu was varied, covering most tastes and having a GF selection. The food was very nice, and the prices were reasonable. Service varied from being very attentive at the early stage of ordering to where have they all gone when it came to desserts The pump diet coke is neither Pepsi nor Coca cola. It is some unknown brand and is foul.

We visited the Rose & Crown on Saturday night and had a great meal. The food was delicious, nothing fussy, just simple food cooked really well and decent portions. The pub was pretty busy, always a good sign. We were welcomed warmly and its very dog friendly. We sat in the lockdown shed as we had brought our dog. It was cosy and has heaters and we had dressed warmly for the occasion. Although we weren't in the main pub, we still got good service. I wish we had come during the day as I heard the views from the shed are lovely. Would recommend this pub if you're in the area.

My mum usually comes for lunch with her friend on a Friday and loves it, so she took my dad and I for dinner and it was fantastic. The restaurant area is beautiful, food delicious and service second to none. *Slight* downside was sitting next to the loudest table we have ever heard - shouting at each other when they were only sat opposite! But obviously, this is absolutely no fault of the pub. We had 3 starters, 3 mains, 1 desert, a coffee, and 3 alcoholic drinks, and the bill was more than reasonable. The hanging kebabs are absolutely beautiful! We cannot wait to come back. Would love to try a legendary roast dinner!

We have returned to the rose and crown after a long absence and found the menu is quit extensive including gluten free the wife and I had a meal each which was bloodly loverly the inside is very clean and the toilets absolutely spotless we are returning for Sunday dinner I know we wont be disappointed a must try for all you people that are looking for a good meal well done

We found the Rose & Crown to be a very welcoming and friendly country pub. We phoned ahead to book a table - we were advised that they had a private function booked on the day we wanted to visit, but were able to offer us a table in the ‘lockdown shed’. We wondered what this would be like, but it was lovely. A wooden building with open frontage overlooking the fields, and can be heated in cooler weather. Just perfect. We enjoyed our meal too. We were very pleased with our visit and will return.

Super-friendly staff on arrival, welcomed us to a lovely traditional pub. The food was fantastic and just what we needed after a morning out walking with the family. Good selection on the menu and the kids' roasts were brilliant, plenty of food and a nice little saver! Gutted there wasn't a crumble on the dessert menu but the wedge of sticky toffee pudding made up for it :) Would highly recommend and we will be back!

Called in today, pleasantly surprised with the welcome, we were struggling with the COVID-19 system, the landlady saw this and went out of her way to see that we were fed & watered. Excellent,good value food served in a pleasant setting well worth a visit if only to support a lovely couple. Xxxxx

We were looking for a reasonably priced restaurant in our local area that was also taking part in the "Eat Out to Help Out" scheme. There were a few listed that we had either been to previously, or had been recommended to us, but The Rose and Crown caught our eye so we decided to take a chance.Wow! The food was amazing, generous portions, well prepared and presented. I started with the breaded Brie. Two big chunks of brie coated in golden breadcrumbs served with cranberry sauce, and a lovely fresh side salad. My main course was homemade pasta with prawns, which again was a large portion, very fresh and tasty with garlic bread on the side. We were very impressed with the amount of homemade dishes on the menu which included pasta, chilli, and pizzas among others, all of which were obviously genuinely homemade, being very fresh and tasty. The only disappointment was the sorbet, which didn't have much flavour other than being sweet, but the waitress was happy to take it off our bill. In contrast, the trio of ice creams was outstanding, with a vast variety of interesting flavours, and the chocolate brownie was delicious.The staff were all very friendly and upbeat. The restaurant was clean, and well presented, with stunning countryside views.We will definitely go back again!

Having come out of shielding this was our first family trip out and we used the Eat out to help out scheme. We had a lovely meal outside in the "shed" well a very very grand shed! Really impressed at all the thought that had gone into making this a safe place to hav a lovely meal. Really enjoyed it and we will be back next week. Almost delayed putting on such a positive review because we want to be sure we can get a table!! But that was a bit unfair. Thank you for a lovely evening.

Ordered Sunday lunch fir three family during lockdown. Reasonably priced and in fact cheaper than their restaurant. Thought impressed. Huge amount of beef and the potatoes were crispy on the outside and fluffy inside. Good selection of vegetables and the gravy was Devine. Thoroughly recommend.

We had a table of 6 adults and a child for a birthday Sunday lunch. The service was quick The food plentiful and great choice, and catered for vegetarians No one left feeling hungry that was for sure and their choice of gins was great especially if you are a gin connoisseur. Definitely will book again

This is one of my favourite eating places or was!The food was always fresh, beautifully cooked and well presented. Today was not good. The boiled potatoes we’re soft and soggy, the fish cakes were slightly over cooked and there was no dressing on the potatoes. When I asked for the dressing the waitress kindly brought some from the kitchen. However, it was not the usual subtle butter sauce instead it was it was an extremely strong garlic butter sauce which after I poured it on the potatoes made them inedible. So I had just two slightly over cooked fish cakes and some peas. ☹️I did ask if there had been a change in chefs and was told they had two chefs. I was not asked why I enquired!!Hopefully this experience was a one off.

A last minute spur of the moment decision to pop to the pub for a drink turned, thanks to some very persuasive salesmanship ( well done that man!), into a tomahawk steak and thrice cooked chips feast fit for several, kings! It was HUGE, and totally delicious. Perfectly cooked - we asked for it rare and it was lovely and brown and seated on the outside and perfectly pink in the middle. The chips were crispy and fluffy. We couldn't finish it all but they happily suggested packing the leftovers for us. Looking forward to beef and horseradish sandwiches! Thank you

We have not been to this pub for a good 7-8 years as it kept changing hands and we never heard good reports.Well the new owners ( about a year ) have certifiably changed that perception and offer good food and a warm welcome.We ate Sunday lunch after calling at short notice and they managed to fit us in no prob elm, even tho the pub was vibrant and busy.The food was very nice and my missus had the vegetarian Roast which can be hard to find in pubs.The pub now seems like a good old village pub with locals and others giving it a good feel.We will certainly be return soon.

I've used this pub a number of times over the past few years and never been disappointed. Quite surprised to learn here that it was taken over about a year ago.... well done, it appeared quite seamless to me.Located in the sleepy (for me) village of Hartlip off the A2 down one of those horrible single lane roads Kent is noted for... I refer to as the Kent Motorway System... the pub itself is far from sleepy. The beer has always been in excellent condition... notably the London Pride. Strangely enough, this was the first time I'd actually booked a meal here..... and it was excellent. A prawn cocktail starter followed by a roast pork main. Generous helpings both, friendly service and very good value for money. One point lost you the full 5 stars.... Are you short of spoons?.... Had to eat my prawn cocktail with a fork, and had to fish out the cauliflower in sauce with a spoon...achievable but inconvenient. Yes, I know I only had to ask..... I'll give you half a star back....lol.Well done.... keep up the good work.

We visited here to celebrate my birthday on a Sunday afternoon. We were quite a large group but the staff coped really well and got all our food out together and correctly. All the meals were lovely and everyone said how it was nice to have some proper pub food. I would like to thank all the staff for helping to make my birthday a memorable day. I would choose to visit this pub again either as a large group or as just a couple, I would think it would be lovely in the sunshine as they have a small garden and are in a lovely little village in the countryside.

Visited the other day for a drink and some dinner, and all i can say is wow. Staff seemed disinterested, food lacked presentation, although some nice flavours. Won’t be returning due to overall experience.

It was one of the most unfortunate experiences I have ever had in a pub in the UK. As a resident of Hartlip village I found this behaviour disgraceful and abusive given the rich history of the village.

We recently visited the Rose & Crown for a family celebration. There was a good atmosphere. The food was nice and tasted better than the way it was presented. The House wines both red and white were very good. The service was friendly but lacked some attention to detail especially towards the end of our meal. Overall we had a very pleasant afternoon and would return.

We had dinner here on Saturday night. The service was fantastic as was the food. We all had steak and was cooked to perfection. The landlady was very friendly and took the time to have a nice chat with us. Will definitely be returning soon.

Normal pub grub. Nothing special. Alright prices on main menu. Specials prices we thought were a bit steep. Staff weren't very quick. Normally have a lovely lady with brown hair called sarah serve us. But not on this occasion. She normally has a pretty little blonde girl working with her, my husband also said she used to work in the kitchen to! Overheard someone talking, saying she'd left. You will be missed. Very good on the bar, don't think we tried food when she cooked. I had steak which was fine, little over what I asked for. Asked for medium rare got well done. Husband loved his, he had one of the specials. Thought it was a but over priced for what he had. If you want nice pub grub, go here

Had a Sunday roast. And not much cop. Meat ok. Not enough roast potatoes. Too much cauliflower cheese. Aunt Bessies Yorkshire’s (I looked on every plate which came out and they were all virtually identical). If they aren’t Bessie’s then the chef doesn’t know to make proper Yorkshire’s. (PS my family is from Yorkshire. Mine are very different.!) Veggies very standard. Peas and carrots. Really? Gravy tasted like gravy granules not proper Oxo or Bisto or actual meat juice-made gravy. Very Disappointing. Had Sunday lunch at Three Tuns last week. Much better. Broccoli and a better selection of veg and huge misshapen (as they should be) Yorkshire puddings. Love your pub but you need to improve the roasts. Other than the cauliflower cheese, it resembled an Iceland frozen Sunday dinner for one.

Hadn't been to the Rose and Crown for many years. Went back for dinner and thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Food was excellent. Staff friendly and the service very good. Amazing value with a Groupon voucher.

Came here for lunch recently, good pub with friendly staff and a nice atmosphere. Only ordered a sandwich however when I saw what a companion had ordered, scampi and chips wished I had the same. All the same enjoyed my visit and hope will be back in the future.

I have been having lunch at the pub for over 20 years. This was the worse meal i have had there. More embarrassing as i had my family with me. It took over an hour to be served. The plates were cold,the meal luke warm, roast potatoes over cooked and uncutable etc. We will not be coming again.

Sunday roast gorgeous, hot and generous portions, staff so very very friendly, we will be back and will recommend to friends.

We went to the Rose & Crown last night, we had a brilliant meal so tasty wonderful presentation. Great service, they could not be more friendly. Didn’t get to have a pudding as so full up but definitely will go back as they looked amazing.

Went for Dinner with a friend, service was fast and friendly, atmosphere was great and food was delicious. I had the salmon special and was also very impressed with the selection of gins on offer. Would definitely recommend or visit again.

We waited 15 minutes to order our drinks. after another 15 minutes we had to ask another member of staff to bring our drinks.

Visited here with my husband, children and our mums for our anniversary. We are very local and have driven past the road where the pub is so many times but never ventured in. Whilst looking for somewhere different to try, I read some reviews which all sounded positive so we decided to go.

I got invited to a private function last night and it was amazing! The buffet was just very tasty and to find out it was homemade by the chef was brilliant.

Only started coming in the past couple of months and it's been great every time. Good atmosphere, never too busy or too quiet. The food is lovely. Big portions and now I'm definitely addicted to their fishcakes.

We had a lovely family meal here, I especially recommend the Haloumi burger. Good service in lovely surroundings. Well worth a visit.

I have visited here several times in the last 2 months and I have the fish cakes every time I go . I love them and am now addicted to fish cakes . Service is great and overall a great experience I recommend it !

Not impressed with this restaurant at all. We were a party of 14 and because of that the restaurant asked for our orders before the day. That was done but still there were mistakes in the order. We arrived 15 minutes early and they said we could sit down and order drinks first. This was at 1.15 and our meals did not appear until 2.15. They apologised and said they wanted to bring all meals out together however they were intermittent in their arrival! The two ladies serving seemed to be flapping. The food quality was poor particularly the Caesar salad which was definitely not worth the nearly £10 charged. My own meal fish cakes potatoes carrots and peas was unappetising and poor value. On complaining they did offer our desserts free but still I felt embarrassed as I had arranged this for a family outing with members coming from far and wide. I will not be using this restaurant again

There is a lack of pubs (let alone good ones) in my area, so the wife and I took a more scenic drive to Sittingbourne tonight although only got as far as Hartlip and the Rose and Crown. The sun was out, space was in the car park and the garden looked inviting so we thought this would do. as we only wanted a drink and a catch-up while our son spent a few nights away with his Nan and Granddad. To cut a long story short, we pondered the menu and thought it looked to good to be true, something wasn't right.

The new owners have made significant changes, and the food was cooked to perfection. A clever menu, without too many "fussy" dishes. Service was excellent, and a good selection of wines and beers are available. Ensure you book, as this is going to be very popular as new leaks out. Rang them up to ask if they would accommodate me if I got there at 8:55pm and they said yes, very pleasant people, great food and reasonably priced too. This is the second time my husband and I visit this pub for a lunchtime drink and a sandwich in the garden. On both occasions we have been met by a very friendly landlord and his wife. I asked for a mild cider and the landlord kindly offered me a taster. The sandwiches were of excellent quality - mine with plenty off the bone ham whilst y husband had an equally delicious sausage and onion one, both served with homemade coleslaw and salad.

Asado los domingos, recibida sobre pedido 3 - 4 piezas de aspecto cutre de cordero, no rebanadas, no lo suficiente como para llenar un panecillo, y 3 patatas asadas, y algunas verduras. Mujer pidió un plowmans y me dieron dos rebanadas de jamón, algunas pequeñas y ensalada. Patético.
