Myself and my partner called in for lunch this afternoon. Very busy pub but Kirsty was able to accommodate us. I had the bacon and mushroom omelette from the light bites (£9.95) came with huge chunky chips, partner had the lamb kofta (£8.95). Both excellent meals and very filling. Cannot fault.

Good range of pub grub and a child’s menu was on hand. Everyone was very pleased with their meals - the steak in the steak and ale pie was so tender, pastry so short it was very filling but delicious. Yorkshire puddings were huge. One downside was the 10% service charge on the bill. Not sure why this needs to be added on. Service was exceptionally slow and arguably not worth the £15 we were charged.

Went as a group of 10, so we were asked to pre order when we booked the table which is not really my favourite way of doing things but I have to say very pleasantly surprised, orders came out together, the quality food very good, the Roebuck cocktail "prawn" certainly didn't skimp on the prawns, almost a meal in itself. Very good staff with just the right amount of attentiveness. So happy to have a day off moaning 😂

Not baby friendly! Came today for lunch with two friends and babies, was seated in the bar by a lovely waitress… then asked to move by a different member of staff because the prams were taking up too much room. Even though there was no reservations where we were. They suggested we go elsewhere. Won’t be returning 😂

Just been for my friend's birthday meal...it was as fantastic as always. Every time we've been, everything is always top notch. Food is always so tasty & well presented. The staff are friendly & professional, always will to help. We even got a candle in my friend's dessert today & they sang happy birthday to her. A lovely touch as they had happened to find out about it without anyone saying anything. Great pub in a beautiful setting with plenty of parking. Seating in & out doors. Our wonderful lunch at The Roebuck on Sunday was let down by being asked to vacate our table as it was needed for a reservation. This was at 4.30pm, when only one other table in the dining room was occupied. The bars were almost empty too. If the table was needed there are more skilful and courteous ways this could have been handled than baldly being asked to leave. The 2 of us had been there a while but had spent over £100 on food and wine and may have ordered more if we had stayed. This abrupt ending to an otherwise perfect lunch – excellent food, service, ambience – all on a lovely summer afternoon, has severely tarnished our views of The Roebuck –which we have always considered to be one of the best Otley eateries until now. Shame.

would like to offer my gratitude to the chef and waiting staff for a delicious lunch with you today. The food was superb and of a very high standard. Your waiting staff were most attentive to our needs and provided both food and wine most efficiently. My friend and I booked for a 1pm sitting and were happy to continue our conversation and enjoy the relaxed atmosphere. Until we were uncourteously asked to leave. Due to our table supposedly being required soon. Regardless of the fact there were five other tables empty. This was not, in my opinion, an acceptable form of quality "customer service". I am a regular customer to The Roebuck and would have appreciated and expected a more hospitable way of informing us of the need for a table. We felt a "thank you" for our service could have been applied and, perhaps, a different attitude towards our presence may have made a difference. In fact, if we'd felt welcome, we might have stayed for coffee. I will pass this on to Trip Adviser as, to be honest, being a local customer, I am very disappointed

Looking for a lunch venue after dropping some things off in Otley. Out of town suited us and good reviews. Not disappointed. Booked a table outside, arrived a few minutes early and it was ready. Really friendly staff, with the ‘Madam D’ cruising around, which was nice to see. Drinks order, no rush, time to peruse the menu, chose, swapped, chose again, changed mind….. I went for Belly Pork and the current wife went for the Lamb. Arrived - beautifully presented and a good sized portion, just the right amount. Superbly cooked, fresh veggies on the side, piping hot. Lots of Mmm’s and Oooo’s followed. Crackling was stunning and my photos don’t show the veggies I am afraid. Would I make a comment…? A personal choice would have been apple sauce with the pork rather than the apple chutney, but - opinions vary !! No room for pud, coffee was hot, with choice of milk and a little chocolate - vital ! My word - a great lunch out, great food, great service, we will return.

We had booked a table for 4 people but they said they didn't have a booking for that time so we were off to a bad start from the off. We were then rushed into ordering our food by the chief waiter who told us he was expecting a large group in so we had better order now or expect a long wait or words to that effect. Starters were okay but m garlic mushrooms were served on a thick slice of untoasted white bread which is a first for me and made the dish rather soggy. Three of us had Scampi which was just so so while the other in our party had a beef sandwich with chips and unfortunately the beef was so tough he couldn't eat it, this was of course taken off the bill which is the least they could do but it did mean that the guest in question went away hungry with no recompense for that. All in all a very forgettable experience that won't be repeated any time soon.

We weren’t optimistic about getting a table for two but we were in luck. We had a lovely welcome, great service and the food was fantastic. No photos as we were too busy tucking in. It was refreshing to be in a busy pub with a lovely atmosphere. We were sat near the kitchen doors watching the food coming out and hearing the happy hubbub from the kitchen. Service was faultless and we would highly recommend. Can’t wait to return as the pies looked tempting for mains and the deserts menu was a really tough decision.

We were in the area walking and looked for somewhere to eat and found this place. Called to book a table and luckily they had a table for us! Really lovely place. Cosy, warm and plenty of space between tables and had a lovely atmosphere. Even though all the tables were occupied it was not crazy loud and we could still have a sensible conversation (so many places just seem so loud when full) The menu has enough choice for anyone to find something they want, and obviously because it was Sunday they were also doing roasts (but it's great they also do their regular menu on Sundays too) I had the burger which was very impressive. The burger itself was very big, juicy and very flavoursome. I normally object to paying extra for cheese on a burger however there was a LOT of lovely melted cheese which tasted great with the meat of the burger. I asked if I could have the pretzel bun that came with the 'garden burger' and was told yes with no hesitation. Glad I did as the pretzel bun was amazingly soft and doughy! My wife got the roast beef which was also very good. It came with a jug of gravy so you put on as much or little as you want. I wish everywhere did this! Good quality beef, cooked nicely and still pink. Lovely buttery mash, perfectly cooked roast potatoes and a bowl of lovely well cooked vegetables. We shared the sticky toffee pudding for dessert which was the best dessert I've ever had. The sponge was so so soft with a really lovely flavour. It came with a good amount of toffee sauce but not loads (the perfect amount) and unusually the sponge and sauce were not overly sweet which just made the whole thing even nicer to eat. Service and pace of the whole meal was perfect. We didn't feel rushed at all, ordered quickly after being seated, and the food came out much quicker than we expected considering how busy the place was. Prices are not cheap, however they are similar to many other places these days. But the quality of the food and service definitely made us feel that the prices here were worth paying. I can't remember the last time we had such an all round amazing meal and we would definitely recommend this place and we will be back. Thank you for an amazing experience.

The food was mostly excellent, especially the starters including the special squid and the prawn and the haggis. Only one dessert which was a de-constructed cheesecake which was slightly strange. Overall an enjoyable meal.

We said yes we had booked but would like to sit outside with a drink while other members of our party arrived. Was told to go follow her to our table which was inside . However we carried on walking to the outside acknowledging our table. She was not pleased order drinks and sat outside . When we sit down inside we were greeted with no chicken pies all went on Sunday. Obviously had not got a new delivery in or baked any. Meal experience not brilliant small portion of veg to be shared amongst us, drinks expensive . Pie crust hard and one member of the party their crust was burnt. Won’t rush back. Long time since I visited, I remember a grass beer garden with stunning sunset views over to Ilkley, sadly, it's no more. But there is a lovely raised patio for drinks and meals, alas, no real sunset views as trees and local garages, sheds etc block the view. My pic is a cropped pic from very near the patio to give you an idea of what is lost.... Still, it's a fab country pub/diner, the food looked and smelt great, (I didn't eat), the staff were lovely, and I highly recommend it!

I don’t go out for a pub lunch often but when I do it’s a big treat for me. I like to wander up to the bar, order a pint, maybe have 2, check out the menu and order something. Not here, it’s not allowed. This place has a very clear idea of what it is and customers must comply. First and foremost you are met at the door by a server and the message is “have you booked? if not we may or may not admit you”. We were shown straight to a table. The server insisted that we sit at a table for 6 even though a table for 4 came available very soon after we arrived. I was back-to-back with another guy sitting behind me, it was cramped, our chairs were touching. I went back to the bar to order drinks. It was not staffed. When a server eventually arrived he served the guy that had arrived at the bar several minutes behind me. To be fair the server did ask me what I wanted whilst serving the other guy but then said that I should return to my table and wait to be served. I returned to my table and another server came and wanted to take my food order. I told her that I wanted to wait for my drinks first. When our drinks did eventually arrive the server was at the table seconds later wanting to take our food order. I felt pressurised into ordering and did so, but I was rushed. Again, to be fair, the food was excellent and although I saw French fries being cleared away from one table, we had to endure “cheffy railway sleeper” chips. We may have seen what we wanted on the menu if we hadn’t been rushed. Cmon guys, only chefs like chunky chips. Last time we went here it was a nice pub with nice food and a nice atmosphere. Now it has a very clear idea of what it wants it’s customers to receive and if the customer doesn’t like it tough luck!!

Met up with family and friends for Sunday lunch. Food was excellent, most of us opting for the selection of roast dinners.

Pre-booked a table for Friday evening. The dining area is nice with good views over the surrounding hillsides. My Lamb kofta Starter was really meaty and tasty. Opted for the Steak and Ale pie with chips. The Pie was well filled with nice chunks of steak and the chips were very good. The accompanying veg was a little raw for me although my Wife loved it. Pie crust was a little hard but the gravy softened it up. Nice friendly staff and good service

Since covid we have struggled to find a good pub. A lot of places have seemingly dropped in quality and hiked prices. Thankfully we found this place last year and it has now become one of our go to places for good pub food. Prices are mid range - high, as most places seem to be at the moment, but at least you know you are getting good size dishes and quality food.

What a find this place is….. will definitely be visiting here again!! A very charming interior with very friendly staff. The food is superb! They have a fabulous menu with lots of choice, from traditional to something a little different…. The presentation on the plate is stunning!! Table service is absolutely on point and you are neither rushed or left without drinks / empty plates in front of you. Add this to the stunning views out across a beautiful countryside view while dining and it leaves just one question….. What took me so long to find this place? INCREDIBLE PLACE TO DINE!! 10/10 Thank you for everything it was faultless. ( Recommended by my brother and his family for us to celebrate my nephews Birthday/ visited on 22/07/23 )

We count ourselves very lucky to have family living in Otley near to this fantastic old pub. The food, ambience and service are second to none and is amongst the best pub dining experiences we have experienced on our travels back to the UK. From the lamb kofta starter through to the belly pork main, coupled with a great pint of Black Sheep that I had was an absolute delight. The rest of the family had prawns or garlic mushroom starters and various home made pies for mains and none of them disappointed. The chips are to die for! One slight downside is that the king sized prawn starter was extremely hot (which of course is good) but as the prawns were still “in shell” it made for an uncomfortable time trying to de-shell them. We also had to ask for a finger-bowl which we would expect to be a standard provision. These are only minor points which did not detract in the slightest from an overall very enjoyable experience. We will definitely be very keen to return during our next UK visit

Great food & ale. I would have preferred a table in the conservatory but hey, we booked late.

Booked lunch and was really looking forward to the pies (I am a pie fan) they sounded excellent. However, I was incredibly disappointed. The starters were lovely, very flavoursome. The pies on the other hand were not so. My husbands filling was lovely, but the pastry was thin and unpleasant. They just resembled a pre prepared case with the filling of your choice and a lid which was decorated. The pastry cases were not cooked properly mine was still raw in parts which was sent back and a new one presented. Still not good and the filling was devoid of any flavour. It was supposed to have cheddar cheese in but the only cheese I found was on the lid. The filling was just potato and onion no real seasoning. The garlic and herb sauce was ok, thin but offered the only flavouring for the pie not too garlicky which was good. Chips were excellent as was the veg. Staff are very friendly and location lovely. In my opinion the pies need reviewing!

Amazing food at reasonable prices. Very friendly service and great at any time of day. There's a dog friendly area too for diners (through the roadside pub entrance)

Great breakfast as always however, the highlight was one of the members of staff who originated from Sao Paolo Brazil (sorry didn't get her name) who was a font of knowledge on the local area and truly adores living there. We appreciated her time and we will be visiting a few of her recommendations. A truly lovely, kind and thoughtful lady 👍
